This reforms are necessary
We can't continue to spend on subsidy while feeding our neighbours
Nigerians should stop complaining and go into productivity massively

Every government in the world subsidizes essential commodities/services for their citizens- In UK its healthcare and education, in US its fuel and food, Europeans subsidize gas heavily for their citizens especially during winter.

Who brainwashed you people that subsidy is a bad thing? So what is the benefit of the government to the common man when every subsidy is removed?

FAAC to states have increased since subsidy was removed meaning there is more money in the hand of government. Pray tell how has more revenue to your system improved your standard of living?
Is it not better to subsidize fuel than to share to excess money to irresponsible governors who will squander it as usual?

I'm not sure you people know what you are defending. By the time fuel gets to 5k per litre and you can no longer buy food or pay transport that is when you will realise the truth.

In present day every woman wants to work and earn income which is fantastic...so they want to keep their money and pretend they are full-time housewives. It's laughable sha

nairalanda1:

Yes, we should have voted out APC. But Peter Obi won't have brought about the eldorado you guys want.

Peter Obi, when the victory dust settles, would have faced an economy where 90% of our revenue was going for debt servicing. The only way out would have been to remove fuel subsidy totally, remove electricity subsidy totally, reform taxation, so that at least 70% of the population is taxed..and actively fight corruption.

It would have been nice, but he won't have done that, because Nigerians would have labelled him a wicked person.

There is a reason why tinubu is doing partial reform, and not fighting corruption....it is because if he did the above, he would lose power. That is also why Obi walked back his comment and said he would remove 50% of the subsidy, something that has been done for decades, and has contributed to the issue we are facing now....

Until you, and the obideints and the tinubu, and the atiku and every Nigerian accepts that we are a poor country, we got to jail the corrupt, and we got to actually tax more of our gdp, and spend more on public transport infraxtrtucture....and not throw tantrums over the subsidy being unsustaibnable....we are going to face the same problem for years to come...and you all will be playing musical chairs.

And yes, tinubu is not doing well. We are going to have issues from the subsidy he is still keeping for years.

You lost me when you say we are a poor country

We are not poor. We have never been poor. Do you know how much foreign oil companies owe Nigeria in royalties today? Do you know that 90% of our crude oil was stolen for the last 10 years without any accountability?

We are not poor please

. Oil is an international commodity, averagely in all countries, oil sells at >1.2$ for 1 litre

What does this means ?

With exchange rate of 1600# to dollar, it means the government is still heavily subsidizing oil more than before. And they can't hold it again

If it is subsidized , the real price of oil should be around #1500 for 1 litre, but if the subsidy is removed, the price should be around #2300 for a litre.

Withing the few weeks or months, prices will correct itself to 1500#, at best

Why should country that has crude oils and refineries buy at the same exorbitant rate as countries who don't have crude oil? So what is the benefit of our crude oil to the local market?

Whether it is 1000 or 857 naira per liter, it calls for celebration. At least subsidy or landing cost matter has come to an end. And government should not have excuses again for poor performance, pilling up of debts.

Who told you that landing cost matter has come to an end. Is dangote refinery able to meet the need of the entire nation? There is no justification for Nigerians to buy fuel at 900/litre while government is still paying subsidy.

There is nothing to celebrate here until dangote tells us the price of his fuel

It's the wife. I dislike men who drag properties with their wife.

No sensible woman will contribute to her husband's building, the wisest thing to do is to relieve him off some budden so that he can be financially ok to buy a land and build himself. She should have simply sell the land to him and get another land in her name.

A man can come tomorrow with kids from other women who will start dragging space with your children and insist they also have right to their father's property but what is yours as a woman solely belong to your children, nobody can drag it with them.

My deal breaker in marriage is having kids outside our union, no apologies on earth will ever make me stay and I'll never speak a word with you again till we go back to our creator, this is one thing I'll warn my future husband about. It's a good thing that this kind of threads are created for the married to refresh their marital responsibilities, so as to keep the fire burning in their love lives.

However, as a man, father, and a husband, these are my personal experiences in marriage:

- We need to regularly appreciate our wives.
- Your wife should be your best friend.
- Do the house chores together.
- Understand your wife's weakness and make her see it rather as strength.
- Be in constant communication with your wife, even while at work.
- Be romantic. Initiate seductive conversations. Be playful with her.
- In times of argument, do it with love. If you notice she's still angry, cuddle her and laugh it off.
- Always make your wife feel special. Buy her gifts. Take her out, even after birthing 5 children.
- For your marriage to work, the onus lies on the man/husband. What you put in is what you get.

Good advice except for the last one. This is what society has conditioned men to believe and that is why most women think they are not accountable for their actions.

Both parties are responsible

Dear Daily Trust,

Please fact-check me: You deliberately omitted to tell your readers that the U.S. has ordered a new Air Force One from Boeing, at the cost of $3.9 billion, which is over 300 times the cost of Nigeria's new Presidential Jet.

You also failed to inform your readers that it costs $177,843 an hour and $2,964 every minute for the US Air Force to maintain the current Air Force one that President Biden uses, which, when you calculate the yearly cost is more than the $100 million Nigeria spent on the new Presidential Jet.

Finally, you additionally failed to tell your readers that the Presidential Aircraft that crashed and killed President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran was an old one, and that it was better serviced than Nigeria's old Presidential Jets.

Daily Trust, what do you want to achieve by this mischievous reportage filled with half-truths? You have a nasty habit of attacking every Southern President. You did the same things to Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan, deliberately suppressing information and projecting only propaganda that would undermine their administrations.

Yet, you spent eight years being General Buhari's apologists.

What is your agenda? Do you want President Tinubu to die like President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran? God forbid!

11. After certain person's messiah lost elections and could not prove their case, they accused her and her children of bias and threatened the woman and her family. The intention was to force her to twist the arm of justice to favour their scam if she sat on their appeal. They did all of these before the Supreme Court panel was constituted. She was not part of the panel. When the panel was set up and headed by Justice Inyang Okoro JSC, we saw a thorough adjudication. One of the judges even decided to look into the case of someone who brought Chicago deposition to use to defraud his way into the presidency after he lost the elections. They asked the man why he didn't authenticate the deposition with the District Court of Illinois, or legalized with the US Embassy.

We thank Justice Kekere-Ekun's colleagues who stood firm and prevented a constitutional crisis when those who lost elections resolved to issuing threats to force their scam on the rest of us.

The other will leech you dry if opportunity presents it.
