President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday inaugurated a multi-million naira bridge in Kano and named it after the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the bridge was constructed by the Federal Government at Kundila Roundabout on the ever busy Zaria Road to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Speaking at the ceremony, Jonathan said that the project was in line with the road resuscitation programme of his administration’s transformation agenda.
He said that the new flyover would help to improve commercial activities in the ancient city, adding that the Federal Government was poised to restore the lost glory of Kano as a commercial nerve centre.
According to him, the flyover will also ease traffic congestion and promote socio-economic activities between the state and other parts of the country.
Jonathan said, “This is part of my administration’s commitment toward making life easy for the people in the country.
“I am today commissioning this important edifice with great jubilation and pride.
“I won’t conclude my remarks without paying a glowing tribute to our father, the late Emir Bayero whose immense contribution made Kano what it is today.”
On the forthcoming general elections, the president said the time had come for every Nigerian to make a good choice.
He said the PDP-led government had remarkable achievements, stressing that he had almost fulfilled his mission as contained in his seven-point agenda.
In his remarks, the Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen, said the completion of the bridge was a landmark achievement which would bring economic development to the state and the region http://www.punchng.com/news/jonathan-inaugurates-multi-million-naira-bridge-in-kano/

Politics › Chekwas Okorie Disowns Inclusion Of UPP In APC Alliance by HzRF(op): 7:22am On Mar 21, 2015 |
THE Presidential Candidate of the United Progressive Party, UPP, Chief Chekwas Okorie has disassociated his party from its recent inclusion of political parties loyal to the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential election. Chief Okorie described the inclusion of his party in the alleged loyalty to the APC presidential candidate as “inconceivable, malicious and a wicked political blackmail to drag the name of our Party to a gang-up we know nothing about.” He further added, “We have tried to the best of our ability to avoid hate-speeches, campaign of calumny, denigration of elder statesmen and public office holders and the use of acerbic language likely to heat up the polity in all our campaign up till this time.” In a statement through the Director-General, Chekwas Okorie Presidential Campaign Orgonisation, COPCO, Dr. Ugorji O. Ugorji, in Abuja, weekend, Chief Okorie said he found the inclusion of UPP in the midst of 12 political parties that had pledged loyalty to the APC’s Presidential candidate insulting. According to him, “We find the inclusion of our name in the list of these compromising Political Parties in absolute bad test.” He said that UPP in its inaugural National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of 13th November 2012 zoned its Presidential slot to the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria and that the policy statement was actualized on the 11th of December, 2014 at the Party’s National Convention held at Aba where he emerged as the presidential flag bearer and Alhaji Bello Umar as vice presidential candidate. He further said that the UPP had commenced campaign for the coveted office of President thereafter with as much commitment and diligence as it could muster, adding, “It is a common knowledge that our Presidential Candidate Chief (Dr) Chekwas Okorie has emerged as one of the three foremost contenders for the office of President of Nigeria.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/chekwas-okorie-disowns-inclusion-of-upp-in-apc-alliance/ |

LogicPower: This bigoted, discredited right-wing scum is not even being smart here; thus, if some desperado has paid him from the looted campaign dollars to make a last ditch effort at demonizing Buhari from abroad, the desperado should demand a full refund because he merely parroted repeated and rehashed old lie that GMB is a Muslim extremist.
Only an old, confused, intellectually lazy, hateful, scare-mongering right-wing propagandist would would fail to notice that NIGERIANS have since REJECTED this old lie about Buhari being a 'religious extremist'.
The old right-wing scare-monger should ask FFK and others who have been spewing it almost on daily basis, has it ever been effective?
It must be very frustrating for GEJ campaign team that all the smear campaign against Buhari by sponsored local and foreign elements like this bigoted Republican propagandists have failed; in spite of all these lies, the popularity of the people's general keeps souring, and the change train keeps moving, with even greater momentum. It is now only 7 days to the arrival of the change train at the Victory Station. U have problems what has ffk got to do with |
