Absolutely correct!!! pineapplejuice: I think expatrio is better, I'm currently using fintiba and honestly they have serious wahala. Also based on what others on this forum have said, fintiba can seriously delay you with their 'proof of source of funds' stuff. |
Travel › Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by HudsonTaylor: 7:19pm On Sep 04, 2025 |
My brother just use Expatrio as your appointment is close, that way you'll get a confirmation as soon as you fund the account. Go to their website you'll have the option to choose from their different packages. gosarumese: My circumstance is changed now. Initially I wanted to use a sponsorship letter but it is not possible again because my sponsor has a few person he is sponsoring, hence, his income will not be enough. So, I want to fund a block account.
Which is better Fintiba or Expatrio?
How long does it take to open the account?
Is it free to open?
Kindly inform me about this block account process. Please, it is urgent. my interview is 23rd September 2025. I need to open and fund this account before the date. Help me, please. |

nein They can only give you the money to put in a German blocked account e.g Expatrio, Fintiba bearing your name. Remember you can't access this money till you get to Germany. Alternatively, if you have someone who is staying in Germany, he or she can get you a Sponsorship Letter from the foreign Office, only if they meet the requirements. frankmoney: This block account is there a way around it ? Like the way people can help with POF for Canada |

Please don't make this mistake oo. Just Chill. Your other appointment is still valid. You don't need the VIDEX form until its time for you to go for your appointment. The VIDEX form is easily accessible online. Just download it and fill it,its part of the documents you'll take along for your Interview. Chi123456: Please, I applied. for an appointment in April 2024; there was no VIDEX form. Should I apply again? |

Was his documents complete?? Did they reach out to him to Submit additional documents like Insurance?? If he had submitted this, then no worries, he'll get his Visa soon. Certain other factors could be responsible for the delay. But no worries he'll get his Visa. He's not the only one yet to hear from the Embassy. Does this mean that the waiting period for appointment is 2years + now? |

Embassy is still in November 2023. As it stands, you'll have to keep deferring till like 2027 summer, except the Embassy changes their modus operandi to hasten things up which is our prayer. Just be patient,we all are waiting too. Nontab: Hello Fam,
I applied for visa appointment November 2024, way before I secured an admission in April 2025.
My school starts on the 1st of October, 2025. I'm yet to receive an appointment date from the embassy. I'm so frustrated and anxious.
Can anyone help me if there are available options on how I can navigate this.
Help me please!!!🙏🙏🙏😫😭😭😭 |

Good Morning all,Pls I'm trying to update my CV. I have a Masters Degree from a University in Nigeria and going for a second Masters in Germany. Do I remove the first Masters from my CV or let it remain? Since I'm going for another Masters program in Germany. Hope leaving it there wont be much of a problem,as I don't want much questions from the V.O as to why I'm going for a second Masters. Any advise or experience will be appreciated. Thank you. |

You're right Chester6096: I think that the reason for these delays are as a result of everyone booking appointments even of they do not have admission or block funds. We the new changes that has made it impossible to book appointment without complete documents, fewer applications would be submitted, then appointment dates would be more expedient. |

Contact your School and explain to them the Situation of things at the Embassy. If they allow a deferment, then defer your Admission to the Summer semester 2026. You will definitely get an appointment date so you can resume for Summer Semester 2026. If they don'tallow a deferment, you will have to reapply to the School again for Summer intake. I'm in a similar situation like yours,I had admission for Summer semester 2025 and did my online enrollment, my school does not defer, they only asked that anytime the Embassy gives me an appointment, i should be free to inform them immediately so they will give me a new admission letter I don't need to apply again since my information is already on their system Soluts348: I have gotten admission and I'm to resume this winter session. Please what do you think is best option for me? To deffer the admission or is it even possible to enroll online here in Nigeria until I get my VISA? |

The waiting time is approximately two years. Expect your appointment early next year. Avoid the Mistake of wanting to cancel and making a rescheduling,if you cancel, you will have to register on the Consular Portal and Join the queue all over again, you've waited this long enough. Exercise more patience. Patience is all it takes. Kind regards! Soluts348: I am in a similar situation. I have gotten admission and I applied for an interview in June 2024. I was told that I would wait for 1 year in the email they sent and until now, I haven't heard back from them. Should I reschedule or send an email to the embassy? Anyone with similar situation? I am to resume this winter session How can I proceed? |

Thanks for the clarity pineapplejuice: No, this link is supposed to be for Category A students, people have just been sharing it saying you can get an appointment through it. It says clearly in the email that you are to bring he documents requested on the consular services portal. You're supposed to use this link after you've booked on the portal, had your documents verified and been told to book an appointment. They havent started attending to Category B on the portal at all. They link your application to the application on the consular services portal right there during the interview. If you go with an appointment from thr link, you'll be told you've booked under the wrong Category, it has happened to people already. The waiting list from the old portal is still valid. |

After you got an email from them on your supposedly wrong email address, you would have emailed to ask them to confirm if that mail & appointment date is valid. But no harm in trying, just prepare for your Interview and your written test. |

For the new Consular Portal, you'll need an Admission letter, blocked account with 11,904 Euro or preferably a letter of commitment/sponsorship, get this first and I think you are good to go. The old portal no longer exist. The Earlier the better,so you can join those on the waiting list. Good luck! sirrotex: Hello guys. For someone intending to get admission into the next academic winter session next year, when is the proper time to book a visa appointment, considering the waiting period and I'll advise a detailed list of requirements for the booking |

Thank you Lizzy for sharing this. This will help alot of people. Wishing you Gods speed and the very best. Lizzypleroma: My Experience at the German Consulate in Lagos – Visa Interview
Hey everyone,
I felt led to share my experience at the German Consulate in Lagos for my student visa appointment on 22nd July 2025 especially for those attending private universities in Germany. This group has helped me so much and I hope this post will be helpful for someone else out there.
I got to the embassy by 6:30 am and many applicants were already there. Arrive early, stay calm and don’t let fear or anxiety distract you. You need your full attention and composure.
Please print and photocopy all your documents before you arrive. The cybercafé vendors around the embassy will charge: • ₦3,000 for colored printing • ₦2,000 for regular black & white • ₦1,000 for photocopying
They’re nice but they’ll bleed your pocket if you’re not prepared.
They may also tell you to: • Drop your bag (you can’t enter with it anyway) • Rearrange your documents
All these things cost money, so come organized and carry cash just in case. Pro tip: the security guys at the gate of the German consulate can help you keep your bag “for something small” (I didn’t tell you sha 😂)
At the Gate: What to Expect You’ll be asked to submit: • Your passport • The printed appointment confirmation mail (with date, time and ref number)
Listen carefully to the security team, they’ll give instructions.
Document Tips: • Remove all staple pins (yes, even from transcripts and photocopies) • Arrange documents: Original, then photocopy, original, then photocopy (no strict order, just that format) • Hold your passport photo, don’t include it in the submitted docs • Come with an ATM card that can pay at least ₦140,000 (visa fee) • Don’t bring cash, they may not take it
During the Interview Once inside, just follow instructions and breathe. The most important thing is getting in. From there, stay alert and listen carefully.
I was nervous at first, but once I got to the visa officer, I calmed down. The questions were basic: • Your name • Date of birth • When you graduated, etc.
Then came the real part… Private School Students – READ THIS!
She asked: • How much did you pay as deposit? • What’s your full tuition?
I told her the answers. Then I presented my Verpflichtung (Declaration of Commitment) and my school’s payment plan.
She went to ask her supervisor and came back saying it wasn’t going to work as the rule for private schools is FULL TUITION payment upfront, not payment plans.
So: • My documents were not collected • I didn’t write any test • I didn’t pay the visa fee • I was given a paper stating incomplete requirements • The visa officer told me that once I pay full tuition, I can email them and get an earlier appointment (no need to wait another 1+ year for a new date)
I felt lost. I travelled from my state, booked a place in Lagos and spent a lot of money just to be turned back. It felt like a waste. But I trust God. This is a delay not a denial.
If you’re in this situation too, don’t lose hope. Just plan better and go again.
Final Tips • Be fully prepared with all required documents and extra cash • Don’t let fear eat you up they’re humans just doing their job • Remember: God pass them 😂 • For private uni students: FULL TUITION OR BLOCKED ACCOUNT. • Don’t rely only on Verpflichtungserklärung unless your sponsor is super loaded and the money has already been moved or shown clearly in bank statements
Wishing everyone good luck with their application.
If you have any questions, I’m happy to answer. ✨ GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS 💖 |
