The ancient city of Maiduguri, Borno state capital was again thrown into a heavy pandemonium on Friday following a bomb explosion that rocked the city. DailyPost gathered that the bomb which was targeted at some soldiers, left two people dead while nearby houses and shops were razed. According to a statement by the army spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, the two people killed were suspected to be the bombers. He said “No civilian was killed or wounded,” It is a fact that Maiduguri is the home base of Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram, which has carried out a violent campaign against the North. It has been confirmed that over 3,000 people have lost their lives to Boko haram attacks since 2009. The military has come under heavy pressure to show progress in the fight against the dreaded group. SOURCE http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com |

The war between the EME boss "Banky W" and Wizkid has taken a different dimension and it looks like Wizkid will maintain his stands on leaving the EME crew. We got news from a relaiable source in the team that banky W recently slamed wizkid on twitter following a phone conversation between the both of them. It was learnt that during the conversation, BankyW was pleading with Wizkid to change his decision on his exit from the team but wizkid payed deaf ears and said his decision stands, But since BankyW has been trying to control the situation and prevent the news from getting to the public, he begged wizkid to show up at his album launch and surprisingly wizkid turned him down, this made BankyW mad and felt so disappointed about wizzy's decision. We later confirmed that banky W slamed wizkid on twitter and without much delay, wizkid returned the tweets.. Wizkid now has the opportunity of continuing his musical career with Konvict music. We learned from a reliable source that wizkid recently left the country to make moves on his deal with konvict music. So many reporters have been calling the EME boss to confirm the situation but he has been avoiding calls recently just to avoid questions that are arising due to the development. I wonder what the EME crew will look like without starboy wizzy.. The question is can Skales lift the team as high as wizkid has ? Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sullivan Chime, on Monday night confessed to have had cancer. The governor said he stayed abroad for too long in order to remove cancerous tumours from his neck and nose before they could spread. Chime, who spoke to journalists in Enugu, said that he was not sick initially when he departed the country on September 19, 2012 but that his health altered as a result of the agony and trauma he went through in the course of removing the cancerous tumours in London. Chime was away from the country for upward of 140 days thus generating a controversy over how long a governor could leave his state with many, including a Save Enugu Group asking for a transfer of power to his deputy. In narrating how he stayed out of the country from September 19, 2012 to February 7, 2013, the governor said, “In August last year, I was privileged to be one of those nominated by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum to go to Germany to study their federalism, I was to represent the South-East zone; I had to use the opportunity of the trip to pass through London to do my medicals since it was the only opportunity I had to do that. After my medical, I was certified fit by the doctors, but I noticed that I had a little growth beneath my jaw. Ordinarily, nobody could see it but I felt it seriously and asked the doctors to do further investigation on it. “I was later referred to a GP who after examining me said there was nothing wrong with me. I still asked for further investigation. I even made arrangement with them to help me set appointment for closer investigation. I left for Germany and had to still return to London to keep the appointment for proper screening of the growth. It was after the screening that it was discovered that the growth in question was cancerous. It was also discovered that the main tumour was behind my nose; it was simply called cancer of the nose.” Chime said he indeed planned for a long trip and duly informed the Enugu State House of Assembly and made arrangement for the smooth running of the state. He said, “Cancer is such a thing that when you hear it, the person involved will even declare himself dead instantly. I was subjected to further scanning at the nose and neck and was told that it was curable, not manageable. When I asked how to go about it, I was told it had to be as early as possible before it spreads to other areas. “Accordingly, I arranged for it to be done. I had to cancel further trips and agreed to be back to London in two weeks. Within the period, I came back to Nigeria and made arrangement for transmission. I wrote a letter to the Speaker, informing him of my decision to proceed on leave and sought his cooperation to work with my Deputy who will act as Governor. “We even held two executive council meetings within the period where I informed members of my exco that I was proceeding on a long vacation. I left for Abuja the next day and attended the Governors’ Forum meeting and the next day I left for London, settled in and saw the oncologist the next day. The governor said the news of his rumoured death sometime last year indeed amused him. “When I read in the papers that I had died in India, it was a source of entertainment. Each time we wanted to laugh, we looked for Nigeria papers online,” he said. He however took exception to alleged attempts to liken his case with that of the late President Umaru Yar’adua who died of heart disease in 2010. Chime said his case was “never an emergency and it can never be likened to that of Yar’Adua.” “While Yar’Adua travelled out sick. I travelled out a healthy man and let me also tell you that the attacks started about two weeks after I left” he added. Meanwhile, he said he had informed the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly that he had resumed his duties though he declared that he was not in perfect health yet. “I was officially discharged, that’s why I had to return. I’m still in the process of recovery and as such you don’t expect me to start running tomorrow but I’m free to resume duties to ensure that activities are running on full speed,” the governor said. A Nigerian based in South Africa, Ozoh Chukwuemeka, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for trafficking N50m worth of cocaine. The 45-year-old barber was apprehended at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos with 6.100kg of the substance. The drug was detected during the outward clearance of Arik Air passengers to South Africa. NDLEA Airport commander, Mr Hamza Umar, said the discovery was made at the baggage checking desk at the departure hall. He said, “The drug which was neatly hidden in a false compartment of Ozoh’s luggage was discovered during routine check on passengers.” Ozoh, a father of one, insisted on his innocence. He claimed he was made to believe the bag contained chemicals. He said, “A friend of mine in South Africa requested that I bring a bag containing chemicals from Nigeria to South Africa for $3,000. I asked him if it was drug but he said it was just chemicals. He paid for my return ticket. “I am only struggling to take care of myself with my barbing business. If I had known that things will turn out this way I would have rejected the proposal.” NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, said Ozoh’s explanation was unacceptable. “At 45 years, he should have known better. In any case, ignorance is not an excuse and he will soon be arraigned under the NDLEA Act as soon as investigation is concluded,” he added. http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com |
An aircraft belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, with registration number: 5NNOC operated by Aero Contractors yesterday overshot the runway on landing at Osubi airport in Warri, Delta State. Vanguard gathered that there was no fatality resulting from the incident which occurred during the routine operations of the NNPC, as no passenger sustained any injury in the aircraft. At the time of filling this report, it was not clear whether the aircraft suffered any damage. When contacted to speak on the incident, the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Dr. Harold Demuren, who confirmed the incident, said the incident did not involve any fatality, stressing that the aircraft only overshot the runway. Dr. Demuren, however, pointed out that NCAA had already sent some of its officials to Osubi airport to evaluate the situation and report back to the agency. He said: “There is no fatality at all about the incident that happened at Osubi airport earlier today. It was just that the aircraft overshot the runway. We have sent our people there already and we will get back to you soon,” he added. Earlier, the Acting Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Mr. Tumini Green, in a statement, said the aircraft was on a routine operation to Warri when it overshot the runway at Osubi airport. The statement said there were no casualties or injuries and that the appropriate aviation agencies had been contacted and had commenced investigations. http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com |
Security sources also confirmed to Vanguard that the suspect subsequently led men of the JTF to two others, one of them, an undergraduate student, connected to the attack. Several gunmen had opened fire on the convoy of the Emir of Kano on Saturday January 19, 2013, as the monarch headed away from an occasion he had just attended, killing six and injuring many, including two of the Emir’s sons. Security agents had on Monday, January 21, 2013, arrested a man who they claimed was a principal suspect in the attack and who they said had been providing them with useful information about others involved in the attack, information which led to the arrest of three others. http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com |
Federal House of Representative is set to probe the Destination Inspection contract between the federal government and the three service providers, Cotecna Destination Nigeria Limited, SGS and Global Scansystems. Vanguard gathered that the leadership of the House set up a committee to probe the contract following the recent controversy which resulted in its extension. The committee Vanguard learnt, is charged with the responsibility of critically examining the contract in its entirety and issue surrounding clauses leading to the hand over of the scanning function to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). When contacted, Chairman of one of House Committee, confirmed the setting up of the committee, but however declined to give any details. Aminu Mohammed, who is the head of Customer Relations of Cotecna told Vanguard when contacted that they have not received any letter from the House informing them of the said probe, although he has heard about it. Mohammed told our Correspondent that the House Committee on Customs recently visited all the scanning sites of the three service providers, adding that nothing was mentioned about any probe was mention. He said the committee was satisfied with what they saw after the touring. He noted that members of the Committee of Customs did not mention anything about the said probe. When asked if there is need for concern on their part should the Committee commence work, Mohammed who was initially reluctant to react, said that they have met and even surpassed all the terms of the contract entered into with the federal government. Chief Executive Officer of Global Scansystems, Mr. Fred N. Udechukwu, on his part told Vanguard that they are not aware of any such probe but assured that they have met and surpassed what they were asked to do. Udechukwu who said they will be waiting for the invitation, further explained that but for their intervention on the first of January, there would have been chaos if they had closed shop like others did. He pointed out that they did what they have to do because they are Nigerians who have the interest of the nation at heart. Efforts to get the reaction of SGS Scanning Nigeria Limited proved abortive, as they would not respond to requires to them on the issue. When Vanguard called SGS office, an official of the company said the Managing Director, Mr. Nigel Balchin, who is the only one who could respond is out of town. Tournament favourites, Cote D’Ivoire have said that Nigeria cannot stand in their way of reaching the semifinal of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. The Ivorians are bidding for a third successive semifinal place at the continental football fiesta but standing in their way are the Nigerians, who they confront on Sunday at the Royal Bafikong Stadium. The golden generation as the Ivorians are referred to are gunning for the first title since the Ivorians last won at the 1992 edition held in Senegal, where they defeated Ghana’s Black Stars on penalties. For the likes of captain Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue, this might be their last attempt to write their names in gold by winning the trophy but with a a confrontation against Nigeria coming so soon in the quarters, the Ivorians are living nothing to chance. Speaking ahead of the match, Drogba, said the Ivorians have what it takes to beat Nigeria. “We are ready for the match against the Nigerians. We would do what we have to do to get to the semifinal. Nigeria would be tough but we are confident of beating our opponent”, said Drogba. For Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure, the match against the Nigerians would show their champion stuff of the Elephants. “It is going to be an interesting and tough match. We are getting set for them and hope that the world would see the best football on the day. We are not going to underrate them because they came with some new players. For us, a match against Nigeria provides us the opportunity to show that we are champions in the making”, said Toure. Also speaking, Arsenal forward, Gervinho, who has been in red-hot form at the tournament, said he hopes to find the back of the net against the Nigerians. “My job as a striker is to score and this would be my objective when we play Nigeria. Goals are what make the difference between a winner and a loser. It would be difficult game but we are hopeful of a victory”, said Gervinho SOURCE http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com |
Syria threatened Thursday to retaliate for an Israeli airstrike and its ally Iran said there will be repercussions for the Jewish state over the attack, Associated Press reports. United States officials said Israel launched a rare airstrike inside Syria on Wednesday. The target was a convoy believed to be carrying anti-aircraft weapons bound for Hezbollah, the powerful Lebanese militant group allied with Syria and Iran. In Israel, a lawmaker close to hard-line Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stopped short of confirming involvement in the strike. But he hinted that Israel could carry out similar missions in the future. The attack has inflamed regional tensions already running high over Syria’s 22-month-old civil war. Israeli leaders in the days leading up to the airstrike had been publicly expressing concern that Syrian President Bashar Assad may be losing his grip on the country and its arsenal of conventional and nonconventional weapons. Regional security officials said on Wednesday that the targeted shipment included sophisticated Russian-made SA-17 anti-aircraft missiles, which if acquired by Hezbollah would enhance its military capabilities by enabling the militants to shoot down Israeli jets, helicopters and surveillance drones. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media. The Syrian military denied there was any weapons convoy and said low-flying Israeli jets had crossed into their country over the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights to bomb a scientific research center near Damascus. It said the target was in the area of Jamraya, northwest of Damascus and about 15 kilometers from the Lebanese border. Maj. Gen. Abdul-Aziz Jassem al-Shallal, who in December became one of the most senior Syrian army officers to defect, told Associated Press on the telephone from Turkey that the site they said was targeted is a “major and well-known” center to develop weapons known as the Scientific Research Center. Al-Shallal, who until his defection was commander of the military police, said no chemical or nonconventional weapons are at the site. He added that foreign experts, including Russians and Iranians, are usually present at such centers. Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul-Karim Ali threatened retribution for the Israeli airstrike, saying Damascus “has the option and the capacity to surprise in retaliation.” He told Hezbollah’s al-Ahd news website that it was up to the relevant authorities to prepare the retaliation and choose the time and place. The Syrian Foreign Ministry summoned Major-General Iqbal Singh Singha, the head of mission and force commander for United Nations Disengagement Observer Force on the Golan Heights, to complain about the Israeli violation. The force was established in 1974 following the disengagement of Israeli and Syrian forces in the area and has remained there since to maintain the cease-fire. Israel captured the Golan, a strategic plateau, from Syria in the 1967 Middle East war. Hezbollah condemned the attack as “barbaric aggression” and said it “expresses full solidarity with Syria’s command, army and people.” The group did not mention any weapons convoy in the statement but said the strike aimed to prevent Arab and Muslim forces from developing their military capabilities. In Iran, the semi-official Fars news agency quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian as saying the raid will have significant implications for Israel. Senator Emma Nwaka is chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State. In this interview, he sheds light on the controversy surronding the purported return to the party of the former governor of the State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu among other issues concerning governance in the state. Excerpts: How have you been able to insulate the governor and the government in the regular politicking? In this state, we have a governor who is disposed to working with everybody. Although he is doing his last term, he works like a man who wants to do another term. The political heavyweights in Abia state are pleased with him. We have realised that for the party to replicate its giant strides in 2015 general elections, we need to maintain the momentum. What is working for us here is that we have a governor who has respect for all and sundry. He is not into this divide-and-rule thing. In some states, the bone of contention is who will succeed who. But here the governor is maintaining an open mind. I see a situation whereby the person who succeeds the governor is the person who various interests want. For sure, we want the best for Abia State. Former Governor Kalu left the PDP, and formed another party. He now claims to be back to the party. Are you aware? What is new that he is bringing to the party? He couldn’t run his party. He ran it aground. He had Imo and Abia states sometime, and lost both within the first term. Does that not tell you something about Kalu? Orji Kalu is not a good politician, but a good business man. I will ask him to concentrate on his business. He has run a party, won two states; instead of maintaining the tempo, he is now running back to the party he left. And all he has to show for his failure is celebrating that he has been accepted into the PDP. Has he been accepted? Who said so? It tells you something about his person. We are becoming very wary of him. The fears expressed by some elders of the party are now justified. In fact, God has a way of doing things. Sometime ago, the PDP chairmen of Igbere Ward A (Orji’s ward) and Ward B, returned the wards register of the party to the local government party chairman and said they had resigned from the PDP. Mr Nwaka, Abia PDP chair Mr Nwaka, Abia PDP chair Subsequently Orji Kalu invited them for a meeting; that was on the 10th of January; only for us to hear that on the 17th or thereabouts that the same people that resigned their membership of the party have readmitted Orji Uzor Kalu into the party. They are no longer members of the party. On what capacity did they do that? As the state chairman of the party, I issue out cards to registered members. In every ward, we assign unique numbers to every ward, accordingly. The card Orji Uzor Kalu is parading doesn’t fall into the register we gave to Igbere Ward A, not even Igbere Ward B. Our book of life in the state PDP is the membership register. Any person can carry a card, but if your name is not in the register, you are not part of us. In summary, Orji Uzor Kalu is not a member of our party. In fact, if you know him, he won’t like to end his politics in Igbere wards A and B. One day, he will come to me and I will ask him where he got the card he is parading. From the picture you painted, a crime has been committed already. How did he get the card? Check our register whether you can find the number he quoted. The local government chairman where Orji Uzor Kalu comes from was in my recent press conference. He brought out the register, and you discover that that number doesn’t fall into that category. People print Naira and Dollars; he could have done same. Why don’t you want Orji Uzor Kalu back? When you look at the party constitution, it says the ward executive can even refuse anyone membership of the party based on what they know about the person. The stakeholders of the party in Abia State said from what they know about Orji Kalu, if he comes in, there will be trouble. And there is already trouble. You can see him abusing the state governor. That’s a man who wants to be member. He is already saying the state governor will come for social justice and all that. He also says he wants to reclaim the party instead of leaving it to ‘madmen’. Who are you calling madmen? The orderliness in the party all this while was because of Orji Uzor Kalu. Reasonable men like Tony Ukasanya, Ojo Maduekwe, Onyema Ugochukwu and many more said they can’t work with him. Take a tour of Abia State and look for any iconic landmark that Orji Uzor Kalu left behind. He had eight years and it is just now that we are building the state secretariat and a conference centre, we are now doing those basic things that make us a state. When the minister for information said he was coming, we were very happy because we had much to display. The minister couldn’t even see one quarter of what we are doing in Abia State. Within two years of Governor Orji under the PDP, he has done so much. I do not bother him as state party chairman. I do not say there is money, let’s share. We know that the only way I can move this party forward and redo what I did in 2011 is for him to work for the people. Then I can boast of what he did and ask the electorate to give us another chance; and that we shall improve on what he has done. This is unlike before when the issue was always ‘bring and let’s share’. Things have changed. It is no more a situation where mother and child will sit down somewhere and take a decision, and say that is the decision of the party. Here I disburse money through vouchers. We have a bank account. To audit the account is the easiest thing to do. We have a picture of how the party SOURCE http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com |
Nigerians whose pastime is bickering over oil resources may soon find out that what they consider as the goose that lays the golden eggs will no longer give them the resources to steal from. Oil may soon be selling for far below the 1982 price level. No thanks to President Barack Obama who, during his first term inauguration urged Americans to find a solution to the country’s continued dependence on external oil. Five years down the line, America is almost self- sufficient in oil production and is now turning down offers from traditional suppliers. America is one country where when the government decides on a line of action, it follows through. But in Nigeria, for over two years now, the issue of the Petroleum Industry Bill passage has been with us without progress. While others are busy finding alternative to crude oil as means of energy, Nigeria’s policymakers are busy stealing the little resources available to diversify the economy. Shamefully, just last week, former President of Botswana said at Daily Trust Forum that it amounts to criminal negligence for Nigerian leaders to continue to steal the people’s resources entrusted to them through corrupt practices. Last week, the news wire services were awash with reports that the United States, the highest importer of Nigeria’s crude now gets so much crude from its own shale deposits that Canadian exporters to US are selling as far afield as Europe, showing how deeply the U.S. energy revolution is transforming global oil flows. As recently as 2011, close to 100 per cent of Canada’s crude exports went to its neighbour, the United States, according to the U.S. Government’s Energy Information Administration (EIA). Oil-Report But trade and shipping sources said more than two million barrels of light crude from Canadian offshore oilfields have gone to Europe in the last month, a taste of what is to come. The change is due to technological advances the U.S. expects will bring 900,000 barrels per day (bpd) record jump in its oil output to 7.3 million bpd in 2013, from places like the Bakken shale deposit in North Dakota that now feeds U.S. East Coast refineries served by Canada. While this revolution is taking place in the international oil market, Nigeria’s federal executive arm of government is at war with federal legislators on the right budget benchmark for crude oil, but the oil market equation is fasting changing against Nigeria. While the executive favours the use of $75 per barrel, the legislators pegged the budget at $79. Both parties will soon discover that they have been too optimistic about the international oil market. From the look of things, both sides should review the budget and reduce the benchmark to $60 per barrel. US refineries’ traditional supplier, Nigeria, is to seek alternative customers and is feeling the pinch of the new Canadian competition in its established European markets. Besides Canada, other traditional suppliers to US market will seek customers in Europe and Asia. If most suppliers of crude are now to face a shrinking market in Europe, one thing is sure, the price of crude will nosedive southward, meaning a crash in prices of crude. This apparently will derail the 2013 budget, no doubt. Hitherto, US oil reserves have been too expensive to recover using old technology. New technology of a drilling technique called hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, in which water, sand and chemicals are forced deep underground to drive out trapped oil and gas, have allowed access to millions of barrels of U.S. oil that were previously unattainable. This shale oil is sweet – meaning it has low sulphur levels and is suitable for U.S. refineries – like the Canadian and Nigerian oil it is supplanting. To the average American oil trader, Shale oil is making its way to the east coast of the United States by rail instead of shipping from long distance, so this is backing out offshore sweet east coast Canadian and Nigerian production. For oil traders, the profit margin had widened sufficiently for arbitrage as it allowed for a nominal profit of nearly $1 million on 600,000-barrel shipment. The question is, where is Nigerian NNPC seeking new markets? Apparently as it is with Nigeria, they have gone to sleep until one day, they find that there is no market for Nigeria crude. What then will happen? Federal allocation to states will dwindle, salaries will remain unpaid, Federal Government will borrow and borrow to finance the budget, the deficit will grow wider and the private sector will be crowded out of access to credit. The scary thing is that rising U.S. shale oil output has already started re-routing flows of Nigerian and Algerian light sweet crude oil which used to flow regularly to the United States. U.S. imports of light, sweet crude will fall to virtually zero by 2014, an executive of French energy company, Total’s trading arm predicted in October. This progressive upheaval in crude oil patterns has prompted European refiners to look at changing their slates – lists of suitable crude oil grades for use as feedstock — to adapt. Traders said that the extra volumes of Canadian crude arriving in Europe have depressed prices for Nigerian grades, which have fallen around $1 since early December. Nigeria’s Federal Government functionaries, governors and legislators who have been feeding fat on the proceeds of crude sales should be ready to drink the crude when it returns unsold. The Ogun State Government and the police on Sunday disagreed over the delay in police investigation of the principal of Ajuwon Senior High School, Ajuwon, Rev. Olufunke Aladeojobi, who allegedly conducted virginity tests on pupils of the school. A senior police officer attached to the Ogun State Police Command, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told our correspondent on Sunday that the government had yet to hand over Aladeojobi to them. He said, “It is amazing that Ogun State government has yet to hand her (Aladeojobi) over to us despite the fact that we had an understanding that they would release her to us after they might have concluded their inquiry into the incident. “We (the police) are threading softly because the woman in question is a civil servant and that is why we followed due process again and wrote a strongly worded letter to officials of the state government to release her. They have yet to respond and this development is frustrating our investigation.” However, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Segun Odubela, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, denied the allegation that the state government was impeding police investigation. Odubela, who confirmed that the police wrote them on the issue, said the government had replied the letter. Odubela said, “The government is not in any way hindering the work of the police. The police actually wrote us on this issue and we responded accordingly. The government has finished its inquiry into the incident and decisions have already being made. “The phase we are now is to implement the decisions we made which involves rehabilitating the affected pupils, meeting with the Parent-Teacher Association of the school and the other recommendations. In fact we have put the incident behind us. If the police want her (Aladeojobi), they know where to get her.” When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said he would not give an official comment on the issue until police concluded its investigation. He said, “The police are working with all stakeholders involved in the incident and investigation is still ongoing. The public will be duly informed of the outcome of our findings and decisions when concluded. Aladeojobi was said to have on December 10, 2012, carried out virginity test on a group of 10 pupils. During the test, it was alleged that Aladeojobi, the school’s nurse, Mrs. M.B. Makinde, and another nurse whose name could not be ascertained, dipped their fingers into the pupils’ private parts. But the matter got out of hand when one of the pupils started bleeding after she had been ‘tested’. SOURCE http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com |
Olusola Oladimeji, the driver of the Toyota Sienna that fell off the Third Mainland Bridge into the lagoon on Saturday, has described his escape as a miracle. The father of three said contrary to reports by traffic and emergency officials, he was not on high speed when the incident occurred. Oladimeji, who is a minister of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church, said he was on his way home from work. He said, “I work on the island and I left home for a meeting in the early hours of Saturday. After the monthly environmental sanitation, I started driving back home. “I was driving at the speed of 60km/hr and was on the fast lane because the road was free. At Ebute Meta bypass, I saw two vehicles that had been involved in an accident but I kept on driving. Suddenly, everything went blank, I couldn’t see anything again, and I just found myself in the water.” Oladimeji said he did not lose consciousness in the water and as such, was able to loosen the seat belt. He said in the water, he saw a ray of light and swam towards it. He said, “I was not on high speed. When the car hit the railing of the bridge, the airbag was not released. “After falling into the water, I unfastened the seat belt and noticed that one of the doors of my car had broken off, so I swam out of the vehicle to the surface of the water even though I don’t know how to swim. “It was while I was waving my hand that fishermen saw me and quickly came to my aid. They took me away from the scene and took me to a clinic located on the water where they administered the first aid.” PUNCH Metro learnt that Oladimeji was later taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital where an X-ray scan was conducted on him. “The doctors said that my leg was not fractured. They, however, cast my leg with Plaster of Paris because I had a sprain,” he said. Oladimeji said contrary to what is written on his medical report, he is 43 years old not 53. Our correspondent, who visited the Abule Egba home of the victim, observed members of his church came in droves to felicitate with him. A pastor at MFM, Berkeley Parish, Mrs. Praise Onanuga, said the incident was an indication of the existence of God. She said the victim had just bought the car eight days before the accident. She said, “Brother Oladimeji is the leader of prophetic group and a house fellowship coordinator. He was supposed to have been at a vigil with us the night before but he begged to be excused because of the meeting he was to have on Saturday. “He bought the car just eight days before the accident and we were supposed to do the dedication today (Sunday) but we thank God that we were not put to shame. “We will hold a thanksgiving for him soon because this is a miracle.” SOURCE http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com/2013/01/third-mainland-crash-i-was-not-speeding_700.html

“Same-sex marriage is an anathema to the will of God for human beings to be fruitful, replenish and multiply on earth. Anything contrary to that is evil. “How can a man who marries a fellow man produce a child and how can a woman who marries a fellow woman produce a child? “If this evil is allowed to stay, there will not be newborns again in the world. As the older generation dies, will there be a new generations to succeed it? Even plants and animals have new generations to succeed them.” http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com/2013/01/same-sex-marriage-is-anathema-to-will.html
