June Writing Challenge: Day 5 From Values to Vices: How Desperation is Reshaping Our Society The writing challenge continues today, and today's topic will be interesting. If you read to the end. I have been receiving feedback on the contents which I'm writing, that it is lengthy. I will ensure that during this challenge, not all days will contain a lengthy words, some will be brief and succinct. Therefore, kindly endeavor to read to the end. In today's content, I will be writing about one of the factor that is contributing to the degradation of society in terms of moral. In recent ages, our society is depreciating in it's cultural values and norms. The religion which we rely on as guidance is fading off and people no longer take the advice or preaching of cleric seriously. The introduction of modern civilization has cost us our decent moral and cultural values, enable the acclaimed Gen Z generations to see our norms as superstition and disregard our ancestors taboo. One of the tools that is really affecting our society nowadays is Desperation. It is one of the tools of social engineering that is making our society to be an unsafe place. Many of the recent generations intend to try new things, looking forward to see the pleasure therein and are desperate to see the end result. This is one of the reason why, social vices is increasing nowadays because younger ones intend to try new things and are eager to see the end point. This is why, Cannabis consumption is very rampant nowadays, because many intend to see the pleasure derived from it and from there, they become addicted and hence they will become cannabis dependant if care is not taken. Some are facilitated by seeing their role model consuming the said substance and with curiosity, they will become a consumer. In addition, many of the social vices and maladjustment are enabled through going to the extreme to get what they want. This is why, people no longer have fear of their parents, cleric and tradition in whatever they are doing. The males are desperate to earn money, and the females are very desperate to earn towards meeting their advance societal demand and hence the current state of the nation.......to be continued. Today's content will end here, and this subject matter might be continue some other time. Thanks for Reading through. I thank you Day 5 out of Day 30 Anwo Sunday Adedeji 5/06/2024 |
June Writing Challenge: Day 4 The Writing Challenge: A Journey Through Nigeria's Trials The journey of a thousand miles start with a step. This step has been taken since day one of the writing challenge. Today content will be brief as the power supply is getting restored momentarily. I would have pitched earlier but due to lack of power supply it was delayed. Today was a very busy day as it starts with confusion if the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress will fold up on the strike Action. I was busy monitoring this, and on the other side, managing my phone battery percentage. Lo and behold, I eventually had a flat battery. I was later favored by a good Samaritan who enabled me use his power bank to charge my phone. While my phone battery is off, I later got the news that NLC and TUC has relaxed the strike Action by one week to further discuss their stands. Well, this stand is a very good one. The negotiations continue and if the meeting does not go well, there is tendency for continuity. How I wished to further more on the NLC,TUC and FG saga but heritage bank situation has come in. That, the CBN has revoke their license and it is hard for customer to withdraw their hard earned money. This country is a cruise tho, how on earth will a bank license and supervise by CBN fold up to the extent that, customer can not withdraw their money. What a country called Nigeria! Today episode will have to end here, and it will be continued tomorrow. Thanks for reading through. I thank you. Day 4 out Day 30 Anwo Sunday Adedeji 4/06/2024 |
June Writing challenge Day 3. Workers' Rights Matter: The Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress Strike Today is the third day of the challenge and my momentum is in high spirit, my moral is high. Nothing will discourage me. I intend to write our society but the The Nigerian workers and Trade union has enabled a script which caught my attention. It is pertinent to note that, the beauty of a writing challenge is to make it natural, realistic and original. This is why, talking of the recent happening and matter that concern the majority should made up one's interest in the writes. The Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress has conjoined to declare an indefinite strike Action owing to the fact that, the minimum wage be increased and Hike in the Electricity tariff be decreased and also, an end to zoning of people into bands by the Electricity Companies. It will be on good notion if the leader of both union has the interest of the masses on their end, and also have the interest of their members. Then, this strike Action would have been a long over due action which should have commenced since. A nation that spend #90+ billion on Pilgrims and failed to approve minimum wage for workers, is such a joker. The NASS that in few weeks pass into law a new national anthem but failed to pass into reading the minimum wage (living wage) bill into law, and plays role in the negotiations is nothing but.....to be continued. Well, at the very end, our people will still commit everything into God hands, after we maintain sentiment during election, discriminate about tribes, discriminate about religion, discriminate about party, some even engage in votes buying, now that it is pay back time. They returned to the Almighty. The Strike Action has start now, and it can be called off any time and day. During this period of time, use any available resources to gain something. Today episode is somewhat brief, tomorrow might also be succinct but next tomorrow? I can not tell. Thanks for reading through. I thank you Day 3 out of Day 30 Anwo Sunday Adedeji 3/06/2024 |
June Writing Challenge. What tomorrow will unfolds, nobody knows which is why, it is common in the Yoruba ancestral culture that, a Diviner must consult the Orunmila in every 5 (five) days to ask about the upcoming proceeding. I begin this writing challenge without knowing the challenges therein, maybe I should have consult the Oracle. Yesterday was the first day of the challenge and it was just full of rants from the beginning till end. Well, In today episode it gonna be mind blowing and bitter truth. The current trends in Nigeria society is fading up the ancestral cultural behavior, although it has been depreciating right from the onset with the introduction of western religion via Islam and Christianity. The Westerners, brought there religion together with their culture to fashion and reshape us in there own way. They make baseless ideas and opinions to turn us against our ancestral ideology, and background. The practice of believing or worshipping Omnipotent must come in a clean way, but in some parts; it was read that Colonizer brought Christianity through slave trade, and it is allegedly said that Islam is spread in the East through conquering of sovereignty with wars. This are contemporary issues which are still happening nowadays with some that are spicy to change the older narratives. The current module operandi is discrimination to make sure religious center become a profit generating platform where members can partakers to attract non members to join. This is one of the tool that is being used nowadays within the church. The Arab are now using this same ideology in a different way, through provision of grant for the construction of mosques in various community for members to worship in their society. The African society is very easy to manipulate and we have little or no interest in ourselves or our background. This is why, most of the laws, doctrine and morality of our land, laid down by our ancestors to guide our conduct, decision and caution us are considered as superstition and laws of the Westerners cum Easterners are considered as divine and must be duly followed. Many scholars have begin to unravel the secret and make clear interpretation of Westerners and Easterners culture embedded in the religion which we follow blindly and left our own. It should also be on record that, modern socialization is also a tool that is fading way our culture as the youths no longer have regard for our culture. They believe that everything is of old, and new things have come to set in. As they were polished and manipulated by the modern civilization. I will have to end today's episode of the writing challenge here, and continue thereafter tomorrow. Yesterday was full of rants and all over, so today contains something worthwhile. Therefore we can't say, what tomorrow will unfolds. Unless we consult the divination. Thanks for reading through. I thank you. Day 2 out of Day 30. Anwo Sunday Adedeji Djfocus 2/06/2024 |
The Struggle is Real: Day 1 of My Writing Challenge June writing Challenge. Today is the first day of my writing challenge, and I have been reminiscing on what to write about but It is not coming. I have wrack my brain hence no topic is coming through. What should I write about? Any guess, oh! no guess. Geezz... How about making money online? The Nigerian people do not need that. They love to earn through agriculture, and other informal way. Youths of nowadays love to be either a middle man or woman or Social Media CEO, or a sport betting analyst or gambler. In short online influencer or content creator. So the Nigerian youths are living in a great blossom of richness. What a great country. Nigeria.! Oh! Today is the first day of the writing challenge and this content is not interesting as it is unfolding. I'm confident that, only 50% of the reader will read to this paragraph many will have swipe to the next slide. To those that make it here, congratulations as I'm not unleashing anything special than to keep roaming in between words. If you are to rate this content. What would you say? Bad or very bad. Well say the truth, as they say it will set us free. Thanks for your thoughtful opinion. Yeah very good. Well, on the other hand, it might be bad today but tomorrow? Nobody knows tomorrow. Writing challenge is not an easy task. For today, I might not have a reasonable article to pitch, which does not postulate that, I will still have reasonable article to pitch tomorrow. In the world of cryptocurrency, few events carry as much weight and anticipation as the Bitcoin Halving. This process, which occurs roughly every four years, has significant implications for the entire cryptocurrency landscape, often triggering intense debates within the blockchain community. To truly grasp the importance of the Bitcoin Halving, it is crucial to understand what it entails and why it garners such widespread attention and speculation. What Is the Bitcoin Halving? The Bitcoin Halving, also known as the "Halvening," refers to a pre-coded event that happens in the Bitcoin protocol every 210,000 blocks (roughly every four years). It reduces the reward miners receive for validating blockchain transactions. This process is designed to control the issuance of new bitcoins and maintain its scarcity, thus ensuring a limited BTC supply. Essentially, the halving cuts the BTC rewards given to miners in half. In the original Bitcoin whitepaper published by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008, it was specified that there would be a finite supply of 21 million bitcoins. This fixed supply mechanism was introduced to prevent inflation and mimic the scarcity of precious metals like gold. By regulating the rate at which new bitcoins are generated, the protocol aims to create a deflationary currency with the potential to hold its value or appreciate over time. The Halving, therefore, plays a pivotal role in controlling the rate at which new bitcoins are introduced into circulation, slowing down the production of new coins over time. When Bitcoin first came into existence in 2009, miners received 50 BTC as a reward for each block they successfully added to the blockchain. The first Halving event took place in 2012, reducing the block reward to 25 BTC. Subsequent Halvings in 2016 and 2020 further decreased the reward to 12.5 and 6.25 bitcoins, respectively. The next Bitcoin Halving will reduce the block reward to 3.125 BTC and is expected to occur in April 2024 (when the block height reaches 840,000). What Happens to Your Bitcoin After Halving? After a Bitcoin halving event, your existing Bitcoin holdings remain unchanged. The halving process doesn't directly affect the number of bitcoins you hold. However, it can indirectly impact Bitcoin’s price and various aspects of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, which is precisely why investors, traders, and crypto enthusiasts pay such close attention to it. Here are a few reasons why the Bitcoin Halving is significant and why people should care: 1. Supply and demand dynamics With the Halving reducing the rate at which new bitcoins are created, the supply side is constrained. This, in turn, affects the balance between supply and demand, potentially leading to shifts in the market value of Bitcoin. Basic economic principles dictate that when the supply decreases while demand remains constant or increases, the value of the asset is likely to rise. 2. Market volatility The Bitcoin Halving has historically been associated with heightened volatility in the cryptocurrency market. Speculators and investors closely monitor the market dynamics leading up to and following the event, trying to predict its impact on the price of Bitcoin. This anticipation often fuels price fluctuations and increased trading activity. 3. Implications for miners As the reward for mining new blocks is halved, the profitability of Bitcoin mining is directly impacted. This reduction in rewards can pose challenges for miners, especially those operating with higher energy costs and less efficient hardware. Miners need to assess the viability of their operations post-Halving and adjust their strategies accordingly. This often leads to shifts in the mining landscape, with smaller or less efficient miners potentially being pushed out of the market while larger, more resourceful operations continue to thrive. 4. Technological and community development The Bitcoin Halving serves as a significant milestone that prompts discussions and debates within the blockchain community. It encourages developers and stakeholders to explore innovative solutions to address the challenges posed by the changing dynamics of the Bitcoin ecosystem. This drive for technological advancement often leads to the development of new tools, protocols, and initiatives aimed at improving the scalability, efficiency, and security of the Bitcoin network, ultimately fostering its long-term sustainability and growth. 5. Long-term investment implications For long-term investors, the Bitcoin Halving represents a critical event that underscores the asset's deflationary nature and potential as a store of value. The predictable scarcity introduced by the Halving mechanism positions Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation and economic instability, appealing to individuals and institutions looking to diversify their investment portfolios. The Bitcoin Halving is not merely a technical adjustment. It’s a fundamental pillar of the cryptocurrency ecosystem that shapes the narrative and trajectory of Bitcoin's future. As each Halving event unfolds, it amplifies discussions around the intrinsic value of Bitcoin, its role in the broader financial landscape, and its potential as a transformative force in the world of digital finance. |

Ayisha Osori The current state of affairs of our nation – to keep it short , simple and understated – is not satisfactory . We can and must do better . It is the understanding that we can do better that resulted in a certain six- letter word doing so well as a campaign slogan in 2015 but now we know a little better. What do we know ? At least , two things. We know that if you dress a goat in a lion ’ s mane , the goat still won ’ t pounce on and kill a buffalo . In fact, it will have a zero desire to do so . Some of us are beginning to understand that if you have a sausage- making factory, everything that goes in will come out shaped like a sausage, so tinkering with what the factory is designed to produce is important. The latter is not the focus today . The focus is on how to differentiate the goats from the lions – for those interested in identifying lions ( not necessarily just weeding out goats ) . By my count , there are 20 people who are or might be aspiring to be President of Nigeria in 2019 . I admit that some of these 20 have not shown their hands but their names are being circulated – maybe, as part of a ruse or to test the waters. Rumours play an important role in feeding the political economy and helping with the , let’ s call it , negotiating possibilities and so we discount rumours at our peril . So , at least , 13 of these 20 are seasoned politicians . The type which have marinated in the juices of government positions for years – the ones for whom when you read their resumes you are tempted to say “ Was government created for you?” They have been governors , legislators, ministers, ex this ex that, and do not discriminate between civilian and military governments – they are loyal to all . The remaining seven are newbies . Some have never contested political office before and some have but have not succeeded. They are outside the favoured generation of 70-year -olds who have been in power since they were in their 30s and if reactions on social media platforms are anything to go by , these seven ( and the ones to come who will fall into this category ) face the most resistance from voters or internet warriors who have strong opinions about everything but might not vote . The first step in the lion -identifying process is to be open. Do not dismiss candidates because they do not have a history of being government children used to sucking on the feeding bottle of a government designed to keep the cream for government officers while the citizens get zero per cent fat milk. In other words, to continue to use food examples that will resonate – our governments ( executive , legislative and judiciary) keep the drumsticks , thighs, gizzard , breasts and sometimes even the wings of the chicken and give us the neck , head and claws to share . It should not be a good thing at this point in our collective underdevelopment that a person has been around for a long time. The expertise we need to move the country forward is in books , development agencies and even the experiences of average human beings doing extraordinary things in a society where , again to put it simply , little works the way it should. The only advantage of a long career in politics and governance is knowing how things are done in a way that has not benefitted the majority and being vested in political practices that should make us question the legitimacy of our electoral process. Two , instead of focusing solely on individuals , let’ s begin to talk about qualities. What does Nigeria need in a president today – in the present times, with our current challenges and opportunities ? In a world where by 2020, 1. 7 megabytes ( equal to two small novels ) of new information is being created every second for every human being and where climate change is affecting lifestyles and productivity , what type of leadership qualities should the President have ? Do we need a President who is the strong silent type or a President with a wide, diverse network of talented people? When you have your three or five qualities that are most important for the person who will lead Nigeria between 2019 and 2023 , don ’ t stop there . Ask why these qualities are important and how they will contribute to improving our lives meaningfully . Now , you have something concrete to assess all the aspirants – both fresh and stale and you can sound a bit more thoughtful when you defend your choice. Third , don ’ t spare the rod . Put those you are supporting under the microscope. The hard work of listing the qualities that are most important to you has been done; now engage with the aspirants to ensure that they are clear on how they are going to deliver on the things that are important to you. With the right type of engagement and constructive criticism , aspirants and eventually candidates will be forced to think through their strategy and their plans for improving Nigeria . We want to encourage those who have spent time reflecting deeply about our serious , complex challenges and how best to get us to catch up with our peers in Africa and around the world. Finally , do not be distracted by those who will tell you “ this is not what wins elections ” and that only the stomach infrastructure adherents matter. This is not true. Every worthy aspirant to the Presidency will know that the Nigerian voter reflects the full range of diversity and is a mix of what is awesome and discouraging about being Nigerian and as such the communication cannot all be throwing rice around . A serious candidate who knows what is at stake will render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar ’ s and unto God the things that are God’ s: which means as far as communication is concerned , the audience is segmented and the messages designed to resonate which different groups . If you are reading this, then it is unlikely you will be swayed by N 500 and if any candidate focuses only on a dog whistling to his or her base, that’ s a sign that this person is a goat, dressed up as a lion . Here is a comforting bit of information that I know courtesy of the 67 million Initiative – that there are “approximately 67 million people in Nigeria currently between the ages of 18 and 40, this accounts for more than half the population of the voting demographic. ” This is a number larger than any of the combined numbers who have voted in any of the presidential elections since 1999 . If enough of us want to vote on issues and for the candidates who are “ fresh” or who have fresh ideas …there are enough of us . Stay focused . source: http://gidivibe.com/three-ways-to-assess-presidential-candidates/ |

Onwuka was said to have sold the baby to one Maxwell Agu, who claimed to be running a government registered orphanage at Orlu, Imo State . Esu said she did not know if her boyfriend was using charms to manipulate her, adding that he had never given her any money despite stealing six children which he sold . She said , “ He ( Sidney) always sent me to do anything and I would go without hesitation . I even sold my daughter to him , but he didn’ t give me ordinary N 5 .” The boyfriend , Onwuka, said he had sold six babies to the operator of the orphanage , including his own child , adding that the operator paid him N 200 , 000 for his child It was learnt that the priest became involved in the matter when one Elizabeth, a member of the parish , contacted him for help to adopt a male child . The cleric , during an interview with journalists , said he contacted the operator of the orphanage because he knew that he could help the desperate woman. He said, “ This woman, Elizabeth, met me after adoration and said she wanted to adopt a male child . I contacted Maxwell ( Agu) because I know that he has an orphanage . He brought a form for adoption . “He later brought the baby to our parish together with Joy ( Esu ) . I called Elizabeth and she said she liked the baby boy. The woman handed N 750, 000 to me and and I gave it to Maxwell . He said she needed to pay additional N 50 , 000 and I then asked what the money was meant for. He said the money was for the processing of adoption papers and certificate . I called him later after the payment was made , but Maxwell said the certificate was not ready . “I wanted to help the lady and that was what I was after because people come to me for help and I help them . I am in shock now . This is my 32 years in the ministry, but look at how I crashed. “My hands , legs and entire body are in the trap now , how do I extricate myself ? I only wanted to help the woman; I had no other intention.” Elizabeth, who adopted the baby, said she had six grown up daughters but wanted to have a male child because of the negative effect of not having a male child in Igbo culture . She said she contacted the reverend father to help her because she did not know how to go about it . Elizabeth, who claimed to be a widow, said she regretted seeking a male child for adoption , adding that her daughters had always assured her that they would make her proud . Olusola Fabiyi , Success Nwogu , Justin Tyopuusu, Godwin Isenyo and Kayode Idowu The Jama’ atu Nasril Islam , under the leadership of the Sultan of Sokoto , Alhaji Sa’ ad Abubakar III , on Thursday lambasted the Federal Government and security agencies for the handling of the abduction of 110 Dapchi pupils . The school was attacked on February 19, 2018 , while 110 pupils were yet to be accounted for. The group said the abduction of the girls “is the most potent action to frustrate the girl-child education . ” “No parent now is comfortable, especially in the North-East , to allow his daughter to go to such callously unprotected schools ; and the North is the loser , ” it added . The Secretary General of the JNI , Dr Abubakar Khalid -Ailyu , in a statement in Kaduna on Thursday said a serious government would have “by now sanctioned those implicated in the Dapchi girls ’ travails . ” The JNI warned that government must not spare anyone found culpable in the abduction of the Dapchi girls . It kicked against any probe, noting that such always ended up in waste baskets . The JNI lamented that after four years of the unresolved Chibok girls abduction, the country was witnessing “yet another unfortunate and avoidable abduction of Dapchi girls .” It blamed the lapses on the government and security operatives , saying , “There is apparent lack of synergy between security operatives in Yobe State , or there is active connivance with the insurgents , especially if reports of media altercations between the army and the police are anything to go by .” The group wondered why the abduction happened months before the 2019 general elections , saying it was a replica of the Chibok girls ’ abduction of 2014. The group said, “Are there orchestrated plans somewhere to make a case for more security votes?” Dapchi schools remain closed 11 days after Schools in Dapchi, in the Bursari Local Government Area of Yobe State , have remained shut 11 days after pupils of Government Girls Science and Technical College were attacked by Boko Haram insurgents . The Secretary General of ‘ Dapchi Abducted Schoolgirls’ Parents, ’ a body created by parents of the missing girls , Mallam Bukar Kachalla , conducted one of our correspondents round the empty schools in Dapchi , saying the schools were shut on the directive of the state government . The heavy presence of army personnel in the town was said to have done little to make the government open the schools . The closure was said to have also affected private schools in the town. Kachalla said the primary concern of the parents was for the return of the girls. “Our prayers are for the girls to be brought back to us safely . We are calling on the Federal Government and the international community to assist in the rescue of the girls . “Parents are traumatised; so the government must act fast to help these distressed parents. “We don ’ t know the condition of the girls ; we don ’ t know whether they are eating or not. As parents, we are deeply worried , ” he said. Efforts to get the Yobe State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Mohammed Lamin , for comment on the closure of all the schools in Dapchi failed as his phone was switched off . PDP hails Reps’ probe of Dapchi abduction The Peoples Democratic Party has commended the House of Representatives for “its swift response to the PDP ’ s appeal to open an independent investigation into the abduction of the 110 Dapchi schoolgirls . The party said the action of the House in setting up an ad hoc committee to investigate the abduction underscored the legislators ’ consensus for a non-aligned inquest , particularly against the backdrop of speculations of conspiracy theory , conflicting reports and disagreement among government officials and agencies on the matter. The PDP National Publicity Secretary , Mr . Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Thursday said the party took cognisance of the fact that the House of Representatives, in approving the motion by Mr . Goni Lawan from Yobe State , shared the apprehensions that there could have been a deliberate design to hide the facts of the matter, which underpins the demand by Nigerians to know the truth . Ologbondiyan urged the House of Representatives not to lose sight of the submission from Lawan, which he claimed collaborated the claims by the Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam , that the abduction was preceded by the withdrawal of troops guarding the area . He said, “Nigerians are eagerly looking up to the National Assembly for credible findings . “This is more so as Nigerians have lost faith in the investigative committee set up by the Federal Government on this matter as reports from various other committees set up by this administration on important national issues have never been implemented by the government. ” Ologbondiyan appealed to the lawmakers , to make use of the powers conferred on them by the 1999 Constitution ( as amended ) , to summon and investigate relevant security agencies , cabinet ministers and all other officials whose assignments he said , dwelt on the abduction. He also charged the House to unravel the source of the misleading rescue report which he alleged frustrated immediate actions that “ could have led to the rescue of our girls. ” Ensure safe return of abducted girls , NBA , ECWA women tell FG The President of the Nigerian Bar Association , Mr . Abubakar Mahmoud, and the women fellowship of the Evangelical Church Winning All have urged the Federal Government to ensure the safe rescue of the schoolgirls . They stated that the abduction of the girls was painful , adding that all efforts should be made to rescue them . While Mahmoud spoke during the NBA National Executive Committee meeting in Ilorin , Kwara State , on Thursday , the South-West Leader , ECWA Women wing , Mrs . Florence Ibilola , spoke during a prayer for the release of the girls on the sidelines of a media briefing on the 75 th anniversary conference of ECWA women fellowship. Mahmoud said the abduction of the Dapchi girls was painful considering that some pupils of the Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State , were also abducted. He said , “ The country has continued to face significant challenges in the area of security . We have witnessed the terrible event in Taraba , Benue and several other states that have led to loss of hundreds of lives and property arising from heightened conflict between herdsmen and farmers. “In Zamfara, we witnessed heightened banditry which is inexplicable in a modern state . “NBA condemns these killings and calls on the FG to do address these security challenges . “This dastardly act of the kidnap ( of Dapchi schoolgirls ) by terrorists has great impact on national security and the girl- child education . NBA wishes to condemn the abduction of these girls and call on FG to secure the safe return of these children to their parents and their communities . We further call on the government to review the security of all schools . “This event in Dapchi represents one of the greatest failures of the Nigerian state ; the failure to guarantee safe learning environment to its most vulnerable segment of its population. “We urge the government to do whatever is necessary , including seeking appropriate international assistance, to secure the release of these girls and to reunite them with their families. ” Ibilola, who with other women of ECWA prayed for the safe rescue or release of all abducted people and other national challenges , charged the Federal Government to show more commitment towards the rescue of the pupils . She said , “ As we continue to pray for these girls and for the country at large, we are appealing to the Federal Government to do something about these girls . We pray that very soon, they will be returned to their homes.” Residents hold prayer for schoolgirls The people of Fika in Yobe State say they will hold special prayer sessions for the safe return of the Dapchi schoolgirls on Friday ( today ) . In a statement on Thursday by the community , the prayer was slated to commence on Friday March 2, 2018 . The statement read in part , “ Concerned about the attack on Dapchi town which resulted in the abduction of innocent 110 pupils of Government Science Technical College , the Emirate has urged all imams, mallams, worshippers and mosques to commence rigorous prayers for the safe return of the abducted Dapchi Schoolgirls. “The prayers would commence tomorrow Friday , 2nd March, 2018 immediately after Juma ’ at prayers at Fika Emirate Central Mosque in Potiskum town . “May Allah answer our prayers and return our Dapchi schoolgirls healthy. ” Parents lament failure to secure girls ’ release Salisu Husseini, the father of Hauwa Salisu, a 14 -year - old SS 1pupils who was among those abducted, lamented the continued stay of the pupil and other girls with Boko Haram insurgent , adding that his family members had been having sleepless nights . “My wife has been crying and the whole thing is making her to lose focus; she is becoming forgetful of late. The family is looking up to me for credible information about the release of the girl, which is not forthcoming . “We are praying and trusting Allah to come to our aid ; but even at that, there is no information. The incident is like a nightmare , ” he said. Other parents, who spoke to one of our correspondents , urged the Federal Government to do everything humanly possible to secure the release of the girls. “What we want is the release of our daughters. Our concern is not about the endless delegations visiting our community on a daily basis . Our concern is the rescue of our girls; that is only then that we will be satisfied , ” one of the parents, Hajiya Aisha Umar . Military seeks information , cooperation The military on Thursday sought the cooperation of the media and residents , as well information that could lead to the recovery of the abducted girls . The appeal came after a meeting on “strategic plan to rescue the 110 abducted Dapchi schoolgirls .’’ At the meeting were Service Chiefs , who reportedly sat with the leadership of the counter -insurgency operation in the North-East , Operation Lafiya Dole . The Director , Defence Information , Brig . Gen. John Agim , said the Service Chiefs came to review the ongoing military operations, particularly the operation to get back the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls . Agim said , “ The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai , has solicited the cooperation of the media and other stakeholders in the ongoing operation to rescue the abducted girls. “The COAS has asked for maturity from the media, so that we don ’ t speculate . “For instance, there are some speculations that the military employed the services of fishermen and farmers. “These speculations can jeopardise the operations and endanger the lives of the abducted schoolgirls , as well as all those involved in the operations. “While the military is soliciting useful information from the general public, it has not singled out fishermen and farmers for this assistance to rescue the abducted girls , who are between the ages of 11 and 19. “Rather, the military is asking that anybody who has useful information to come forward . What we will be doing henceforth is to limit the way we publicised strategies used . “We will communicate the successes of the rescue operations, rather than talk about strategies. ” source: http://gidivibe.com/sultan-led-group-attacks-fg-over-girls-abduction/ |
