Russia winning this one |
Russia don't boast a roster of standout players, so will be having to rely on the emerging talents of Aleksandr Golovin, who is their most dangerous attacking player and aged just 22. Aleksandr Kokorin misses out on the tournament due to an injury, and it is a blow for Russia as he would have been the first-choice striker. Ex-Chelsea full-back Zhirkov is nearing the end of his international career, and playing the finals in his home country would be the perfect send-off. Potential Russia XI: Akinfeev; Zhirkov, Kutepov, Ignashevich, Fernandes; Golovin, Anton Miranchuk, Zobnin, Samedov; Dzagoev, Smolov Saudi Arabia's three key men lie in Al-Abed, Al-Muwall and Al-Shehri. Al-Abed netted five times in the qualification stages and remains to be Saudi Arabia's top-scorer en route to the finals, while Al-Mulwall netted the goal that secured his nation's participation in Russia. Al-Shehri provides the most experience for his team, having been in the side since 2009 and is only 27 years of age. Potential Saudi Arabia XI: Al-Muaiouf, Al-Burayk, Al-Boleahi, Hawsawi, Al-Harbi, Al-Faraj, Ali-Khaibari, Kanno, Al-Jassim, Al-Shehri, Al-Sahlawi |

Julen Lopetegui has been sacked as Spain national coach on the eve of the World Cup, after agreeing to take over at Real Madrid. Madrid had been looking for a replacement since Zinedine Zidane stepped down last month, just days after winning a third consecutive Champions League trophy. After guiding Spain easily through qualification to the World Cup finals, Lopetegui had agreed a new contract up until Euro 2022 in May. But just three days before Spain's Group B opener against Portugal in Sochi, Madrid announced on Tuesday afternoon that they had convinced him to leave that position after the tournament is over to take up a three-year deal with the La Liga giants. RFEF president Luis Rubiales and Lopetegui were set to give a news conference from the national team's camp in Krasnodar early on Wednesday morning. Ex-Spain and Madrid defender Fernando Hierro is also with the team in Russia as sporting director, and could step in as coach if Lopetegui were to leave immediately. On Tuesday night, RFEF vice-president Rafael del Amo told Radio Marca that he was very disappointed by the timing of Madrid taking the national coach, and predicted further negative fallout should Spain not now win the World Cup. "I don't like it, don't like it at all," Del Amo said. "This is not the moment, [Lopetegui] will know that. It is a bit offside, he should have been focused on where he is, there is a lot on the line. I believe they should have looked for another moment, but you must have respect too. I [still] believe we will win the tournament, I hope so. If not, you realise how bad this news could be, for some, and for others. For sure it is not the best thing that could have happened." Reports say that the former Madrid and Barcelona goalkeeper, whose representative Caros Bucero works closely with Portuguese super- agent Jorge Mendes, will triple his salary with the move. Rubiales spoke with Marca on his return to the Krasnodar camp from Moscow, where the national federation president had been expecting to attend Wednesday's vote to pick the host for the 2026 World Cup. Rubiales spoke with Marca on his return to the Krasnodar camp from Moscow, where the national federation president had been expecting to attend Wednesday's vote to pick the host for the 2026 World Cup. "This is not the moment to speak, but we will take the best decision for the national team," said Rubiales, who was only voted RFEF president last month. "We will do things with responsibility." http://kobogist-forum.61417.n8.nabble.com/Spain-manager-Julen-Lopetegui-has-been-sacked-just-two-days-before-their-first-World-Cup-game-td89.html |

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ebonyi state chapter, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu, has ahead of the 2019 general election tasked party faithful to monitor the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to avert foul play. Nwachukwu made this known during the inauguration of the state executive council members, SEC,numbering seventeen, that took place at the party secretariat located along Abakaliki/ Afikpo expressway. The new party executives were sworn in by Barrister Ndubuisi Jeff Obiukwu who is believably the state Legal Adviser. The chairman charged the newly inaugurated executives shortly after swearing them in thus :”You are expected to discharge your duties according to the constitution of the party and that of the federal republic of Nigeria without fear or favour. “Our mandate is to ensure that we win election from the presidential election to all other elections in 2019. For you to do this, one of your assignments is to go down and mobilize at the grassroots. “You should go into the local areas and ensure that we mobilize our people to come into the party and vote for the party during the forthcoming election. Permanent voters card are being distributed now. “It is your responsibility as a party officer to ensure that you monitor INEC. To ensure that there is no foul play. The distribution order is that, PVCs should be distributed at a designated distribution centre, not in somebody’s house. “Ensure that the voters card is equitably distributed. Nobody should collect two at once. We have received report, alleging that some other political parties are hobnobbing with INEC to give them more than one PVC at a time. If you see such, they are amount to criminality and such is punishable under the law. “You should report such activity to the APC party Secretariat or you report to the nearest police station. If you see anybody carrying a bunch of PVCs, it is your duty as a party officer to make sure that such person is arrested and we will ensure that the perpetrator is prosecuted. “Secondly, this party has risen to its foot and will never condone any attack on any APC member. And may we once again, communicate to the law enforcement agencies, that any further attack on our members and you fail to do the needful, we shall resort to self help. We shall defend ourselves. Nigeria belong to all of us, enough of this humiliations, intimidation and killing of APC members in Ebonyi state,” he alleged. source: http://kobogist-forum.61417.n8.nabble.com/2019-APC-chairman-tasks-members-to-monitor-INEC-to-avert-foul-play-td72.html
