These resignations and new partnerships are expected to yield significant benefits for the community, including increased access to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment programs. The horrific petrol tanker explosion that occurred yesterday at Dikko Junction, Niger State, claiming the lives of at least 80 people and injuring many more, is a devastating tragedy that demands immediate attention and action.
This incident is a grim reminder of the risks Nigerians take to survive and highlights the poor state of our road infrastructure and inadequate vehicle maintenance, which together contribute to such accidents.
Addressing these systemic issues is essential to prevent further tragedies and ensure the safety of all citizens.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Niger State government, the victims, their families, and the entire community affected by this terrible loss.
OGBAKOR IKWERRE WORLDWIDE DISOWNS JOHN AZUTA MBATA, STRIPS HIM OFF OF HIS IKWERRE IDENTITY.
The Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organization Worldwide, on behalf of Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality, after passionate and exhaustive review of the sacrilegious action of Senator John Azuta Mbata, becoming the President – General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, a socio-cultural organization of Igbo People of Nigeria, wish to state in unambiguous and no uncertain terms as follows;
(1) That Senator John Azuta Mbata has the inalienable right to belong to any association of his choice in Nigeria as enshrined in Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
(2) That by becoming the President – General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, an exclusive organisation of Igbo people, he has willingly and freely renounced his membership and identity of Ikwerre people (Iwhuruohna).
(3) That his action is not the collective view, will, position and thinking of Eneka community, Apara Kingdom and the entire Ikwerre Ethic Nationality.
(4) That having freely taken a position to be an Igbo man, and to occupy the position of President – General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, the Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide, unreservedly and unequivocally disclaims and denounce his action; as such action is his private decision taken without the consent of his Community, Kingdom and Iwhuruohna.
(5) That as an Igbo man, he is now seen, regarded and declared as a stranger living in Ikwerre land. Therefore, he has been barred from participating in any Iwhuruohna gathering, meetings or political representation starting from his Eneka Community, Apara kingdom and Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide.
(6) That all awards, honours, titles bestowed on him by any Organization in Ikwerre are here by withdrawn.
7). That we call on the international Community, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, HRM Eze A. A. Worlu – Wodo DSSRS, JP, Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and all lovers of Iwhuruohna that Senator John Azuta Mbata has ceased to represent, speak and act on behalf of Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality.
8.) That heavy and appropriate sanctions awaits those who will betray, and sell out their Ikwerre identity on a platter of political expediency and mere mess of porridge, according to Ikwerre custom and tradition.
The Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide has taken a bold step by withdrawing the membership of Senator John Azuta Mbata, declaring him a stranger to Ikwerre land.
This decisive action was made in response to Senator Mbata’s acceptance of the position of President-General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, a socio-cultural organization of the Igbo people.
The organization’s statement, signed by Eze Barr. Godspower Onuekwa Ph.D., President-General, and Barr. Nyebuchi Philips, Secretary-General, clearly outlined the reasons for this decision.
“By becoming the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, an exclusive organization of Igbo people, he has willingly and freely renounced his membership and identity with the Ikwerre people (Iwhuruohna),” the statement read.
The organization emphasized that Senator Mbata’s actions were not representative of the Ikwerre people, stating that his decision was “not the collective view, will, position, or thinking of Eneka Community, Apara Kingdom, and the entire Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality.”
Furthermore, the organization declared: “As an Igbo man, he is now seen, regarded, and declared as a stranger living in Ikwerre land. Therefore, he has been barred from participating in any Iwhuruohna gathering, meetings, or political representation starting from his Eneka Community, Apara Kingdom, and Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide.”
In addition, the organization announced that all awards, honors, and titles bestowed on Senator Mbata by any organization in Ikwerre have been withdrawn.
The organization also issued a stern warning to others who may consider following in Senator Mbata’s footsteps, stating that “heavy and appropriate sanctions await those who betray and sell out their Ikwerre identity on a platter of political expediency and a mere mess of porridge, according to Ikwerre custom and tradition.”
In the heart of Benue State, Gabriel Orpin, a humble farmer, spends his days tending to rice, cassava, and yam on his small farm. But this Christmas season, Gabriel’s life took an extraordinary turn when he hit the ₦5 million jackpot on BetKing Virtuals.
“I’ve always loved farming,” Gabriel shared, his voice brimming with pride. “It’s my own farm, and things have been moving well. But honestly, I never imagined something like this would happen to me.” Gabriel’s journey with BetKing started earlier this year. “It was in June when I tried their Virtuals for the first time,” he recalled. “I liked it immediately because I kept winning small amounts, ₦5,000 here, ₦18,000 there. But this ₦5 million jackpot? That one blew my mind”
When Gabriel got the call confirming his win, he could hardly believe it. “I thought, ‘Maybe this is a mistake.’ But they explained that I played the minimum amount every day of the promotion period, and everything became real. My family couldn’t believe it either” Traveling to Lagos to claim his prize was a leap of faith for Gabriel. “People told me Lagos is a risky place, but I said, ‘This is my chance. I have to go.’ And when I got there, I saw it was true. BetKing really came through for me.”
This life-changing moment is part of BetKing’s Christmas Jingle Bets festivities campaign, which also include the BetKing Danfo Santa initiative. Danfo Santa spread joy across Lagos by surprising individuals and communities with essential food items and cheer, adding to the festive spirit. She concluded. Gabriel already has big plans for his winnings. “First, I’ll buy land to expand my farm. I’ll also build a small house for myself and my family. Farming is my passion, and this money will help me grow it even more. I also want to start a small business to keep the money flowing.”
But Gabriel’s excitement isn’t just about himself. “I’ll be sharing this opportunity with my friends. I’ll show them how to bet on BetKing Virtuals because you never know, one of them might win big like I did.” As he wrapped up his story, Gabriel had one final message: “Thank you, BetKing. May God bless you for what you’ve done for me. I pray you keep bringing joy to others just like this.” Gabriel’s win is a shining example of how BetKing is transforming lives this holiday season, creating opportunities for customers to dream big and achieve even bigger.
Nengi Akinola, Head of Marketing at BetKing, shared her excitement about Gabriel’s story. “Gabriel’s win represents everything BetKing stands for, transforming lives and creating memorable experiences for our customers” she said. “We are thrilled to see how this jackpot will help him achieve his dreams and inspire others in his community. At BetKing, our goal is to ensure that Every Bet is an Adventure, and Gabriel’s story is a proof of that.”
GICN FAULTS THE NIGERIA POLICE FORCE FOR DECLARING ITS PRESIDENT, BARR. EDWARD OMAGA WANTED OVER ALLEGED CRIMINAL DEFAMATION AND OTHER SUNDRY OFFENCES
... SAYS IT IS A WITCH-HUNT AND ATTEMPT TO SILENCE WHISTLEBLOWERS
Global Integrity Crusade Network (GICN), an anti-corruption, human rights and pro-democracy Civil Society Organization based in Abuja has faulted the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi for declaring their President, Barr. Edward Omaga wanted over the exposure of corrupt practices in Guaranty Trust Bank Limited, GTB. The group had on 3rd October 2024 taken a bold step in the fight against corruption by presenting a Private Investigation Report to the media on illegal activities of GTB, before submitting same to various crime fighting agencies in Nigeria, UK, USA and Ghana.
It was expected that the report, which was equally received by the Inspector-General of Police on 7th October 2024 would trigger necessary actions, including probe of GTB top Management staff. Unfortunately, things turned around and Segun Julius Agbaje, the Group CEO of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO Plc), which owns GTB engaged the services of the Nigeria Police Force to descend heavily on Barr. Edward Omaga and members of his group.
Rather than call the group to write a statement in support of the report, the Police acting through DCP Ibrahim Zungura sent an invitation letter dated 10th October 2024 to Barr. Edward Omaga, asking him to come and answer questions connected to his commission of the offences of Criminal Defamation, Cyberbullying, Economic Sabotage, and Conduct likely to Cause a Breach of Public Peace. This is nothing short of an attempt to make the hunter become the hunted.
With this development, GICN and its leadership felt threatened that injustice was looming. They quickly filed court cases to wit; GICN Vs. CBN & 7 Ors. - SUIT NO: FHC/ABJ/CS/1549/2024, GICN Vs. IGP - Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/742/24, EDWARD OMAGA Vs. DIG & 6 Ors. - Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1588/24 and EDWARD OMAGA v. INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE & 2 Ors. - Suit No. CV/5181/2024. Despite the fact that these cases were served on all parties, the Police went ahead to take so many illegal actions. First, they watch-listed the International Passport of Barr. Edward Omaga and blocked his bank accounts. Then they proceeded to declare him wanted in the media today as if he was a common criminal.
A Case of Corruption Fighting Back!
No doubt, the present ordeal of Barr. Edward Omaga in the hands of Police reflects a typical scenario where corruption fights back with vigour. In a country like Nigeria where those in power can easily manipulate the system to protect their interests, it is not uncommon for whistleblowers and activists to find themselves on the receiving end of threats, intimidation, and in some cases, prosecution. The allegations contained in the GICN’s report are not trivial; they concern the integrity of one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions and its top executives. In any functioning democracy, such allegations would prompt a serious and independent investigation to ascertain their veracity or otherwise.
It is only after the allegations, together with documents supplied, are confirmed through forensic analysis to be false that the whistleblower can be held liable for criminal defamation. We submit that the method adopted by the Police to tackle this serious issue suggests a deliberate attempt to bury the truth and silence those seeking justice.
Furthermore, the charges of Criminal Defamation and Cyberbullying being levied against the whistleblower are nothing but smokescreens designed to intimidate him. It is a clear way of suppressing his right to free speech guaranteed under Section 39 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights and other international human rights instruments. This approach reveals a broader problem in the system - one where the rule of law is often applied selectively, depending on whose interests are at stake.
Criminal Defamation as a Tool for Suppression
Criminal Defamation is a controversial legal concept that has been used by powerful individuals and institutions to shield themselves from scrutiny. In Nigerian States like Lagos, Edo and Ekiti as well as many parts of the world, criminal defamation has been repealed because of their potential for abuse. One wonders why the Federal Capital Territory Abuja would retain such obnoxious law as a potent tool for silencing dissent people and whistleblowers.
The very essence of democracy is the ability of citizens to hold leaders and institutions accountable. When the Police or any other law enforcement agency starts wielding defamation charges as weapon, it undermines the principles of transparency and accountability. This is not just about the specific case against GTB; it is a broader issue of governance and justice in Nigeria. The fact that the Police, whose role is to investigate crimes, are now being used to shield those accused of misconduct speaks volumes about the state of the nation.
Economic Sabotage and Conduct Likely to Cause Breach of Public Peace
The inclusion of Economic Sabotage and Conduct likely to Cause a Breach of Public Peace in the charges against Barr. Edward Omaga is even more perplexing. It begs the question: how does exposing potential corruption within a private financial institution amount to economic sabotage? If anything, allowing corrupt practices to go unchecked is what sabotages the economy. Corruption undermines investor confidence, drains public resources, and stifles economic growth. Those who speak out against it should be seen as patriots, not saboteurs.
Similarly, the charge of Conduct likely to Cause a Breach of Public Peace appears to be a veiled attempt to criminalize activism. Peace and stability are not threatened by those who expose wrongdoing; rather, they are threatened by those who engage in corrupt practices and those who seek to cover them up.
The Need for Collective Action
This case should serve as a wake-up call for all Nigerians, particularly lawyers, anti-corruption crusaders, and lovers of justice. It is a clarion call to stand in solidarity with whistleblowers and activists who risk their lives and livelihoods to expose corruption. Nigeria cannot progress if its citizens are afraid to speak out against wrongdoing for fear of victimization.
The law is meant to protect the weak from the excesses of the powerful, not the other way round. When the Police, which is an institution entrusted with enforcing the law, starts misusing its powers to protect the corrupt, the entire system of governance is at risk. This is not the Nigeria that our founding fathers envisioned. We must all rise to the occasion and demand accountability from those in power.
The fight against corruption is not an easy one, but it is one that must be fought if Nigeria is to achieve its full potential. We cannot afford to let the powerful silence the voices of truth and justice. The Police must be called to order, and the investigation into the allegations against GTB must proceed without further delay.
Conclusion
Nigeria is not a banana republic where the rule of law can be easily trampled upon. Whistleblowers and activists play a vital role in strengthening democracy and ensuring accountability. Therefore, any attempt to breach their fundamental rights must be frontally resisted. Let it be known that GICN will immediately take appropriate steps to quash the illegal actions of the Police both in Nigerian and ECOWAS Courts.
The case of corruption fighting back is not new, but it is one that we must continually resist. The power of the people when united is greater than the people in power. As long as there are those willing to speak out against injustice, there will always be hope for a better Nigeria. We call on other sister Civil Society Organizations and Media Outfits to join us in this campaign for justice. Today, it is Barr. Edward Omaga being hunted down, tomorrow it could be any other citizen of Nigeria.

"God is a Thinker" ...As Mazi Gburugburu calls on Christians to think like God as his image.
Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, also known as Mazi Gburugburu, called on all Christians in Imo state to mimic God's thinking in order to drive development in the state.
He said this in a Synod lecture titled: "NZUBE CHUKWU —GOD IS A THINKER: DEVELOPMENT AS A GODLY MANDATE," delivered at the 10th Synod of the Egbu Diocese of the Anglican Communion, which took place on Saturday at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Ngor-Okpala LGA.
In an event that was attended by numerous sons and daughters of the state and was also covered live on TV and radio for everybody in Imo State, Dr. Amadi stressed the importance of Christians and the Church as a major force in driving lasting growth and development through adherence to God's directives.
Dr. Amadi alluded to the story of creation how God was able to intentionally and thoughtfully create what He wanted, and for the purpose He wanted them. This gave a responsibility for humans to follow in God's footsteps and leverage thought and action to create fair, just and prosperous societies.
"As beings created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), humanity is endowed with the capacity to think, plan, and create, reflecting God's own nature. This likeness places upon us the responsibility to develop the world in ways that mirror God's righteous thinking. Just as God created the world with purpose and structure, we are called to contribute to human development—morally, spiritually, and societally, with the same intentionality and vision."
Speaking on the spiritual nature of societal development, Dr. Amadi alluded to God's directive for humans to fill and subdue the earth as a commission for leaders to lead their communities and guide them towards actualizing God's intentions for them. Dr. Amadi acknowledged the role of religion in the lives of people in our society, and admonished citizens to leverage religion as a tool to build their society through bringing up good and godly leaders who will lead with an eye on God's direction, resisting bad policies aimed at stifling the rights and welfare of citizens, supporting good policies that will have good results, as well as educating church members on their civic responsibilities.
"The Church has a role in helping the State fulfil God’s expectations, by reminding it of those expectations, and holding it accountable to its task."
"The church in Nigeria should not stand aloof from politics but rather, see politics as a divine responsibility of engaging governing authorities on socio-economic and political issues that affects humanity. It holds firmly that any indifference toward politics by the church is a deficiency in the knowledge of the Christian calling. When the church assumes this role deliberately and seriously, it will create a better political, economic and social environment for Nigeria in the short and long run respectively."
In his conclusion, Dr. Amadi implored Christians in Imo State to be aware of the challenges faced by the society, and to work towards utilizing God's will for humanity as a guideline to bring back sanity, equity and prosperity to Imo State.
"Human beings, made in the image of God, are endowed with the capacity to think, create, and develop. Just as God thoughtfully crafted the world, He calls humanity to engage in the ongoing work of development—morally, spiritually, and socially. This is not a passive role but an active one, reflecting the divine nature of intentionality in our pursuits."
Saraki to Abdulrahman: Kwarans Can’t Be Cowed By This Wave of Demolition Exercise
Ordinarily, some people would expect that I would be indifferent to the weekend demolition of the Crystal Place, a shopping mall on Sulu Gambari Road in Ilorin, ordered by the government of Kwara State, because of the political relationship between me and the owner, Hon. Moshood Mustapha, who after serving as my commissioner, Special Adviser, and House of Representatives member under the platform of our party defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has worked against our structure since 2018.
However, it is not my style to take positions on issues from the narrow, parochial perspective. It is my view that one should always look at the big picture, a broad perspective of any issue in reacting to it. It is violence against the people of Kwara State and the economy of the state. My decision to speak out against this action that reflects the pettiness of the governor and his government, which is anti-people, and against the economic development of the state is irrespective of who is involved.
The State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is using this demolition exercise to intimidate, suppress, and silence all Kwarans. It is his reaction to the growing unpopularity of everything that he represents within the state. Why is Abdulrazaq just realising the fault or whatever he interprets to be wrong with the building of the Crystal Mall structure after 64 months that he has been in office?
The Kwara State Governor is ordering this demolition as his response in the aftermath of the recently conducted local government polls where people in all the constituencies massively voted and rose against his party and its candidates, even when he malevolently, fraudulently, and maliciously got contrary results to be declared by his hand-picked electoral officials. This is the beginning of a war against Kwara State for rejecting a governor who has failed to deliver good governance on all fronts. We should recall that he has ordered the arrest of some opposition politicians on frame-up charges.
In my view, Abdulrazaq believes unveiling a regime of violence and destruction against the people, particularly, the elite and their property will impose a culture of silence on the state. Now, the news circulating across Ilorin is that the next target of Abdulrazaq’s demolition squad is the place where the remains of my late father, Oloye (Dr.) Abubakar Olusola Saraki, of blessed memory, is interred. Even, this evil plan will not stop me from saying what is right. Let me make it clear that he will only try, he must be joking if he thinks he can erase the legacies left by the great Oloye.
What this Governor should know is that Kwara State does not belong to him. The state has existed long before he became governor and will continue to exist after he has ceased to be governor. After all, he has just about 31 months before he becomes a former governor. Abdulrazaq is the seventh democratically elected governor. None of those before him embarked on the demolition of properties to fight political opponents or score cheap political points. If I or the five other elected governors before him - late Alh. Adamu Attah, Chief C. O. Adebayo, Alh. Shaba Lafiagi, late Alh. Mohammed Lawal, and Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed - had been demolishing the structures belonging to people for personal vendetta, nothing would have remained of Kwara State before he assumed office in 2019.
Abdulrazaq should know we will not allow him to destroy the peace, tranquility, and fear of God that Ilorin, in particular, and Kwara State in general, stand for. His eight years as governor cannot reshape the history of our Emirate and the State that has been in existence for over 50 years.
With this demolition of Crystal Mall, over one hundred youths who work there have lost their jobs and source of livelihood. Also, the 21 shop owners in that complex have lost their investment. What a loss to the state economy! At a time when people are facing hardship and there are no jobs, the focus of government should not be to destroy investment. The emphasis should be on how to grow the economy, help the private sector increase its investment in the state, generate employment, and make life better for ordinary people. These are key aspects of the basic functions of a government that has a purpose.
I urge all leaders of thought in Ilorin, members of the Ulammahs, elders, and other key stakeholders not to keep quiet. What the present government in Kwara State is doing is waging war against the people. It is bent on impoverishing the people. We should not be afraid to speak truth to power. This action of Abdulrazaq should not intimidate any of us. We should speak out because the motive is faulty and the aim is evil.
Let me also use this opportunity to call on all Kwarans to remain fearless, undaunted, and undeterred in standing against a government that has failed to fulfill its responsibilities to them. They should not allow this governor to destroy the peace that Kwara State is known for in the comity of Nigerian states.
Signed
Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON Former Senate President and Waziri of Ilorin
Governor Sim Fubara has shown that he is in charge in Rivers State. The former Governor, Nyesom Wike, should face his job in the FCT, and the case closed.
The PDP must lead the opposition to form the much-desired alliance(s) with other political parties to dislodge the destructive ruling party. The option of Peter Obi/Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket guided by the leadership of the former Vice President, Wazirin Adamawa VII, Dr Atiku Abubakar, GCON (leader of the opposition), must work with the Acting National Chairman of the Party, Amb. Umar Damagum, and his team (NWC) to reclaim Nigeria.
We urge the leadership of the PDP to unite its members, as well as discipline irate and toxic characters that are bent on derailing the Party's common interests.
On behalf of the Indigenous People of Nigeria (IPN), I congratulate Sir Siminalayi Fubara and the great people of Rivers State, for setting a new agenda for Nigerians to follow.
I am deeply saddened to hear about the devastating floods that have affected thousands of residents in Maiduguri. My heart goes out to all those who have lost their homes, loved ones, or livelihoods. I pray for the safety and well-being of everyone affected by this disaster.

Royal Roots, Humble Heart Born into royalty as the only daughter of Prince Otunba Adekunle Ojora and Erelu Ojuolape, the Erelu Oodua of Ife, Mrs. Saraki is a princess of the Ijora Kingdom in Lagos and holds the title of Erelu Bobajiro of Iruland. Her royal lineage, however, isn’t what defines her. It is her commitment to service and her humble approach to life that have shaped the woman she is today.
A Tragedy Turned Into Purpose Many know Mrs. Saraki for her tireless work in healthcare advocacy, but few are aware of the deeply personal tragedy that ignited her passion. In 1991, during a pregnancy with twins, she suffered from eclampsia, a life-threatening condition that claimed the life of one of her baby girls. The other survived, but only through experimental treatment in England. This heartbreaking loss profoundly changed her. In that moment of pain, Mrs. Saraki made a vow—no mother should ever face such a crisis without proper medical care. From this promise emerged her lifelong mission to improve maternal and child healthcare across Africa.
Her foundation, the Wellbeing Foundation Africa, has been instrumental in improving healthcare for women, newborns, and children, particularly in underserved communities. Through her advocacy, Mrs. Saraki has improved countless lives and garnered recognition for her efforts. She served as the Global Goodwill Ambassador for the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) and now holds the Emeritus title. She is also Special Adviser to the IAG of the WHO’s Regional Office for Africa and was also appointed the inaugural WHO Foundation Global Health Ambassador. In addition to these roles, she has been named a Global Champion for Universal Health Coverage (UHC), Save the Children’s Newborn Health Champion for Nigeria, and a champion for numerous other causes, reflecting her far-reaching impact on global health.
A Woman of Many Gifts While her public roles speak volumes, Mrs. Saraki’s talents extend well beyond the obvious. An accomplished lawyer with a Masters Degree in Law she’s known for her razor-sharp intellect and near-photographic memory. It is often said that even the sharpest minds would struggle to match her, as she recalls the smallest details from years past with uncanny precision.
The Compassionate Leader Though she holds a high-profile status, it’s Mrs. Saraki’s warmth and humanity that leave the greatest impression on those who meet her. Her ability to connect with people, to truly listen, has endeared her to so many across Nigeria and beyond. It is this compassion that drives her work, whether advocating for healthcare reforms or simply offering a shoulder to lean on. For Mrs. Saraki, leadership is not about prestige—it’s about people, and her dedication to uplifting others is inspiring.
A Tech-Savvy Grandma Don’t let her regal poise fool you—Mrs. Saraki is a tech-savvy grandmother who embraces social media with ease, using platforms like Instagram and Twitter to engage with a global audience and amplify the causes she cares about. Through her digital presence, she’s able to reach and inspire a younger generation, proving that her influence extends far beyond traditional platforms. In her, we see a woman who effortlessly bridges the gap between timeless values and modern innovation.
As Her Excellency celebrates her 60th birthday, she remains a symbol of grace and purpose. But beyond the titles and achievements, she’s a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and advocate whose work has touched countless lives. Her journey from personal loss to championing maternal and child healthcare reveals a woman of extraordinary courage and dedication.
Yet, at 60, Mrs. Saraki is far from finished. With her passion still burning brightly, whether advocating for healthcare reform, mentoring young leaders, or breaking new ground in her philanthropic work. Her influence reaches beyond what she has already accomplished—it’s about the future she’s still shaping.
As she continues her work, one can’t help but wonder what remarkable chapter she’ll write next. Whatever it is, it’s certain to leave a lasting impact for generations to come.
Imo State Set Ablaze with Ambition and Determination as Thousands Rally Behind a Vision for Transformative Growth
Saturday was an auspicious day in Ngor-Okpala, and indeed the whole of Imo State, as Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, Mazi Gburugburu, officially Ngor Okpala chapter of The Mazi Organization (TMO), an initiative intended to uplift and empower the most vulnerable in the state.
Taking place at his hometown of Umuehieze Umuekwunne, Ngor-Okpala LGA of Imo State, the event attracted over fifteen thousand people from across the LGA and even beyond including senators, ministers, traditional rulers of Ngor-Okpala and other dignitaries, with seas of people sporting the signature red t-shirt of The Mazi Organization dotting roads from Owerri to Ngor-Okpala.
The event proper did not fail to live up to its billing, as different cultural troupes put on colourful cultural song and dance displays showcasing the heritage of Ngor-Okpala.
After the breaking of kola, the coordinators of The Mazi Organization in Ngor Okpala were inaugurated, with mandates given to them to manage the outreach and other initiatives of the Organization across different wards of the Local government.
Speaking to the gathered crowd, Dr. Amadi thanked everyone present for coming to witness history, and credited the legacy of his late father, Mr. Jude Oguchialu Amadi for imbuing in him the urge to help people always.
He reaffirmed the goals of The Mazi Organization as not just an organization, but a movement to galvanize the minds of Imo people towards wanting and working towards a better future for their communities.
"This day also marks a significant milestone in our collective journey toward creating a more equitable and sustainable future for our local communities. It is not just the launch of an organization; it is the birth of a movement. A movement that embodies hope, empowerment, and collective action. A movement that seeks to uplift our local communities, support those in need, and create sustainable change from the ground up."
Dr. Amadi affirmed that The Mazi Organization was to be a special medium with which to drive private contributions to the public growth and development of Imo State, with the end goal of ensuring a prosperous and equitable society for Imo people.
Continuing his speech, Dr. Amadi charged everyone present to join him in this quest to usher in a new era for Imo people, and to take advantage of this new dawn to build a better society for future generations; a commitment aptly captured in the "Oge Erula" slogan of the Organization, which means "time has come."
"The idea I represent is an idea whose time has come. OGE ERULA. As we stand here, we must realize that we are on the cusp of a new era where we must bring this idea to reality as it is dictated by our historical necessity, our sense of urgency, and a conviction that having found our mission, posterity will judge us harshly if we betray it."
Mazi Gburugburu was then presented with the Distinguished Transformation and Empowerment Ambassador Award by members of the African Free Press, in recognition of his invaluable service to the development of Ngor-Okpala, Imo State and Nigeria. He was also presented with an Award of Honor by the National Association of Nigerian Students, who were also present to support their fellow comrade in the struggle.
As joyful shouts of "OGE ERULA" filled the air, the fervor and enthusiasm of the gathered crowd strongly demonstrated the extent of the impact Dr. Amadi had exerted on his hometown and Imo State in general andshowed the willingness of Imo people to key into his ideas for the development of the state.
A Mother’s Pride, A Son’s Return: Dr. Chima Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu) Concludes August Journey with Triumphant Ngor-Okpala Homecoming
As the echoes of celebration swept through the streets of Umuekwunne yesterday, one thing was clear—Gburugburu had returned. Dr. Chima Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu), revered by many as a beacon of hope, concluded his remarkable journey across Imo State with a homecoming that was nothing short of legendary. His arrival was not just a return; it was the reaffirmation of a bond between a leader and his people, a powerful reminder that true leadership is rooted in the hearts of those it serves. The August sun blazed down on a community that had waited, not in silence, but in fervent anticipation, for the moment when they would once again embrace their son, their father, their Mazi.
Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu) ended his month-long felicitations with Imo State women with a flourish, as he attended the August Meetings of Ntu Autonomous Community and that of his hometown, Umuekwunne Autonomous Community on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
During the August Meeting of the women of Ntu Autonomous Community, Dr. Amadi addressed the 8,000 women present, urging them to continue their vital contributions to community development and take an active role in Imo State politics to ensure their efforts are not undermined by poor leadership. He also encouraged the female youth to carry on the baton, preserving the beauty of their culture for future generations. In support of their projects, he donated ₦4 million and an additional ₦2 million as a souvenir for all the women present. Following the event, Dr. Amadi paid a courtesy visit to the Eze Oha Ntu III, the traditional leader of Ntu.
On Wednesday, Mazi Gburugburu received a reception fit for a king as he returned to celebrate the August Meeting with the women of Umuekwunne Autonomous Community, his hometown. The pride of Umuekwunne was palpable as his entourage moved through streets lined with cheering residents. The community had undergone a rigorous cleanup in preparation, and the air was filled with the booming of cannons and the melodies of local bands, all celebrating the return of their beloved son.
Despite the grand welcome, Mazi Gburugburu remained true to his humble roots. He first visited the palace of His Royal Highness Eze George Nwosu to pay homage. The Eze warmly received him and then accompanied him to the event at Comprehensive Secondary School Umuekwunne.
At the venue, a breathtaking sight awaited—a crowd of over twelve thousand Umuekwunne women gathered to celebrate the August Meeting and welcome their son. Jubilation erupted across the arena, and it took the concerted efforts of the MC, women leaders and Mazi to restore order.
After the breaking of kola, an elaborate welcome dance, and a march-past parade, Mazi Gburugburu addressed his people. He expressed deep gratitude to everyone present, especially the women and the Eze, for uniting the community. Dr. Amadi spoke about the origins of the August Meeting before the war and how women rose above destruction to drive the development of Igbo land, leading to the establishment of schools, hospitals, and other crucial infrastructure through public-private partnerships.
He lamented that past governments have neglected the development of local communities in favor of personal gains, viewing the people merely as votes. Dr. Amadi reaffirmed his commitment to a new style of leadership—one that champions development through collaboration with the people. Concluding his speech, Dr. Amadi donated ₦7 million to support the women’s impressive development initiatives and an additional ₦3 million to be shared among all women present as an August Meeting gift.
The visit to Umuekwunne marked the grand finale of Dr. Chima Amadi’s statewide show of solidarity with the women of Imo State. Over the course of August, he visited and celebrated with women in more than fifteen communities, contributing over ₦80 million to support and uplift their efforts.
In a month filled with joy and unity, Dr. Chima Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu) did more than just bring smiles to the faces of Imo women—he reignited a movement. His actions spoke louder than words, proving that his commitment to the empowerment of women and the development of society is not just a promise but a powerful reality. As the dust settles on this historic journey, the legacy of Mazi Gburugburu’s August odyssey will undoubtedly echo in the hearts of many for years to come.

Tinubu's Leadership in Shambles: Damagum Slams President's Lack of Vision and Anti-People Policies
The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ambassador Iliya Umar Damagum, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of governing without a clear plan and implementing policies that harm Nigerians.
In a recent interview on Nigeria Right Now on AIT, Damagum told Dickson Iroegbu that Tinubu's leadership has been catastrophic, citing specific examples of how his actions have negatively impacted the country. He also warned that over 75% of Nigerians are struggling to survive due to Tinubu's misguided policies.
Furthermore, Damagum accused Tinubu of being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians, stating that the President's actions demonstrate a clear disconnect from the everyday struggles of the people. "Tinubu's policies are not only anti-people, but he also seems to be detached from the reality of Nigerians' suffering," Damagum said. This criticism has resonated with many Nigerians who feel that the President's policies have exacerbated the country's economic and social challenges.

Bandits attack: Senator Natasha visits CUSTECH, condoles with management
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central senatorial district, on Friday, visited the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, to express her condolences to the school management and offer her support following the recent attack by kidnappers.
The lawmaker, who was not in the country when the incident happened, stated that it's unfortunate that her first visit to the university has to be in response to such an ugly situation.
"What has befallen CUSTECH a few weeks ago is a scenario that has become all too familiar in many institutions in Nigeria, and it's quite worrisome. No child should ever fear for their safety in a place of learning; educational institutions should be the safest of all places," she said.
The Senator expressed her willingness to support the university in any way possible to tackle the insecurity and complement what has already been put in place. She requested the University Vice Chancellor to write to her regarding any area where she can offer support to the school.
“The great value I place on education translates in my 2024 constituency projects which predominantly focuses on improving the quality to strengthe our educational institutions. We have already included Federal College of Education, Okene, Abdul Aziz Atta Memorial College, Okene, and Government Technical College, Oboroke in our specialised pilot projects, and we can replicate the same thing at CUSTECH” she added.
"I hope we can all come together, regardless of political affiliation, and work for the good of Kogi State and Nigeria. My doors are open to everyone, regardless of political differences. I sympathize with you, and I hope no student will ever have to suffer this again," she said.
Reacting, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdulrahman Salawu, expressed his appreciation for Senator Natasha's visit to commiserate with the institution.
He noted that the time for politics has passed, and it's now time for governance and collaboration.
"Despite the efforts of the government to mobilise security officials to rescue the abducted students, two of them have been killed by their abductors solely because they chose to pursue an education. I appeal to you, Senator, to raise your voice and urge the Federal government to rise to the occasion and tackle the current insecurity," he said.

"These appointments demonstrate the NYA's commitment to revitalize its leadership and expanding its reach to better serve the good people of Nigeria,' it added.
It is very laughable to see someone in their right senses try to compare the tenures of Governor Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as Nigeria Governors' Forum Chairmen. While I do try not to make comparisons between the duo, because I believe "ti a ba fi omo we omo, a lu ikan paa ni," I however feel it is necessary I make comparisons here.
While the former's administration was marked by groundbreaking reforms and unprecedented accomplishments that were largely felt by Kwarans and other Nigerians, the latter, who is the current occupant of that office, lacks the intellectual capacity to even champion a cause or reform as the Chairman of the Forum. Rather, he has reduced the office to mere ceremonies and courtesy visits. We are not surprised that Governor Bago of Niger has been pitched to replace Governor Abdulrahman by other members of the Forum who believe he will perform better than the incumbent.
The deputy chairmen of the NGF who are from each of the 6 geo-political zones of the country, have expressed their lack of confidence in the leadership of Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and fear for the crumbling of the Forum if things are left to him.
It is disheartening to see what our Governor has reduced us to in Kwara. We now rejoice only at receiving favours without any attempt to become better in our self-sustenance. We now claim mere paperwork as achievements. Why don't you wait until the roads are completed before you begin to count your eggs, Mr. Egghead? How do you explain the shamelessness of the Governor's aide trying to distort facts in a write-up, claiming that the same road that had long been approved by former President Muhammadu Buhari was facilitated by Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as Chairman of the Governors' Forum? This is a blatant lie. We know it is difficult to defend the inadequacies in Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's leadership, but you shouldn't resort to lying. Also, one doesn't need to be the Chairman of the Governor's Forum before you can facilitate that. Kwara State is not the only state enjoying the infrastructure tax credits scheme of the federal government. It is also a known fact that the longest road by km in Kwara State was facilitated under Governor Bukola Saraki.
Having a Governor on the side of the people is the greatest blessing citizens can have. Governor Bukola Saraki's tenure was characterized by deep affection for the people, and through his leadership as the Forum Chairman, he instituted policies that made governance easier for the people and created a system where every Governor could compete to do better. One such initiative was the State Peer Review Mechanism, aimed at fostering development, enhancing governance, and sharing best practices among the states. This initiative led the NGF to transition from a largely political entity into a more policy-focused, people-centric organization. We all knew his efforts in championing the eradication of polio in Nigeria. I challenge the Governor to mention one people-focused policy he has embarked on.
Today, the federal government can embark on a project for the upgrade of the Harmony Advanced Diagnostic Centre because Bukola Saraki conceived and birthed that initiative. The federal government saw what Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq wasn't seeing after he neglected the facility for many years before certain people began to work behind closed doors to ensure the federal government consolidated on the HADC facility. We know how this Governor has starved the workers there of their payments, and yet you still want to rig the glory to Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's leadership has only exemplified bad governance, lawlessness, and no regard for the rule of law in the state. The Governor leads the pack of those who have not conducted local government elections in the state despite the federal government's cry for the fiscal autonomy of all local governments councils. Who should lead by example? Instead of people-focused policies, he is hell-bent on seeing people in poverty by taking away their means of livelihood without any measures to cushion these effects, especially during the most difficult times experienced by common people.
Who instituted the doctrine of necessity for power to be transferred to the vice president in the absence of the then president Shehu Musa Yaradua? This is a man with a record of delivering real solutions to issues. The Ilorin Smartcity project is the brainchild of the Federal Government, and we know how that project is still far from being a reality yet. How many real-time issues or initiatives has Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq proffered solutions to as the Chairman of the Governors' Forum? We are tired of hearing the same two or three proposed FG projects.
The Presidency understands the sneaky nature of Abdulrazaq, which is why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rejected the Governor's purported list of favourites that included his siblings as ministerial nominees. Instead, he chose those whom he could trust without the input of the State Governor, as well as other key appointments such as that of Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu and many others. The Governor and his siblings' cronyism is evident in the composition of the State Cabinet and Advisers to the government. They said the Governor knows about the list he has no influence over. Is Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq now a state house journalist?
Let me digress here to ask the Governor to mention one appointee of his that has done so much for the people with their office like Prof. Oba Abdulraheem whom you have claimed was not allowed to succeed in their office. Was it not the same Governor Bukola Saraki during his time as NGF Chairman who returned Prof. Oba Abdulraheem as the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission after he had resigned? Is that not the same Prof. that was robbed by Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to the 2019 APC guber primaries? We will not forget Abdulrahman's atrocities to the people of Kwara State. We know how he went against Kale Kawu of Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in Abuja, how he stood against the reappointment of Prof. Abubakar Suleiman. Why was Lukman Mustapha relieved of his position? Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq will one day answer to all he has perpetrated by bringing down other illustrious sons of Kwara State because he is the NGF Chairman today.
Bukola Saraki ran so that other Chairmen and Governors could walk. He brought positive and radical changes by restructuring and resourcing the Forum to enable it to respond to both the contemporary and future needs of Governors and their constituents under his leadership as Chairman. He strengthened the policy development capacity of the Forum with support from the UK’s Department for International Development. This, along with a range of other international partnerships – such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation – allowed the Forum to reach new international audiences to the benefit of Governors and individual states. Kwarans are proud of their son.
The question is, without lying, what has Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq done with his office as Chairman other than jamboree visits to Aso Rock and acting as an airport ushering coordinator for the president?
