abujaniv: Hello iContribute,
There are no appeals in this process. You can reapply but if you were told you had a temporary or permanent ban from entering the United States, this might not be a good use of your resources.
Regards, Abuja NIV Team Thank you. I remember the officer incharge said i can and have the opportunity to re-apply but her statement contradicts what i have doscovered and read from research i.e 5yrs ban. Dont intend to appeal, just seeking expert advice for anyone in my situation, that is if there are anymore needed. Thanks again |

Christianity Etc › Re: 7 Reasons Why People Dont Go To Church by iContribute: 3:13pm On Aug 09, 2015 |
XavierBlue: Back in the early 1990's when Christianity was dominating others forms of religion, a lot of people flock to church. But those numbers seems to reduce over the years. The reasons are put below, though some are assertions.
1. CHURCH ARE FULL OF HYPOCRITE.
No need to debate on this fact as its all clear and decipherable. Perhaps, even in-eradicable. We all say one thing and do the other, we all criticize people and still turn around to indulge in the same acts we were vehemently against. The church is full of this set of people, thus making people lack the desire to go to church. Yes.. I am an hypocrite, but with all due respect, you are also an hypocrite.
2. THE CHURCH IS BORING.
You could chose to debate on this. Since when was the church meant to be entertaining?. Well! The church has witness a dramaticall change over the years, and to some people, this assertion is true.
3. THE CHURCH IS EXCLUSIVE.
The church has an exclusive message, which is for everyone. The thing is, every one knows the message, "jesus brings salvation" etc. So why bothering going to church to hear a repetition of it?. This is also one of the reason why people stay back from church, to them, they know the message the bible and church is relaying.
4. THERE DON'T HAVE TIME.
This is undoubtedly any major point. Simple, they don't have the time or are two busy. People who are on work shift during the weekend also fall into this category. This is priority issue, but a valid reason nonetheless.
5. THEY DON'T HAVE CLOTHES.
Though this shouldn't be an excuse for Christians to stay back from church as they worship the Lord and not men, it is a reason why some people stay back from church. I know of a church that laughs sadornically at members that repeat clothes and attire. The act alone is appaling. Instead of being laughed at, some people choose to stay at home and avert such mortification.
6. LIFE IS BETTER WITHOUT RELIGION.
This is an assertion but With that perspective, people tend to neglect church since its the "pillar" of religion. Going by the norms and commandments of the church by being a Christian are hectic for others. For me, i don't care much about religion but a better relationship with God. Some people that neglect church also hold to this assertion.
7.THE CHURCH WANT YOUR MONEY.
This is undoubtedly another congent reason. If you go to a church that talks more about offering and ransom than sermon, you'd found this a valid point. Maybe the church is faced with financial difficulties. I think The Leaders should do more about praying and trusting, for God will provide. However, am ain't advocating that members shouldnt give to the church but It appalling for leaders to "CHALLENGE" members into giving, it should be a thing of the mind.
If you have a different perception of the amazing nature of the God who created you, you should find ways to reorganize your priorities around such a wonderful God.
Written by moi. Lalasticlala.
Xavierblue Very valid points but not enough for people not to attend church. Does it mean because schools, including higher institutions of learning are flooded with all manner of people from different backgrounds which makes them dangerous and unsafe mean that people should have stopped going there to learn? Or because your place of work is full of weird people that make you sad should be enough reason for you not to go and make your daily bread? We all know politics is dangerous but people still pursue positions even well practlng born gain christians. My point is, there are no reasons strong enough for anyone not to attend church, just go there and focus on what you are there for and who you are there to serve. God is moved by intentions and he will surely bless you (Jeremiah 17:10). |

Brother, i just taya for them o! The world have now made it seem like going to the US is a ticket to heaven! Phew.. Honestly it was painful what happened but their agression and scrutiny at the POE amazed me. I have lived abroad in the past, i understand what you mean sir.. Goldenboy007: Hey man, you do not seems to be too bothered about it judging by all your replies. Oya talk true, what was your intention really? Do you have a job in Nigeria ? A rational person would wonder why you had an option to stay longer if you had a job to return to? However that aside, I like your spirit on how you handle the disappointment. My brother walahi no big deal here jare, I live in US and I don't really see the hype. You are not missing anything jo. Why do people want to holiday in US sef? For bragging rights? Some African countries have the best tourist attractions, Chicago is not different from what you will see in Lagos, infact I miss that Ojota bustop chaos, thats life men !!! After being here for sometime, my ideal holidaying spot isn't another western country, probably Africa, SA, Middle East, etc. Somewhere I can be closer to nature !!! |

Very True. Not even just being ready to answers questions regarding change of plans, they should also be ready to back those changes up with strong surporting evidence i.e print outs, photocopies and what have you. ycoxyng: Like to share a personal story and I hope it will help folks travelling to USA. My wife and kids where delayed up to 3 Hours at Dallas Dallas Ft Worth Intl. she was questioned on all manners of things before she was allowed in. one particular question they asked her that cut my attention was why is she visiting Dallas and not California as claimed in her application form despite the fact that we all travelled to California last year. I think people should be ready to answer questions as to change of destination particularly first timer. Also, she said half of the people on the plane were sent to secondary inspection both whites and blacks. |

Thanks for the compliment, i appreciate it. I will be more than willing to tour Africa with like minded people. Next stop on my mind 'Zanzibar' Please lets keep in touch. Cheers milychocs: Hi Why dont you discover our Africa? I think what happened can become a blessing for you....
I intend to immerse myself in African countries, living in different countries for at least two weeks in each, not being all touristy and the like, but really getting to know these places, and their people.... Would be cheaper too
You know what? Just ignore me....I tend to do this a lot...become preachy about Africa Cheers and I like your spirit! |

I am not bothered about being away from the US for 5years, i am only concerned about how it could affect my future travel plan to other countries in regards to work, business or leisure. Besides they only acted on their own accord, God has the final say. Ogbeche77: Open ticket for a period of 6 months and you're a first time traveller to the US on a B1? You already gave them the impression you have no definite plan in the US.. I doubt if there is anyway to appeal this.. you just have to serve the 5 years ban |

Thank you for your response. I really appreciate your time. So everyone that gets a 214 7 a (i) (I) of the ina code gets a 5year ban!!! #Sigh LagosNIV: Yes, as a VO I am aware that you can change your destination. What you seemed to miss in my statement was that it would raise additional scrutiny.
If you are supposed to visit somone in NY, how are you just now finding out that they are in Nevada? Try it at your own risk, but thousands of people get turned around every day for lying on their visa applications to get through that process and then showing up at the POE where they really wanted to live. |

I did not make a joke of the whole process. I just threw in one or two jokes to calm the situation because to me they were handling the whole thing at a level i founf confusing.. manifest: You made a complete joke of the whole process. If I were an IO I wouldn't let you in either. The visa you get from nigeria is a license to travel. The stamp at the point of entry is the real visa.
All the best.

is she coming for the first time? why is she visiting? Basically, my advice is to make sure she follows exactly what she filed on her ds-160 form before she was granted her visa. she responses to the questions she will be asked at the POE must tally with what she filed. she will not have any problems, relax. She should carry evidence of any possible questions she might be asked and she should carry cash too. Miami11: I need advice for my mum, what should I tell her. She is coming directly to Dallas |

i was not trying to be clever, neither did i lie. However, i took alot for granted probably because i had good intentions. I just wanted to have a good time in the country. worry357: The most important lesson for others to learn is that the OP. tried to be clever with the entry officer instead of giving a simple, honest answer.
It was a very expensive lesson for him. |

I had a return ticket open for 6months and i was willing to buy another return ticket depending on how long will be stamped on my visa.. Ogbeche77: You are on point.. For example.. if he had a return ticket that says, he will return on 4th August, he just had to state it to them, either way, he will still get a 6month right of stay from the visa officer even if he intend not to stay that long.. My guess is that OP had a return ticket that extended beyond a 6 month duration, I may be wrong.. |

spykid014: Hmmmm... iContribute, sorry about your visa cancellation. I think what gave you away was your return ticket date not corresponding with when you wanted to leave the US, I mean you weren't even sure when you will be back home. And you making a joke when the guy @ the POE wasn't even ready for that.
If you can, let us know the POE this was at and the airline you flew.
Sorry once again, I hope it's not a 5year ban sha... 5 years is a LONG time!!! |

Xerum: Op,
Sorry to hear about your predicament. I like the way you are dealing with it though. It apparently shows you had no ulterior motives. Unfortunately, the circumstances you found yourself in had a very unfortunate outcome for you.
Yeah, I do hear that a lot about the aggressive treatment giving to people at the POE in America.
I do understand they are trying to fish out people who are likely to abuse their temporaty visa’s and remain permanently in the U.S. is that then a reason to treat most people visitng your country as potential criminal? Despite the fact that 90% percent of the tourists are genuine visitors.
The other time, a friend of mine travelled from here (The Netherlands) with his daughter, a teenager as tall as her father. They were like delayed & questioned for over an hour, shouting and intimidating them like: “are you sure he is your dad!” are you sure she is your daughter! bla bla.
Part of the reasons, I have not visited the place till now. Yeah, I know dem no miss me, me self no miss them. There are other places in the world I go to enjoy my money and peace. Where I do not get shouted at just because I am visitng the country and coming to spend my money. Thanks. Infact, i am busy at the moment, your comment made me log-in. You are very correct. Their agression ehnnn! I was just too shocked. They did not even let me speak and explain how it all happened. I have travelled to other countries and the immigration officers listen, this ons did not want to hear jack! They stopped families, singles, couples, business men and women from all works of life. It was a bad experience, i was just calm and i was still smiling at everything (because i kind of found it funny, like i was watching a film). I will still start another thread to warn first timers. They search my luggage, open it till they saw the name of the manufacturers( you can tell the level at which they search). They collected my phone, read ALL my messages and emails and what have you. My brother, i just taya! I was just looking at them. When they were satisfied they made their judgement. I think at somepoint they were going to let me through but after speaking with others especially one short woman that was like the chief immigration officer. Everything just scattered. I even had a chat with an italian couple that was in the same situation while we were waiting, they read on her phone that she was discussing about working on a B1/B2 visa with a friend and she had visited before. Some people even cry sef. I was just looking. Its easy to type and speak about it now but back then everything happened as a surprise to me. I'll be back. |
