Commonsense101: My brother, I bring the question up because one pro for Naija claim say na big issue for something like that even though my younger bro guarantee me say na nothing; say him do see things wey pass that one self for him backyard . I know say we sabi do am pass but I jus dey wonder why the first pro first complain. Na wetin dey inside? |
You know I could ask the same exact question about some States in the US and I will be given challenges like (1) Raw material (2) cost etc because every where is unique. No one would have taken it as condescending. And no one would have classified me as "you people" Commonsense101: |
EgunMogaji:This is a tall order in places like Ajah Lagos. From what I see unless you pay close to 10M, you seldom can fence right away in most of the marketed estates especially those that are likely to appreciate significantly due to their low initial buy in. |
Does anybody here have direct live-in experience with a decked roof (house with flat concrete decking as the roof)? I know all the theories for and against but I will like to hear from someone who is actually under one in our climate. I lived in one for a year in Kuwait. it even had a rooftop pool diagonally above me. It was also a 5-floor apartment complex. Utilities were inclusive with rent so the AC was perpetually on hence I cannot use that as a reliable form of reference plus the weather is no were like Naija. In fact, I have often said that if you stay in the middle east for a few weeks you will become born again; my thinking if this is still earth and it is this hot then I definitely don't want to go to hell. ![]() |
Thanks. Good to know. Have eyes on something similar. EgunMogaji: |

Where is this? Lovely view twinskenny: |
gabbytabby:I like this and will apply it in other areas. Nice one. However as per the discussion in question 400 or 500k may seem like a no brainer but fact remains that it depends on your particular situation at the time and the opportunity cost. Because person no buy land at 500k no necessarily make am lazy. It might just be the case of opportunity cost and or not being exposed to opportunities or a host of other things beyond simple hardwork. |
How big is the plot of land? Even on your website information is very vague. Are there any other fees? Please state them. |
ice4u999:My bro, I love this. Would totally love to do something like this but since my papa had to buy even the land wey I dey build house for now, I no get land. I will have to start by buying land first which is not an easy feat. More grease to your elbows |
I was going to keep out of this gist since both sides are making a point and both sides are correct in their own ways but you somehow tickled my fancy. So I will respond to most of what you wrote just for the heck of it because really wetin concern me self? ice4u999:While life is what you make it but some skills are more marketable in some places than others. That is simple economics. Honestly, the place I had the most fun in my life is as a kid riding my bicycle in the village and playing soccer with all my cousins. That is an undeniable fact. I have had the fortune to travel to different parts of the world including the Middle East due to my work specialty. I remember a fellow worker who I had just met in our first week in Qatar ask me where I was from and I said Nigeria and he said "419" I told him that if he repeated Nigeria and 419 again in the same sentence we will both be going back to the US, the difference is he will be flying Air-ambulance. I bring up this story just to let you know how proud I am to be a Nigerian but not necessarily proud of what she has become. I remember coming back to Nigeria from stinking, hot dusty and dirty Qatar in 2006 and within one week I wanted to go back to Qatar. I got harassed at every checkpoint for egunje. I stayed in a hotel so I had no problem with my own personal comfort but everyone I visited, even those that I feel are doing fine had no power and will not turn on their gen during the day. I was sweating like a pig. I felt more uncomfortable in Naija than in Qatar, that was when I knew there was a problem and I did not like it. ice4u999:Well that is because they say their is no place like home. Monkey no fine but him mamma like am. I personally started thinking of Naija after the tone the US has taken with our new presido. I fear what happened in SouthAfrica and even Nigeria with Ghana must go could one day happen even in the the US. I want my children to know that they can always come home were they will always be welcomed. Again that does not mean I turn a blind eye to the problems facing Naija. If it were so I would not be negotiating for burglar proof windows for my future house. ice4u999:You know what, I have friends from well to do families who swore that it is Naija till death. I had to checkout because first I won the green card lottery and secondly, I was not born with a silver spoon- stainless steel all the way. Anyway, some of this same people are now in the US. It seems some of them when they get the chance they jump. It sort of disappoints me. I often brag about Nigerians doing so well in Nigeria but when I see some of this same people fleeing, I am speechless. ice4u999:My brother, na condition make crayfish yash bend |
In 2008 2 Million Naira was 17,000 US Dollars As of today 6 Million Naira is worth roughly 17,000 US Dollars. Depending on where you bought your land, it might have appreciated or depreciated against the dollar. So here is the thread, if you don't mind could you share the cost of landed property (land only) and location you bought in 2008 or any year and what that land is worth today based on verifiable sales. Please, no empty posts or comments that do not directly contribute to the discussion. Thanks. |
Daboomb:I detest that statement. Why na only Obama get "even" before him name. You love Nigeria so much but you no respect greatness. This is the problem with us. We talk the talk but don't walk the walk. The worst part is that your insult on the brother comes on black history month. Chei. Black man don suffer finish. |
GoodFaith:Sorry for the confusion "big thing" meaning "desired" |
diordaves:Real funny. Actually gated communities are a big thing in the US. Usually costing more. I hate them because it is so much stress punching in pass codes at the gate each time. I simply tail someone behind when I can and that is exactly how the bad guys get in too. |
I concur. Dremca: |
Madam, This is such a timely tread for me. I am still in the design phase. Have already commissioned an architect and hope to start as soon as possible. Truly when I see the quoted price of something here, it scares me a bit so your tread is a welcomed relief. May God be your light. |
mufutau55:Gentlemen and Ladies, I have personally used this before to level uneven areas before laying tiles. Butagain this is the US and it is common here. Something similar to this.

This is just wrong and barbaric. No one should condone either action. Now two families are without their loved one. Secondly no were did it say the policeman killed was part of the same squad that murdered the young man. He was just unfortunate to be serving his country at the wrong place and time. Also burning police trucks is just like cutting of your nose to spite your face. The police trucks belong to the people. The few good police men will need those trucks to respond to crisis. Young Nigerians, we are better than this. |
