Vision101:
The cbn is in a fix. To bring the rate of inflation and interest rate down simultaneously is no beans. If you lower the interest rate you end up releasing so much cash and inflation will go up.

One of the drivers of high exchange rate is excess liquidity. Therefore moderation in rate management is the key. There are so many macroeconomic and microeconomic dislocations in our system. Is not as simple as arithmetic.
Pls where did you learn this from? Are you sure the increase in foreign exchange is caused by the excess liquidity? Really? You guys can defend nonsense just to justify your monthly stipend as keyboard warriors.

Pls what’s the relationship between the floating of Naira and the increase in the xchange rate? Perhaps you can educate us.

Loopholes? more than what PDP met in 1999? I can see that you are very objective. Maybe we should start mentioning the loopholes and what was/is done to fix the loopholes.

I think they just recruited that guy. He is just writing lengthy and unnecessary paragraphs filled with kindergarten logic and hypocrisy.

What exactly is Tinubu doing that is different from what Buhari said he was doing and finally did in 8 years, which quite frankly this particular writer may have supported. His line of thought gave him away as one of those same Buhari 8 years bear the pain for glory praise singers.

He was very calm in calling out GEJ and Buhari as destructive elements without acknowledging the destruction Tinubu has done in just one year that far supercedes that of GEJ and Buhari combined. He subtly blamed every one; from governors to farmers, bandits to average people on the streets that may or may not be conniving with bandits etc except the man Tinubu who is the president.

Tinubu has continued with Buhari's government tradition of profligacy. Borrow money to do nothing serious but waste and steal some. Nepotism in government is still unabated. Abuse of power where non elected officials still use state instruments to oppress and intimidate others.
Security of the country is falling apart and there is obvious lack of synergy between government institutions.

Let me not even go the way of the failed subsidy removal and floating of currency or whatever he tagged it.

Anybody that look at the line items on this current government's first national budget and still talk about this government making reforms is seriously mad.
Price of commodities is now over the roof that most people cannot even afford basic things anymore but somebody is here telling people to bear teething pains for the reforms to yield fruit. Same rhetoric they used in the wasted 8 years of Buhari.

Bear teething discomfort while VP is getting 20 billion for accommodation.
What exactly is the reform(s) this government is making that we should be expecting positives later. The answer is zero

I never envisaged buying a single egg #250 in this lifetime, at least not so soon but Tinubu has made it happen.

Tinubu talked about making sacrifices for the nation, I agree on that but it becomes a problem when he is doing the exact opposite. Yes it will not take overnight for his 'policies' to yield fruit ,but what policies has he actually put in place in that direction? The subsidy he claimed to removed turned out to be very untimely and a hoax at the end of the day, he still continued using forex to sustain the naira despite vowing not to. At the end of all this, things just got worse. This is the same song your kind sang when PMB first assumed power. It seems your 'education' didn't include learning from past mistakes
What’s lacking in this government is the competence and the commitment to do the right things devoid of any selfish purposes. Let’s go to pre 1999, Obasanjo met the worst economy that what Tinubu met, but because of his commitment to the nation, he transformed the economy within a very short time. This same Tinubu and his thieves of staff rubbished the man’s achievements.

Give Tinubu 30yrs, he would not do anything positive but the blame game.
PoliticsRe: 2027: North’s Plan To Unseat Tinubu Could Destabilize Nigeria — Shehu Sani by ibabz(m): 6:58am On Jun 29, 2024
WizardOfNG:
Look, I am not asking anyone to wait unrealistically. My point is that Tinubu should be given sensible period of time, say 2 years at least, before harsh judgement from all Nigerians.

I appreciate there are genuine Nigerians, likely yourself, who are not bothered about politics and just want the wellbeing of our average citizens.

Yet the reality is that Nigeria has been damaged beyond belief most especially by the leadership of GEJ and Buhari consecutively.

It is why I feel genuinely well-meaning Nigerians should not play into the hands of desperate political elements and born-to-rule hegemonists who want to exploit understandable frustration in the land for their own benefit when they have never had and will never have anything positive to offer Nigerians.

Rather than urge Nigerians to be patient, give the government's efforts and reforms more time to produce desired results and encourage them to hold all leaders accountable, from Governors to Ministers, in this trying times, some only want to exploit disaffection with the Tinubu Presidency to make a pitch for a Presidency they do not deserve and have never done well with when their sons lead Nigeria.

As Sanni observed, no Southern leader made noise against Buhari in the eight years he was in charge let alone be convening clandestine meetings up and down.

Is it then fair this same people want power in 2027 after 8 years of Buhari? Is it Atiku who was cordial with Buhari for the 8 years PMB was President, yet has been asking Tinubu to resign a few months into his job as President, that means well for Nigeria and Nigerians?

To me what is needed are obvious if Nigeria has discerning and politically sophisticated citizenry.

The nation is truly fcked top to bottom. Therefore time will be needed to steady the ship and then steer it forward.

Secondly, Governors, if they want, can make the plight of Nigerians much better as they have direct power to intervene with measures that improve food security, employment and general wellbeing of Nigerians.

For example it is commendable, even as some argue it may be an electoral stunt, that Governor Obaseki began paying 70k minimum wage in Edo of his own free will and volition.

When has any Governor, when it is in the power of many of them, done anything similar since 1999?

We must charge them to do far more, especially now allocation to them has increased following fuel subsidy removal, rather than sit on the neck of the President alone.

Below, Tinubu implores them to help aid food security because he knows they have the power to do so.

Thirdly, and finally, taking time to understanding the problem means we gain the clarity of mind to see what is truly happening and then be able to explain issues to those less educated and less informed than us.

It is a tragedy if in very troubled times a nation cannot rely on her most educated and knowledgeable folks to rise up to the task of sacrificing , over a sensible period of time like 2 years, and then imploring others to do same for the greater good.

Tinubu only facesthe sabotage, impatience and deliberate mischief-making he does today, even though many knows he inherited a terribly damaged Country, because of tribalism, sectional hatred and a completely disunited nation on all levels.

If anyone doubts this, then they should look at how the North convened lawyers to sue the Tinubu FG for billions over the accidental air bombing in the North months into Mr.President's tenure when no such happened in the 8 years of non-stop bloodletting that characterised the Buhari Presidency.

Other nations have faced worse but can pull together and sacrifice because they have homogeneity of ideas, targets, desires and purpose.

In the end, we will all reap what we sow if we allow ourselves to be exploited by opportunities who only seek powerl for their parochial agenda and not to use transformationally.

Either you are a paid keyboard warrior or you’re being fed by your parents. I have known Tinubu since 1999, he never cared about the masses. I’m sure he’s looking for more ways to inflict pains on Nigerians. I hate it when people like said the past governments have destroyed things. The questions I have for you is this:

1. Who removed subsidies with plans
2. Who floated Naira before appointing cabinet
3 would you have been saying the same thing if another person was the president or you’re saying this because you are eating from the government?

If you can answer these questions

This is a welcomed development. I believe with patience, these administration's reforms will start to yield the desired results. Agreed, the reforms will lead to high inflation and inflict pains on the citizens in the short-term, but in the mid and long-term, we will reap bountifully from this.

Believe me, there is no way we could have continued subsidizing fuel and foreign exchange. Our economy will collapse under such burden due to our population. Our population is supposed to be a blessing, but our clueless leaders has turned it into a curse. If at 200m+, the government was already borrowing to pay subsidy and salaries, what do you think will happen in the next two years? If government is already struggling to pay subsidy for 200m people, how will they be able to afford it in the years ahead with the way Nigerians breed children like rats?

Things are really tough right now I must confess, and I hope the government can keep intervening from time to time to lessen the burden on the common man.
Is either you’re not in this country or you’re being fed, or being paid to share this nonsense. Pls mention the reforms being implemented by this government. Do you think the government hasn’t started paying to strengthen the Naira? Do you think the government has not started paying subsidies?.

I feel so sorry for this country whenever I see how some people, especially some lazy Nigerian youths are defending some of the world’s most laughable policies of this government.

Pls can someone educate me why Binance did not affect other countries’ economy but only Nigeria’s? Even our next-door neighbors, Benin and Ghana are not affected, but only Nigeria economy.

Comparing the Binance vs. US with Binance vs. Nigeria is very absurd and ridiculous.

Binance vs. US
Binance, a “registered” company in the US was charged because the company disregarded anti-money laundering Know Your Customer laws, failed to register as a money transmitter, and wilfully violated U.S. sanctions tied to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

As a registered company operating in the US, you are required to comply with the U.S. sanctions tied to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

That was why the CEO pleaded guilty and was convicted by the US court.

Binance vs. Nigeria
But in the case of Binance vs Nigeria, Binance was never a registered company in Nigeria. “The Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) declared that “Binance Nigeria is neither registered nor regulated by the Commission and its operations in Nigeria and are therefore illegal. Any member of the investing public dealing with the entity is doing so at his/her own risk”.

We have said it several times the main reasons why Naira is falling, but it seems some people just decided to be stupid and foolish at the same time. Please how can a country remove subsidies and at the same time float her currency and expected the same currency to stabilize?

Aside the bad policies embarked upon by this useless government, do you know how much have left the country in the name of JAPA? People sold their belongings, withdrew their savings and took the money out of circulation and you expected the economy to stable?

Please wake you
