It's not every day you find a man prepare himself for the glorious life hereafter. A day after these photos were taken on the day of his graduation from Bible School, he checked out quietly without hassling anyone at age 88. He knew his time had come but he wasn't going to leave without checking up on his children. So he put calls through. Who really does that? lol

How could we have known it was the last we would be hearing from him?

He'd be laid to rest on Saturday, the 12th of May, 2018 at Kalio Ama in Okrika, at the exact spot he chose by himself. You think this is made up right? Well, you'd hear from others too.

man who stood by his friend during her cancer treatments and later married her tell story

A Nigerian man has taken to Twitter to share his amazing love story with his wife. According to him, his wife was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago when they were just friends. He stood by her and even shaved off his hair after she lost hers due to chemotherapy.

He proposed and got to married to her after she beat cancer. Read his story below

Hard-wearing former militant leader, Ateke Tom, has been corronated in a grandeur ceremony as the Amayanabo (King) of Okochiri in Okirika, Rivers state.

He was earlier installed on Wednesday by Okrika and Ogu/Bolo Divisional Council Of Chiefs in his country home.

However, in furherance of the peace building measures across the state, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has charged the new Amanyanabo of Okochiri town, HRM King Ateke Michael Tom( JP) to continue to invest in the sustenance of peace in Okrika.

Governor Wike advised the newly crowned monarch against being used to disunite the people of Okrika town.

In an address during the coronation of King Ateke Michael Tom (JP) at Okochiri town on Saturday, Governor Wike charged the traditional ruler to further establish himself as an agent of unity and progress.

While congratulating the Traditional Ruler for his successful coronation as the King of Okochiri, Governor Wike lauded the people of the town for installing a traditional ruler who fought for them.

The governor assured the people of Okrika Town that his administration will continue to deliver on projects in the area.

He noted that the process for the recognition of the traditional ruler, which includes presentation of a certificate of recognition will be done at the appropriate time, Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor, Electronic Media said in a statement on Saturday.

The governor said:”Let me on behalf of the Government and people of Rivers State congratulate King Ateke Michael Tom, Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom. With what you have seen here today, it is a clear testimony that you are loved by your people.

“That is why it is good for each and everyone of us to defend the interest of our people at any given time , so that your people will honour you at the appropriate time. Today, because of what you have done for this kingdom, the people have called you back home to come and be their new king.

“I want to proclaim by the Special Grace of God and by the powers conferred on me as the Rivers State Governor, Government of Rivers State will recognise this Amanyanabo of Okochiri town. What that means is that we will invite you to Government House, so that we present to you certificate of recognition”.

In his remarks, Former Minister of Transport and Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Abiye Precious Sekibo, commended Governor Wike for embarking on meaningful projects in Okochiri Town .

He said the completion of critical projects in Okrika Town at large have consolidated the governor’s support base.



Sekibo further advised other ex-Nigeria Delta agitators to emulate the new monarch, King Adele Michael Tom (JP) in maintaining peace in their various domains.

The coronation was marked by traditional dances, traditional rites and musical displays. Thousands of Okrika people witnessed the event.

According Benjamin, the sale of the application documents, which was scheduled to start on November 22, suffered delay due to the publishers’ inability to print the 1.8 million copies of the forms before the deadline.



“This postponement was due to the delay in meeting agreed deadline by the publisher of the Compulsory Reading Text meant for prospective candidates for the 2018 UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations).
“The publisher had promised to deliver all the texts for the 2018 candidates on or before November 7 but as at close of work today, the publisher has not provided the 1.8 million copies required.
“This development has painfully forced the Board to shift the date from Wednesday, November 22 to a date to be announced soon,” he said.
Benjamin added that a new date would be announced soon and urged intending applicants to visit its website and familiarise themselves with the application procedures.

“All reforms and the process of registration have been made very friendly and easy for candidates desirous of applying for the 2018 exercise.
“The advertisement when out will explain step by step the processes of obtaining the application e-pins and registration,” Benjamin concluded.

SAVED TO SAVE SOULS

This handsome 12years boy comes to my workshop every other morning to sell groundnut to my workers. He is so experienced in the business that he knows how to convince you to spend your last cash buying his product.
Last week, I called him into my office and asked him why he is selling groundnut by this time of the day when he should be in school. Favour Emmanuel told me he doesn't enjoy selling groundnut but ever since they lost their father, life has become so difficult for them. They couldn't maintain their rent in Rivers state after the death of their father, so they moved back to Aba and joined their grandma in her one room apartment. Groundnut has been our only means of survival he said.

I told Favour to go home and bring his mother. The rest of the day with favour and his mum was spent with pool of tears of joy as I told them I will take care of Favour's Education all through Secondary and Tertiary level.

Even though First Term is half spent, I still summoned courage and begged a school principal to partner with me in taking favour out of the street by admitting him irrespective of his lateness. Finally, favour got registered, school fees and acceptance fees fully paid, school uniforms, shoes, books and other items fully provided.

The Nigerian Air Force has been sentenced to death by hanging Airman Kalu Bernard, for killing his lover, Solape Oladipupo on March 12, 2017.

The 21-year-old was found guilty of six out of eight count charges which included murder, house breaking, impersonation, attempted murder.

Yesterday August, 15th, the President of the court, Gp. Capt. Elisha Bindul sentenced him to death by hanging, subject to the confirmation of the conveying authority.

The defence counsel, Abimiku Ewuga who had earlier begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying the accused was his family breadwinner,later told reporters that he would appeal the judgement.

Kalu had on March 12, 2017, killed his lover Oladipupo at her Corporal and Below Quarters, Compound 9, Air Force Base, Makurdi, after he suspected her of having an affair.
