So you want to get a degree...why? Let me tell you what the society will tell you; It increases your chances of getting a job, provides you an opportunity to be successful, your life will be a lot less stressful. Education is the KEY. Now let me tell you what your parents will tell you; Make me proud, it increases your chances of getting job, provides you an opportunity to be successful, your life will be a lot less stressful. Education is the KEY. Now let's look at the statistics; Steve Jobs - 7Billion, (R.I.P.) Richard Branson - 4. 2Billion, Opera Winfrey - 2.7Billion, Mark Zuckerberg , Henry Ford, Steven Spielberg, Bill Gates, Now here come the "coup de grace". Looking at these individuals, what's your conclusion? NEITHER of them in being SUCCESSFUL ever graduated from a HIGHER LEARNING INSTITUTION. Now some of you will protest like "you know, MONEY is only the medium by which one measures worldly success". Some of you will even have the nerve to say "I don't do it for the money". So what are you studying for?... to work for charity?, you need more clarity? Let's look at the statics; Jesus, Mohammed, Socrates, Malcom X, Mother Theresa, Spielberg, Shakespeare, Beethoven, Jesse Owens, Mohammed Ali, Sean Carter, Michael Jeffrey Jordan, Michael Joseph Jackson etc, either of these people are unsuccessful or uneducated. All I am trying to say is that if there was a family tree, HARDWORK and EDUCATION will be "related" and SCHOOL,...will prolly be a distant cousin. You see EDUCATION is the KEY and SCHOOL is the LOCK Because it rarely ever develops your mind until it can perceive RED is GREEN and continue to go when someone else says stop, because as long as you follow the rules and pass your exams, you are cool, buh are you aware that examiners have a check list and if your answer is something that is outta the box the automatic response is a "cross" and then they claim that school expands your horizon and visions,...well, tell that to Malcom X who dropped out of school and is well renowned from what he learnt in the prison. "Proverbs 17:16" - "it does a fool no good to spend money on Education"...why?..."because he has no common sense".... George Bush, need I say more. Education is about inspiring ones mind and not just filling their head and take this from me cos I am an "EDUCATED MAN" myself who only came to this realisation after countless nights in the Library with a can of Red Bull keeping me awake till dawn and another in the morning and falling asleep in between piles of books which probably equates to the same amount I spent on my rent, memorising every equation, facts and dates right down to the letter, half of which i'd never remember and half of which i'd forget straight after the exam and before the start of the next semester, also asking everyone if they had notes for the last lecture. I often find myself running to class just so I could find a spot of which I could rest my head and fall asleep without making a scene. Ironic! Cos that's the only time I ever spent in the University chasing my dreams. And then after nights over dead mind, I then find myself in a queue of half awake student-Zombies waiting to hand in an assignment. Maybe that's why they call it a "DEAD-LINE". Then after 3years of mental suppression and frustration, my "PROUD MOTHER" didn't even turn up to my graduation. Now, I am not saying that SCHOOL is evil and there is nothing to gain, all I am saying is that you understand your motive and re-access your aim cos if you want a job and working for someone else, then help yourself. But then that would be a contradiction cos you wouldn't really be helping yourself , you would be helping somebody else. There is a saying which says "if you don't build your dream, some else will hire you to help build theirs" Redefine how you view EDUCATION, understand it's true meaning. Education is not just about regurgitating facts from a book on someone else's opinion on a subject to pass an exam. Do not allow an exam determine your fate. Look at it, Picasa was educated in creating Art, Shakespeare was educated in creating the Art of word that was written, Collin Arlene Sanders was educated in the art of creating Turkey fried chicken. I once saw David Beckham take a free kick, I watched as the side of his Adidas sponsored boot hit the up-hill level of the FIFA Ball at an angle which caused it to travel towards the sky as though it was destined for the heavens, and then as it reached the peak of it's momentum, as though it changes it's mind, it's switched direction...I watched as the goalkeeper froze and as though reciting to himself the laws of physics and as though his brain was negotiating with his eyes that was indeed witnessing the spectacle of the wonders that was sweeping towards it and then reacting with only a fraction of a millisecond too late and before the net of the goal embraced the FIFA sponsored ball as though it was the prodigal son returning home, in the country that I live in, even up to chills, I looked at the play and forth...Damn!, looking at David Beckham, there is more than one way to be an educated man. Are you tired of people always telling you to just be happy? Yeah, me too. It’s actually mind puzzling how many people go around telling everyone to be happy as if it’s a switch we can just turn on. What’s sad is to see how many people are pretending to be happy and equally, how many people are desperately trying to be happy. To this I have a couple questions. Why are people trying to sell happiness as if they get a commission out of it? Why would someone lie to themselves and pretend to be something they’re not which is probably worse? Let’s be honest, how many people do you know and how many stories have you heard of people spending their lives trying to attain something they think will give them happiness only to discover, at the end, there was none to be found? When you look around, every magazine, advertisement and commercial are selling a form of happiness for mainly two reasons. First, because happiness is one of the most desired things in life and secondly, because it profits off of people by deceptively convincing them that they will be less happy in life without said product or service but more happy with it. Is happiness the most sought after thing in life? I hope not. You ask most people what they want in life and they’ll tell you easily, “I just want to be happy.” I’m calling bullshit on this, I’m not buying it. Everyone wants things in life but happiness isn’t necessarily on that list. We understand that happiness isn’t a tangible thing in the material sense. It is more likely a by-product of whatever it is we achieve or obtain, like love and success. Think of it this way, telling people you want to be happy is like telling people you want to be stuffed instead of telling them what you want to eat. No one does this because being stuffed is obviously the result of eating too much, especially if it’s food you love. This is why I’ve come to the conclusion that saying, “I just want to be loved in life” is more valid and accurate than saying, “I just want to be happy.” Regardless, if I had a choice, I prefer to be angry instead. Since when did happiness become a more valuable emotion than anger? Time and time again I get knocked down and judged for being angry as opposed to being happy. This is wrong. Anger is just as a legit emotion as happiness. For that matter, every emotion is just as equally important. How can people just acknowledge, focus and push only one state of being over all the others? There’s an imbalance in all of this. Besides, I have reasons for being angry… very good ones I might add. Question, have you ever asked someone why they’re happy? Rarely will you get a great answer. You’ll typically receive a, “I don’t know” or some lame/cheesy response. In contrast, have you ever asked someone why they’re angry? You’ll probably end up grabbing a chair and some drinks or snacks because it’s going to get very interesting. Why does anger have such a bad rap? If it wasn’t for anger our history as a nation would be completely different, world events would be entirely contrastive and all the stories, movies, songs and books you love would drastically change. There’s something about anger (Charlie Sheen calls it “passion”) that is compelling and engaging but most importantly, necessary. I’m happy being angry because it lets me know that I still care, that I still desire change, that I’m not willing to accept what’s just handed to me. Anger drives me to be better, to be competitive, to be victorious and not give up. I doubt happiness does any of these things for an individual. The reality is you’re more likely to be happy by allowing yourself to be angry. We need to stop masking our feelings of anger. We ought to free ourselves while fighting for what we want and believe. I understand there needs to be a balance with it as a whole but this is about the validity of what we feel… of what drives us. We need to move with conviction and this requires acknowledging anger and leveraging it in a healthy way. We are all angry somewhere inside. Suppressing anger will not make it go away and ignoring it is not going to make it disappear. On the contrary, it will kill you from the inside out. We need to discover ways to express and release our anger creatively or productively. Stop pretending to be happy and allow yourself to get angry. If you ever hope to realize your full potential to perform, you need to understand the vital role anger plays in your life. And if memory recalls, you may remember just how much you’ve accomplished because of anger. If your parents were unbearable to live with, you moved out. If your relationship was going nowhere, you broke up. If train services left you late to work one too many times, you bought a car. If your job didn’t appreciate you and your efforts, you left. If you didn’t like the shape you were in, you began working out. You see, there’s nothing quite like anger. If we learn to wield it appropriately we can become more than if we camouflage it from ourselves. Don’t allow anger to boil up within you so that one day you “snap” or “Go postal.” We have it for a reason, use it. Let people know that you don’t need a self-help book on how to live happily in life because what this world needs more of are passionate people, fighting to make a difference. There’s a tremendous amount of ugliness, evil and unjustness in the world that’s never going to change with happy people. They are no “good” or “bad” emotions in a classic sense. We can’t help to feel the way we feel when emotions hit us, it’s just natural. What we can do however, is respond by actively evaluating ourselves to keep our perception accurate on what we need versus what we think we need. (DISCLAIMER: I know this is part of a larger topic regarding the equilibrium of our emotional, mental and spiritual state of being but I wanted to particularly highlight the misconception of anger and how healthy it is to allow it to breathe when necessary in a productive way.) (The following perception is brought to you by an uptown New Yorker. Before shots are fired, I’d like to ease your thin skin by acknowledging that this is not a reference to every person in the universe. I already know that you are the exception from everything I’ve written here.) I am walking down Dyckman Street heading home when I observe a myriad of people stretched across the sidewalk spilling onto the street. It’s nothing uncommon on a beautiful Sunday afternoon but those who are not sitting/eating in designated restaurant areas are occupying the middle of the sidewalk like tourists do in Times Square. And if you’re a New Yorker like me then it’s on the list of “Most hated things for New Yorkers” next to the smell of MTA subway stations. What’s supposed to be a casual walk quickly turned into football preseason training as I slither, weave and athletically maneuver my way through the crowds. However, while I do so, it appears as if I’m moving past the same people over and over again sort of like an old school Nintendo Kung Fu game. In fact, I actually slow down to a halt just to observe everyone around me in more detail. Some of you who live in the Washington Heights or Inwood neighborhoods may know whom I’m referring to. All the women dressed up as if they are attending the Latin Grammy Awards with their tight dresses exaggerating their fake breasts and ass with over done make-up etc. The men with their fitted baseball caps or typical trendy haircuts wearing sunglasses, jewelry, skinny yet baggy jeans with converse shoes and tight short-sleeved shirts showing off their unfinished tattoos etc. Everyone is zombified by their phones either on social media or are taking pictures of themselves, their food and drinks and uploading them on social media with a plethora of hashtags reflecting “the high life”… which last time I remembered, only happened if you were drinking Miller Light (There were none to be found). I realize I’m surrounded by superficial clone types and I honestly can’t tell them apart. It could be a cultural thing but I’m left wondering, “which culture does it represent?” Certainly not any form of Hispanic culture. It can’t be a local thing because the majority of people here aren’t from this area. Now I hate hipsters as much as the next guy but this particular cookie cutter crowd I found oddly similar and it inevitably had my mind thinking. It’s clear everything going on around me is supposed to be a social venue but there was something indifferent about it all. After reaching home and further thinking I realized what I witnessed was an epidemic. There has to be a reason why guys now are overly insecure, wear pretty earrings, pluck their eyebrows and spend more time getting dressed and admiring themselves in the mirror than women. Don’t get me wrong, hygiene and “man-scaping” is necessary when appropriate but it looks like what used to be an exclusive female trait has been acquired by their male counterpart in a competitive way. Likewise, there has to be a reason why woman spend more time, money and energy on their appearance as if there’s a contest on who could be the best looking female in the world or, so as to attract the man with the most money wherever they go out. Seriously, what the hell is going on socially these days? I can go in many directions with this topic but I’m going to only cover why encounters, that have evolved from such social settings, typically end distastefully for women. Let’s call it, “The Bored Identity” in light of one of my favorite conspiracy films. It’s generally true that guys chase the most attractive woman wherever they can find them and likewise, woman gravitate towards successful men with money. But here’s how the old, often repeated story goes: Guys objectify women, cheat on them somehow and then women end up heartbroken, categorizing all men as assholes. However, here’s the thing, I don’t necessarily blame men entirely for playing this role. (Please note: Men are not dogs. Dogs are loyal, are always excited to see you and enjoy nothing more than to be in your presence.) You see, the majority of females these days focus so much on how they appear in life that they mistakenly end up developing the wrong parts of their existence. Unfortunately due to this, I notice women end up attracting the same type of guys. Which means they probably have a history of failed relationships or unsatisfied ones leading to chronic distrust in men, insecurity and loneliness. Men don’t get a free pass because weare assholes… but females have a hand in it. You see, all those hours of women getting their nails done, being in the hair salon gossiping and going out looking for attention is only going to attract a certain type of male. The reality is beautiful women are a dime a dozen. Don’t believe me? Just look at almost all of social media. Beautiful women exist in the millions and all the guys are in competition on who can bang the most attractive women before we die. That’s why we generally come and go (pun intended) in relationships. We brag and show off our conquests because we are cavemen. The women on the other hand become insecure and impressively defensive when engaging in another relationship and rightfully so. So, how do we solve this? What do women do? I think it’s simple, women… become your grandmother. Let me describe her. She has a strong beautiful spirit that nurtures your soul when she’s around. She’s wise and endearing when she speaks. She’s the center of attention because her soul unifies the family. Her character is unbroken no matter the circumstance or situation. She is the backbone of strength and faith. Her joy is in helping and taking care of those she loves. She’s respected and loved by everyone. She’s peaceful to be around and you enjoy listening to her. She makes you smile and it seems as if she has all the answers to life. You hope to be like her one day and we guys hope so too because we have grandmothers as well and they are the most incredible women we know (outside of our moms of course). I’ll let you females in on a little secret, although we’re assholes, we do knowreal women when we see one or come across one. We may not admit it because we’re too scared to acknowledge such things but it’s true. We will collapse into you helplessly if you were like your grandmother… especially if you cook like her (wink). Being physically beautiful will only attract men not keep them. Show me a beautiful woman and I’ll show you a guy tired of “banging” her. That’s why guys sleep with women and then move along, because physicality is a depreciating value. If that’s all you offer then you give no reason for a man to stay because there will always be someone more beautiful and younger in our hunt for world dominance. Women, it’s time you start demanding a better kind of man by demanding more of yourself, otherwise we’ll find you boring and will do just enough to get laid. Don’t invest in your nails, invest in your mind. Stop yapping on the phone and leave your phone at home and enjoy time alone where you can listen to yourself. Spend time with your family and loved ones and stop trying to “do you.” You’re already beautiful. You don’t need your hair done, extravagant make-up or some provocative dress to prove it. Stop posting countless pictures of yourself on social media to seek adoration and focus on your soul. Work and money are not going anywhere so enjoy the purity of life. Stop trying to be a superstar, the center of attention or competing with the entire superficial female population and discover who you really are and what’s been given to you. Allow yourself to become that strong, wholesome spiritual woman your grandmother is/was and eventually you’ll stop asking “Where have all the men gone?” because you will no longer feel the need to keep looking… men will be looking for you. We always are. Know the difference between seeking attention and attraction, women. What you want and what your soul needs are seldom the same. DISCLAIMER: I understand that not everyone’s mother and/or grandmother are what I described. In any case, aspire to become more by journeying within yourself and discovering the path on become more. krall3:Definitely I'm sitting in my office while you'rə standing shouting for politicians that don't care about you |
Please I need opinions from you guys. For me I prefer 5" screens for Phones, anything bigger than that doesn't feel comfortable.. Using a BlackBerry Z30 For my Tablet, Microsoft Surface Pro 3 12" tablet.. I don't think a tablet should be larger than that.. Using a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB) Please drop your Opinion.. |
DrHesjay:Have you tried restarting your phone? |
mustymatic:I can authoritatively say 'You're daft' O tan! |
