The insurgents transported the girls back to Dapchi in the early hours of today.

Mrs Wakil, popularly called “Mama Boko Haram”, who appeared highly elated, told NAN that she received the news of the release of the girls with “great joy.”

She commanded the Federal Government and other parties who contributed to the development, and expressed the hope that the remaining girls including Chibok girls would also be released soon.



“I am highly elated over the release of the girls, it is a welcome development,” she said.

NAN report Mrs Wakil had earlier indicated interest to work towards the release of the abducted girls.

Also, Bashir Manzo, the chairman, Parents Association of the Dapchi Abducted Girls, said that they were happy over the development.

Manzo disclosed that they were currently taking head count of the girls, adding most of them had returned to their homes.

Similarly, Mr Maina Musa and Ayuba Alamson, parents of abducted Chibok school girls, expressed joy over the development.

They, however, tasked the government to secure the release of the remaining school girls in insurgents’ captivity.

“It is disheartening on our part to see that our remaining children are still languishing in the hands of Boko Haram insurgents in the past four years,” Alamson said.

Alamson noted that over 100 Chibok girls were in Boko Haram captivity since 2014.

He called on the international community to support the Federal Government secure release of the girls and others still in captivity.

NAN reports also that representatives of the Chibok Parents Association had this morning paid a solidarity visit to Dapchi, to rejoice with the affected families.

A prominent Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Ahmed Gumi, has condemned the grand wedding of the Kano state governor Abdullahi Ganduje's daughter Fatima and Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi's son, Idris, which lasted for two weeks. The first leg of the wedding took place on March 3rd in Kano while the last leg of the wedding took place in Ibadan, Oyo state over the weekend.



According to Premiumtimes, Sheik Gumi said the wedding where the couple were seen holding hands and cuddling is a ''disgrace to Islam and parenting in northern Nigeria''. He criticised the Sharia police in Kano for allowing such a thing to happen but were so quick to punish Nollywood actress, Rahma Sadau who was shoooting a music video in which she had body contact with the singer, Classic.



The muslim cleric warned the people of Kano to be cautious of what he called the “wrath of God” citing the example of the crisis in Borno State.

Recently, popular Nigerian reggae/dancehall king, Patoranking informed his fans in excitement about his invitation to speak at Harvard Business School. But a certain American man countered his claim by tagging the singer a liar.

It all played on IG after Pato shared a post that reads thus; “Was invited to speak at Harvard today.” Many of his fans saw that as a welcome development and congratulated him for the higher height he had attained. But in the middle of the compliments, a certain American man stormed in and countered Patoranking’s claim, tagging him a liar.

On the comment area of Patoranking’s post, the man wrote: “That's highly impossible.” The singer’s fans immediately turned against him, slamming him for lying to them and trying to claim to be what he isn’t. A woman in Kaduna has shown so much excitement after she delivered a set of twins with one of the babies having deformities on her body. The baby is reported to have been born with 4 hands and 3 legs.


The woman identified as Malama Hawwa’u Jamilu, 24, was safely delivered of the twin babies on Sunday, 25th February, 2018. However, the joy that greeted the birth was shortened. The local nurses that delivered the twins noticed that one of them was born with four hands and three legs.

News immediately spread into the community and people began to troop to Kabiru Kafinta’s house, where Hawwa’u and family are residing, to see things for themselves.

Surprisingly, Hawwa’u was not perturbed about the physique of her baby. According to Daily Trust, she considers the situation as the will of Allah

“Both of them are female. Of course, one would have loved to deliver the babies without any deformity. But since Allah in His infinite mercy had decided to create the twins like this, what can I do? This is why you see me relaxed, and I love them both.”

According to the woman. the only peculiar behaviour exhibited by the deformed twin, is a big appetite. Besides that, she claims her baby is just normal like any other baby.

“Have you forgotten that I carried her in my womb for nine months? I love my daughter and I know that she is human, despite her physical challenge.” She said

Hawwa’u said she has given birth three times before now, making the twins her fourth delivery during her six years of marriage.

Similarly, the woman said she doesn’t attend ante-natal sessions, saying that she delivered her other children at home, same as the twins.

“I think the problem is not failure to visit the hospital, because the twins are not my first. As I said earlier, it is just the will of Allah. I gave birth three times, and I have not experienced anything like this. This is the will of Allah and there is nothing one can do about it,” she said.

An 18-year-old schoolgirl has died after she was operated on by a lab scientist posing as a doctor.

Stella, a student of Gateway Excel College, Ogeneago Otukpa in Benue state, developed complications after the quack doctor performed an open appendectomy on her. She had to be transferred to a different hospital where she eventually died in spite of efforts to save her life.

Itodo Samuel Anthony, who is a teacher at Stella's school, shared the story on Facebook. He revealed that the quack doctor is a lab scientist at a government hospital but opened his private hospital where he poses as a medical doctor. When patients are sent to him for lab tests at the lab in the government hospital, he diverts them to his private hospital and begins treating them like he's a trained doctor.



Itodo also disclosed that a doctor friend told him it has become a habit for such quacks, who are now everywhere, to misdiagnose patients suffering simple stomach ache as appendicitis just so they can perform the surgery and make money from it.

A 51-year-old Nigerian Pastor identified as Rev. Ignatius Ogboi, has been arrested and paraded by the Delta State Police Command.


According to NewsTelegraph, 3,871 live cartridge, a loaded English made double barrel gun, prohibited drugs and over N4 million, believed to be ransom collected from kidnapped and armed robbery victims from him, was recovered from the suspected notorious kidnapper’s bedroom, who is also a Pastor of Salvation Army Church.

Speaking to newsmen, the state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Mustafa said Ogboi was doing an illegal business of the highest degree of suspicion, and suspected that drugs in his possession were being used on his victims.

The commissioner said Ogboi’s arrest followed discreet information the command received, through intelligence gathering that a businessman and pastor was dealing on illegal goods in the locality.

“Operatives of the state Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Asaba, led by the officer in charge, stormed his residence with duly signed search warrant, arrested him and recovered a loaded English made double-barrelled gun, 3,871 live cartridges, some prohibited drugs and undisclosed amount of money believed to be ransom collected from victims” the Police Commissioner said.

However on his own part, the Nigerian Pastor who admitted to owning the recovered materials, said he only helped the vigilantes in his community to procure the recovered items found in his possession, after they complained that they were buying them at exorbitant rates elsewhere. He further denied the allegation of being involved in suspected cases of kidnapping and being in possession of illegal firearm and prohibited drugs, including Tramadol.

“I am still an ordained minister of God in Christ Army Church, Umunede. The bulk of the money being paraded is very small compared to what I usually have with me, if my business was still booming. I am not a kidnapper as being speculated” he said.

The suspect, however, maintained that he bought the drugs for his sick wife while the cartridges were being sold in bits to end users.

The Kano state police command have arrested the man impersonating the Emir of Kano on Instagram. The man runs a verified Instagram page with 262, 000 followers with claims that he is the Emir.

The monarch last year denied running an Instagram page which a lot of Nigerians were following.

The monarch in a statement released by his media aide, Alhaji Munir Sanusi, said he never authorized anyone to open Instagram, Facebook, Twitter ir any other social media accounts.

After many months of manhunt, the impersonator was arrested and is currently cooling his heels in the state police command. He will be arraigned in court for impersonation.

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said its troops killed five Boko Haram insurgents in the ongoing clearance operation in Sambisa Forest.

Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Operation Lafiya Dole, said in a statement issued in Maiduguri, that the troops also cleared various enclaves of the insurgents.

Nwachukwu disclosed that the troops under Operation DEEP PUNCH II had cleared insurgents’ hideouts at Agapulawa; Amuda, Nyawa and Attagara in Sambisa Forest.

He said troops killed the five insurgents at Tchikide and Chinene in the Lake Chad region.

Nwachukwu said that two soldiers were killed and two others wounded when an insurgents’ Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) vehicle hit their military vehicle.

He said that the wounded soldiers were evacuated to a military medical facility for treatment.

“In continuation of the “On Tuesday 28, February, 2018; troops successfully cleared and dismantled insurgents’ camps at Agapulawa, Amuda, Nyawa and Attagara in the remaining parts of Sambisa Forest.

“The clearance operations progressed further into other identified insurgents’ camps around Tchikide and Chinene, where the troops ferociously engaged and cleared pockets of resistance by the insurgents and killed five of them,” he said.

According to him, the gallant troops had reorganized and resumed operation and assured Nigerians of the military’s commitments to the successful completion of counter-insurgency operation in the region. (NAN)

Liverpool's fourth-placed finish in last season's Premier League meant they had to navigate a play-off in August - against Hoffenheim - to qualify for the competition proper.

But under new rules sanctioned today ahead of the 2018/19 season, the top four from England - as well as Spain, Italy and Germany - will gain direct qualification into the group stages.

The tournament will also now have two new kick-off times, with the traditional 7.45pm kick off being replaced by 5.55pm and 8pm.

The news comes as a boost to the Reds, who will no longer have to face a play-off in order to gain entry into the group stages regardless of where they finish in the top four.
Winning the Champions League - or Europa League - will also guarantee entry into the last 32.
There will also be six other qualifiers - four champions of their domestic league, two 'non-champions' - to make up the group stages.

The teams who finish fifth and sixth in the Premier League are also guaranteed a spot in the Europa League group stages.

The 2019 Champions League final will be played in Madrid, Spain, on June 1.

Nigerian Musician, Maleke Moye has dragged 9mobile to the Federal High Court Ikoyi presided over by Hon Justice Faji on allegations of intellectual property theft and commercial exploitation of the said stolen intellectual property.


Maleke who is the Edo State Chapter of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN sued the Telecoms company for the unauthorized used of his intellectual properties.

The suit which was recently instituted against the telecommunications giant is asking for the payment of damages to the tune of 500million Naira for the unauthorized copying, theft, sale and continuous resale for of sixteen different music tracks of Mr. Maleke as ring tunes on its website for a period upwards of seven years.

The plaintiff who spoke in court today lamented the huge financial loss he had suffered over the years due to the brazen display of recklessness by the telecommunications giant. He lamented further that all attempts to open communication channels with 9mobiles parent company were frustrated hence his resort to the law for remedy.

“I am a performing artiste and I believe these are my intellectual properties being used by another organization without my consent. They thought I was no longer active in the industry and felt they had the liberty to use my materials without due consultation.

We actually reached out to them for amicable settlement, but they refused to give me and my team any audience and so we dragged them to court. I believe the court will decide and justice will definitely prevail”

“It is quite unfortunate that a lot of Nigerian artistes don’t understand their rights and obligations in the industry. That is why we ask them to join associations and leagues, but no they would want to do it on their on. No organization has the right to use your property without having an agreement with you”

Award winning Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has taken to his Instagram handle to reveal why he titled his new song Ire. The singer disclosed that his late sister Busayo died in 2011. He added that his sister died of heart related diseases and she was a good singer before her demise. Adekunle further revealed that he is highly protective of his family but he can’t skip not talking about one of his favourite memories. He also disclosed that looking at the video, the little girl who was skipping around him represents his late sister and he dedicates the song to her.

The federal government has released a statement informing Nigerians how President Buhari should be addressed at formal functions henceforth. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, gave the directive in a circular sent to ministries, departments and agencies of the federal government. The circular reads;

“Government has observed with concern the inconsistent manner in which the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria is addressed during Official and Private functions. It has therefore become necessary to have a standard format for addressing him at such formal occasions. To this end, Mr. President shall henceforth be addressed as ‘‘MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.’’ except in purely Armed Forces Programmes, where “COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES OF FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA” will be added. All concerned persons should accordingly be guided and ensure strict compliance with the contents of this Circular.”

A witness in the trial of retired Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Atewe, has told the court how the former military personnel gifted N35m to the Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel.



Atewe who served as the Commander of the military Joint Task Force, Operation Pulo Shield, in the Niger Delta before his retirement, is standing trial for allegedly diverting N8.5 billion between September 2014 and May 2015.



Atewe is standing trial alongside a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Patrick Akpobolokemi; Kime Engozu, Josephine Otuaga and six companies namely Jagan Ltd; Jagan Trading Company Ltd; Jagan Global Services Ltd; Al-Nald Ltd; Paper Warehouse Ltd; Eastpoint Integrated Services Ltd and De-Newlink Integrated Services Ltd.



The trial witness, Nkem Ahidjo, told the court yesterday that himself and Atewe met in Abuja some years ago where they worshipped at the Aso villa church. He said he built a strong relationship with Atewe and even attended night vigils in the former military general's home in Abuja.

Ahidjo said upon resuming as the head of the JTF command in Bayelsa, Atewe called him over to his home and asked him if he had any account where some monies can be lodged. Ahidjo said he told him yes since he has some company accounts. Atewe then told him he would be transferring some monies into the company accounts and that once he receives the transaction, he should get in touch with him for further instructions.

He invited me to Bayelsa and I went. He told me that the Federal Government gave JTF a grant for security and building of barracks and if I have any company into which account money could be paid. And being somebody I knew very well from Guard Commander to Major General, I provided the companies that I listed earlier,” Ahidjo said

He said when he started receiving the alerts, he told Atewe who asked him to hold on to the money unti further instructions. Atewe left for Abuja and invited Ahidjo over. The witness said the military chief then introduced him to one who was receiving the money on Atewe's behalf. Due to the bulk of the money, Ahidjo said he was instructed to convert the money to dollars for esy transportation.

Each time I received it (money), I would call a BDC operator, named Jimoh. I knew him before this time. He would change the money, I would pay him the naira equivalent and take the dollars. Once I changed it, I would wait for instruction either from Major General Atewe or Mr. Kime. That was what we continued to do until the end of the transaction in 2015,” Ahidjo said.

He told the court that he received a total of N4,915,163,103 within the period, out of which about N4.1bn were converted to dollars and delivered to Engozu, who in turn issued a receipt for each payment based on Atewe’s instruction. He added that of the remaining amount, he was instructed by Atewe to transfer N35m to Winners’ Chapel; N103m to INP Ltd; N170m to First Investment Ltd; N99m to Lord Fem Ltd; N88m to Ocean Gas and N297m to Cisco Nobot.

On what the transfer for Winners Chapel was meant for, Ahidjo told the court that he had no idea. The case

The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday, paraded a Beninnois native doctor, Rasheed Akinola, who admitted to being the armourer to a gang of trans-border armed robbers, who specialised in snatching exotic vehicles in Nigeria and moving them to Cotonou, Benin Republic.

Akinola was paraded by the Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal alongside three members of the gang- Ajagba Hammed, 30, alias John T, Tobinju Potel, 35, alias Popo and Botan Remmy, 30.

According to the native doctor, he usually smuggled the gang’s weapons into Nigeria through bush path, adding that they paid him N15, 000 for the job.


He further confess that he had been responsible for the charms used by the gang over the years, which he claimed ensured they went out and returned successfully.

“They came to my place in Port-Novo to collect charms to protect them during robbery. I collected CFA 30,000 for the charm. I have also helped them to cross arms through Idiroko for N15, 000 per transaction. I have only done that twice. The charm protects them and opens the way for them. I was arrested at Mile Two.”

On his part, the gang leader, Hammed said he usually got the guns from one Benedict, a car dealer in Cotonou.

He said that Benedict was his godfather, adding that he just snatched exotic cars, took them to the dealer who gave him any amount he deemed fit.

“It was polo who called us to come and rob this year. We have robbed twice – two cars. It is a car dealer that collects the vehicle and he gives us anything he feels like. He is the one who gives us the guns. He is my chairman. For that Prado, he gave us CFA300, 000.”

Potel claimed a Nigerian driver invited him to take part in the robbery, adding that the driver took one of the two vehicles they stole in the country.

Briefing newsmen, the police boss said the suspects met their waterloo on January 20, around 9pm, after they snatched two Prado Sports Utility Vehicle (SUVs) belonging to Olayinka Oyebola and Fidel Onwodi at Victoria Island and Ikoyi respectively.

The criminals abandoned Oyebola’s vehicle which they snatched first at Babatunde Crescent in Oniru, Victoria Island, because they suspected it had a tracker and then went after Onwodi, who had stopped along Kingsway Road with his wife for beef barbecue.

According to Edgal, the criminals confined the couple to the back seat but Mrs. Onwodi took advantage of gridlock and jumped off the vehicle before they got to Third Mainland Bridge.

An AK47 marked PE-2473; 43 AK49 live ammunition; a locally made cut to size double barrel gun; six live cartridges, a licence plate number JD697KJA and assorted charms were recovered from them.

“The criminals stripped their first victim, Oyebola naked, took him to Ajah/Epe road and pushed him off the vehicle. They made way with his smart phone and N45, 000 which he withdrew from the Zenith Bank Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at Ajose Adeogun," Edgal said

“The criminals continued their journey until they got to Ikoyi, opposite Southern Sun Hotel, where they sighted another Toyota Prado SUV marked ABC853LK driven by Fidel Onwodi accompanied by his wife.

“The couple had parked to buy beef barbecue. The robbers parked beside Onwodi’s SUV and ordered the couple to move to the rear of the car. The man’s wife summoned courage and jumped off the moving vehicle. She took advantage of the slow traffic on the road. The criminals continued moving and abandoned her husband on Third Mainland Bridge.

“They made away with his SUV while that of Oyebola was parked at a location in Babatunde Crescent, Oniru, where undercover operatives of the command recovered it. The suspects confessed to series of robbery operations in which exotic cars were snatched at gunpoint. They also confessed that Onwodi’s car was in Cotonou. Investigation is ongoing. The suspects have owned up to the crime and are assisting the police with information that would help in recovering the Prado SUV presently in Cotonou and arrest of other gang members," he added.

An armed robber was caught during an operation in Sapele area of Delta state.

According to reports, the compound had been under series of attacks by hoodlums who steal properties and other valuables before the suspect was caught.

On Tuesday, a group of robbers attacked the compound again and were spotted by neighbors who shouted for help.

The other gang members jumped the fence and ran abandoning their colleague in the process.

When the suspect who was caught was interrogated, he said he was pressed making him to jump into the compound to defecate by 1 am before he and his guys decided to use the opportunity to steal from the compound.The young man was locked in a balcony as the people who caught him went to call soldiers who were staying close by. Before the soldiers could come, the suspect had already defecated in the balcony probably to drive home his point.

He was beaten before he was taken away by the soldiers.
