Orizu was arrested at the boarding gate of the Abuja airport on Sunday, December 22, 2024 during the outward clearance of passengers on Air France.
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested a 48-year-old businessman, Orizu Ifeanyi Arthur, while attempting to board an Air France flight 844 from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to Paris, France for ingesting 74 wraps of heroin and cocaine.

Orizu was arrested at the boarding gate of the Abuja airport on Sunday, December 22, 2024 during the outward clearance of passengers on Air France, NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said in a statement on Sunday.

Babafemi said, “When he was pulled aside for body scan, he turned down the request claiming his medical condition won’t allow him.

“He was thereafter taken into custody for excretion observation during which he excreted a total of 74 wraps of the Class A drugs over a period of seven days.

“In his statement, Orizu claimed he owns a shop at Balogun market, Lagos Island where he sells school and travelling bags, adding that he was promised 3,000 Euros upon successful delivery of the consignment in Paris. He left his base in Lagos for the Abuja airport to connect his Air France flight to Paris, hoping to escape detection.”

Lol I became a fan of Peter Obi when he contested with Atiku in 2019. I was a core member of Buhari 2015 Campaign (Abuja chapter). But I lost faith in Buhari after about 6 months of his presidency. Same with Soludo.

But no big deal, many of the people around Tinubu are people who used to criticize him.

I see him doing more than 5 or 6 terms there like David Mark, and maybe even leading the senate one day. As for the Uba brothers, Ifeanyi and Andy, none of them has a record of performance or competence. We only need people who can deliver food on the people's table and also develop the state. We also dont need people of questionable character and immorality. Meanwhile Peter Obi keeps telling laughable stories about zoning the governorship, maybe because he has already chosen somebody. Anambra people are very competent enough to make the decision for themselves. We are enlightened like American people who elected father and son {Bush} to the presidency within a space of 8 years. So Anambra is beyond zoning and ethnic divisions. We only consider things like merit, track record, enlightenment, intellect and competence. It is with these qualities in mind that I therefore propose a dream team of Professor Charles Soludo and Professor Dora Akunyili as governor and deputy governor respectively. It is fair to say that when you have two professors leading a state, the state can only profess excellence.

A Nigerian national, Theophilus Ejiofor, 48, has been jailed, while his South African girlfriend, Violet Magqoki, 28, was granted bail following their involvement in a drug-dealing incident in Lichtenburg, South Africa.

Ejiofor and his accomplice, 33-year-old Kgomotso Pholoholo, were arrested after selling drugs valued at R40,000, which included 649 mandrax tablets, 40 packets of crystal meth, and a plastic bag containing CAT drugs.

Lieutenant Colonel Tinyiko Mathebula, spokesperson for the Hawks in North West, confirmed the arrest, stating, “An undercover operation was conducted, which led to the arrest of the pair soon after selling drugs valued at R40,000.”

Mathebula also added, “A search was conducted at the Nigerian man’s house, where crystal meth with an estimated street value of R15,000 and CAT drugs valued at R6,000 were confiscated.”

His suspected accomplice, Pholoholo, was granted bail of R1,000, while Ejiofor remains in custody as his bail hearing is postponed.

Magqoki, who is believed to be Ejiofor’s girlfriend, faced an additional charge of corruption after attempting to bribe police officers to release him.

Mathebula said, “She was subsequently arrested and charged with corruption.”

Magqoki was granted bail, also set at R1,000, and her case, along with Ejiofor’s, will be revisited on Monday for further proceedings.

“The operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug dealing in the region,” Mathebula said.
