yarimo:I I’ve heard this argument too many times, and it simply doesn’t hold water. Atiku was the Vice President of Nigeria, not the Governor of Adamawa. His responsibility was to the entire nation, just as his boss, Obasanjo, focused on nation-building rather than just his home state. The performance of Adamawa lies squarely with the state government, not the presidency. Strangely, many are quick to credit Tinubu for Lagos’ progress but refuse to hold Adamawa’s governors accountable, instead blaming Atiku. That’s inconsistent and makes no sense. |
parags:But whether legally or not, the family should know their whereabouts. Holding someone discreetly isn’t right. Do you know how many innocent people they are holding illegally? Especially journalists. |
Trymeee:Abeg leave am. Na the Laptop & Stipend Association – professional keyboard warriors paid to throw online insults. They plenty for Nairaland. |
Softmirror:Exactly! You’re right again! You must be a genius. Because the President is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. That’s why Tinubu once criticized Jonathan, saying that the responsibility, or as he put it, the “buck” must stop at the president’s desk. |
Softmirror:I said it, they have started showing their faces. By their comments you shall know them. Oga, pls travel from your state to Borno or go spend a weekend with peace of mind in Jos. I just want to confirm something Modified: in fact to eat once a day they hard me nowadays. Abi you get change from your monthly stipend? |
@Moderators, Seun et al, let me not lie, I already know this one no go smell front page, unless NEPA mistakenly uploads it. |
#ProveMeWrongChallenge The number one job of any government is simple: protect lives and property. If you can’t keep people safe, and you can’t make sure they can afford to eat, then all your “achievements” are just noise. You can burn N15 trillion on a Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, drown another ₦3 trillion inside the lagoon for “3rd Mainland Bridge underwater repairs,” cut ribbons like it’s a wedding ceremony, wear your agbada for photo ops, and spray big numbers on TV like confetti… …but to the man who can’t buy garri, the mother boiling empty water so her children can sleep on an empty stomach, or the student now forced to take loans just to attend a public school after you jacked tuition fees up by 100%–300%, those so-called “big wins” are nothing more than noise. And please don’t tell me the time is too short or that Tinubu “needs more time to deliver.” It didn’t take Umaru Yar’Adua more than six months to make a meaningful impact and ease life for ordinary Nigerians. As the Yoruba say, “Ìyán tí yóò dùn, lójú ni a ti máa rí i” — you can tell a good pounded yam from the first taste. If the signs are not there early, don’t expect magic later. Now, let’s be honest. From where I’m standing, the only people singing this government’s praises right now fall into four categories: The “Chop-Life” Crew: those eating directly from the government’s buffet table (you know them). The Laptop & Stipend Association: professional keyboard warriors and e-rodents paid to throw online insults like market women throw ground pepper. The Yoruba Ponu Confederation; aka the Idi Beberere gang: professional defenders of the indefensible. The Hypnotized & Bewitched Society: people whose sense of reasoning has been spiritually padlocked and the key thrown inside the Atlantic Ocean. I could be wrong… but it’s starting to look like I’m 100% right. So here’s my challenge, #ProveMeWrongChallenge: If you’re still supporting this government, tell me just ONE thing Tinubu’s administration has done that has genuinely, measurably with empirical evidence and undeniably made your life better. Not what they promised. Not the staged drama they parade on TV, like those infamous fake bishops during the campaign. Not some distant “in the future” benefit. But what you have actually felt in your pocket, your stomach, or your safety: Can you truly send your children to school without loans? Can you afford 3 square meals daily from your salary without borrowing? Can you build a house without drowning in credit? Can you travel state to state with peace of mind? Has your electricity genuinely improved in terms of generated megawatts, beyond the seasonal “body language” hype? Can you farm with confidence? Can you buy even a tokunbo car from your salary without a loan? In short, can you honestly afford or achieve anything from your income today without borrowing, begging, or breaking the law? If you can prove it, I’ll take back my words. If you can’t, then maybe… just maybe… you’re one of the four above. I’ll just sit back and watch as the Yoruba Ponu Confederation and the Laptop & Tablet Warriors skip the question entirely and dive straight into insults because mentioning a single thing they’ve actually gained is harder than finding snow in Lagos. Grab your popcorn, folks, it’s about to go down… the comment section theatre is about to begin. |
Chivisee:We’re still waiting to hear how this government has helped you. Or should we just assume you’ve joined the “Laptop & Stipend Association” for professional online insults? |
Message from Yoruba Ronu to Yoruba Ponu (The Sophisticated Mo.rons). So you’re still supporting this government just because Tinubu is Yoruba? Wow! Pele o, professor of ethnic politics, but can you point to even one thing his government has done that has actually made your life better as a Yoruba person? Oh, you’re still holding on to that ancient proverb, “Omo eni ki n se’di bebere…”? Nice. So tell us, how exactly are you enjoying this idi bebere you’re defending? Because last I checked, you’re still taking loans to eat, trekking to save transport, you can’t even afford a Tokunbo car and pricing garri like it’s gold dust, while the “idi bebere” in Aso Rock is adding more layers than Agege bread. Shey your mu.mu no too much? If you’re still shouting “Asiwaju, on your manhood we stand!” while your pocket is on life support and your stomach is singing the national anthem in hunger, it’s not loyalty, it’s spiritual bondage. This is no longer politics; this is advanced-level slavery mixed with witchcraft and a sprinkle of self-delusion. And please, stop letting those chopping billions tell you, the one licking plate at home that Tinubu is your best option simply because he’s Yoruba. That’s not brotherhood, that’s brainwashing. Remember, Ajumobi o kan tán ú… family ties don’t pay rent, my dear. |
Y the time APC is done with Nigeria, Nigeria itself will be done with Nigerians |
Once upon a time, well, in 1980, Nigeria decided to build what would become Africa’s longest bridge. The Third Mainland Bridge, stretching about 11.8 kilometres, began under President Shehu Shagari’s civilian government. Then came Muhammadu Buhari’s military regime (1983–1985), which pushed it forward, and finally, General Ibrahim Babangida cut the ribbon in 1990. Back then, the bill was around ₦1 billion, roughly $800 million in 1980s money and everyone clapped. Lagos had its mighty bridge. It was meant to be a symbol of connection, not a bottomless pit. Fast-forward to today, and it seems the bridge has developed a taste for money, not just small change, but billions. In just the last two years, under the Tinubu administration, over ₦24 billion has already been poured into repairs and “rehabilitation”: November 9–10, 2023: N21.074 billion for “emergency rehabilitation” (deck asphalt replacement, underwater repairs, etc.), with Julius Berger handling the job. The flag-off ceremony was like a wedding. February 4, 2025, Just three months later, another N3.571 billion was approved, this time for investigative and diagnostic works on the same bridge. That’s N24.645 billion gone. You’d think that after swallowing that kind of cash, the bridge would be good for the next decade, right? Wrong. A few days ago, Works Minister David Umahi announced that the bridge now needs a “full structural rehabilitation”, price tag: between ₦3.6 trillion and ₦3.8 trillion (about $2 billion). Yes, trillion with a “T.” Here’s the kicker: part of this mega-rehabilitation cost is for fixing underwater structural issues. But wait, wasn’t underwater repair part of the ₦21 billion job in November 2023? So, are we talking about the same water? Did new water suddenly appear? Is the Lagoon fighting back? And this is not for a new bridge, just “maintenance.” Now, while you and I can drive on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and see what billions are building, this $2 billion is going somewhere you can’t see. Who’s ready to dive 10 metres under the lagoon with a waterproof calculator to verify? anyone? For perspective, the planned Fourth Mainland Bridge, an entirely new 37–38 km structure is budgeted at $2.5 billion. Yet somehow, rehabilitating 11.8 km of the existing Third Mainland Bridge will gulp almost the same amount. Moral of the story: New car, $25k. Repairing your old one, $20k. You tell me which one smells funny. By the time the APC is done with Nigeria, Nigeria itself will be done with Nigerians. And this bridge… it might just be another most expensive invisible project in the country’s history. |
Awoleesu:I’m deeply sorry if you feel offended by the way I responded to your comment. But bruh you may need to pay a close attention to the first lines: “𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗝𝗢 [𝟴𝗬𝗥𝗦] — The purchasing power of ₦10,000 at the start of the tenure was equivalent to ₦24,348 at the end of tenure”. “𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗝𝗢 [𝟴𝗬𝗥𝗦] — The purchasing power of ₦10,000 at the start of the tenure was equivalent to ₦24,348 at the end of tenure.” It says “at the start”, which simply means what they met. Also it says “at the end” which means the achievement they are leaving behind. No offense intended bruh |
Reference:Oga, biko don’t bring that sentiment here. Jonathan was the worst under PDP. Pls go back and study the data again with an open heart. If you still don’t understand, I can then enlighten you. |
Awoleesu:Seriously? Education is not a scam after all. Let me explain to you in a term that you would understand. At the beginning of Obasanjo’s government, the purchasing power he met was 24,000. By the time he handed over to Yaradua, it was reduced to 16,000. And that was what Yaradua met in 2007. Yaradua further reduced it to 14,000. And that’s what Jonathan met. But if after this explanation and you still don’t understand then you might need to go and learn comprehension |
They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different outcome. Nigerians have tested both PDP and APC. The facts are clear: under PDP, purchasing power moved from ₦24,000 in 1999 to a low of ₦16,000 by the end of their tenure in 2015; not perfect, but still within a manageable range. This was the economy APC, the self-proclaimed “progressives” inherited. Instead of improving it, they wrecked it. In less than a decade, they’ve dragged us from ₦16,000 to over ₦300,000 by the close of 2024. Give this anti-progressive party another four years, and the economy won’t just be damaged, it will be unrecognizable, perhaps we might be looking at N1000,000. |
esnbrutality:You forgot to add isonu… “ awon motivational speakers isonu” |
kingthreat:I don’t understand how you people reason actually. I have read the news over and over again but I didn’t see where Obi asked that they should free the lady. His concern was the “dehumanising treatment” of Emmanson, who was stripped publicly”. He also said the same jail sentence should be extended to KWAM1. Abi you read something different from what everyone else read ni? |
PlasmaTV:I wanted to ask the same question but decided to just ignore him because he doesn’t deserve my attention |
Armaggedon:You think so? You might need to read this my conspiracy theory https://www.nairaland.com/8492965/conspiracy-thursday-conspiracy-calculation-nigerias |
“Nigeria is at a crossroads, and I hear the call of duty once again. I am not returning to politics for power, but to restore hope, unity, and progress.” This statement from Jonathan just confirmed my conspiracy theory. |
Like I said in my last conspiracy Thursday, Jonathan isn’t in the race to win, he’s there for another mission. I also believe he wouldn’t be spending his money for campaign. My theory is becoming a reality. In the other news, Tambuwa was just arrested. It’s time to enter into a negotiation of likely Jonathan’s running mate. This I have seen. |
eyesoflagos:You didn’t add the ewa agoyin with hot bread: my number one unforgettable experience. Everywhere I have stayed I haven’t seen anyone close to that experience. |
SeeWahala:I still don’t get why Tinubu and his boys are the ones praying and begging for the Peter Obi as the choice of the opposition. Maybe they know something we don’t know. All they are praying for is for Peter Obi to become the presidential candidate of any party. |
boysco:Honestly I have been considering buying something like this for my farm; go and spend the weekend at the farm. But the security issues is my major fear. I don’t want to be kidnapped. |
WizardOfNG:What really, please? It seems Nigerians truly have short memories. You people only sing one chorus: “Light has improved,” “How’s the power situation in your area?” and the ever-famous “Buhari’s body language.” And conveniently, these praises usually come between May and November; the rainy season when hydro power systems are naturally working better. But as soon as December to April rolls in, we’re fed the same tired excuses: vandalism, sabotage, technical faults, and every story in the book. The question I still don’t have an answer to is, who exactly do us like this? I hope you can come back by January to repeat this statement. |

Bendeco02:Tinubu knows he can never defeat Obi in the south east. He needs someone from the region that can split the dominance with Obi; Jonathan seems to be the anointed pawn. |
MrMcJay:Yes she’s right. Jonathan is not contesting to go back to Aso Rock, as a matter of fact, he’s contesting to support Tinubu and pay Atiku back what he did against him in 2015. Such alliance doesn’t come cheap. |
yemre:I will respond to you in due course. Right now I have issues with my glasses and I can’t really see clearly. I will respond after fixing my glasses. I won’t allow this misinformation slide unchallenged. |
Image123:It was an honest debate and discussion about government and their deceit but you decided to add family. If I decided to answer you according to your folly people would say I’m too harsh. Can’t you people just talk without going personally especially with someone you don’t know anything about? Is that too hard for your brain to comprehend ? |
