Politics / ”why President Buhari Sent Soldiers To ‘assassinate Me’ – Nnamdi Kanu by Ibakagists(m): 7:57am On Sep 13, 2017
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has alleged that the soldiers who held him hostage in his house were acting on the order of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Kanu claimed that Buhari gave the “Hausa, Fulani” soldiers’ order to assassinate him because he “strongly believe” and fight for the “liberation of Biafran people.”

Speaking through IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, in a statement sent to DAILY POST, Kanu claimed that the Nigerian Army in a bid to perfect the assassination plot had attacked his convoy at “Ubakala junction on his way for an official assignment.”

The statement reads, “

We the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and it’s leadership worldwide under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu the director Radio and Biafra television wish to bring to the attention of well-meaning Nigerians and the entire world that Nigeria Government led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari and his core Hausa fulani dominated jihadist army and Police in Nigerian uniforms have been drafted to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s house in Afaraukwu Ibeku Umuahia Abia State.
“The jihadist soldiers in Nigerian Army and Police uniforms surrounded our leader’s house today been 12th September 2017 with the instructions from Major General Muhammadu Buhari and those cabals in Aso Rock to assassinate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other IPOB members who strongly believe and fight in the struggle for the liberation of Biafran people.

“Right now, there is much tensions in Umuahia, the home town of Mazi Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The Nigerian federal high in collaboration with the federal government of Nigeria led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari seized Kanu’s traveling documents because they wanted to kill him in Nigeria, this they have shown. But the killing of unarmed civilians in Biafra including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must not be accepted by Biafrans both home and in diaspora.

“The Nigerian soldiers drafted to Biafra to assassinate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other members of IPOB mainly came from the core North of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebby, Gigawa, Kano, Kaduna and Kastina states. On 10th September been Sunday the Nigerian Army killed our members in Umuahia, yesterday been Monday 11th of September 2017 the jihadist soldiers in Nigerian Army uniform attacked Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s convoy at Ubakala junction on his way going for an official assignment. The Nigerian Army fired live bullets at his vehicle including his convoy.”

The statement said the Operation Python Dance exercise had turned the once peace region of South East into a dangerous zone.

This was as IPOB claimed that Buhari ordered soldiers under the exercise to harass and intimidate Igbos donning Biafra insignias.

“It’s a pity that in a democratic setting like this one in Nigeria can turn South Eastern Region into a war. Precisely the peaceful area of Ubakala junction, Isi Gate and Ibeku Nnamdi Kanu’s home town has become a dangerous zone since the declaration of infamous OPERATION PYTHON DANCE in the south East.

“We are on the know that Hausa-Fulani jihadist terrorists in Nigerian military uniform and regalia were sent by Major General Muhammadu to intimidate, harass and kill Biafrans in large numbers and not to fight kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists.

“The Operation Python Dance 11 are now seriously embarking on forceful abduction of Biafrans, brutalizing any anybody seen with Biafra insignia whether it is in your vehicle or houses. IPOB is putting the world on notice that the Nigerian Hausa-Fulani dominated government in a well organised plan to kill our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and Biafrans through the lunching of OPERATION PYTHON DANCE 11 in the south Eastern part of Nigeria.

“These plots to assassinate our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in a broad daylight will trigger a catastrophic situation in Nigeria and parts of Nigeria, if they succeed in their evil plots,” the statement added.

Politics / EFCC Uncovers Patience Jonathan’s N6bn Plaza In Abuja by Ibakagists(m): 7:48am On Sep 13, 2017
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has reportedly uncovered an uncompleted eight-storey building allegedly belonging to Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.
The magnificent edifice, located within the Central Business District, is between the National Mosque and the Federal Secretariat, Punch reports.
The ex-First Lady allegedly acquired the property through her foundation known as Aribawa Aurera Reach Out Foundation.
In a document, which has been attached to a court application, the anti-graft agency said it had written to the Corporate Affairs Commission to get the identities of the directors of the foundation who are believed to be fronts for Patience.
The anti-graft agency has also written eight banks: Skye Bank, Fidelity Bank, First Bank, Union Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Zenith Bank, United Bank for Africa and Unity Bank.
The document read, “Plot 1350 Cadastral Zone A00 CBD which was allocated to Ariwabai Aurera Reach Out Foundation in 2010 and Certificate of Occupancy issued in 2011. The plot bears an eight-storey building still under construction.

“Inference may be drawn from investigation that the suspect’s (Patience) last known official position was permanent secretary in Bayelsa State. Hence, there is no way such magnificent architectural edifices could have been built within a short space of time.
“There is a high probability that it could have been built with the proceeds of crime. It is evidently clear that it is a case of money laundering but there is a need to do more investigation.”
“In view of the foregoing, I request for an interim forfeiture order on the two properties amongst others linked to the suspect and believed to have been acquired from the proceeds of crime.
“This is particularly very important because attempts to mark the properties were resisted and even the portion that was successfully marked was later cleaned off by the agents of the suspect.”

Politics / How Buhari Tackled Recession Caused By Jonathan In One Year – Femi Adesina by Ibakagists(m): 10:47am On Sep 06, 2017
The presidency yesterday said hard work and policies of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration made Nigeria exit recession.

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, who blamed the recession on mistakes of the past administration, said the government tackled the problem in just about a year.

Adesina made the remarks at a solidarity rally on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

A statement by the State House Deputy Director (Information), Abiodun Oladunjoye, said the march was organised in support of the Federal Government by the Centre for Civil Society and Justice.

“You have chosen a very auspicious day for this solidarity rally. Earlier today, we were told that Nigeria had officially exited recession,” Adesina said.

“That shows that we have a government that is working for us, we have a government that is interested in our welfare, we have a government that is interested in our well-being.”

He assured the gathering that he would relay their message of support and solidarity on the unity of Nigeria to President Buhari.

“You know the President swore to uphold the Constitution and the Constitution recognises Nigeria as one indissoluble entity. The President has sworn to keep the unity of the country and whatever it takes; he will keep to that pledge,” he said.

The presidential aide advised those “beating the drums of separation” to keep their peace, reiterating government’s resolve to preserve Nigeria’s unity, cohesion and togetherness.

Convener of the rally, Mr Goodluck Obi, said the group wholeheartedly supports President Buhari’s uncommon resolve to fix Nigeria.

He said, “We want to sound a note of warning to both organs of government, that we the Nigerian people would no longer allow our collective destiny to be toyed with like a game.”

“We are more than ever ready to mobilise the people to do the needful within the ambit of the law; enough is enough.”

Education / ‘federal Government Delaying End To Strike’- ASUU by Ibakagists(m): 4:04pm On Sep 05, 2017

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Monday said that the Federal Government should be held responsible for the unions continuous strike.
The union said that the way the FG was handling the development represented the mockery of global standards of university education .
ASUU chairman at the University of Ibadan, Dr Deji Omole , who said this on a radio programme monitored in Ibadan, said the FG could end the strike by implementing the agreement it reached with the union . He explained that all that the union was demanding from the FG was to use public funds to develop public education in the country .
He noted that the union would not shy away from embracing purposeful dialogue with the FG over the development.
“ASUU has never run away from negotiations. The issue in connection with the strike is about implementation and not negotiation as being peddled by the Minister of Labour , Chris Ngige .
It was sad that successive government , including the incumbent failed to realise that funding education is an investment which can bring about enduring positive change in Nigeria ,” said Omole .
The ASUU boss in UI added that the union would continue to fight to force the FG to wake up to its responsibilities of investing in public education .
“When you reached agreement you must implement it . They just finished the Ileya festival and why do we celebrate it ? Because someone promised to sacrifice his son to God and when he decided to fulfil it , God replaced that with ram and that is why we are celebrating . Jesus Christ also promised to come and die for the sin of the world and he came and fulfilled that promise . That is why you still have people who believe in his second coming.
“Why will government not fulfil the promises contained in the signed agreements ? That is what brings crisis . Government should see education as investment . The products will come out to change society . University is to develop ideas to change society . What we are doing in the universities is a mockery of university education . Government should pump in money so that we can solve Nigeria ’ s problems here in Nigeria .
“If our universities are properly funded , we can conduct cutting edge researches that can take us out of the recession . What we are simply saying is that FG should use public funds to fund public education. Chris Ngige is naive on this issue.
“He should check his records and see if there are new demands in his file . University lecturers and students are not the one who created recession . The ruling class through their activities plunged Nigeria into economic recession . Government should stop establishing new universities if they cannot fund existing ones. Universities are not constituency project, ” Omole said .

Politics / “lagos Will Become Africa’s Third Largest Economy Before I Die” – Says Obasanjo by Ibakagists(m): 2:20pm On Aug 03, 2017
According to the former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Lagos will become Africa’s third largest economy before he dies.

The former president made this known yesterday at the book launch of a book titled, “Making Africa Work”, co-authored by the former president and three other authors. The other authors are Greg Mills, Director of Brenthurst Foundation; Jeffrey Herbst, President of NEWSEUM and Dickie Davis, a retired major general.

The former president said the Lagos State government is working towards making the state an economic hub, which he jokingly said would come to fruition before he passes on.

Obasanjo, who is the chair of Brenthurst Foundation, disclosed that plans are underway for the foundation and Lagos state government to make the state the third largest economy on the continent. In his words ,he said;

“(Even though) People said I look like someone who is in the departure lounge.”
“Lagos will become the third largest economy before I take my boarding pass.”
The former president also said that Africa is not a poor continent, adding that the continent is only poor by choice, urging Africans to focus on wealth creation and job opportunities, saying the continent should complain less about poverty.

“Africa is poorly managed,” he said, adding that, “We are poor by choice (and) we will also get out of that poverty by choice.” He said
