The Saudi Riyal has been pegged at a fixed rate to the USD since the 70s or 80s. One can't peg currency on oil with its fluctuations. And the USD is relatively stable.

For a worldly traveler (as you often claim) the 2nd paragraph is suspect. First, who are the “good people” Nigerians should have voted for in 2019/2023?

Natural resources is like AUDIO WEALTH until the country is able to

a. Dig the resources out of the ground (extraction)
b. Convert it to finished products (design and production)
c. Find a market and sell the finished products to the world (marketing, sales, export market, tariffs / international politics)

Until a resource rich country can do the above, its people will remain POOR! eg NIGERIA!!!
