When this issue came up, once u open whatsapp you would see this warning to either accept their new terms or lose ur account with a certain time.

That decision was very unpopular and whatsapp lost some members while rivals like telegram and signal gained more members.

Facebook had to do a lot damage control and tacitly withdrew the threat of anyone losing their account for not accepting such terms.

All these happened very openly online and offline and everyone knows it, in fact it has actually almost been forgotten , then four months after our ever vigilant government started warning Nigerians about the consequences of Facebook latest terms, what does that say about the seriousness of such government?

Don't u think this is the way they been handling the affairs of this country that we are in such a mess.

A reasonable government when criticized, look into such criticism and make amends.

However I am really tired of Nigerians pointing fingers at the ‘government’. And there is this “them” and “us” divide. It is high time for Nigerian people to understand that we are the government and the government are Nigerians. The government of the country displays the character of the people. If you say the government is stupid, slow, lazy, indolent, unresponsive, irresponsible, looting thieves, corrupt, disorderly, lawless etc etc, these are the character of the average Nigerian citizen. Invariably when the find themselves in position of authority and governance, all of those character comes into display.

Instead of building lasting public infrastructure across the country, our officials are stealing public funds not to set up businesses, factories or large scale farming but to buy cars, travel, girlfriends, clubbing etc demonstrating the show off, low mentality of the average stupid Nigerians.

So Nigerians should stop finger pointing and change their own character. Until then there will be no solution to our national and society problems. Poverty and backwardness will persist - shame!
