SportsBarcelona Should Not Allow Messi Leave Without Paying €700m - Ex Pres Laporta by ibibiofirstlady(op): 9:52am On Aug 27, 2020
Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta insists Lionel Messi cannot leave the club as a free agent this summer.

Messi was reported to have submitted a transfer request on Tuesday following an underwhelming 2019/20 campaign.

The 33-year-old’s deal stipulated that he could leave on a free transfer this summer, but Barcelona insist that clause expired in June, 10 days after the Champions League final was initially due to take place.

However, Messi’s camp claim that the clause should have been extended in line with the prolonged season due to the coronavirus lockdown, with the Champions League final eventually not being played until August 23.

Laporta has insisted that Messi does not have a legal right to claim that, though, and urged the club to hold out for his full €700m (£630m) release clause to be paid if he is to leave this summer.
“[Messi] cannot leave. He will have to leave in 2021. I have seen the contract and it is very clear. The clause ended in June and there is no going back. I prefer him to leave next year for zero than to go now for less than €700m,” Gaspart told Radio MARCA.

“The club is in charge here, not the player. The club paid the players. And this is not a matter of money, there is a signed contract and that’s it. I love Messi very much, but I love Barcelona more. Let the clause be paid.

“They did it to me one night treacherously with [Luis] Figo and I did the same with Rivaldo, because I loved Barcelona. And here it’s the same. There is a clause of €700m and the contracts are signed to fulfil them. I understand there is pressure from others for him to leave, but if I were the president of Barcelona then I wouldn’t negotiate a euro.

“If Messi leaves for less than what his clause is worth it will be more humiliating than the 8-2 [defeat]. And Messi should not forget that the fans love Barcelona more than the player. And if Messi leaves next year, well, bad luck, he goes aged 34.

“I don’t understand why he is leaving Barcelona. Well, I do understand because I know these plays by football players well. We all want him to stay at Barcelona. Doesn’t he want to stay? What’s going on? Are the millions of club members who ask him to stay not worth it?

“Does he think that Barcelona have not helped him to be what he is? Messi is loved a lot and I hope he will enjoy one more year [at Barcelona]. I’d rather him go for free next year than this one for €699m. They shouldn’t lower [his price] one euro.”

Messi joined Barcelona’s La Masia academy 19 years ago and has gone on to break a plethora of records at the club, including scoring an unrivalled 634 goals.

PoliticsOshiomhole’s Last Ditch Effort To Truncate The Will Of Edo, By John Evah by ibibiofirstlady(op): 11:54am On Aug 07, 2020
Oshiomhole’s Last Ditch Effort To Truncate The Will Of Edo People Meets Resistance By John Evah

Everything seems over for Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu in Edo State as their last desperate attempt to truncate the will of Edo People meets with vehement resistance.

Statistics from the opinion poll sponsored by an acclaimed ‘godfather’ of Lagos politics and a certain Benin billionaire, has shown that the APC cannot get beyond 23% of total vote cast in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State, due to the putrid and ragged political reputation of the APC candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, amongst the Edo populace, which no amount of image laundering and reputation managers can launder.

Even more worrisome to the Ize-Iyamu camp are the concluding results of their campaign call centre which pegs their number of positive responses at 21%, that is if the figure was not inflated by them; as they have been known in the not too distant past to rig a primary election that had no opponents. These preelection results have sent electrifying shiver and panick down the spines of the Oshiomhole-ze-Iyamu camp.

With the reality of an impending and inevitable defeat staring them in the face, and with the ghosts of their atrocities haunting their inactive conscience, they decided to hatch this last failed plan to illegally inaugurate another House of Assembly, with an imported Mace from Imo State, in a desperate attempt to impeach the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly alongside the Governor, with the backing of the alleged or so-called Abuja police, and thus install Victor Edoro as New Speaker and acting Governor of Edo State.

This to the people of Edo State, was an outright insult on their sensibilities and an attempt to outrightly truncate democracy and legitimate governance with illegality, and Edo people, in a bid to resist the aspiring godfathers and take their knees off their necks, converged at the State House of Assembly; the Anthony Enahoro Complex, at Kingsquare, Benin, to defend the integrity of their nascent democracy and the revolutionary governance which is currently taking over the Nigerian political terrain with Godwin Obaseki as the propelling force.

It did not matter to these political actors if the House of Assembly Complex was currently under renovation, they were willing to sit anyway and install an illegal speaker and Governor, in a country governed by a constitution. It is time President Muhammadu Buhari called these political comedians led by the Oshiomhole-Ize-Iyamu union to order.

Edo people more than ever are now ready to defend the freedom and rights which Democracy and the Nigerian constitution offer, as they are willing and capable of resisting any attempt to enthrone impunity and civil unrest, and uphold the sacrosanctity of the Nigerian Constitution

SportsBREAKING: Real Madrid Legend, Iker Casillas Retires From Football by ibibiofirstlady(op): 2:16pm On Aug 04, 2020
Iker Casillas has been a part of Porto's coaching staff during his recovery from a heart attack

Former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas has retired from football at the age of 39.

Casillas made 725 appearances for Real during a 16-year career at the Bernabeu, winning three Champions League titles and five La Liga crowns.

He also helped Spain win the 2010 World Cup and two successive European Championships in 2008 and 2012.

Casillas joined Porto in 2015 but has not played since suffering a heart attack during training in April 2019.

During his recovery he was given a role on the club's coaching staff in July 2019.

Announcing his retirement on Twitter, Casillas said: "The important thing is the path you travel and the people who accompany you, not the destination to which it takes you.

"I think I can say, without hesitation, that it has been the path and the dream destination."

Real Madrid said Casillas, who joined the Spanish giants at the age of nine, was the best goalkeeper in the 118-year history of the club.

"Real Madrid wants to show its appreciation, admiration and love for one of the greatest legends of our club and world football," read a statement on the club's website.

"Iker Casillas belongs to the heart of Real Madrid and will be so forever."

PoliticsI Never Said PDP Won Ondo In 2016 - Ex SSG by ibibiofirstlady(op): 7:21am On Jul 08, 2020
A former secretary to government of Ondo state, Mr Ifedayo Abegunde, has described a statement credited to him that the last governorship election in Ondo state was won by Mr Eyitayo Jegede of Peoples Democratic Party, but rigged in favor of Mr Rotimi Akeredolu of All Progressive Congress.

He made the denial through a press statement as seen below;

PRESS STATEMENT

The attention of the immediate past secretary to the Ondo state government, Hon Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde has been drawn to a story circulating on the social media, which was purportedly published by one NigerianConcord.com.ng where it was stated that Hon Ifedayo Abegunde stated that the Peoples Democratic party PDP won the 2016 governorship election in Ondo state. He was reported to have said this in an interview granted to crest FM in Akure.

This is a despirate attempt by mischievous elements to rewrite facts.

It is a known fact, that the one and only time the Peoples Democratic party PDP won a governorship election in the state was in 2003.

Although he granted an interview to Crest FM this morning,he did not declear the Peoples Democratic party, PDP the winner of the October 2016 election in Ondo state.

The 2016 election was won by the All Progressive Congress emphatically and beyond any reasonable doubt.

While this unprofessional report could have been ignored, it is also necessary to correct this error so as not to give those who have become consistent losers a false sense of fulfilment.

PoliticsFCCPC: Nigeria Needs More Of Bababtunde Irukera - Abdulraman Ibrahim by ibibiofirstlady(op):
When all sectors of the Nigerian Economy, National Commissions and Agencies are practically lagging or better put, failing, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC under the watch and leadership of Barrister Babatunde Irukera has continued to thrive in achieving daily milestones. This makes many wonder the manner of intellectual competence dissipated by Irukera that distinguished him and distinguished the agency he oversees.

Babatunde Irukera as the Chief Executive of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC (formerly Consumer Protection Council), began to chair the operationalisation of the Commission when the government enacted Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act in January 30, 2019. He oversees the daily management and leadership of the Commission in fulfilling its responsibilities of market promotion, competition, protection of consumers and securing remedies when consumer rights are violated.

As aptly put by the commission, ‘his record of advocacy and representation in competition and consumers’ issues is exceptional and provides the clarity that both the Commission and industry need in addressing issues of customer service/protection, promoting a level playing field in the Nigerian marketplace, and ensuring regulatory stability. He has been in active legal practice for almost three decades. His varied experience ranges from being In-house Counsel to General Counsel, Managing Partner in a law firm, and advising senior government officials as well as key government institutions. Over this diverse career, Babatunde gained considerable experience in transactions, civil rights and commercial litigation, regulatory work, government relations and practice management.’

When Pharmacist Dora Akunyili died, we lost hope of having someone that could fill the vacuum created in Nigeria. Only then Barrister Babatunde Irukera surfaced and was appointed Director General of the Consumer Protection Council. The Council of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL) hailed the appointment of one of its members as the new Director General (DG) of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) looking through the pedigrees and impeccable track records of Irukera.

It is a development we thought was a mere demonstration of comradeship with the esprit de corps, because the CPC itself was a mere shadow of itself, a mere appendix of ministry of commerce. CPC as it was called wasn’t known to be effective. It lacked necessary venom to invoke fears in the minds of those intimidating and directly taking advantages of the fact that most Nigerian consumers don’t even know their rights because of lack of necessary awareness.

Irukera, who is also the Chair of the Consumer Protection and Competition Law Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), replaced Dupe Atoki at the Council and assumed office in April. He instilled new spirit into the organization so many of us considered to be in comatose.

Babatunde Irukera faces oozes but with humility, modesty, patriotism and a deep concern for the present and future of this beautiful country. In a brief interaction with Babatunde Irukera as a man of wealthy experiences, he admitted that sovereignty belongs to the people, hence for the CPC to be more effective, it needs necessary ingredients which include remodeling and more power from the people through their representatives. That led to his aggressive push for remodeling which led to the introduction of a codified set of competition rules into Nigeria’s regulatory oversight framework which came as a long anticipated change, to ensure that market distortions across all sectors are minimized and rules of fair play are respected in the market place.

Nigeria is one country that is dominated with substandard goods and or services. Unfortunately, it’s something which every customer will have to go through at some point in time. Now, while the law in Nigeria might not be able to prevent it from happening, it can however provide recourse for you and a way to air your grievance and potentially get compensated whenever this occurs.

Unlike the defunct CPC, the FCCPC’s oversight extends beyond just consumer protection issues, and covers all entities in Nigeria – whether they are engaged in commercial activities as corporate bodies, or as government agencies and bodies. This Act is poised to introduce ground breaking changes into the Nigerian regulatory regime.

Therefore, specific body like FCCPC as an agency of the Government under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment is set up to help consumers deal with issues where companies have either provided poor service or they have sold substandard goods to the consumer.

Today, I can boldly beat my chest to declare that FCCPC under Babatunde Irukera is one of the visible and vibrant government agencies that boldly communicates the exact languages the sellers and consumer understand. It’s the only agency currently living up-to it’s expectations.

Peeping into some of the remarkable astute moves of Babatunde Irukera in repositioning FCCPC, one would see uncommon display of wisdom and application of inter discipline knowledge.

In addition to recommending, initiating and enforcing several professional policies and regulations, it is noted that Krispy Kreme, a company which was suspended after it was discovered that it was using expired raw materials to produce its doughnuts. The regulator says that the operator changed the “use by” date on the raw material to “best before” date, without NAFDAC safety approval.

That was not the first time the CPC under Babatunde Irukera would come to the rescue of consumers. Sometime in 2019, it was reported that Rice depot stores and Warehouses were shut down for selling substandard bags of rice in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. While the stores and the warehouses were closed, the perpetuators were brought to book for selling harmful products to unsuspecting consumers and putting the lives of customers at harmful health risks. Similarly, the agency was also reported to have carried out an unscheduled spot inspection at the production facilities of Caraway Africa Limited (makers of FreshYo Yoghurt) and FrieslandCampina (makers of Peak Milk).

His recent contributions like POS charges reduction and other consumer right protection interventions are too numerous to mention. His consistent intervention on substandard drugs dealing and violation of consumer rights like the one that took place in Lagos recently are remarkable,

Currently FCCPC Under Babatunde Irukera, CEO, FCCPC, prosecuting of H-Medix, Faxx Stores, Ebeano Supermarket & Bakan Gizo Pharmacy over alleged price gouging such a big and giant supermarkets/pharmacies at FHC, Abuja, over alleged price gouging, with the Irukera himself leading the legal team, to show the seriousness of the case

Just this month he also received EXCO members of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, Abuja, on a courtesy visit, this solidarity visits aiming at enjoying synergy between a powerful union body in our health sector and FCCPC.

Seeking synergy between NAICOM & FCCPC Inter- Regulatory leadership to advance complaints by insurance policy holders, new coverage products for fleet operators & seamless merger review for insurance sector consolidation of carriers, this is not just unique but capable of addressing some notable challenges in that sector.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection (FCCPC) has promised to Partner Standard Organization Of Nigeria(SON), National Agency For Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), against price gouging, this marriage is worthy of celebration, closing the gap between the various agencies and parastatals of government aiming the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection (FCCPC) Partnership with Standard Organization Of Nigeria(SON) and National Agency For Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), against price gouging. at promoting the consumers interest, indeed, is applaudable and must be encourage by various stake holders.

A German news magazine, Spiegel, wrote this about Irukera “there are days when Babatunde Irukera feels like nothing can go wrong — not with the evidence that he has gathered, the letters, reports, protocols and all the witnesses. On days like this he believes that, after 11 long years, justice can finally be served for the children of Kano, for his homeland Nigeria, and for Africa.” No doubt, if Nigeria could replicate Irukera in most agencies and political offices, we would mature into a developed nation very quickly. It’s a thing of joy for such a man to have hailed from Kogi State. It holds that there is hope for the people of Kogi and Nigeria at large with such an uncommon man living with us.

Kogi Guber: PDP Cautions Banks On Loans to Gov. Bello...Warns APC Leaders to Steer Clear of Kogi Funds

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alerts commercial banks in Nigeria to be circumspect in giving loans or any form of credit to the wasteful administration of out-going Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, as the state is not wiling to bear any responsibility for such facilities when Governor Yahaya Bello vacates office in a few months time.

The party draws the attention of commercial banks to the fact that Yahaya Bello cannot scale the hurdles of the November 16 governorship election following the consensus by the people to vote in the PDP candidate, Engr. Musa Wada, as their next governor.

The PDP cautions financial institutions to note that Governor Bello and his administration now have a Caveat Emptor badge and that the people of Kogi are not ready to inherit their financial liabilities.

The party alerts that the caution is sequel to information to our disposal on alleged intentions of the Bello administration to mislead commercial banks into granting it huge loans, under certain hazy items and conditions, after which the money would be frittered by APC leaders and cronies of the administration.

Our party wants the nation to note that the people of Kogi state can no longer accept any further mortgaging of the future of the state by Yahaya Bello, whose administration has gone down as the most profligate in the history of our nation and which cannot account for over N700 billion of Kogi fund released to it in the last four years.

Anybody or organization in league with Yahaya Bello is directly supporting the torturing and impoverishing of the people of Kogi state by the Bello administration, which has manifested so much insensitivity in owing workers as much as 36 months salary arrears.

On our part, the PDP is committed to running a prudent, transparent and productive administration where the welfare and economic empowerment of the people is overriding; where salaries are paid promptly, where infrastructural development in critical sectors take center stage and where accountability is the watchword.

In this regard, the PDP urges all financial watch organizations to join the people of Kogi state in monitoring all monetary activities of the Bello administration as well as all inflows into the state coffers, particularly, the N10.06 billion federal refund, which the PDP insists, must be declared and directly channeled for the payment of salaries so as not to allow the ring of APC leaders achieve their plot of diverting and stealing the money for their selfish purposes.

Kogi: Onoja’s Inauguration a Nullity, Atrocious - PDP
…Urges CJN To Impose Sanctions

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dismisses the inauguration of a shadow deputy governor in Kogi state as a complete nullity, which has no place under our laws.

The party describes as scandalous to our judicial system, that the Chief Judge of Kogi state, Justice Nasir Ajana, whose panel acquitted the state deputy governor, Elder Simon Achuba, of any misconduct, suddenly flipped to conform with an odious plot by desperate Governor Yahaya Bello to forcefully remove the deputy governor.

The action of the Kogi Chief Judge has heavily jeopardized the integrity of the judiciary and capable of bringing the institution to public disrepute if not immediately checked.

Our party insists that the Chief Judge of Kogi state, in staging an illegal inauguration of Edward Onoja, as a deputy governor, while the office has not become constitutionally vacant, amounts to gross misconduct, which cannot be accommodated under our laws.

The PDP alerts that this is a clear demonstration of the reprehensible and sacrilegious design by Governor Yahaya Bello to entangle, drag down and corrupt the institution of the judiciary, cause a constitutional crisis, trigger mayhem and derail the smooth conduct of the November 16 governorship election in the state.

This is because there is no way there can be two deputy governors in the same state, more so as the people of Kogi state had already registered their anger and resentment against this illegality in the public space.

The party therefore calls on the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mohammed Tanko, to take immediate steps to save Kogi State from a plunge into anarchy and chaos.

Nigeria is a nation governed by law and nobody must be allowed to set aside our constitution and corrupt our democratic order for his or her selfish and repressive agenda.

PDP Condemns Attack On Wada, Killing by APC
[left][/left]…Says Assault Shows APC Fears Electoral Defeat

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns, in totality, the attack on its Kogi governorship candidate, Engr. Musa Wada and the killing of innocent Kogi citizen on Saturday by thugs alleged to be working for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party says the attack shows that the APC and Governor Yahaya Bello have become discomfited over Engr. Wada’s soaring popularity across Kogi state which signals an impending inevitable electoral defeat for the APC at the November election.

The PDP invites Nigerians to note how the APC attacked the venue of our governorship primary and having failed to stop us from producing a credible candidate, have now resorted to making attempts at the life of our candidate, knowing that he is already coasting to victory.

The PDP however cautions the APC to note that there is a limit to what the people of Kogi state, who have made up their minds to vote in Engr. Wada as their next governor, can stomach, particularly at this critical time.

If anything, this attack on our candidate has further united the people of Kogi state behind our party, in their readiness to take back their state, no matter the machination of the APC.

The APC is therefore cautioned to rein in their thugs as any further attack on our candidate or any member of the PDP for that matter, portends consequences of unimaginable proportion.

The APC knows that our party has the highest demography of members, supporters and volunteers in all the electoral units, wards and local governments across the state. Such an array should not in any way be undermined.

The PDP states that resorting to violence cannot help the APC in this election. This is so because Kogi state is home to PDP and the people have made up their minds to replace Governor Yahaya Bello with Engr. Wada on November 16, and nothing can change that resolve.

Our party therefore calls on the Inspector General of Police to guarantee adequate security ahead of the election and ensure that the APC does not in any way, achieve its aim of disrupting the electoral process, knowing that it will be defeated.

PDP Tasks NASS to Redirect 2020 Budget
…Challenges Buhari to Make Presidency Allocation Public

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) laments that the N10.7 trillion 2020 budget presented by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly will further impoverish Nigerians and mortgage the future of the nation.

The party urges the legislature to redirect the fiscal proposal to serve the interest of majority of Nigerians.

The party notes that the core of the budget remains hazy, showing streaks of padding, fraudulent duplications, replete with false performance indices, deceptive projections and inexplicable expenditure assertions which create openings for continued looting of our national patrimony by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and persons close to the Presidency.

The PDP insists that it is inexcusable that despite the huge natural resources at President Buhari’s reach, he articulated a N10.7 trillion budget that is completely lacking in concrete wealth creation strategy but relies on further squeezing of Nigerians through excruciating taxes, levies and agonizing tolls.

The party described as unacceptable that the budget is skewed to serve the interest of the opulent, as projects that have direct bearing on the wellbeing of the masses were not substantially accommodated in the overall expenditure profile.

The PDP says such cannot happen under the Atiku Abubakar economic recovery blueprint for which Nigerians voted massively the PDP in the 2019 Presidential election.

The party also criticized the Buhari administration for not being transparent in the mammoth allocations for alleged vague projects, particularly the ministries of works and housing as well as transportation, where allegations of diversion of public funds were endemic in the last budget.

Standing with millions of Nigerian youths and women, our party rejects the paltry budgets of N48 billion for education and N46 billion for health and urges the National Assembly to review the allocations in the interest of Nigerians.

Furthermore, the PDP notes, as unacceptable that President Buhari, in his budget speech, could not give account of his handling of the 2019 budget and had to resort to lame excuses and unsupported figures, particularly on the various unimplemented subheads in critical sectors of the economy

Moreover, Mr. President failed to explain why his administration has remained hugely corrupt and how his Presidency depleted our foreign reserves to an all time low $41,852 billion, accumulated huge foreign and domestic debts and kept the naira at its knees at about N360 to $1USD under his watch.

The party also challenged the Presidency to make public the details of the Presidency allocation for Nigerians to see the billion being spent to finance the opulent lifestyle of the Buhari Presidency, despite Mr. President's claims of prudence and sacrifice.

Presidential Election Appeal: How the Appeal Court Stood the Law on its head, contradicted itself.

PDP and Atiku/Obi’s Grounds of Appeal N0 7

Looking closely at the September 11, 2019 rulings of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, there is need to clarify the huge disparity in the judgements.

The Appeal Court on one hand rejected the video evidence of Brigadier General Olajide, provided by the PDP and Atiku/Obi in court, saying that the petitioners should have invited the army secretary to come and testify in court.

On the other hand, the same court cited the statement of the Army Secretary (the very evidence the court rejected) in which he was quoted as follows… ”The Army has in its possession Nigerian Army Form 199A, where the General indicated after commissioning that he obtained credits in four subjects and a pass in another. However, it is not in possession of a certificate to prove same,".

The court magnanimously used the above statement of the same Army Secretary to support the claims that General Buhari indeed sat for WAEC. What a contradiction in law.

Note:

Please note that, the only document submitted to the Army by General Muhammadu Buhari during enlistment in 1961 was a letter of recommendation from the Principal of Provincial Secondary School, Katsina state and the letter reads in parts… ”I recommend him suitable for military commissioning. I consider that HE WILL pass the WASC examination in English, Math and three other subjects.”

The high-points of the recommendation here is in anticipation that the General Buhari will write and pass WAEC in the above listed subjects, not that he has written. Wao.

Read the PDP and Atiku/Obi’s appeal at the Supreme Court:

The Learned Justices of the Court of Appeal erred in law when they held as follows:

“The Petitioners claimed that they have proved the false Affidavit and in addition they pleaded and tendered public statements made by the Secretary to the Army Board both in the electronic and print Media and relied on Exhibit P80 and P24 to show that the Army emphatically denied the claim and as such onus shifts on the 2nd Respondent to disprove it.

The fact remains that the Petitioners failed to call the then Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Olajide Laleye who they pleaded in paragraph 396 of the Petition as having debunked the assertion of 2nd Respondent contained in Affidavit sworn to on 24/11/2014. The said paragraph 396 constitutes the fountain and pivot of the Petitioners’ allegation of and they have a bounden duty to show that the Affidavit contained false information of a fundamental nature in aid of his qualification for election.”

PARTICULARS OF ERROR:

The 2nd Respondent claimed that his certificates “are currently” with the Secretary to the Military Board who is under the authority and command of the 2nd Respondent as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

In the Affidavit verifying the information contained in Exhibit P1, the 2nd Respondent stated that “they are true and correct”.

Apart from PW62 who gave evidence on the qualification of the 2nd Respondent, the 2nd Respondent’s witnesses namely RW1, RW2, RW3 and RW4 were cross examined on the 2nd Respondent’s claimed qualifications and Exhibit P1 and elicited evidence favourable to the case of the Appellants.

The 2nd Respondent particularly called RW1 in aid of his qualification but he repudiated the claim of the 2nd Respondent that his certificates were with the Secretary to the Military Board.

The 2nd Respondent did not at any time deny or challenge the contents of Exhibit P1.

In further aid of his qualification, the 2nd Respondent tendered Exhibit R23 which contained Brigadier Olajide Laleye’s denial that the Military has the 2nd Respondent’s certificates in its possession.

PDP to APC: Your Insult on Jonathan, Misdirected, Best Suits Buhari
…Says APC Seeks to Divert Attention from Corruption in Buhari’s Presidency

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s unwarranted invective on former President Goodluck Jonathan was misdirected as it best suits President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC administration, which has gone down as the most incompetent and most corrupt in the history of our nation.

The party says the distortions and groundless attack on President Jonathan is a desperate tactic by the APC and the Buhari Presidency to divert public attention from the recent shocking corruption and fraud revelations in which close relatives and confidants of Mr. President are mentioned.

The PDP has been made aware of how the Presidency has been in a frenzy to suppress investigations and deflect public enquiries from the arrest of President Buhari’s known confidant deported from the United Kingdom for alleged international passport scam and money laundering, as it knows that an inquest will further expose the huge rot in the Buhari Presidency.

Our party has equally been made aware of how the APC and the Buhari Presidency have been desperate to divert public attention from the administration's obnoxious decision to further oppress Nigerians by reintroducing tollgates on our highway, increasing Value Added Tax (VAT), electricity bill and other tariffs as well as their despicable plot to sack government workers.

The PDP charges the APC and the Buhari Presidency to perish the idea of thinking that this unnecessary distortions on the Jonathan administration would bury the demand for an inquest into the Danu racket through which billions of naira meant for the wellbeing of Nigerians are allegedly being diverted to private purses.

The PDP invites Nigerians to note how the APC had remained silent since revelations that its key leaders and the cabal at the Presidency are involved in the stealing of over N14 trillion meant for the wellbeing of Nigerians.

Our party further challenges the APC and the Buhari Presidency to speak out on the alleged diversion of the N500bn meant for the Social Investment Programme among other humongous fraud directly perpetrated under the Buhari Presidency.

Furthermore, in trying to tar the PDP, the APC forgets that it is already common knowledge that all the bad eggs that brought a bad name to the PDP have since left our repositioned party to the APC where their National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who also has a huge corruption allegation on his neck, admitted that the party is a haven for corrupt persons.

More over, the fact that President Buhari can only surround himself with persons openly indicted for corruption, as ministers and advisers, speaks volume of the administration’s posturing on corruption.

The PDP therefore charges the APC not to think that it can cover its mess by trying to make unfounded allegations against President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP as Nigerians can now see through their shenanigans.

PDP Congratulates Govs. Ayade, Ihedioha Over Victory At Tribunal

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congratulates Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade and Imo state Governor Emeka Ihedioha for their victories at the Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in the respective states.

The party says the verdicts of the tribunals in upholding the elections of the two governors reestablish them as the choice of the people of their states as expressed in their comprehensive victories in the March 2019 governorship election.

The PDP holds that the verdicts therefore signifies the triumph of justice and the will of the people over anti-people forces seeking to undermine the aspiration of the citizens of the states.

The party notes that the people of Cross River state were overjoyed by the verdict as it marks the consolidating of the giant strides already achieved by Governor Ayade in critical sectors particularly, industrialization, manufacturing, education, agriculture, tourism, housing road infrastructure, job opportunities among others.

In the same vein, the verdict by the Imo state tribunal has reinforced the confidence of the people in their determination to salvage and reposition their state under Governor Emeka Ihedioha.

Since his inauguration in May, Governor Emeka Ihedioha has rekindled the hope of the people for a better state with his effort towards order, accountability and transparency in the polity. This is in addition to his established commitment towards revamping critical infrastructure in the state especially in the road, manufacturing, education, urban and rural development, security, healthcare among others.

The PDP urges the governors as well as other public officials elected and appointed on its platform to continue in the spirit of selfless service to the people, in line with its manifesto and visions of our founding fathers.
