Travel / Best Places To Visit In Tanzania by iconzmagazine(m): 10:20am On Oct 24, 2018
Want to go on Tanzania safaris? Tanzania is a very good destination to visit for safaris. It is one of the most popular countries in the world for wildlife safaris. It is the only destination where you will see the big five game animals at a close range. This can be experienced at Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. Please find the best places to visit in Tanzania below;

1 - Serengeti National Park

Few people forget their first encounter with the Serengeti National Park. Perhaps it's the view from Naabi Hill at the park's entrance, from where the grasslands appear to stretch to the ends of the earth. Or maybe it's a coalition of lions stalking across open plains, their manes catching the breeze. Or it could be wildebeest and zebra migrating in their millions, following the ancient rhythm of Africa's seasons. Whatever it is, welcome to one of the greatest wildlife-watching destinations on earth.

2 - Ngorongoro Crater

At 19km wide and with a surface of 264 sq km, Ngorongoro Crater is one of the largest unbroken calderas in the world that isn’t a lake. Its steep walls soar 400m to 610m and provide the setting for an incredible natural drama, as prey and predators graze and stalk their way around the open grasslands, swamps and acacia woodland on the crater floor. It's such an impressive sight that, other vehicles aside, you'll wonder whether you've descended into a wildlife paradise.

There are plenty of hippos around the lovely Ngoitoktok Springs picnic site, and Lake Magadi attracts flocks of flamingos to its shallows in the rainy season. Lereal Forest (which has a less appealing picnic site, and is the starting point for the Lereal or Lerai ascent road) is good for elephants, of which there are 200 to 300 in the crater. Predators include around 600 spotted hyenas, 55 lions (at last count), and both golden and black-backed jackals. These predators are sustained by large numbers of resident herbivores, with wildebeest, zebras, buffaloes and Grant's gazelles the most common. Less commonly seen are elands, warthogs, hartebeests, bushbucks, waterbucks and bohor reedbucks. Around 20% of the wildebeest and zebras migrate annually between the crater and the Serengeti. Another huge drawcard is the chance to see the critically endangered black rhino – around 30 inhabit the crater floor, and they're most often seen between the Lereal Forest and the Lemala ascent-descent road.

3 - Mount Kilimanjaro

Since its official opening in 1977, Mt Kilimanjaro National Park has become one of Tanzania’s most visited parks. Unlike the other northern parks, this isn’t a place to come for the wildlife, although it’s there. Rather, you come here to gaze in awe at a snowcapped mountain on the equator, and to climb to the top of Africa. At the heart of the park is the 5896m Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain and one of the continent’s most magnificent sights.

4 - Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara National Park is one of Tanzania’s smaller and most underrated parks. While it may lack the size and variety of other northern-circuit destinations (there's pretty much one main north–south route through the park), its vegetation is diverse, ranging from savannah to marsh to evergreen forest (11 ecosystems in all) and it supports one of the highest biomass densities of large mammals in the world.

5 - Tarangire National Park

Welcome to one of Africa's most underrated parks. Thanks to its proximity to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, Tarangire is usually assigned only a day visit as part of a larger northern-circuit itinerary. But it deserves a whole lot more, at least in the dry season. This is a place where elephants dot the plains like cattle, and where lion roars and zebra barks fill the night, all set against a backdrop of constantly changing scenery.
Travel / About Virunga National Park by iconzmagazine(m): 7:39am On Mar 28, 2018
DRC's magnificent calling card is Virunga National Park, Africa's oldest national park and home to mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and the incredible, active Nyiragongo volcano, which can be climbed on a thrilling two-day expedition. Having been the subject of the Oscar-nominated documentary Virunga in 2014, the park has been growing fast in popularity and its management team has risen to the challenge by impressively improving its accommodation and facilities. Do not miss this incredible place.

You'll either need to make arrangements directly with the park or book a tour with a travel agency to come to Virunga. Most tours begin and end in Goma, and due to the high cost of staying overnight in the park, many visitors base themselves in Goma and do day trips into the park. There is no public transport to the park and you'll need your own 4WD vehicle and driver to visit.

Virunga gorilla trekking tours offer an equally nice gorilla safari adventure like the other two countries. Virunga is a great place for budget gorilla trekking tours.
Travel / Why Go On Congo Safaris by iconzmagazine(m): 10:08am On Feb 26, 2018
Known for its breadth of biodiversity and natural richness, which includes the largest area of primary rainforest in Africa, a Congo safari may be off the trodden path somewhat, but this often results in a friendly welcome and some heart-warming interactions with the local people, who are genuinely unaccustomed to, and fascinated by, foreign visitors.

IN THE REPUBLIC OF CONGO THERE IS LOTS OF POTENTIAL FOR EXPLORATION FOR PIONEERING EXPLORERS LOOKING FOR A UNIQUE AFRICAN EXPERIENCE.

A stunning area to go on safari - but perhaps not one for the first time African traveller, the Republic of Congo offers some amazing wildlife viewing. Access to track the only habituated lowland gorillas, wild chimpanzees, forest bais full of elephants and a variety of other endemic forest fauna and flora makes this a must-see destination for the exploratory traveller.

Culturally, the Congolese have rich traditions that remain important in their modern day world and a real sense of character and charm owing to their French colonial heritage. French is also the national language, but there is a strong sense of African identity that coexists alongside this, no more evident than in the capital city of Brazzaville, where the hustle and bustle of market life prevails, children play in the streets and the balmy nights provide an atmospheric African setting. The city is set along the banks of a riverfront where traders busily go about their business and canoes float past lazily.
Travel / How To Get A Free Gorilla Permit In Rwanda by iconzmagazine(m): 3:19pm On Nov 06, 2017
With tourism being one of the biggest revenue sources of the economy, Rwanda hosts so many travelers each year for safaris. Gorilla tracking is the prime activity of the tourism industry and accounts for over 90% of the safaris carried out in this country. However, when Rwanda increased their permit prices, so many tourists now book Kigali to Bwindi gorilla trekking tours. You can read more about them here: http://ugandatravelblog.com/travel-ideas/gorilla-trekking-in-uganda-from-kigali-rwanda/

Mountain Gorillas are the face of Rwanda’s tourism and should be your main reason to visit as well. If you already have a gorilla trekking trip scheduled, we can then roll back to the main theme of this article “Getting a free gorilla permit in Rwanda”.

Since May 2017, Rwanda gorilla permits now cost a fixed price of $1500 each irrespective of the season and nationality. Previously, the price was $750 and favored so many travelers; especially shoestring trekkers.

However, this is not the case apparently because not everyone can afford the $1500 for a permit reason why they often resort to trekking in Bwindi Forest National Park in Uganda where permits cost $450 and $600 for low and high seasons respectively.

I have trekked before and know the hustle plus the urge to see the gentle giants, especially in a top destination like Rwanda hence, I thought I would come up with a piece about getting free Rwanda gorilla tracking permits.

Rwanda is apparently the best destination for Gorilla trekking in the world as claimed so many media houses. Uganda is a great destination and has more numbers, but the good road network, heavy marketing and short distance between Kigali City and Volcanoes National Park have long made tourists to prefer Rwanda to Uganda.

This sounds unbelievable but is true. If an operator is registered with RTTA (Rwanda Tours and Travel Association) and purchases 10 permits at once from Rwanda Development Board, he gets one free. Unfortunately, no tour operator is willing to give away the free permit to another client and always count the bonus as a profit to their business.

We deviate from this and have decided to always give away the free permit to lucky clients who book a gorilla trek through this article. Imagine spending only $500 on your gorilla tracking safari? Yes, we are ready to go as low as that.

Our subsidiary company, Explore Rwanda Tours is the one running this promotion but booking through Achieve Global Safaris will guarantee you the same offer.

The more bookings we receive, the more free permits we shall be able to give out. If the luck is on your side; you could enjoy this offer.
Please also note that this is only available to visitors who prefer to visit Rwanda gorillas. For Uganda, the best we can do is give you discounted permits only for the low season and if your tracking date matches with the exact date of a permit that is advertised for resale. Please contact us below.
Travel / Where Is Volcanoes National Park Located In Rwanda? by iconzmagazine(m): 9:20am On Sep 18, 2017
Volcanoes National Park (http://volcanoesparkrwanda.org), which runs along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda, is home to the Rwandan section of the Virungas. Comprising five volcanoes, the Virungas are utterly spellbinding and few would argue that this is not one of the most exciting national parks in Africa. Of all the extraordinary sights and attractions around the Virungas, the one that really draws people here are the mountain gorillas.

While most travellers are understandably driven by the desire to have a face-to-face encounter with real gorillas in the mist, rare golden monkeys, a troop of which have been habituated to human contact, can also be visited. There are a variety of rewarding climbing and trekking options in the park, too. To get the most from the Virungas give yourself as much time as you possibly can, as this is a park that absolutely rewards those who linger.

This National Park is located in Musanze, Rwanda. Book a safari here: http://africangorilla.com/rwanda/
Travel / Comparing Gorilla Trekking In Uganda, Congo And Rwanda by iconzmagazine(m): 1:45pm On Aug 17, 2017
Gorilla tours are apparently the most selling type of tours in Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. Thousands of tourists visit these three countries for gorilla trekking but apparently most of the gorilla tours take place in Uganda and Rwanda. This review article describes mountain gorillas, talks about gorilla tracking and compared the experience of this activity in each of the three countries. Most tourists nowadays opt for gorilla trekking Uganda from kigali.

Please check out my Uganda Gorilla Trekking Review or Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Review for better analysis. Briefly, Mountain gorillas (Gorilla Berengei Berengei) are the most endangered animals in the world, this is because of their habitat loss, poaching and war in the areas they live in. They are very fascinating and rare primates that cannot be easily found anywhere in the world. However, you can only find and see them in Africa, in countries of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their conservation status has put them in the lime light and every traveler to Africa has developed a feeling of having a glance at them before their extinction. Despite their endangered status of poaching, habitat loss and war where they live, recently conservation efforts have found success when conservation measures reversed the decline and started them on a road to recovery. This increased their population from 620 in 1989 to 880 today.

You can also book your safari with http://gogreensafari.com or http://gorillasinbwindi.com

Where to find Mountain Gorillas

Countries of Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo as the only places to find and see the mountain gorillas, have also given tourists a one life time opportunity to encounter these unique creatures in their national parks of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for Uganda gorilla safaris, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Volcanoes National Park for Rwanda gorilla safaris and Virunga National Park respectively. Mgahinga national park, volcanoes national park and virunga national park are found on the Virunga Mountains. Unlike Bwindi national park which is lies in the south western Uganda on the edge of the rift valley. The best Africa gorilla safaris are experienced within three of these national parks excluding Mgahinga. Rwanda is good for luxury gorilla trekking safaris.

For adventurous tourists, Uganda gives you the highest advantage in doing a gorilla trekking activity compared to the neighboring Volcanoes National park in Rwanda and finally Virunga National park in Congo.

Comparing Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Gorilla Trekking

One of the reasons of trekking Uganda mountain gorillas is that, Uganda is recognized as the safest and more secure gorilla trekking destination in East Africa where you can view the gorilla in a Serene surrounding compared to Congo. Trekking gorillas in Congo is not recommended because there are political and military instabilities and bushmeat poaching infiltration of the park and official corruption especially in the Eastern part of Congo in both en route to the park and within the park itself. This has caused the frequently poached gorillas to move to the Uganda or Rwanda sides of national parks in the Virunga Mountains giving Uganda an upper hand for trekking. I would say a 3 days Uganda gorilla safari beats the rest in terms of numbers.

Gorilla trekking in Uganda takes place in Bwindi Impenetrable national park and Mgahinga national park. In Mgahinga national park, the gorillas are mainly found in the mid vegetation on the Virunga Volcanoes of Mount Muhavura especially in the open areas of the bamboo zone. Trekking gorillas in this park was difficult since the gorillas used to go back and forth to Rwanda making it inconsistent for the activity yet there is only one gorilla family called the Nyakagezi group. However currently, trekking gorillas in Mgahinga is carried out and it is rewarding as you will go through the volcanic hills which offer the impressive views of the lakes below Kisoro sub region, Kigezi highlands and the impenetrable forest of Bwindi. So tourists are rest assured of finding them if they choose to trek the Mgahinga gorilla group.

Bwindi Impenetrable national park has higher levels of trekking the mountain gorillas compared to Virunga mountains national parks. This is because of the difference in the nature of their landscapes. Bwindi impenetrable national park is a rain forest with thick and dense undergrowth and varying landscapes which make it an impenetrable forest. The terrain is very challenging as it is hilly with steep slopes and narrow valleys, with beautiful birds singing all over the forest, keeping in mind that Bwindi is one of the birding destinations in Africa according to Africa bird club. You will have experience of both uphill and downhill on your hike before you locate the gorillas.
Uganda has half of the remaining gorillas in the world. The current population puts the total number of mountain gorillas at 880 individuals and 412 of them live in Uganda’s Bwindi and Mgahinga national parks while the remaining 468 individuals are shared by Rwanda and Congo. Democratic Republic of Congo has the least number of mountain gorillas due to political instability and massive poaching practices in Virunga national park. However Congo has over 100,000 lowland gorillas and to see them, you will have to go Odzala-kokoua national park in the Northern part of Congo near the border with Gabon. This makes Uganda a better option for trekking in Bwindi and Mgahinga since it will be easy to locate the gorillas due to their high population.
Uganda currently has 12 gorilla families available for trekking compared to neighboring Congo with 5 gorilla families. Mgahinga has 1 gorilla family called the Nyakagezi group while the remaining 11 are found in different regions of Bwindi. Bwindi impenetrable national park has 4 different regions each with several habituated mountain gorillas groups. In the Eastern part of the park, lies Ruhija region with 2 habituated gorilla families. These include the Oruzogo and Bitukura gorilla groups. In the North, there lies Buhoma region with 3 habituated mountain gorillas families, these include the Rushegura, Mubare also known as M Group and Habinyanja also called H Group. In the South, there lies Nkuringo region with 1 habituated mountain gorilla family called Nkuringo gorilla group. In Rushaga region, there are 5 gorilla groups, these include Nshogi, Mishaya, kahungye, Busingye and Bweza gorilla groups. Mubare group in Buhoma was the very first group to be habituated for trekking by tourists, habituation started in 1991 and started receiving visitors in 1993. Nsongi gorilla group in Rushaga region is the largest with 25 individuals. However, 10 individuals left to form Mishaya gorilla group. So if you are one of those tourists who would like to trek several times, Uganda will give you an opportunity to do so. This is because the regions are quit different from each other. Uganda Wildlife Authority requires a group of 6-8 people to visit a given gorilla group per day.
If you are an adventurous tourist and you want to see more of the country and go somewhere a bit off the beaten path, you are recommended to go to Uganda. To visit the mountain gorillas in Bwindi for example is 526kms that is about 8 to 10 hours whole day drive by road from Entebbe and 2 hours by charter flights from Entebbe. The drive is however so rewarding since it involves scenic encounters en route along the Western part of the countryside. The western part of Uganda is the most scenic and dramatic region with spectacular features providing adventurous experience. The landscape is surrounded by many crater lakes and covered by plantations like tea plantation, savannah vegetation, tropical rainforests, farmlands and views of hills and mountains. The Uganda Equator stop at kayabwe along masaka road enables you to justify the geographical division between the northern and southern hemisphere. Ankole lands in Mbarara is also rewarding where you will find the beautiful long horned cows grazing along the road giving you an impression of what it has to offer, earning it a dub as the land of milk and honey. A stopover at Igongo cultural center for a traditional lunch gives you an opportunity to explore Ugandan dishes and visiting the Ankole museum enables you to know the cultural background of that region. The western region has 8 of the 10 national parks in the country, each national park with its own unique flora and fauna attractions. En route to Bwindi for gorilla trekking will give you a wide opportunity for more adventure in other national parks. For example, enjoy and experience a boat cruise and game viewing including the climbing lions as a unique feature in Queen Elizabeth, the big five and the great Murchison falls in Murchison falls, game viewing and horseback safaris in Lake Mburo national parks, Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale national park, hot springs and birdwatching in Semuliki national park, Golden monkeys in Mgahinga national park and hiking and mounting at Rwenzori mountains national park.

Trekking the mountain gorillas in Uganda comes with seasonal offers. These include high and low seasons. A gorilla permit to trek the mountain gorillas in Bwindi or Mgahinga national parks cost USD 600 per person per day for high seasons despite the inconsistency of gorillas in Mgahinga national park. During low seasons in the months of April, May and November, Uganda Wildlife Authority offers discounted rate permits for gorilla trekking at USD 450 per person. Trekking in both seasons not only rewarding but also gives one full value for their money since the experience is the same compared to neighboring Congo.
While other societies consider gorilla habituation as unethical because it exposes gorillas to human presence interfering with nature and increasing risks of contagious disease infection to mountain gorillas. In addition making them venerable to poaching. Uganda has an option of gorilla habituation experience allowing a maximum of four people to visit. This visit is done after strict briefing about the dos and don’ts when trekking the mountain gorillas. A knowledgeable guide is allocated to ensure that tourist not only enjoy the experience by also follow the rules and regulations during the activity. The gorilla habituation experience permit is USD 1500 per person. This activity is best for tourists who wish to spend a lot of time with the endangered mountain gorillas in the wild, this gives you a chance to widely study and learn their behavior since the activity is a full day experience.
About Mountain Gorillas
The endangered mountain gorilla is one of the subspecies of the gorilla. The other subspecies is the lowland gorillas, it is a specie most often found in zoos. Note that there are no mountain gorillas in captivity, making them the most sought animals in the world. The names of the subspecies reflect their habitat: lowland gorillas live in montane forests while mountain gorillas live at high elevations of up to 10,000 feet on the slopes of volcanoes. The lowland gorillas can be found on lowland forests and prefer living in thick rain forests of Central Africa in countries of Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, Gabon, Central African Republic and in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Odzal-kokoau National Park (one of the oldest national park in Africa covered by 1,360million hectares of pristine rainforest).
In description, the male mountain gorillas are usually twice the size of the female, they can be 6 foot tall and weigh 350-500 pounds. They are simply strong with muscular long arms. The males are called silverback because their hair on the back gets a silver color as they mature. The males’ strength is 10 times stronger and its arms stretch out long. The mountain gorillas have longer and darker hair since they live in colder climate at much higher altitude compared the lowland gorillas that tend to be smaller and have brownish-grey coats and a pronounced brown ridge. The mountain gorillas have a life span of 40 to 50 years of age.
Mountain gorillas are herbivores, feeding on plants like wild celery, thistle, and nettles about 150 various plants. Special trees are bamboo and bracket fungus. Their food plants grow profusely in the cool, moist mountain climate of their range in Rwanda, Congo and Uganda. During the rainy season because the bamboos are tender and green, the bamboo shoots contain 84% of water with an extra of trocatea, flowers, stems, roots, soft bamboo leaves as well as the dry season black berries that act as a delicacy for the mountain gorillas. There is more movement if there is scarcity of food, it may be hard to easily spot the gorillas. Again during the rainy season, the mountain gorillas are dormant with less activity to do. The gorillas move from one place to another looking for food, sometimes plants and trees change with the weather. Adult mountain gorillas feed on about 60 pounds of vegetation daily.
While it is true that they are large, powerful and very strong creatures, mountain gorillas are also affectionate, gentle, shy and easygoing creatures that live a peaceful and playful life. They live in groups that can vary in 2 to 30 to 40 but most are in groups of around 10. There is no mating season and babies are born all year long. Males start breeding at about 15 years and females give birth from 10 to 12 years old. They give birth every 2 to 3 years giving 4 to 6 off springs during lifespan. Large males patiently allow young gorillas to climb all over them without a murmur of protest, about 11yeras of age, the males leave their group. They communicate by sounds such as grunts, shouts and roars, 25 sounds have been recognized by researchers. Since the gorillas share a lot with humans, you will be surprised by the way the mother gorillas look after its younger one, their relationship and close bond created usually lasts for about 4 years. After the four years, the female can conceive again. A mother gorilla is acknowledged to have close to six babies with a time frame of four years. When the gorillas get to their sexual maturity, they want to move out of the group and form a new one as they mate with others. Mountain gorillas are habituated that is they are accustomed to people a process that takes about 2 years. They are not aggressive towards humans unless they are threatened.

Travel / Are Green Safaris The Way To Go In 2017? by iconzmagazine(m): 1:41pm On Jul 04, 2017
Green tourism is the term used to describe best environmental practice within the tourism sector. It covers issues such as business efficiency, environmental management, waste, transport, as well as topics like social responsibility and biodiversity. Nowadays it is like conserving the environment matters more and people are resorting to green safaris. Question is, isnt it the way to go nowadays?

I recently booked a green Uganda safari with 1000 Shades of Green Tours and Safaris Limited and i felt good because i was giving back to the tourism sector and environment too. What is your take guys?
Travel / How Much Do You Know About Queen Elizabeth National Park? by iconzmagazine(m): 1:02pm On Jul 03, 2017
Queen Elizabeth Park Uganda is in southwest Uganda. Leopards roam the Mweya Peninsula, which lies beside Lake Edward. Nearby Lake Katwe is a huge volcanic explosion crater. Boats on the Kazinga Channel float past hippos and Nile crocodiles. Chimpanzees inhabit the Kyambura Gorge. Trails lead to bat caves in the central Maramagambo Forest. The Ishasha area is home to tree-climbing lions and shoebill storks. Queen is one of the best destinations for Uganda safaris

The area currently occupied by the Queen Elizabeth National Park was previously a grazing area for local Basongora pastoralists. When British explorers Stanley and Lugard toured the area towards the end of last century, both reported the area to have been largely depopulated as a result of cattle raiding (from the Bunyoro and Buganda kingdoms) and epidemics of rinderpest and smallpox. The Basongora social economy could not recover from these events and with the exception of remnant villages around the two lakes, the area was almost completely depopulated. Those who did remain were forced to turn to fishing. These events allowed the game populations to increase and vegetation to change significantly, and played an important role in determining the creation of the national park by the Protectorate administration. In 1906, the area to the north of Lake George was declared a Game Reserve, in order to prevent what some administrators believed to be unregulated hunting by Africans and Europeans and growing pressure for development of cotton and wheat production.

By 1912, the whole of the Lake George and Ishasha areas (Lake George Game Reserve) were declared restricted areas, agricultural and fishing communities moved out to other non-affected areas and the area was largely abandoned. Further outbreaks of sleeping sickness continued up until the mid 1930s. The National Park Ordinance was passed on 31st March 1952 and Queen Elizabeth National Park then, Kazinga National Park was legally gazetted later that year, following intense lobbying by the Chief Game Warden of that time, Bruce Kinloch, and the Governor. As a result, the land area protected within the Lake George Game Reserve area was expanded considerably to include a large area to the east of Lake Edward and Kazinga Channel.

Safari activities in Queen Elizabeth National Park? Tourists can go on Queen Elizabeth national Park Safari any time throughout the year, although conditions in the park are more difficult during the rainy season and it is usually advisable to use 4x4 vehicles to access the park. Available tourist accommodation includes lodges notably Mweya Safari Lodge, Kyambura Game Lodge, Kyambura Gorge Lodge, Enganzi Lodge, Jacana Safari Lodge, Katara Lodge, Ihamba Safari Lodge, and alternative budget accommodation at Simba Safari Camp and the Mweya Hostel.

The major tourist activities in the park include game viewing typically around the kasenyi area and game drives in the Ishasha sector in search of the tree climbing lions, chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura Gorge and the nearby Kalinzu forest reserve, Launch cruise along the Kazinga channel rewards you with sights of a diversity of bird species as well as wildlife, there are also forest walks in the Maramagambo forest which has a bat cave. Queen Elizabeth national Park is surrounded by communities where cultural interactions are possible.

Seek advice from your local Uganda safari operator on how best you can access the park as well as how to pay for any of the activities you wish to get involved in. For those interested in Chimpanzee tracking, note that the permits are booked at the Uganda Wildlife Authority offices in Kampala and it is on first come first served basis.
Travel / Reasons Why Travelling To Rwanda Should Be On Your Bucket List by iconzmagazine(m): 10:50am On Jun 02, 2017
This beautiful country is nestled between hills and valleys with most of the land used for agriculture. The East African country is also full of natural heritage sites which are declared by UNESCO. Rwanda is enriched with many natural resources including awe-inspiring mountains, mountain gorillas that attract Rwanda Gorilla Tours and pristine lakes. The country is also shrouded in a painful past with several memorials giving testament to the massacre, and attracting many visitors. Rwanda Safaris Adventures are the way to go nowadays.

We highlight seven (of the many) places to explore in this naturally beautiful country, and why you should visit Rwanda for a Rwanda safari:

1. Explore Rwanda’s cool capital, Kigali

Far from being haunted by its unrestrained past, Kigali is quietly getting on with it. Rwanda’s capital is alive with trendy new bars, restaurants and hotels. Clean and composed, Kigali is very safe city and its rising skyline reflects the country’s lofty ambitions. You can also visit Akagera National Park.

Akagera National Park is located in Kigali and is a safari park along the eastern boarder of Rwanda. It offers a traditional East African safari, although not the largest of the parks in east Africa. It contains most of the mammals of Africa, including elephant, buffalo, hippos and giraffe. A small number of lions and leopards are seen at the park. In addition, visitors can enjoy the 530 spicies of birds, including red-faced barbets and shoebills.

2. Visit Rwanda: Chill out in Kibuye

Located on the limpid shores of Lake Kivu, this idyllic resort is a perfect place to unwind. It’s also constantly beautiful: steep, forested slopes rise from crystalline waters, which are dotted with canoes and fishing boats. The town itself is full of character, with a lively market, a mushrooming range of hotels and restaurants right on the shore. It’s a great place for swimming, kayaking or just kicking back.

Lake Kivu is considered as one of the best natural views of Rwanda. It runs for about 100 kilometres along the western border of Rwanda and Congo. Lake Kivu is the highest lake in Africa and flows about 1460 metres high from the ground.

3. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park is Rwanda’s biggest tourist attraction – and tops many a nature lover’s bucket list. It is one of the best Rwanda Adventures you can ever be part of. Those lucky enough to obtain permits are assigned guides and armed guards (to protect them from marauding buffalo) and get to spend an unbelievable hour observing one of the habituated gorilla families.

Volcanoes National Park is a forest surrounded park in the Virunga Mountains. This mountain acts as a border between the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and the Uganda. Tourists can see about 75 mammals including elephants and buffaloes here.

4. Pass by Nyanza

While on the western circuit, stop at Nyanza – the historical capital houses the palace of the former King of Rwanda. The area has a collection of three ‘palaces’ – the first is the traditional grass thatched palace, the second is the blockhouse where the King lived and the third was constructed after the King visited Belgium. Regrettably, he never lived in it as he was exiled after the abolition of the monarchy in favour of central government.

5. Be an intellectual of African culture

The intellectual capital of the country, Butare is home to Rwanda’s national university. The most prominent tourist attraction here is the superb National Museum, which houses perhaps the finest ethnographic collection in East Africa. This museum contains so many symbols of African culture and life.

6. Walk in the clouds in Nyungwe Forest

Opened in 2010, this lofty canopy walk is the first of its kind in the region. Flying a hair-raising 50 metres above the forest floor, this swaying walkway is not for the faint-hearted, but it does offer superb views across the rainforest canopy and, if you are lucky, you might come face to face with rare birds. Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of the largest remaining high-altitude rainforests in Africa and is home to the world’s largest troop of colobus monkeys, which have a distinctive black and white colouring. A trek to spot them could have you surrounded by hundreds of the pretty primates, as well as chimpanzees, which are often suspended high up in ficus trees.

7. Pay your respects at the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre

In 1994 about one million Tutsis and scores of Hutus – the two main groups in Rwanda – were murdered during the horrifying Rwandan Genocide. The Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre pays tribute to these victims (many of who are buried in a mass grave outside), and chronicles the events that led to the slaughter. It’s heart breaking, of course, but there are uplifting tales amongst the austerity.

All great reasons to plan your next trip to east Africa, and visit Rwanda or Uganda for a Uganda safari.

I haven't really seen so many Nigerians visit Uganda or Rwanda for gorilla trekking. In fact, i run a tour and travel company but i have never gotten any Nigerian client for the last so many years. Just in case, you could travel using Rwanda Gorilla Tours or Uganda Safaris Tours, they offer equally nice travel services.
Travel / Visitors To Bwindi Forest National Park Have Increased by iconzmagazine(m): 9:08am On May 19, 2017
The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a biodiverse, mountainous area in southwest Uganda. It's home to many of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, who feed on roots, leaves and fruits from the park’s many tree and fern species. You will definitely love it when you go on a 3 days uganda gorilla safari. Restricted numbers of viewing permits help protect the endangered gorilla families. In the park, rough paths weave amid dense forests, which are home to many butterflies and birds. This is where Uganda gorilla tours take place from.

The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP) is in south-western Uganda. The park is part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and is situated along the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) border next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the Albertine Rift. Composed of 331 square kilometres (128 sq mi) of both montane and lowland forest, it is accessible only on foot. BINP is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization-designated World Heritage Site.[1][2]

Species diversity is a feature of the park.[3] It provides habitat for 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos, and many endangered species. Floristically, the park is among the most diverse forests in East Africa, with more than 1,000 flowering plant species, including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns. The northern (low elevation) sector has many species of Guineo-Congolian flora, including two endangered species, the brown mahogany and Brazzeia longipedicellata. In particular, the area shares in the high levels of endemisms of the Albertine Rift.

The park is a sanctuary for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, and many birds such as hornbills and turacos. It is most notable for the 340[4] Bwindi gorillas, half of the world's population of the critically endangered mountain gorillas. Four habituated mountain gorilla groups are open to tourism: Mubare; Habinyanja; Rushegura near Buhoma; and the Nkuringo group at Nkuringo.

Ever since Rwanda increased the price of it's Rwanda gorilla trekking permits, visitors to Bwindi have steadily increased.
Travel / When To Visit Uganda For Uganda Safaris by iconzmagazine(m): 3:46pm On May 05, 2017
Looking for the best time to visit Uganda for Uganda safaris? Uganda is situated along the Equator, and enjoys a tropical climate with very little temperature variations throughout the year. There are 2 seasons, the wet and the dry season. When planning your trip, the main factor in determining your timing will be the pattern of rainfall during the wet season. In the south the wettest month is April with rainy seasons stretching from April to May and October to November. The wet season in the north is from April to October with the rest of the year fairly dry with lower humidity. When you go on Uganda Safaris Adventure during the dry season, you get to experience the most from your safari.

During the dry season there are occasional rainfalls scattered around the country. Traveling is easier in the dry the season and animals in game parks are much more visible given the grass is short. Also animals tend to hide during the rain season and sometimes migrate to warmer areas. For birders however, bird activity is much higher during the wetter months when most of the breeding takes place.

It’s the moment of truth. After a long, sweaty scramble, your guide ushers you quietly into the clearing. Troop 13 are taking their midmorning break: hillocks of black fur protrude from the glossy greenery on every side – a crooked elbow here, a swollen belly there. Above the drip-drip of the foliage come sporadic snores and the soft sound of wind. Yes, there’s little going on, but you have never felt so alive. You inch forward and reach for your camera. This article highlights why you should embrak on a Uganda gorilla trekking experience / Uganda tours. It can also show you how to book affordable uganda safaris and zanzibar safari holidays.

The gorillas

David Attenborough’s breathless encounter with mountain gorillas in 1979’s Life on Earth remains an all-time television favourite. Back then, such an experience had seemed as improbable as walking with dinosaurs, and just as dangerous. Today we know better: we have nothing to fear from these gentle and highly endangered primates. And visiting them in their natural habitat – the mountain forests of equatorial Africa – has become one of the planet’s ultimate wildlife experiences.

Scientifically speaking, the mountain gorilla is a high-altitude race of the eastern gorilla, the larger of Africa’s two gorilla species, and distinguished by its denser fur, which protects it from the colder highlands climate. It lives in troops of 10-30 individuals, over which a “silverback” male (named for his cape of white hair) presides. This formidable individual, sometimes topping 200kg, seldom uses his great strength in anger. Indeed, gorillas – compared with excitable chimps – are very relaxed animals.

Today the mountain gorilla is confined to the Virungas, a cluster of forested volcanoes that straddle the borders of Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It is much rarer than its lowland cousins further west but – thanks largely to American primatologist Dian Fossey, of Gorillas in the Mist fame – much better known. Fossey’s work in Rwanda during the Sixties and Seventies radically changed our perception of these animals and, in the process, paved the way for today’s tourist industry.

The trek]

Today you are likely to go trekking in either Rwanda or Uganda, with security concerns ruling out the DRC for all but the most adventurous. Your first requirement is a permit. $750/£500 (Rwanda) or US$600 (Uganda) gets you one hour with the gorillas, plus the time it takes to hike there and back.

"The dense undergrowth, high altitude and steep, slippery trail will soon have you scratched, muddy and exhausted" Photo: AP/FOTOLIA

Your trek is conducted under the supervision of park rangers. They will guide you to one of several habituated troops, whose movements are monitored around the clock. Some may feel this makes the experience a little stage-managed. In reality, it is the only way to see wild gorillas. You cannot simply wander off by yourself: the terrain is too dangerous; the apes too elusive; and the rangers too focused on battling poachers to allow tourists to blunder off-piste. Indeed, it is only through the efforts of the dedicated park staff that the beleaguered apes survive at all.

"You cannot simply wander off by yourself: the terrain is too dangerous; the apes too elusive."
Treks set out daily. Rangers keep park HQ informed by radio of the gorillas’ whereabouts, so sightings are virtually guaranteed. After an obligatory briefing, you will be assigned to a group of up to eight trekkers, plus guides and porters. Each group is allocated to a particular gorilla troop. The trek, including one hour with the gorillas, may take anything from three to nine hours, depending on the location of your troop. If you miss the briefing, or show up with a cold – which poses a serious health risk to the apes – you will be turned away, permit or no permit.

The encounter

The dense undergrowth, high altitude and steep, slippery trail will soon have you scratched, muddy and exhausted. Tantalising clues – steaming droppings, munched bamboo – ramp up the excitement.

But nothing prepares you for the intensity of the encounter. Many leave in tears, convinced that they’ve felt a “connection”. While such ideas may be fanciful, there is no denying that sitting among the apes, meeting those searching, intelligent eyes in a face that seems to reflect your own, is a powerful experience.

"Nothing prepares you for the intensity of the encounter. Many leave in tears."
Your guides will explain the rules. You should keep quiet and still and preserve a distance of seven metres – although there’s nothing to stop the apes approaching you. Generally, nothing much happens: the gorillas are dozing or feeding, with some occasional rough and tumble among boisterous youngsters. The silverback is awesome to behold but nothing to worry about. If feeling tetchy, he may beat his chest or make a brief “mock” charge. This sets the pulse racing but you need only keep still, avoid eye contact and let his bluster burn out. Your guides will be in control.

"Gorilla trekking is intimate ? more like entering a family sitting room than racing around on safari" Photo: ALAMY

Gorilla trekking is, above all, an intimate experience – more like entering a family sitting room than racing around on safari. Once you have got your snaps, you can enjoy the privilege of observing an extraordinary animal close-up. One hour is not enough, but it is an hour that you will remember for the rest of your life.

Where to go

Rwanda or Uganda have a similar number of habituated gorilla troops, but there are important differences.

Rwanda’s gorillas live in Volcanoes National Park (Parc National des Volcans), about two hours’ drive north west from the capital Kigali. There are several good lodges in the vicinity. A trek can be done over a stay of just two nights, though another night will allow you to relax and explore further. All treks start from park HQ in the village of Kinigi.

Uganda’s gorillas are just over the border in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a full day’s drive from Entebbe or Kampala. Allow three nights. Treks start from four different points, several hours’ drive apart. This will determine which lodge you stay in.

• The 10 best safaris in Africa

Rwanda offers the easier trekking: your chances of a shorter hike are higher and you will have more flexibility on the day, with rangers allocating groups to troops according to fitness levels. In Uganda the hikes are often longer and steeper, although some prefer this “wilder” challenge.

Permit costs in Uganda are cheaper than in Rwanda (see left). Revenue from permits helps fund both gorilla protection and community support; porters and refreshments cost extra.

When to go

Gorilla trekking is a year-round activity. During the “long rains” of late March to early May conditions are at their wettest and hiking at its toughest. November is the short rainy season. Peak season is July and August.

What else to do

Uganda is an excellent safari destination and wildlife hotspots include Queen Elizabeth National Park (lions and other big game) and Kibale Forest (chimps). Other attractions include Murchison Falls. Rwanda’s more limited attractions include the beautiful Lake Kivu, and Nyungwe Forest, a haven for chimps and other wildlife. For a full Big Five experience, you can combine your Rwanda gorilla trek with a safari in Kenya (most operators offer combined packages) or the parks in Uganda.

Booking

Numerous operators offer gorilla trekking trips. Permits (arranged by your operator) are limited and in high demand: aim to book six months in advance – or, in peak season, a year.

Travel / 4 Reasons To Travel To Uganda by iconzmagazine(m): 4:03pm On Mar 23, 2017
Uganda is the country where East and West Africa meet, featuring lush forests inhabited by primates and arid savannahs which are home to a wide array of plains game. Lakes, mountains, tea plantations and waterfalls are some of the landmarks that made an impression on Winston Churchill when he travelled here, leading him to refer to it as "The Pearl of Africa".

I visited Uganda more than a century after Churchill and I was pleased to see that it has maintained the same beauty and 'wow' factor. As Africa Product Manager, I have travelled extensively through my favourite continent and I will never be tired to repeat that every single country provides a different experience; however there is no doubt Uganda occupies a very special place in my ranking!

Unsurprisingly the feedback of those who have had the privilege to visit this country seems to be consistent. There is something magical about it, a fantastic vibe created by a mix of elements that combined have the power to metaphorically blow every traveller away.
If the fact that Lonely Planet chose it as the best destination to travel to in 2012 hasn't convinced you to visit, then hopefully my highlights will! You can check out this Uganda Travel Guide for more information.

The best reason to visit Uganda is gorilla trekking. The packages below begin from Rwanda and are some of the most common;

1. Wildlife
Primates are so amazing that we often forget about some of the other incredible wildlife that lives in Uganda. However, I was thrilled to see herds of water buffalo in Queen Elizabeth National Park and watch hippos and elephants playing in the water of the Kazinga Channel. I took hundreds of photos of colourful birds, lazy crocodiles and elegant antelopes. If you are luckier than I was, you could even spot the famous tree climbing lions in Ishasha and if you are outrageously lucky the even more elusive leopard!

2. Water

Lakes, waterfalls, channels; the water element is prevalent in the Ugandan landscape which even features the source of the mighty Nile. Apart from allowing the lush vegetation to survive, this precious element adds to the beauty of the scenery, makes the activities on offer varied and exciting and is the habitat for many species that otherwise wouldn't be able to survive.

1. People

Every traveller knows how the attitude of local people can influence the experience when visiting a new country. When going somewhere new, we want to learn about other ways of living, we want contact with new cultures, we want to connect with people whose lives are so different but somehow so similar to ours.

People in Uganda are friendly, open and curious with a great sense of fun. They were happy to see us travelling in their country and they would wave, smile and call us "Muzungu" (white men) not in a derogatory way, but in a friendly, welcoming and to be fair, amusing way.
I remember chatting to a child wearing his impeccable school uniform after a day at school and a long walk back to Bwindi, his village. He told me he was very lucky to live there and proud that people from all around the world visit his home town to see the gorillas. He told me about a few times when he saw the gorillas coming to the village and that they ought to be the most amazing creatures on earth. I was touched and thought it is great to hear that the new generations have understood how important conservation is and how proud they should be to live in such an incredible area.

4. Gorillas
Wildlife enthusiasts know that a gorilla encounter is the ultimate wildlife experience. I had been waiting for this moment for a very long time. Unlike the chimps, which can be more difficult to spot, you are pretty much guaranteed an encounter with the gorillas. The anticipation and realisation that this was actually finally going to happen, kept me awake almost all night!
An early start was on the cards anyway and from my lovely tented camp I had been watching the tall, steep and verdant mountain the day before, waiting for the morning to come so I could climb it. After being assigned to our groups and to our experienced rangers, we started heading up, following the family of gorillas which had been the first to be habituated. As we climbed, I had a conflict between wanting the most beautiful walk of my life to last as long as possible and at the same time having the burning desire to find the gorillas as quickly as possible. We had been warned it could take as little as one hour or the whole day, depending on where the gorillas were. If possible, this increased my adrenaline even more. I could barely contain my excitement. I think the beauty about this trek was that not only were we walking through some of the most incredible habitat I have ever seen but also that we were working hard to climb the mountain in order to get the most amazing reward.

Webmasters / How To Delete Whatsapp Message Before It Gets Delivered by iconzmagazine(m): 7:11pm On Jan 14, 2017
WhatsApp has become one of the most widely used online chat medium. Earlier the facility that was available only on the “elite” BlackBerry phones, WhatsApp brought it to the masses. No surprise that it did not take much time for WhatsApp to leave BBM and Facebook Messenger far behind (so much so that Facebook had to buy WhatsApp for $19 billion). Now users are “apping” all the time in hundreds of languages through their mobile phones and WhatsApp on computer. They use WhatsApp for every small or big thing, for sharing everything with their friends —be it a text message, video, audio or photos. But sometimes in excitement and excessive use, we send a message that we did not really want to send. Or a message gets shot off to someone who was not the intended recipient of it. Such situations can cause a lot of troubles and embarrassment. This WhatsApp tutorial will show you something

he question is, can you stop a WhatsApp message after you’ve sent it. Is there a way to delete and recall a WhatsApp message?

The answer is both yes and no!

Many of my readers also ask, is it possible to delete a WhatsApp message with one tick showing in bubble?

The answer is no! Let’s find out the reasons behind it.

Last week, I explained how a message travels from your mobile to the receiver and how WhatsApp notify this through tick marks (check marks). As I said in that article, a clock icon on your message bubble indicates that the message is waiting and has not yet left your mobile phone.

So, if your message is still showing a clock icon in the bottom-right corner, and you realize that you did not want to send that message –you’re in luck! You should immediately turn off mobile Internet connection on your smartphone. This will block the channel and message will remain in your mobile. Then delete the message from WhatsApp before connecting to the Internet again.

Important Read: WhatsApp allows you to hide the fact that you’ve read the message. You can also hide your Last Seen status.

But this method is mostly useless! You’ll have long enough time frame to turn off Internet only if your Internet connection is slow. So, if you’re from a place where Internet speed is sluggish, you may have a few seconds to decide and switch off network.

In most cases, however, WhatsApp message travels at a very fast speed. It will not give you enough time to realize and react. As soon as the message leaves your mobile and reaches WhatsApp server, the clock icon will change into single tick sign. And once the clock icon is gone, there is no way to hold your message back. It will reach the recipient as and when her mobile device will connect to the Internet.

UPDATE: A few of my readers have suggested a way to stop a WhatsApp message before it gets delivered. I have not tested this method but it sound pretty logical. If you block the recipient contact before you get double tick icon, it may be possible that the WhatsApp Server will not deliver the message. WhatsApp server keeps undelivered messages on its server for about 30 days. Therefore, if you unblock the person before 30 days, the stopped message may go ahead and get delivered. So, do not unblock before 30 days!

As I said, I have not tested the above mentioned trick. If you use it, please let me know the results. We would love to hear from you!

I hope this answers your question. Better be of safer side and decide before you send anything on WhatsApp (or any online channel for that matter).
Webmasters / Factors To Consider Before Buying Web Hosting by iconzmagazine(m): 3:10pm On Dec 25, 2016
The first stage in creating a website has little to do with html! Step one requires you to sign up and publish your site with a web hosting provider before people can view your site. Web hosting services work by storing your website files in web servers which are connected to lightning fast networks. When someone types in your website address, the internet transmits that request to your server network, pulls out your files from the web host and sends the information back to the person’s computer allowing them to view and explore your website.
So since you understand the basic concept of web hosting here are 5 factors to consider when choosing a web host.

Speed of Web Host

The speed at which your website loads is critically important for your online business. People have very little patience online and a slow loading website will lead to frustration and very often results in customers leaving your site. It is essential that you ask your web host what type of Internet connection they offer to ensure it is suitable for your business and can handle heavy traffic volumes to your website.
Magnet have invested heavily in building out our very own dedicated fibre network infrastructure. This investment ensures that your connection can travel through the Magnet cloud guaranteeing the fastest possible speeds, ping and low latency.

Reliability of your Web Host

The majority of businesses know little about the servers used by their hosting company. It is always a good idea to check where your hosting provider hosts their services to ensure the company they use is reputable, is among the best web hosting companies and one which can guarantee high levels of speed and reliability.
All Magnet’s servers are based in Dublin on our core network which is connected to both the Irish Internet Exchange (INEX), the London International Exchange (LINX) as well as having other private peers with other important global internet partners.

Web Host Security

The security features of a web host’s servers is hugely important when choosing a web host, particularly for a website that will be used to process customer payments or where customers send personal details through the site. Customers are unlikely to proceed with a transaction if they do not feel the site is fully secure.
At Magnet we have invested in our very own Irish infrastructure which is managed day and night to ensure the security of your service is maintained.

Web Host Features & Add Ons

Who doesn’t like to receive something for nothing? When you sign up for hosting with Magnet we provide a number of free tools such as a Content Management System (CMS), Customer Relationship Manager (CMR), webmail, email newsletters, an image gallery and a host of other value adding elements.
Check out some of the free tools included when you sign up for Magnet Hosting here.

Web Host Support

Websites are the lifeblood of many businesses and if something isn’t working properly you need to be assured that you can get it resolved quickly. At Magnet, we understand that when you experience a problem, you need support quickly. The longer a problem persists, the greater the risk it poses to your site and therein is a concurrent risk to your business.
That’s why at Magnet we aim to provide a world class support centre for our business customers where issues are resolved quickly and efficiently. Each business customer is provided with their own personal account manager with whom you can speak at all times.
Travel / What To Expect The Day You Trek Gorillas In Rwanda by iconzmagazine(m): 1:32pm On Dec 12, 2016
Carry your gorilla permit with you as you leave your hotel that morning and make sure you have packed all the necessary gears like gloves, trekking boots, long sleeved wear, rain jackets, snacks and packed lunch, walking stick (very necessary), among others, this is what you should expect the day of your gorilla trekking excursion while on your Rwanda safaris. Carry your passport with you as you head to the park headquarters for an early morning pre-tracking briefing by park officials. Your gorilla permits will be crosschecked with your passports to verify that you are the right owner of the permit. At this moment, you are expected to be ready with your packed lunch since no one is certain about the time you will take to see these gorillas.

Trekking to Find the Gorillas

The overall length of your hike to the mountain gorillas is unpredictable depending on how far the gorillas have moved being wild animals. It may take as little as 30 minutes to find your gorilla family and as long as five to seven hours. The forest is verdant, humid and somehow light and there are no discernible trekking paths. The terrain is full of hills and steep volcano slopes where you will be required to pull yourself up steep grades by grasping onto branches, plant roots, bushes and more. Follow the lead of the guide as to the best path and form to take. If you need a break, let your guide know. It is also advisable that you carry with you some energy giving snacks and bottled mineral water to quench your thirst and give you more energy.

Actual Encounter with the Gorillas

Once your group finds the gorilla family the clock starts ticking. You are advised to stay quiet, move slowly and avoid sudden movements in order not to irritate the gorillas. Instead sit down and avoid looking directly into the eyes of the gorillas as this may also irritate them thinking that you want to fight them. It’s not a problem to look a gorilla in the eye, but if he begins charging at you, hold your ground but lower your eyes to indicate that you do not want a confrontation but rather you are submissive. Prepare your cameras and get ready to take as many photos as you want but please remember to remove the flash lights and sounds. The gorillas may be feeding from the ground resting, moving around or up in the trees playing about in the branches. Try to get yourself the best view for photographs and learn all their behavior. Follow them in case they are moving but at a recommended distance which should be not shorter than 7 meters. The most important thing is you staying near your guide and following his instructions always. For all gorilla tours, trackers guide you through the jungle clearing the brush with their machete so you can get a clearer and closer look at the gorillas. It is incredible how graceful and peaceful these animals are, especially considering their incredible size. You’ll be amazed when you see the silverbacks (mature males) get up and move around showing control over the territory.
Travel / About Kidepo Valley National Park by iconzmagazine(m): 7:54am On Nov 24, 2016
Kidepo Valley National Park is a 1,442 square kilometers (557 sq mi) national park in the Karamoja region in northeast Uganda. Kidepo is rugged savannah, dominated by the 2,750 metres (9,020 ft) Mount Morungole and transected by the Kidepo and Narus rivers. The park is located approximately 520 kilometers (320 mi), by road, northeast of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city. Its recommended that you go by air to this distant national park in Uganda. The northwestern boundary of the park runs along the international frontier with South Sudan

Gazetted as a national park in 1962, it has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species. Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated national park and also the most magnificent, for Kidepo ranks among Africa’s finest wildernesses. From Apoka in the heart of the park, a savannah landscape extends far beyond the gazetted area, towards horizons outlined by distant mountain ranges. The local communities around the park include pastoral Karamojong people, similar to the Maasai of Kenya, and the IK, a hunter-gatherer tribe.

Kidepo Valley National Park contains one of the most exciting faunas of any Ugandan national park. Along with the neighboring Karamoja region, it houses many species found nowhere else in Uganda, including the greater and lesser kudu, eland and cheetah. Carnivores here include the lion, leopard, spotted hyena and black-backed and side-striped jackals. Other large species regularly seen here are elephant, Burchell’s zebra, bushpig, warthog, Rothschild’s giraffe, Cape buffalo, bushbuck, bush duiker, Defassa waterbuck, Bohor reedbuck, Jackson’s hartebeest and Oribi.

The park boasts an extensive bird list of around 475 species, making it second only in Uganda to Queen Elizabeth National Park. A few species of note are the Ostrich, Kori Bustard and Karamoja Apalis. Kidepo is notable for its birds of prey. Of the 56 species recorded, 14 – including Verreaux’s Eagle, Egyptian Vulture and Pygmy Falcon – are believed to be endemic to the Kidepo and Karamoja region. There has, however, been no comprehensive survey of birds in Kidepo and visitors stand a good chance of adding to the current list.

Travel / Uganda Visa Fees Reduced To $50, You Can Now Come Visit Us For Less by iconzmagazine(m): 1:32pm On Sep 14, 2016
With effect from July 22nd 2016, tourists seeking to come to Uganda for Uganda Safaris or Uganda Safari will pay half of the money they have been paying for single entry tourist visas. Government has halved the fees from $100 to $50 in an effort to encourage more tourists to come to the country that has been consistently ranked among top tour destinations in the world for the past few years.

The CNN travel magazine last year ranked Uganda among the 16 top tourist destinations in the world. In 2012, Lonely Planet, another global travel magazine, ranked Uganda as a number one tourist destination. Bloom Consulting, a global form specializing in country branding and ranking, placed Uganda in the eighth position among the top ten tourist destinations in 2014.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls National Parks have separately been ranked among to birding sites in Africa. According to a statement issued by the internal affairs ministry on Thursday, a statutory instrument has been issued to effect the changes in visa fees. Uganda sells other types of tourist visas including multiple and transit permits.

The fee for other visas has not been revised. The decision to slash single tourist visas fees, according to the internal affairs ministry, was reached after a request by officials from tourism docket.

“All people seeking to enter Uganda shall pay $50 instead of $100. All Ugandan borders have been notified to effect the change,” reads a statement from the internal affairs ministry.

The internal affairs ministry spokesperson, Jacob Simunyu, said Uganda was charging the highest fees for single entry tourist visas in the East African region. Tourists have been paying an equal amount of money for the single entry tourist visa for Uganda and the one for East Africa.

However, the East Africa single tourist visa issued at the point of entry into the region allows tourists to travel to Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda on the same permit. The non-extendable visa is valid for only three months.

Romance / 3 Best Traps That Will Expose A Cheating Husband by iconzmagazine(m): 10:46am On Feb 25, 2015
Many men are caught up into cheating of late. However much a man might look innocent to your eyes, his dark side will always be miles away from you. most women have at one point suspected their men of cheating on them but the question is “How are you going to clarify all that?,” The traps below could help you bring out the truth however, they might vary according to situations.

1 – The Nicker Trap

This trap varies. It comes most in a situation where you either spend a couple of days away from home and don’t know everything that happens at home. It could also work in a situation where your husband spends most of his time home while you spend most of your time at work. Now this is how this trapworks. Buy a nicker that doesnt fit you, it should be bigger than all your nickers or if you are huge then the it should be the opposite meaning the nicker you buy should be too small for you. The whole point here is buying a nicker that doesnt fit you, go ahead and place the nicker under one of the cushions in the living room or any where around your bed in the bedroom but it should be far away from yours. After the trap, come home one day, pull out the nicker and start talking about the whole cheating issue. Talk with confidence, and act like you’ve been hearing rumors and listen to his response, if he starts fugiting with words or he gives any funny explanations you will know the truth. His response will give you the answer. Only set this trap if you have been hearing rumors about your husband cheating on you especially from your neighbours.

2 – Perfume Trap

This trap is very effective. Know the perfumes, deodrants or colons and the body lotions your husband uses and master their smell. You will tell the difference when you smell a different scent especially if it’s a feminine perfume, colon ,deodrant or body lotion and this should be on his skin and not his clothes since he might have hugged a friend or even a workmate meaning this could get it all wrong. If you smell a female perfume, doedrant, colon or lotion on his skin this is enough evidence to prove he is cheating on you but the bad thing with this trick is, it will show you the truth but make it hard for you to counter him and tell him whatever you might need to. The other dis-advantage is your man might decide to take a shower after the moment with his side dish making it hard for you to notice. This calls for commitment, you should keep setting the trap everyday until he screws up then you will know exactly what you need to know.

3 – Telephone Trap
This trap is straight and very common of late. You simply call your husband and pretend to be someone else. Its much effective if you’ve heard rumors and know the side dish’s name. You probably call and pretend to be his side dish, make up a sweet conversation and an arrangement if possible. If he proposes to the arrangement simply invite him to any hotel around, book a room and wait right there. If he dare shows up, BOOOM! you’re right there. You gat him busted.

Remember for all these traps to work you must have heard rumors about your husband cheating on you or seen him with other women in suspicious scenarios. If you havn’t please don’t dare do this, it might ruin your relationship. Always keep your head up!

Romance / Why Do Bad Boys Always Get The Women? by iconzmagazine(m): 6:35pm On Feb 24, 2015
Ever wondered why women always love “bad boys”? It really beats one’s understanding to see a woman leave a good, honest, loving and caring guy for someone who is wrong, doesn’t care, only cares about himself, has dozens of women and only loves a woman because of her body and the big question is What do women see in such guys?, Why do the “bad boys” always seem to get the ladies? Why would a woman shed tears for such guys and not the man who is willing to sacrifice his life for her? Well, it’s just alot to think about right?

The fact is we all want what we can’t have. Most of us want what we can’t have, only a few are willing to appreciate what they have and ready to build on it but majority of the women want what they can’t have. Bad boys simply don’t give a damn, if a woman says No, who cares? They move on to the next one and surface with the same attitude as they did the last one. Bad boys don’t care whether he is your Mr. Right or your Mr. Right now or if he is either, that’s indifference.

Women don’t like men they can control and manipulate easily. Bad boys are always rebellious, not easily manipulated and extremely hard to be controlled by a woman. This leaves a woman with no option but to know her boundaries or limits in a relationship. Women always tend to cheat on spouses who are easily controllable and manipulative as they believe they will simply give an explanation to get them out of the questioning loop if initiated by the man, this doesn’t apply to bad boys as women fear them because they are usually aggressive or will simply replace her with someone else.

Bad boys are unpredictable. Contrary to the belief “Women like men they can read and men that provide them with a sense of security”, women actually love to guess! They find a challenge in it and it’s one of the elements of the bad boy that keeps them coming back for more. Bad boys are always testing the boundaries and pushing the limits when it comes to their life and women surely can’t get enough of it.
Bad boys are confident. Bad boys aren’t just confident but their attitude is everything they do from the way they dress to the way they approach you and considering the woman’s feelings have been sparked, the talking part just gives them all the credit because they are so confident when they are talking to a woman and aren’t scared to say all the words they need to say because of their take-it or leave-it mentality. Bad boys know how to tell a woman exactly what she wants to hear since they talk with extreme confidence.
Bad boys are always in control. Most women want men who can make them feel safe, bad boys aren’t scared to look someone in the eye and stand up for what they believe in and what kills it all is they still know how to treat a lady. They surely won’t let someone disrespect his woman and do nothing about it, this is one thing that sets them apart from the good boys.

Bad boys always give women enough time to miss them. Truth is the more you miss someone the more you love that person, distance always make your love stronger and too much romance could reduce the fire in your relationship. Bad boys are rarely around their women, and this makes women miss and love them the more especially when they surface right before them. Bad boys won’t worry so much about their women though to some extent they will and women really enjoy it when such moments happen, “A bad boy worrying about her!” This is really something big to her.
Ask yourself “When was the last time i went down the wild road?”, if you are asking yourself such a question you obviously aren’t a bad boy and if you want more attention from the ladies, take a few of the tips above and learn to color outside the lines occasionally!
