Good evening peops! Its cold here in lagos so i'm sending out chills to all the gents and beautiful ladies in the house |
Getting through school can be difficult especially when it is a course in the geosciences. The school is the other factor because the lecturers can so frustrate that you wont want to practise. Getting on this forum has given me a fresh perspective on a career in geosciences and i'm indeed grateful to imag5 for this insight. I mean back in oau, we never had all this insights. Thanks again |
Good evening to my professionals in the house. Hope we had a swell day. I was thinking as a geophysicist will an IT skill e.g ccna become useful to me in oil and gas industry or not? |

imag5: Happy Sunday professionals, pls don't give up until you win,for those that needed sponsor,I call the accountant at Nape headquarter and he said before you will be clear this year for the conference you must have paid all your dues starting with the year you register as a member, the issues is I can pay sponsor fee and pay dues at same time and hotel bills it willi appreciate your willingness to help sponsor people to the conference. May God move you forward too. I became a member in 2011, my number is st11/6750. I guess i'll v to pay dues for 2012 and 2013. I currently reside in lagos so i could do without the accomodation. I guess this makes your work easier 'cos i'm really hopin to network with professionals and gain insights. Thanks once again sir |

PalmTree: That's brilliant, please do not use the word trace, its called Vectorize or Digitize. Can you create and populate a database?not yet, i'm moving bit by bit, thanks for the correction |
PalmTree: Mind sharing more details? Its getting more interesting. Why aren't you using satellite imagery, that way we can do some image processing using erdas imagine, ilwis or arcGIS 10. Are you going to determine vegetative cover extent or index.bros i v not gotten to that level. I only use arcgis 9.3. I jez want to trace out streams roads and footpath then plot coordinates of rocks and trace out boundaries, thts all i kno for now |
Mamacita007: Happy bdaygracias |
I belief u brother |
PalmTree: Have you ever seen a Google Imagery? Let me highlight some points just in case you haven't. Google earth imagery are very high resolution imagery that shows clearer pictures of the earth surface without further image processing. If you get the Google imagery of your area of interest, you will surely be able to differentiate a stream from a river.. I only advised that you get the imagery so as to guide you since your image isn't clear enough.i am working on one now in a forest reserve area. I jez want a guide not to confuse it with fraxtures |
bellong: To all those celebrating today, I wish you all greatness and a fulfilled life...mine is today, thanks |
Speakin of google imagery, how do i recognise streams as compared to a scanned topo map i could make the compressed map available for u |
Hello again! I'm new into gis but i use it for map making. Please how can make a compressed raster image(jpg) better for viewing |

Write an exam with another person's ID card in my undergraduate days. Almost got caught but didnt actually. At the end of the day got an A in the course how do u handle rejection? |
imag5: Check this out.mr A has.Bsc geophysics, msc geophysics and mr B also has Bsc geophysics and pGd petroleum engineering between mr A and Mr B under favourably condition which is likely to get a rig job? and between A and B as a employer u will pick who first to work for u as field engr.. NB both A and B have 2.1 in first degree.....opinion are welcomei'd go for mr B, i belief he is more tailored for the job because of his pgd in petroleum eng |
