MomoriOchiro: It's not as easy as you think. This might be feasible for countries the US has an equal standing with, however, smaller countries like Nigeria can't try it. If we do, you might be surprised by the next action of the US. If the world reverts to Euro or Yuan It only requires like Europe, China and india accepting the currency for general trade That is all. |

Every country works for its own interest and not the "worlds". Actually using Dollars for international trade was an idea born by American leaders. It is why the dollars is stable despite American heavy borrowing They threaten any country not using the dollars for international trade with sanctions |

Politics › Re: Ajah Indigenes Storm Lagos Assembly, Protest Against Alleged Imposition Of King by Iamgrey5(m): 9:38pm On Nov 29, 2024 |
Eriokanmi:
. I knew you'd pull this out from Wikipedia which anyone can put up there , Including you and I. So, if I call Magodo (a yoruba word, meaning do not pound that morter) another name on Wikipedia tomorrow, you'd also go there and dig it out abi?
Akeja is different from Ikeja. Akeja is in ota, a small community after the lagos boundary with ogun, after crossing that bridge. That's akeja town which is different from Ikeja.
There's something which we always do as human. We like to distort history even though it is irrelevant in the present day generation. I heard the other day when someone said Ikeja is an abbreviation of Ikorodu and epe blablala. I think it's been removed by same blogger who put it there. This isn't peculiar to us. Arabs also do this a lot. Imagine them saying they own Egypt despite the obvious. Thank God for those mummies they exhumed which proved them wrong. Early egyptians were blacks. Otoman turks came and wiped them off for worshipping idols after alexander invasion from greece and settled there with his people and procreated for centuries, his people stayed and were enthroning themselves. Imagine apartheid was never stopped in south africa. In 1000 years to come, the whites in that era would lay claim on that country cos blacks would have been wiped out completely
The fact that Lagos is our land and nobody can take it away does not mean we shouldn't give credit to the early settlers. It's just like ijaw saying ęsę odo is an ijaw land . Wouldn't that be a white lie? That the ilajes occupy a LGA in Ondo doesn't change the fact that it's still an Ondo land and a yoruba territory by extension.
Try and be visiting museums once in a while maybe during your annual leave. You'd know a lot of history about people and territories they occupy in yorubaland. I was shocked the day I saw the old map of Lagos Island. That was the only place known as lagos in that era by the colonialists. All the bini names on that map have disappeared today. It was the colonialists who compiled them. It was in that book I learnt the only road that entered lagos was from abeokuta down to ota-orile agege, etc down to Iddo and eko, just a tiny footpath.
Imagine some people coining the meaning of eko? Till tomorrow, ask any edo person where he or she is going , they'd tell you Eko. They don't know here as lagos, na oyinbo name am lagos. Eko, idugaran, idumota, idumagbo, etc are edo words and are on that map. Iga means compound in bini. When next I visit again, I'd snap those pages and upload it here. Even where they used to bury lagos obas in Benin and the reason behind that practice until it was stopped. Oba akiolu once told this truth and some people got angry but history can't lie. The erelu of lagos too was verbally attacked, why?
Above all these, it's still our land but we need to always give credit to whom it's due. Do you know that, had the edos not settled here , lagos might not have been possibly discovered till today cos nothing was happening here than fishing about 600 years ago. The edos came and settled here. Seashore was the fastest route to bini in those days.
Before I conclude on issues like history, I read widely and consult widely. I also reason. After Edo it's awori people who can claim here by ownership cos a vast past of the mainland is owned by them. First of all, you still pull this off your arse. You didn't bring any single iota of evidence to back up your claim that ikeja was ever known as Ikedia or whatever. The bini people who came to Lagos Island came through Atlantic ocean not footpath, the ishekiri also have the same documentation. Hence they ended up on the island I don't really understand your lopsided history and they even documented they met people even on island. They met the white cap Awori chiefs on the land. History is clear the king in Ikeja is Awori Ikeja is surrounded by Aworis The history of Ikeja on the Lagos state government website is same as the one I posted. So where is this your Ikedhia history from ? |

Eriokanmi: Do we even know the meaning of Ajah or Ikehdia which was later changed to Ikeja for ease of pronunciation? If nobody knows this among the present generation, then why are we dragging things that would soon become a passing whim?
Those early settlers may not even remember them once lived here sef. Let peace reign and let the truth prevail. Ire oo. Which stupid Ikehdia was renamed to Ikeja Ikeja was formerly known as Akeja and is an Awori town It not even that hard to trace due to proximity to other Awori towns and the fact that the current Ruling house is Awori. Please stop pulling history from your arse. |
Politics › Re: Ajah Indigenes Storm Lagos Assembly, Protest Against Alleged Imposition Of King by Iamgrey5(m): 12:53pm On Nov 29, 2024 |
Olumogbon should be from the Oba of Lagos bini decedent.
The Balee of Ajah should the mixture of Ilaje, Awori and Tapa decedent of Ajah
Although Olumogbon is of Awori White cap chief origin of Lagos island.
The fight is to determine whether the original Kingdom of Eko extended to Ajah area of Lagos.
So it's purely a family affair. |
