You aren't opting in for medicine or any of the other courses with higher cut offs,so why aren't u appreciative to God rather than feel down.U got 72% last year I know, but what if 56% is actually the score God wants to prove HIS goodness to you with? I know what I want to be,because I av invested time, interest, money and energy on it.And only God can change that if HE decides to. Wish u luck on ur path in life |

Opey4luv: I think we're quite on the same page on this. Passion and the ability to see opportunities and take them should be the deciding factor while choosing a career. Parents, environmental factors and bandwagon effect are just some of what candidates have to fight to achieve their goals. Like Amir Khan said in one of his movies, you should never force a child to adopt a career line he is not passionate about.
We just need to orientate ourselves about developing our career lines instead of learning to make money alone. Well spoken bro! You completed my msg.Just hope we've been able to make an impact in someone's life |

Opey4luv: I guess you're an idealist Bro. There are two valid reasons why I still think these two courses will continue to enjoy a lot of patronage. 1. Can this work in Nigeria? How many ethical hackers do we have in the DSS and the likes. How many criminologists do we have in our intelligence units? 2. You just stated clearly that what excites you is becoming an ethical hacker, from the start, we have people who just wanted to be this and that. It's just coincidental that these two prestigious courses are among those fantasies. I grew up reading Ben Carson's novels, then I didn't know a thing about the terms he used in writing the novels but I knew I just had to become something like that. It's passion Bro. Bro,basically speaking, being a network security expert/Ethical hacker is passion 4 me,not just because I want to be different,NO! Compueter networks, programming etc have always been intruiging and insightful to me.I have been making the way by learning and even taking exams b4 getting admitted 4 a related course in the university. Now,am not saying for as many that wants to study medicine and law, passion is not what drives them, neither am I discouraging anyone from both! But you and I know that, pressure from parents to see a doctor and lawyer in the family, plus peer influences(Because my friend is....I too will),to a large extent,is responsible for the choices of many of these applicants.I had that same pressure too at a point in my life! Now,concerning your question "Can Cyber security work in Nigeria" Bro,you know the world you live in,China is a threat to even American cyberspace,India,Indonesia etc are threats to everyone in the world. Now will the need to protect our cyberspace be necessary? Don't know what to say! Lastly,I admire ur passion, cos I think we are in need of good writers and motivational speakers to revive our drooping spirits.Would definitely buy your book when it's ready!!! |

No offense ment to anyone pls,but sometime I just wonder how in this technology age,Nigerians are still killing themselves to study medicine. When there are diverse professional courses now available. One of the reasons why we lack professionals in many fields is due to this issue of inadequate/lack of diversification. We all want to be Doctors and Lawyers.
Gone is the era of our parents when there was so much respect and prestige for such fields due to inadequate literate people in the society. We have lots of Doctors and Lawyers now, some of whom can barely make ends meet!
People, let's be wise, there are other better fields our Country needs us for. That is why other nations would continue to be ahead of us,because we don't think outside the box.
I aspire to be a Cyber security expect/Ethical hacker because we don't have them in large numbers here and because Nigeria needs such people in this Cyber security age to defend our nation.Let's think this way pls!!! Not because my friend is doing a course I have to be like him.
Find ur passion in life early, before u wate a good amount of years in the university. There are other better fields you can become a giant in.Goodluck to all. |

Jus4c: Greetings to everyone! My lil sis scored 213 in JAMB and 52% in Post-UTME. She chose Education and Christian Religious Studies as her course of choice. What are her chances? I think she's got a pretty good chance of getting admitted, since the competition for the chosen course is not high. But then, truth is,no matter how perfect a score,we do need to be steadfast on prayers,as nothing is promised for no one |
