Tomas Rosicky admits he has spoken to Petr Cech about his future and says it is "no secret" that the Chelsea goalkeeper is seeking a summer transfer. Cech, 33, looks certain to leave the Premier League champions after 11 trophy-laden years and Goal understands he is keen to move to Arsenal having lost his No.1 spot at Stamford Bridge to Thibaut Courtois. Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with Cech, who would prefer to keep his family in London, and his international team-mate Rosicky expects the Chelsea star to receive several offers in the transfer window. "I would be lying if I said I didn't speak about it with Petr because it's no secret he wants to change clubs," Rosicky told Goal at the launch of Arsenal’s new Puma kit. "He will have a lot of options to go to a good club." Pressed on specific conversations about Arsenal, Rosicky added: "Sorry, I won't interfere in that or get into any details." Rosicky himself is the subject of speculation over his future. |

David De Gea has informed Manchester United that he wishes to join Real Madrid,Goal can reveal. The Red Devils must now determine whether to sell De Gea this summer or to hold the Spain international to the final year of his contract, losing him on a free transfer at the end of next season. The attraction of playing for Spain's biggest football club combined with the opportunity to return to his home city and residence of his girlfriend were significant factors in De Gea's decision to leave the Premier League. United's handling of the 24-year-old in recent years – including Louis van Gaal's instruction that the club hold off on the offer of a new contract last summer until the incoming manager had time to work with De Gea in person – facilitated Madrid's approach. It is understood that De Gea's advisors recommended that the Spaniard spend a further two years in English football before joining Madrid.

"Bayern must internationalise its appeal in order to stay at (or near) the top," Brand Finance says in its report. "Though commercial revenue is high, there are few opportunities to extract further value from its current fan base, which is much more domestic in its composition than other top teams." Barcelona, despite huge gains in Brand Strength thanks to their success in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, have slipped behindChelsea andManchester City in the Brand Value stakes. Despite shooting up from $622m in 2013 to $773m this time around (24% growth), the Premier League clubs' huge gains (58% for Chelsea, 57% for Man City) have claimed another European powerhouse. The Catalans, though, are indeed ranked as the most powerful football brand on the planet above rivals Real Madrid. Traditional European powerhouses, boosted by impressive Champions League showings, dominate the top five, with Manchester United the only representative. |
Manchester United have been named the most valuable football club in the world and have become the first "billion dollar" brand in the sport. The Red Devils reclaimed their place at the top of Brand Finance's Football 50 Brand Value ranking, despite a transitional and trophyless season under new manager Louis van Gaal, and are now worth an all-time high $1.2bn - a staggering growth of 64 per cent. From third in the previous analysis, United leapfroggedBayern Munich andReal Madrid , both beaten Champions League semi-finalists, to regain top spot even though they missed out on European football altogether in the 2013-14 campaign. Madrid have also been pipped to top spot in a separate Brand Power ranking, this time by rivalsBarcelona . United first claimed top spot in the Brand Value stakes in 2009 after winning the Champions League a year previously, and recorded their previous highest brand value of $853m in 2012 following success in the Premier League and second place in Europe's top club

Cristiano Ronaldo's mother got herself into trouble with the law recently when she was found to have been travelling with €55,000 in her hand luggage. according to reports in Spain. According toEuropa Press, Dolores Aveiro was in the Barajas airport in Madrid in April when a routine search found out how much money she was carrying. The maximum amount of cash a person is permitted to carry on an aeroplane when leaving Spain is €10,000, leading to the mother of the three-time Ballon d'Or winner being detained when it was revealed she had over five times the legal limit. The press agency reports that she could not justify the amount of money she was carrying, so the police confiscated €45,000 and allowed her to travel to Portugal with the remaining money. In carrying so much, Aveiro committed an administrative offence and now must pay a fine to the tax authorities in order to free up the remainder of her money.

The Super Falcons look to be wearing around their necks the tags of underdogs going against Sweden in the adjourned Group of Death. The Blue & Yellow side have never lost to Nigeria at senior level and this meeting is the third between the two in 12 years. The Super Falcons lost 3-0 in their first clash in 2003, before playing out a 1-1 draw four years later. The encounter will decide both teams' prospect of progressing out of the group phase and at the same time could push the Super Falcons close to the exit door. Having been in Canada for two weeks, the Super Falcons will be expected to cope with adaption and weather conditions. The sharpness and cohesion of the team, as well as their tactical and mental readiness will be best assessed against Pia Sundage's unpredictable side. Ahead of the high-profile match, a scan of the African champions' camp reveals the teams urge and determination to succeed. The squad are on a high after their 9-0 dismantling of Woodbridge Ladies in their final war. |
