It I now a common site and we all wonder why newly established small scale businesses like logistics, salon, bars, barbar shops etc which are excitedly established by very enthusiastic young entrepreneur usually folds up with 3years..

Here are 8reason why this happens.

1 The entrepreneur "assumes the air" with his /her start ups..

too much expectations makes most budding starters to invest too much in a business which doesn't have histroy

2. Starting a new business with a loan.. to be on the safer side start your small business with funds from friends and family, Neve a bank loan with interest. This is because you haven't created a history business book, hence can't figure out how patronage will b

3. Bad location!
Example, u are on a suicide mission if u start ur business in a bad location, say, starting a provision store on shops on the express roads..No! Shops inside neighborhood is best for that. Locating you hotel inside a crowded area,No! U require a rather quiet and secluded location cuz ppl that lodge wants privacy. You don't open a fast food in a student area, yes, there will be sales, but not enough to make your business successful, students are many in numbers, but usually broke..

A business center ,hair salon , bookshop ,phon repair etc are best for school environment,

3. Getting an employee even before u break even.

Many young entrepreneur like feeling like bosses, as fast as they have open a business ,they have employed someone to assist, thinks just so that they can be called boss..this will kill your business, employees are needed and not wanted. If u place and employee because of want, u will grid down you business in two years...


4. Improper book keeping.

Many don't even know this, to them, every income means profit, this one is a big problem for most POS operators..most of them dnt know the POS machine charges, bank charges, bank ATM machine withdrawal charges etc. They can't even fanthome data cost , paper cost and cost of location into their expenses, to them all income is profit..and that is why most have been doing POS for over 10years..get your books and fanthome everything into consideration...

5. Assumption that company income is your income

This is a common mistakes made by young entrepreneur, they assume money made by firm belong to them so long as they own the business...the other day, I was at my Business place ND a customer who.made purchase of big gift item for his girlfriend who he can along with, transferred my payment n the senders names reads "Quick delivery services".. well, I confirmed payment but just smiled.he will kill his business, that I know, not because of the purchase for the lady, but his recklessness..

Now how do bosses separate these monies : company money and your money...it's simple; conduct a random interview of 3-5 qulified person's fo the management of a business like yours. During the causual but serious interview, list all your job in your firm as his properties role ..ND ask him how much he will take as wag for such role or position. Do this 3-5 ties with different qualified person.and list down their wage demand.....then calculate the average of this demands and that is you suppose monthly payment from your business...

In those interview, remember to tell the interviewees that the firm is new and has so so as total income.so far...ur deduce income should be transferred to ur personal acct and used only as your personal expenses

6. Inability to recover cost expenditure

All accrued cost of a business must be recovered and surpassed before profit begins, however, identifying these cost can be challenging, not every cost is easily calculated by a new man in business, so for this I teach u different types of cost

a. Implicit b. Explicit cost.

Implicit cost is opportunity cost while explicit cost I accounting cost.

Opportunity cost is cost u didn't pay for all cuz u did it on u own..e.g home baking, u didn't pay for business rent and so u make bigger profit than those who did it in their business place, but that doesn't mean u would not remember to ad the cost when u compare business profits.. I warned it, it is difficult to locate and calculate...

Let's move to explicit cost, this is cost as you know it, but their are two types of it. VARIABLE and FIXED costs..

Fixed are cost made on items or services that that long time to expire, while vs variable cost at cost accrued on item that expires in a short time.

When u open a salon, ur generator, your glass door, your chairs your fan,hair dryer, your machines etc are all under fixed cost ND ur cost of weavon, wigs, soaps etc

Now remember u have to recover all cost...

This is so painful, but congrats in advance to Tinubu for winning 2027 elections because it seems that Obi and Kwankwaso never learnt anything in 2023. He'll win not because he's popular nor scored excellently in performance, but due to the myopic strategy of the opposition.
