We are talking about a former commissioner of finance here. What investment did Okonjo bring into the country ? mekaboy: You must be misinformed. From the first day she came into office she stressed the need to save for the rainy day. She stressed the need to cut cost of governance.
She insisted that leakages must be blocked hence the attempt to remove subsidy and biometric verification.
He relentless effort for diversification led to the reformation of the agric sector in partnership with the agric minister. The introduction of e-wallet , rice mills reducing the amount spent on importation of rice yearly by 40%.
Today bans have been lifted for rice importation by the buhari led administration, when Nigeria should be focused on export.
NOI i will say is the most hated finance minister Nigeria ever had. And we know that when Nigerian politicians hate you, it means you are doing something right.
Of all th3 accusations made against her, she defended herself and was not found guilty of mismanagement.
Even when oshiomole wanted to take loan to spoil his new found babe iyara, she refused. This has made her oshiomoles no 1 enemy.
If you are really looking for who to blame for Nigerias situation, blame the governors.
Your personal opinion about her is not the basis for all the offices she has held and is holding today. It is based on her performance. god bless u with dis comment. People are saying she raped and destroyed the economy and they cant pinpoint the actual ppolicy or thing she did that collapsed the economy. The economy is built by states, ones states are viable, the nation becomes robust and sound. Once states are struggling, the centre will battle to contain it. Okonjo did what she supposed to do, she has never awarded any contracts, she wasnt heading d power or works ministries. She was making policies that would encourage investors to come in and invest period. Any one attacking her shud pls tell us the wrong moves and policies she made that collapsed the economy. |

Babacele: The Op is mischievous deliberately lifting a part of a sentence because it helps him to spread lies n hatred about PMB. Unless you are not a Catholic ,my Lord bishop Onaiyekan would never promote misconceptions . Hear him:
Your Eminence, from the way you are speaking, it is like you are not seeing any difference between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Any difference? There is a difference all right; there is a difference. There is a difference between PDP and APC. The difference is simply this: PDP was a very well-established organization, they have been rul ing us for a long time, they were rather sure about what they were doing and they were just doing business as usual. For them, the question of change is not really the matter. They had also become used to the corrupt system of government so that for them, corruption was not a problem. With APC, at least, what they say, they want a change. And they are talking that there should be an end to corruption. They now know that this is a war that all of us must be part of. We didn’t hear much of that under PDP. In all this, are you convinced that Buhari can take us out of the woods? He is in the woods now, let’s see how he will get out of it. That is the only time when we can answer the question (laughs). http://sunnewsonline.com/new/ its-difficult-to-say-there-is- government-in-power-onaiyekan/ ( Go Up ) pdp is a well established organisation, what d cardinal failed to tell u is an organisation is made up of people, people make organisation, organisation dont make people and most of the people who made this organisation are now in apc. So they went with the corrupt blood and transport it to form a new organisation, different name but the same people who nigerians were fed up with in the old and corrupt organisation. Take this, u can change a baby but u cant change a man! |

dovetark: We've dated officially for over 3 years, I have to admit she's a nice girl when her heart is in it, but certain events have occurred which has left a once blissful relationship sour. Prior to the series of events that have brought us to this point, I used to feel like a superhuman with her in my life (for real I could do anything I set my mind to do and succeed), but all that has changed... Life happened!!! We've both been hit by series of events that have adjusted our perspective on how we view life which has undoubtedly affected us. Since the beginning of this year, we've been on a free fall with our emotions. We've not had intense quarrels neither have we had intense passion being together of late (I admit, they both spice up a relationship) and we have grossly neglected each others feelings. We both played our roles in getting to where we are now, I feel the door closing in fast on us and I can't stand this flip-flop of emotions involved.
We've tried taking a break and that didn't work, I have suggested severally that we just remain friends and end the relationship but I really don't know why she doesn't agree to that. We can't just stand each others bullshit anymore but still a part of us wants it to go back to how it used to be I guess that's the reason we've been hanging on.
I am not here to cry over spilled milk, rather, I am here to seek advice on how I would successful end this relationship without it having profound effects on my psychology and emotions while maintaining optimum productivity as an individual. Please your comments are needed and appreciated. Thank you Nairaland.
Please don't just read, I need your suggestions. so what is d problem? |

am ibibio, i truly support biafra bigtime. My opinion though cos i know thr s noway biafra would be carved out of present nigeria without southsouth going too. Though the igbos r majority and ss minority with plenty tribes, i know thr will be congent agreement from both sides and the constitution will be design in such a way no tribe or clan or ethnic group is shortchange like what is happening in nigeria. We will adopt a concise federalist system of govt where every state will be independent of the centre. I belief in BIAFRA! I will belief in nigeria if the present govt will implement the last confab report. The way they r going idont see the possibility of that happening, and i dont see the possibility of facilitating another sovereign national conference under this administration. |

Politics › Re: Fuel Scarcity Bites Harder, Petrol Now N400 Per Litre - Punch by IbokUtoroh(m): 11:02am On Nov 15, 2015 |
lastpage: Most Nigerians, especially our YOUTHS....... have truly "lost it"! In some countries, YOUTHS are at the Vanguard of turning their country around but our own Nigerian Youths, like this firefire, Barcanista, temitemi, ServereSnake, e.t.c...... wallow in Stewpidity and ignorance, with a beclouded sense (or lack of it) of Judgement!
Lets look at it for a minute: There is Petrol scarcity yet, those selling at the "Black Market" have the fuel to sell! Simple reasoning and logic will imply that "There is actually no Petrol scarcity (otherwise, where would the Black Marketers get it to sell?).. ...But what we have is SIMPLE HOARDING of petrol by the Marketers!
In Nigeria, we must agree that we are saddled by EVIL, UNPATRIOTIC MEN and WOMEN who would not bath an eyelid, to ruin their country, for personal gain. From those who "fake" everything from infant formula or vehicle parts, to those who strip our bridges of its protective, safety railings, to those who steal overhead Power Cables. The list is endless.
So, it is not surprising that some Marketers and retail outlets, for personal gains, have decided to hold Nigeria and Nigerians to ransom. Fuel that is supposed to be sold at the pump, is hoarded, to create an artificial scarcity, increase demand due to panic-buying and thus create the perfect avenue for extortionist pricing. The hoarded fuel is then given to "thugs and urchins", by the same marketers and retailers, to be sold on the streets as "Black market" fuel, at times diluted with other solvents, to increase their profit!
Most of these Retailers flagrantly increase the pump price of petrol and "tamper with their dispensing machine so that it under-dispense, below what is paid for, by the buyer.
Thus, we live in an environment that is morbidly corrupt and if care is not taken, the corruption will eventually kill Nigerians. A few people get burnt from trying to store Petrol at home, due to this sort of hoarding-related scarcity. Some get burnt at the fuel station, when carnage ensues. We destroy our environment when people who cant get fuel, resort to other means like the use of firewood, to get by
When we combine the effect of poor electricity supply, high temperatures, lack of fuel to power Generators and the recent lack of pipe-borne water, it is easy to observe that we are not only creating an environment for disaster and disease but for a complete breakdown of our society.
You might think it does not affect you probably because you can afford the "black market" or you have a few jerry cans of fuel stored-away but *what if your neighbours house catches fire and spreads to your own? *What if the Bus/Taxi you entered stores fuel in the boot and catches fire? *What if another vehicle with fuel stored in it rams your own vehicle and both catches fire? *What if it is your loved ones that meet their untimely death as a result of the above scenario?
This is why l am surprised that some of our YOUTHS who prefer to play "ignorant tribalism", at the expense of their future, when they should be demanding that the Hoarders of fuel get arrested and prosecuted while they themselves constitute themselves into the vanguard of restoring "normalcy" to their otherwise traumatised life.
Running abroad is gradually becoming uneasy as those people are increasingly becoming very hostile to immigrants, especially the "black ones". Even the "blacks" born there and citizens by birth, still face a lot of discrimination, harassment and intimidation.... moreso with the backdrop of influx and terrorist activities, some of which are linked to immigrants, in recent past.
This challenge does not belong to Buhari alone (He is just a figure-head, representative of the aspirations of most Nigerians) but the bulk of the work, rests on the shoulder of the citizens.
Nigeria, Biafra or whatever area of the country you affiliate with, will become too dangerous to live-in, if you guys continue on this your "part of perfidy and pattern of destruction". I will predict that in less than 10yrs from now, the "WEST" will categorically prevent most Nigerians and peopel of Islamic extract, from accessing their country........ and rightly so! Thus, we should think of what we want our country to look like, play our part in ensuring that it looks like that...just like westerners have been ensuring their country is the envy of foreigners
To do otherwise is to "go to sleep with one's roof on fire"
Like an adage says "Heaven would fall, is not one man's Headache". As we lay our bed, so we will lie on it.
Let those who have ears, let them hear!
Lastpage! thought there s a new SHERIFF in town? Abi d sheriff na just whistle him dey carry waka? Its a shame when people equate buhari as a demigod, blame nigerians for not being proactive to situations that supposed to be tackledby the new sheriff. |

This was the same reason the emir of Kano, Sanusi, got away with the embezzlement of large sums of money through the print and mint scandal. Besides, since the EFCC, had verifiable evidence against the CCT chair, why didn't they start proceedings against him. They are an autonomous body, and are empowered by the constitution to bring to the book anyone, who has engaged in financial misappropriation. Why must the head of the EFCC, be told by the President to do his job. this is always my question, how come inec did their work independently without the executive interferring, and another independent organisation like efcc and icpc will need a pass from the presidency before they could start judicial process against looters of our funds?
