You also did not include the cost of harvesting.

When you buy back the seeds do you have a kind plant to convert it to biodiesel?

It is now by choice. Lol...! Why are you so much concerned about the ban after playing down on it as though Muslim girls are not taunted for not putting it on. There is a big doctrine behind hijab to show that a girl is a virgin. I know more about those shitty ideologies than you think. I am not going to Google on any hypocritical notion to make Muslims look exonerated why doing something else in the secret.

They are look down upon when they aren't wearing hijab. In fact, women not wearing hijab are seen as those who possibly have lost their virginity or seen as p r o s t i t u t e s. Try it in Saudi Arabia, if you are a lady and see how people would react to you. You have not traveled far and wide in Muslim countries as I have.

Islam is just about a thousand an five hundred years old and many of those developed nation have been known what is called civilization for over three thousand years. You should know according to the Bible story Romans were in world power during the Jesus Christ era. Please, take that you Islamic development sh*t idea to some primitive villagers in Nigeria not me. The important of your view is lost on you though.

Why would you think Saudi Arabia represents all Muslims. Gosh! Saudi is Strict even for most Muslims so you can't describe all Muslims with their strictest representations. They are just about 30 million in that country which is about 2% of the entire Muslim Population. If you must generalize, a more sensible representation would be Indonesia&Turkey which make up for about 20% of the entire Muslim population. where women are not treated badly for not wearing Hijab. And I doubt this your Saudi story is valid seeing as I have been to other gulf countries were people dress freely free of harrassment.

I really give up on you!

That last paragraph should embarass you. When you realize it, if ever, you will wonder what you smoked to have penned such nonsense!

And if you still can't resist the urge to talk about Islam and Muslims, do some reading. At the end you might still hate the religion but your criticisms of it will be more intelligent.

Bye!!!

You have waffled through unreasonable idea and expected me to believe it. That is appalling to say the least. You claim is watered down to a false information making it look as though it is mere scarf when it is very significant to matured Muslim girls in the society. Go to some Muslim countries and see how a lady would be treated if not wearing that hijab. Please, burger off in your primitive man's reasoning! I am not going to accept that your blatant opinion based on lies. You are entitled to them though.
Stop using wrong examples in your posts. I am not persecuting anybody for wearing hijab as you are making it to look like but the fact remains it is way to control those girls through religious indoctrination and can be very disturbing to the developed society than be it necessarily unavoidable to God instruction. Please...!
Muslim didn't build the developed world. If that your claim is a fact. Why are Muslim countries not so developed?

The use of Hijab is by choice. I even know a few ladies who use at great personal cost despite antagonism from family and friends. Google Tawakkul Karman and hear what she has to say. She has a Nobel

Its a lie!!! Muslim countries do not treat women without Hijabs with disrespect, if you have been to Turkey, Indonesia, or Dubai you will know this

Of course the Muslims didn't directly build the developed world but they helped spark the renaissance which would have been delayed by two more centuries without their effort. Hopefully the import of that will not be lost on you.

It does hurt me for fear of unknown terror hiding behind that archaic cloth could be having a bomb. Young girls have used it to attack people in suicide bombing in Northern in Nigeria presently. That is terror weapon clothes if you asked me. So to avoid that it should be banned because it can be done away with in classes. If that is not the case, developed countries is not built on backward culture and putting on such archaic religious cloths in public institution is way of saying I don't belong here. So it is better to go to Muslim countries and dress that way. The black skin cannot be changed to look like white not matter how you try because it is genetic like the white skin. Those who refused to changed will remain to be seen as barbarians. Barbarians are not well received in developed society. The earlier Muslims realize that the better for them to move on with their pathetic lives.

Well it is unfortunate that happened, and if that was the reason cited for banning the Hijab, we would understand. But clearly that was no where near the list of the concerns so, sorry about that.

There is really nothing archaic about Muslim Abayas or clothing, if you are in doubt ask the Oil Sheikhs of Middle East.

Actually your much vaunted developed countries would not have been where they are today if not for the early Muslims of Andalus. Ever heard of that? Educate yourself, buddy and stop listening to media trash.

It does when it is one of Muslim violent religion symbols like KKK to Negroes in USA. Please, make use of your brain to differentiate the differences here. One is a potent symbol of a violent religious people and the other is genetic of human being like every other human being out there with different skin color.

Apparently you are the one who needs a brain here since you think a simple head scarf is a symbol of violence. and that the actions of a few errant Muslims determine the character of about 1.4 billion others.

There is a big difference. One can be done away with the wearing of hijab(I can as well refer to it as Ebola) and the other from nature(genetic) which cannot be changed. The example of your argument is skewed though.

No it isn't. My Hijab doesn't hurt you and you attack me. The same with my skin colour.

If you don't see a similarity you are probably the kind of person who would commit a hate crime against a person just because of hijab.

I haven't see any with my own eyes in public school(private school in UK or Nigeria). The fact that people are against it makes it something disturbing to wear to schools. I feel sorry for Muslim girls forced into wearing that archaic clothes. It is a shame on that religion though.

Go and sit down Mr man. If you really want to kill yourself over this issue of hijab, talk to your wealthy Muslim brothers to build Islamic schools and stop wasting money on terrorism.

Your female folks can wear hijab to Islamic schools ONLY. You don't have to look like a masquerade and smell like sh..t before you cover you body. It's common sense. Dress well and wear clothes that'll cover your body. I do not understand how a woman's hair or face has become a sensitive part that can be termed indecent or seductive, except you mean to tell me that your muslim brothers are moved by any part of a woman's body they see, even the nose or ears.

Please you all need to stop getting on ppl nerves. A lot of you guys have caused too many problems for the world already.

Another reason why Hijab should be allowed is to let young people learn to tolerate other people and prevent them from growing into adults who would spew this kind of ignorance and hate thinking it to be common sense.

This is not just about religion, it is about fairness and justice for all. You might perceive a person's choice to be foolish but he's entitled to it and it is plain injustice to use your power/authority to deprive him of that right.

Not in public school. It used to be in Europe but it's quickly banned after seeing how Muslim extremists could possibly use it to commit more evils.

On the American public schools, Google is your friend sir. And the ban of Hijab in MOST of Europe is not due its potential to be used by terrorist but mainly to maintain the European Identity and sundry issues.

Same way by regulation I should be allowed to post in any section on Nairaland without having to confess to being of a particular religious persuasion.

BTW the court decision does not stop anyone from attending school so your conclusion is false.

Effectively it does. A conscious Muslim girl won't go out with her hair uncovered. When you ban hijab in schools she can't go.

You see, the roots of all discriminations are IGNORANCE & FEAR!

voltron:

prayer breaks 5 times in a school day?

1. There would never be need for prayer breaks as no Prayer falls between regular school hours 8am - 2pm

voltron:

Female teachers for female students?

2. Even in Islamic Schools Male teachers teach both male and female students and vice versa.

voltron:

Clerics to come in to teach Muslim kids, isolation and non-interaction with "infidels".

3. Muslims who go to school expect to learn about the world not religion. A school is never the best place learn about Islam, anyway.

4. And contrary to what you might believe, interacting with Non-muslims is not a problem for Muslims.

voltron:

Why not simply invest in more Muslim only institutions if you want pure Islamic values adhered to there.

5. If all Muslims went to such Muslim-Only schools and Christians to christian-only schools we would have a divided society which would be constantly at war with itself. The only way forward is to strive for understanding which leads to mutual respect and tolerance.

That is a good thing to do in a developing society that wants to progress. They aren't ninjas so hijab should be banned. Boko Haram could have easily used it to their own advantage to carry out their nefarious activities.

Go Lagos , the most developed state in Nigeria.

In case you didn't know, USA is far more secular and advanced than we are yet Muslim children freely wear hijab to school WITH AND WITHOUT UNIFORM.

Upheld means that the court agrees with the decision of the Lagos state government to stop the wearing of Hijab in public schools.
Sensible decision by the court as otherwise it means anybody can wear anything to school since we have freedom to choose which defeats the idea of school uniform.
The issue now is, does the government have the political will to enforce this decision?

A uniform is not such a sacred element of education that it can't be changed to accommodate people who, due to religious obligation, need to dress a little differently.

With appropriate regulation, girls can wear Hijab without breaking the "uniformity" of school uniforms.

A Court decision that says shuts out a particular group of people from schools because of a harmless form of dressing is INTOLERANT not SENSIBLE.

Yes we all pay tax and everyone should be allowed free access to public spaces irrespective belief. You keep mentioning Uniforms as if they are scared objects sent from heaven and not made by human beings. The point is MAKE UNIFORMS THAT ACCOMODATE HIJAB FOR THOSE WHO WANT IT!

I wonder why all this talk about wearing Hijab, In Sokoto where I served Christians were forced to wear Hijab why? They say its part of their school uniforms. And do you see those christians complaining? NO!.
Even in times of daily devotion, In Sokoto especially in the school in served the never say christian prayer, its only muslim prayer, and the lackadaisical manner at which they sing the national anthem is appalling.
Why is it that when decisions doesn't favor muslims they shout their head out!?.
To me Lagos state government have the right to say what goes on in its school and what doesn't!. Any parent who want his or her child/ward to wear hijab should send that child to and Islamic school period, just the way parents send their kids to private universities because of ASUU strike.
If you ask me, I'll say religion: Christianity and Islam should be banned! There continuous struggle for supremacy is adding to the episodic decadence that has been tearing this country apart since 1960.

If your rights were trampled on and you failed to speak, You have no one to blame but yourself. Muslims cannot be forced to use the Hijab let alone non-muslims. Even in Saudi Arabia, no one will force you to cover your hair

Why the Hijab ban is flawed

1. Muslims pay tax and have the right to attend public institutions. The Public institutions should therefore not be set up in such a way to preclude Muslims from attending. People made the rules, and people can change them.

2. Christians really have no obligation to wear white garments beyond the church and neither do the traditional worshipers have any religious clothes. So allowing Hijabs will NOT translate to chaos. I know many christian boys who wear rosaries all the time and no one has ever challenged that.

3. We should also stop the lie that there is no religion in public schools. The fact that students pray on assembly everyday and that religious studies are still taught negates this.

4. Nigeria is secular on paper only. Its the reason why religious leaders still have so much influence in our politics a la Oristejafor and Northern Emirs;the reason why we pray in every government function and even sponsor people on religious pilgrimages with taxpayers money. Countries that are truly secular don't do these.

5. By banning Hijab in public schools its easy to see how the ban may soon include all public places in the name of secularism; government offices including the House of Reps and Senate are also public spaces which should be devoid of all religious symbols.

6. Must it to get to that before we see how a Hijab ban erodes the fundamental human rights of Muslims?

7. By criminalizing Hijab in schools, what lesson are we passing across to young ones about tolerance and mutual respect?

8. Yet Hijab harms no one. Those who oppose it do so only because they don't like it.
