This link is for the old portal. Check for the new link which is the consular portal to register and join the wait list. But take note that you must have your compulsory documents complete,like your blocked account and other requirements on the portal. Wait time is still more than a year.

Your spouse still has to apply from Nigeria and join the wait list. For now the waiting period is still more than 18 months to about 24 months. Remember they must also alongside other documents present a Basic knowledge of German,usually the Goethe-Institut A1 zertifikat. Except things will change in the coming months.

No one knows how long it will take to get an appointment, only the Embassy knows that. They didn't issue out dates last week,same with today,no dates. They are still in January 2024. You don't need a german proficiency certificate for an English taught course,but you will definitely need to show proof of English proficiency at your appointment by either getting an IELTS or Letter of Medium of Instruction from your previous University. Generally, the Embassy will ask for a proof of Proficiency you used for your Admission & your admission letter should state that as well.

I heard it’s possible but i wanted to confirm from people with experience before starting the application processes.

Dependent?? For a German Study visa?? No,Germans don't do dependent.

They 'll have to use the Family reunification route.

Your admission letter should state that you fulfill the Language requirements before admission was given to you. Use what you submitted to your school and take that to the Embassy.

Hello everyone, concerning the issue of language requirement for visa application, is letter of proficiency in English issued by higher institution accepted in place of ielts, toefl, etc?

As long as you wish i guess(not sure),but make sure you get the timing right and secure an admission also as they may not grant you another chance. While rescheduling, remember to give valid reasons. Then add your Name,Date of birth and passport nummer. They will respond and give you another date .

Only Embassy can answer this question. Shockingly, Someone with a strong 2:1 also got rejected. Its only the Embassy that really knows what they are doing.

Bookings online are closed for the Exams taking place later this month. If you had booked,Embassy might be lenient to attend to you pending when you get your results and submit to them on a later date. But try to see if you can visit the Goethe Office in Lagos and see if there is any slot left for the Exams,you may get help.

Anyone knows how someone with appointment on 21 Nov can get an emergency A1 exam done? It is part of the visa interview appointment. Goethe isn't helping and it's important that the appointment is made, this is the 2nd reschedule.

People that did their interview a while ago and their School is in the Bavarian state,has the Embassy now issued out your Visas??

Appointment: September 16th 2025
Passport dispatched on Monday 6th October and collected today.

My cousin’s interview was 19th August and the enrolment deadline is 15th October. Yet, they have not responded.

I’m really scared for him. He has done online enrolment but physical enrolment is still required.

Did you apply using the old or new portal?? I don't know how the new portal works,but for the old portal,you could apply and wait then block your funds few months or even days to your appointment.
I guess this new consular portal,you have to upload all documents correctly, meaning you must block the funds i guess and upload proof.

Embassy here will only require you block your one year living expenses which is the normal 11,994 Euro or thereabout. The confirmation is what you take along for your appointment.

Bro Chill...relax. We understand your situation, I guess like you said,you just applied recently using the consular portal.

If your school doesn't defer,no need to Panic,just let the Admission go. The most important thing is that you have registered on the portal and are on the waiting list.

The Embassy is fully aware of the Waiting period,so nothing like penalizing cus obviously the Documents you uploaded would have expired as at when they will call you for an appointment. You just have to reapply to the University(Probably when you know your appointment date is getting closer)

The Embassy is still in 10th Dec 2023.
So chill,don't Panic. You can also source for Scholarships which will make the process faster for you.

In a situation whereby the school does not support deferral at all (eg RWTH Aachen), is it advisable to have gotten another admission letter before the visa appointment date? (this is because the original admission letter used for the application would have expired before the visa appointment)

won’t the person be penalized at the embassy because it’s a different admission letter (even though it’s the same school, but a different admission letter date from the one used to originally apply for the visa application)
