The army has always been involved.  They will always be called in.  The army is not an investigative body, atleast not for civil unrest.  The only duty they will perform as they always do is to victimize the remaining people who were not slaughtered.  It will only serve to add to the hardship of an already injured people.  The perpetrators of these inhuman acts are not angles, they are human and they leave clues.  Proper investigation will fish them out but no one will want to waste time on such.  I mean who wants to waste time on a few people slaughtered over a desert land.  if this had been in the niger delta, surely we will be expecting to see another Udi soon.   

If i were a parent, i will not allow my child or ward venture into the north for service.  How many corpers have lost their lives for a worthless goal?  what has been done to ensure that more corpers posted to the north are not ruthlessly slaughtered?  To what benefit is the youth service to the country if the major aim of promoting unity is not being achieved?  Last year i lost a cousin who was on a promotional course to Maiduguri.  He was serving his nation but he did an unceremonious death and no one cared that he died.

Our government is not organized enough to know what to do.  The people are too cowardise to stand up for what they know or believe to be fact.  every year, corpers loose their lives in the north, yet year after year more are sent to their death and no one has the nerve to complain.  Last week we all saw pictures of people who were smashed to death because they did not have to give to robbers, someone pointed out "but these people were not tied"  yes they were too scared to stand up to a fight.  the silly driver was too scared to say no the robbers.  hence we would trade almost fifteen lives for his own selfish self.  it did not occur to the passengers that if they had broken out and run for it, perhaps they would had had a chance of an escape. 

The average nigerian is held in boundage of fear.  Retaliation would not ease the problem in the north, it will only end when the people have the nerve to stand up and say no to a non functional government.

why do we complain when the US brands us a terrorist state?  when fulani herdsmen start carry automatic or semi automatic, then there is more to it than meet the eye.  Islam has been branded a terrorist religion across the globe, though i am not a moslem but i will say this is not true.  My best friends are moslems, most of the best people I know are from the middle belt and I can tell you that some of them are as much victims of these crisis as  you and I.  

Our main  problem are our leaders.  The government.  Unemployment in the north coupled with the unchecked infiltration of nigeriens and chadians into the country has helped to fuel the unrest in the north.  A few notorious old men hide under the guise of religion to brain wash these unambitious youths and use them as a tool to perpetrate these crisis. What has been the result of investigations into previous unrest?  who has ever been persecuted for sponsoring or masterminding the unrest?  who has ever taken time to dig into the root of the problem?  what measures are put in place to check illegal immigrants especially from these extremist countries like chad and niger?

Nothing.  Absolutely nothing.  In a few days time, this will also be swept under the carpet and we will have to await the next uprising.

How about you learn to produce something of your own? Do you know you can make a lot of money producing liquid soap, air freshener, insecticide, antiseptics, disinfectant, toilet wash, shampoo, detergents, deodorant etc? I would had commended the NPF for these executions if i was only sure that there are no ulterior motives behind the killings.  

I view it from two points, the last crisis in Maiduguri had been the worst for the NPF, it lost a lot of officers.  The painful part of it is this, if you leave these people in detention, before you know it they will be walking the streets free men.  These people have caused a lot of pains to a lot of families.  Do you know how many lives were lost? How many children that would never have a father to see them through life? They don't deserve the decency of a trial.  They slaughtered men like animals, they deserve same fate.

Mohammed yusuf was released on bail in January after being arrested for similar offense.  Why was he released?  Who effected the release?

But again, i stop to wonder.  The claimed affluence in which Yusuf was to had been living in would make one wonder where he got his finances from.  I don't believe only one man could fund a group this large.  how can we be sure that the executions are not just a show to appease nigerians while still protecting the main people behind the scene?  If and only if they had saved yusuf and tortured him more, i believe some names would had come out that will shock the living shit out of Nigerians.  

These riots in the north are not accidental, they are becoming too numerous to believe that there is no strings attached.  

There is something Nigerians are not being told.  In my opinion, these crises are ethnically targeted but disguised under religion.  Islam preaches peace.  "Asalam male' Kun" if i got that right remains the traditional greeting in Islam.  How can a religion that preaches peace so much be responsible for some much violence?

No Southerner can own properties in the North because during these crises you will be the first target.  More lives had been lost in the North due to these crisis than the rebel group in the Niger Delta can hope of claiming in Twenty years, but all eyes are on the Niger delta.

They take what we have to build up their own society, leaving us with nothing and yet we cannot survive in their own environment. When we talk of a one nigeria, the only thing that holds Nigeria together as a country is the pipe-lines running from the south-south to the north and to the west.  This is the only tape that holds the pieces together.  There is no love from the north to south or west.  When they start these riots, the first target is always the igboman or anything that looks like one (urhobo, calabar, ijaw, isekeri etc).  Then the Yoruba man.  Are there not Yoruba  and even igbo Muslims?  Do they take these into considerations when they draw out the daga?

Let us tell ourselves the truth.  All these goes beyond the eye.

talking of movies, there is a nigerian movie i watched long ago and im dying to watch again, to me it is the best Nigerian movie i ever watched with regards the theme of the movie, the setting location and the originality of the actors.  Although the computer graphics was terrible, but it is forgivable.  I don't remember the name, but it is sometime about goodess of the rivers.  That when anyone fishes in the river, the goodess gets angry and comes out in the form of a dragon to torment the people of the land.  I will appreciate if anyone can call to remembrance the name and if anyone has an old copy for sale, i will gladly buy it off you.

I know there might be better ones than that, but i gave up watching Nigerian home videos long ago when i discovered i could always predict the end of the movie from the beginning or from the name. Nigerian Home video lacks suspense, you can never get tensed watching one because the story line are all the same.

I would never had forgiven myself if i had bumped into this post after it must had closed.  I appreciate the audacity with which the first poster presented his case, the professionals amongst us might rate it unprofessional but we all must admit that the guy has no other way to do it than how he has done it.

I know nothing about the financial sector of the economy, but i have always been a prophet of doom for the Nigerian banking sector.  I have preached the fall of the banking sector from time past.  True the banks adsorb 5 or say 10% of graduates from every field of study, truth is without the banks most graduates would never stand a chance of getting a job in their lifetime.  But even the recruitment is done on a man know man bases anyway. So its not a matter of recruiting the best hands, they just pick who so ever.

I have always wondered at the rate of growth of the banks, the numerous branches.  At times you find 2 to 3 branches of a particular bank on one street.  How do they hope to sustain the work force.  The huge salary payouts how can they survive with that?  what do these banks really do to generate income that will be enough to cater for such huge over heads?

Share holders money is being expended acquiring new properties and paying out salaries.  what is the guarantee that the era of failed banks are over with these kind of reckless and unprofessional spending?  It is said that what an old man sees sitting down, the young cannot even from the top of the tree.  In all these, First bank has been unmoved.  The other banks are busy dealing out huge pay cheques, first bank remains unmoved.  They have survived the ages and though we term them old school, but believe me this old school bank is seeing something these new generation banks are not seeing.  And I can tell you boldly, mark my words, soon more banks in Nigeria will fold up taking depositors and share holders money with them.
