Chai! This boy is very good oooo. He even came to limelight before Ebuehi.
I trust rohr to go after him should the deal pulls through.... it is so sure some players in the super eagles really need up their games...otherwise many young guns may push them out....

The best player in the Nigeria National team today is Victor Moses. It's like saying Neymar or Ronaldo should play left back or right back for Brazil and Portugal respectively.
you're talking as if...he is in the same level with those players you mentioned...

without Moses the super eagles will win matches....him playing the wing back role is for the team and not for himself...

after all we not gonna play with that tactics in all matches just against teams like Croatia,Spain etc...when we need explore the wings and as well.choke the midfield.

The best formation for a team is that which best utilizes the potentials of the team to achieve results. And we need to maximise our potentials to get results in this WC. It is not about my alleged best players.

Someone is talking of playing Moses as a wing back if we adopt the 3-5-2. Is that Moses' most potent position in this current team?
we are not going to play 3-5-2 all the time...just certain games we play such...
you're talking as if without Moses on the pitch we not gonna win any world cup match...

if he can play that role for chelsea for close to 2 seasons why can't he play the wing back role for the super eagles just on few matches we play such...ebuehi can come in for him in the second half...if he burns out...

Moses can as well return to wings when we revert back to 4-2-3-1 team formation in other matches.....

so let's be flexible...

I think this your post contradicts your stance, bro. You're suggesting that we give up the middle to the Croats but at the same time implying a 3-5-2 formation which is basically and practically a midfield-choking tactic!

If we play the 3-5-2 then we're practicall , rightfully congesting the midfield in a bid to afford the Craots very little space in the middle. 3-5-2 basically is occupied by 5 bodies in the midfield, bro.
I never insist we give the middle to the crots..but rather we concentrate on the wings......more.

Sense should fall on guys, don't date if you're not ready to spend. There's a possibility that guys who think like this are going to register their wives for antenatal in substandard hospitals, endangering their lives because they don't want to spend their hard earned money. Anyway, you get what you seek.
that your correlation relating date with money spending for guys leaves me baffled.
it is so unfortubate that here in Nigeria...some ladies see relationship as a paid job...an avenue to get money from guys same way some guys see it as an avenue to get sex....

Nigeria ladies really need a reorientation..I still can't understand..what's happening in today's world...you meet a lady today few days after just barely a week...she has start ask you for money....it makes no sense.

That is a major reason I don't like that 3-5-2 formation. We will not be utilizing some of our best players.
big bro...me don't understand you at all..
are you after the eagles win or you just want to see your claim best players in the field of play...?
it is only one who don't know modern football tactics that will berate this 3-5-2 formation....

it is a strategy that we should adopt on sensitive matches...when need be.... especially when we play a team like Croatia.
you're talking of choking the midfield...that's the best formation to choke the midfield and same time bully the crots via wings...

We all have agreed that the counter attacking approach would be best for the team. That is why we need Mikel as the AM. Those killer passes that will set our strikers apart for a kill.

Iwobi does not have that kind of eye for killer passes as Mikel does.
I think your reservation regarding iwobi Playing the AM role against Croatia is abit reasonable.... reason because the lad hasn't master that role perfectly like mikel...

but still he can often come in as sub for mikel....during the world cup..

Nopes, that is contrary to my proposition. Against Croatia We choke up the midfield and hit them on the counter. While we adopt a more attacking approach against Iceland.
still don't understand the full meaning of the term..."choke up the midfield " because we will be playing a crop of world best midfielders....how can we choke up the midfield against these guys...?
that's question begging for answers....

save for mikel...our midfielders could barely give 10 yard accurate passes...and passes are often misplaced....

mikel will sparkle if deployed as a central midfielder or a deep laying play maker (the andrea pirlo/michael carrick role).mikel lacks the speed and shooting ability to operate as a number 10. i believe alex iwobi is blessed with the skill set to metamorphose into a mercurial attacking midfielder. another player who should be nurtured for that role is qpr's eberechi obi after the mundial
bless you bro...

By deploying Mikel to the CM you are reducing the potency of our attack.
iwobi can as well play the AM role...

should we go with mikel as AM...it means onazi has to sit on the bench for one of ogu, etebo....
taking look at the Croatia midfield...you will agree with me...those men are experienced bones.. that only experienced players like mikel and ndidi can match...

nice observation bro. onazi no doubt brings enough energy to the team but he adds nothing moving forward. he tends to perform better when we face African oppositions. mikel can be deployed as a central midfielder who's sole responsibility is to coordinate the team's play and also help alex create openings for our strikers to score
God bless you..... the best way to frustrate the crots...is massive attack...massive defense....the defense should be aggressive as much as they can...and the wing backs be mobile and swift join the attack when need be....

if rohr will deploy mikel as the team's central midfielder he will help steady the team'splay and composure against the crots. onazi maybe to erratic with his tackles which may cost the team if he is booked.
exactly bro...we need an experienced mikel to play the CM role...together with ndidi I trust the interceptions and tackles to be neat and less rash....

We need two DMs in that game . One that will sit in front of the CBs and one that supports the midfield when on the attack and falls back as a DM when we lose the ball.
having two defensive midfielders like ndidi and onazi gonna dry us in that game....
we should go with one...and make use of either etebo/ agu
I see nothing wrong playing mikel as a CM in that game while iwobi takes the AM role....

I am still waiting for a friendly iwobi gets to play the AM and mikel the CM role...hopefully against England...

both players in the middle...with a striker like nancho upfront gonna birth goals...as nancho and iwobi can both interchange roles depending on who is with the ball.....

my only problem wit mikel...playing the CM role is his inability to shoot from a distance....

Its amazing that you watch several matches every day but you seem ignorant of tactics teams deploy against each other. I bet that you see these tactics but just choose to remain stuck to some old school believe about football.

On this thread, several times in the past, it has been said here that football have evolved. The dynamics have changed. But it seems that many people are yet to come to full grasp about how football is currently played on their screens.

If we were both managers, i Nigeria's coach, you Croatia.... You play me from the middle and i will play you from the sidelines... At the end of the day, Baba i will beat you silly grin
bro...please calm down with your words...
we are all.learning no need for harsh words..simply because we don't agree on same stance...

his tactics will better work when we play a team like Iceland but I still fear...for us..regarding our difficulties in making good passes upfront...
but should mikel and iwobi, etebo or ogu get to play from the middle.....the passes will all come in...and the midfield can be choked...

When you gift your midfield away you will lose control of the game, starve your forwards of balls, plus your defense will come under serious threat and will capitulate. Na white washing be that.

The best approach is still to choke up the midfield, and try to shield your defense while also capitalizing on breaks to hit them on the counter.
I will go with real poacher because judging from the sebia match....

I think we can't really match the crots in the midfield... best way to play them is through the flanks so a a Formation like 3-5-2 should be adopted...and passes should be spread to the wings....

the middle should be seldomly used not until they're under pressure...to make some deadly mistakes.....

you use the tactics you proposed up there can work effectively when we play Iceland...and not a team with world class midfielders like Croatia....

and keep the ball.

Another fine option if you ask me. Etebo in place of Onazi will be very good too. He has same energy levels/work rate as Onazi but his is times 10. But Onazi is likely is start but this is a fine midfield three all the same.

The attack is also nice. Mehn, we got options. At least we know that whosoever will start, we got a fine bench with players who can come in and cause damage.

Your selection picks itself either in a 4-2-3-1 (Ndidi and Etebo as double pivot with Mikel as AM and Iwobi as LMF/AML And Moses and RMF/AMR. Ighalo as no.9) or in a 4-3-3 (The midfield three of Ndidi-Etebo-Mikel and attack of Ighalo flanked by Moses and Iwobi).
and etebo pass better than onazi and can also score goals too....

I will start him over onazi anyday anytime....
when we really need score goals...
but when defending onazi interceptions is an asset

I've been saying the same thing on here for ages now. It would do our build up play a whole world of good. I'd play Etebo on the left so he and Iwobi can swap position during the game. Etebo with his crazy stamina would help defensively out wide and in the middle if required.
I agree with you...on this.
but to play and win Croatia.

it gonna depend on our wingers... that game will be won via wings.

Sir you are right. My formation is not to suit any player but to get result.

I remember Westerhoff did it against Zambia when Finidi failed woefully in the first half and he did unusual by introduced Samson Siasia in the same first half who we all believe is not a winger and he did it well.

Also against South Africa in Lagos Bonfrere Jo did unusual and start both Finidi and Tijani and this destabilised SA and before they know what was going on they are down.

I want goals against Croatia and i need Nacho,Moses and Ighalo to start.
I still.think you don't play a misfit to get goals...the few gambles that later turned success stories you game up there are one out of many thousands.... it's like messing up a good player

playing Moses Simon on the flank can still birth goals...all the coach need do is to communicate his aggressive strategies to them...

I will rather have Nacho over Simeon and Musa though my opinion.
how many match have you ever seen nancho play as a winger...?
and what was his impact in those games...
these players should not be misfit for any roles...during this world cup...it so sure affect their productivity...
the world cup is not for testing these players on this various roles.... but put them in roles that best suit them...

for me...besides CF role...nancho best suit SS/AM role....
he can as well come in for Ighalo during the second half....or depends on the opponent' he can as well start ahead of him.

Thank you Chief icon4s.

I had the opportunity of watching U17 WC live at UAE and i can tell anybody that those guys were young cos i was very close to the team due to Awoniyi who was a year old when i graduated from Unilorin, his Dad was an area bro and they live closely to old university campus in Agbo oba area of Ilorin.

I can't even remember how Awoniyi started his career cos he was not even in the picture of the young boys playing football then in Ilorin especially in the stadium arena, just to tell you he was extremely young.

It was during U17 that my younger bro drew my attention saying "omo bros ti won bi nigba ye ni Tayo Awoniyi" meaning that Tayo Awoniyi na bros pikin o.

But really surprised is going for early marriage, just too early and definitely guys would be suspicious of his age except someone like you or me who knew him very well.
I support his early marriage...
it kind of show he is a responsible young man...
though I am not trying to say.... others not married are not responsible.

Echiejile: I’m Focusing On World Cup, Not New Deal With Cercle Brugge
3 May 2, 2018

Elderson Echiejile says that is not thinking about signing a contract extension with Cercle Brugge, but concentrating on being in great form to make Super Eagles final squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Echiejile’s six-month loan deal at the Belgian club expires this summer, and he has an offer to extend his stay at the newly promoted top division side, Completesportsnigeria.com gathered.

Cercle Brugge defeated Beerschot Wilrijk 3-1 in March to seal their return to the elite division after three years.

“The World Cup is around the corner and we’ll see what happens next,” Echiejile told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“I haven’t thought about it yet; I have another a year contract with Monaco and I am very happy. I just think about the end of the season and to stay in good shape and form for the World Cup.”

Echiejile played for Turkish side Sivasspor at the start of the 2017/18 season before joining Cercle Brugge in January in search of regular football.

The left-back who missed out on the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil due to injury, has made 53 international appearances for the Super Eagles and scored twice.
