I was privileged to glance through it and for the Executive alone, the followings were budgeted:

TOTAL PACKAGE FOR STATE HOUSE: N42.9Billion

1. KITCHEN EQUIPMENT: N123Million( N94Million was
released for the same purpose last year, one wonders
whether they threw away the one they bought last year).

2. WELFARE: N209Million

3. HONORARIUM AND SITTING ALLOWANCE:
N765Milloin(equivalent to $1,545,454). Come to think of it,
do our ministers collect sitting allowance on the weekly
Federal Council Meeting?

4. FIVE(5) BMW CARS AND 5 TOYOTA LAND CRUISERS:
N197Million.

5. COMPUTERS: N200Million(Remember this people bought
computers last year and i wonder whether they threw them
away).

6. STATE HOUSE RENT: N77.5Million ( Nawa o! does state
house have Landlord? this is no joke o, what is happening
pls, somebody should explain)

7. SEWAGE: N132.47Million, while the State-House in Abuja
will gulp N52.83Million, it' liaison office in lagos will gulp
N10Million.
Note: 2016 budget for sewage was N6.1Million while 2017 increased to N52.83 Million. I wonder whether what they eat in Aso-Villa is still food.

8. BUHARI'S INTERNAL TRAVELS WILL COST
N739.487Million. While that of Osibanjo will cost
N218.296Million. Other staff will gulp N97.208Million.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo would assent to this year’s Appropriations Bill into law next week, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has said according to a report.





On his part, Osinbajo said the executive would continue to engage the legislature in line with democratic principles to ensure that Nigerians enjoyed dividends of democracy.





In his address to mark the 2nd anniversary of the 8th House of Representatives, he expressed delight that the House has kept to its promise to carry out a budget reform that would ensure that this year Appropriations Bill was processed in a transparent manner.





He said: “On issue of budget, we kept our promise to Nigerians at the beginning of the legislative session to ensure transparent deliberation and passage of the 2017 Appropriations Bill, which will be signed into law early next week.




“We have also carried out significant budget reforms. For the first time in the history of Nigeria, a public hearing was conducted in the National Assembly to get the input of Nigerians in the budgetary process.





Further reforms introduced include the details of the Appropriation Act being available to all members before passage in plenary; the requirement that members of each committee should sign the report of their committees before being sent to the Committee on Appropriations.





“All these novel measures are unprecedented in the history of our parliament and ensured that the House debate and consideration of the budget proposal presented by the President was evidence-based and geared towards galvanising the economy for greater growth.”




The acting President, represented by Senator Ita Enang, Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, said the executive would not confront the legislative arm in their dealings.




We appreciate the powers of the legislature; we will in our relationship with you, continually relate on the basis of honour for each other.

The coalition of Niger Delta militants has asked the Federal Government to return all oil blocs controlled by Northerners to the people of the region.

The demand is in retaliation for the order issued by Northern youth organizations to the Igbo in the north to quit the region by 1st October.

The Niger Delta Watchdogs, Niger Delta Volunteers, Niger Delta Peoples Fighters, Niger Delta Warriors, Bakassi Freedom Fighters, Niger Delta Movement for Justice, Niger Delta Fighters Network and Niger Delta Freedom Mandate, said in a joint statement yesterday that they also intend to declare an independent Niger Delta on October 1 as they can no longer condone northern enslavement.

The communiqué was signed by ‘General’ John Duku (Niger Delta Watchdogs and Convener: Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators), ‘General’ Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteers), ‘General’ Osarolor Nedam (Niger Delta Warriors), and ‘Major-Gen.’ Henry Okon Etete (Niger Delta Peoples Fighters).

Others are ‘Major-Gen.’ Asukwo Henshaw (Bakassi Freedom Fighters), ‘Major-Gen.’ Ibinabo Horsfall (Niger Delta Movement for Justice), ‘Major-Gen.’ Duke Emmanson (Niger Delta Fighters Network), and ‘Major-Gen.’ Inibeghe Adams (Niger Delta Freedom Mandate).

They also warned all the companies operating such oil blocs to quit within three months.

The group said: “A coalition of the Niger Delta militants met today in Port Harcourt to review the recent call by the Arewa Youths groups that the Ndigbo should vacate all the Northern states within three months.

“We see the declaration by Arewa Youths as a declaration which the northern elders, leaders, political elite, security heads from the North and governors were fully aware of.


“We demand 100 per cent control of our resources. We demand that the Federal Government should hand over all oil blocs owned by northerners to Niger Delta indigenes. All the companies operating in such oil blocs/wells should vacate within three months.

“The Federal Government should immediately relocate NNPC and all the offices that have to do with oil/gas sector back to Niger Delta states and immediately replace the Group Managing Director with an indigene of Niger Delta.

“All northern indigenes working in NNPC and any other board that has anything to do with oil/gas should be sacked with immediate effect.

“We demand an independent and sovereign Republic of Niger Delta. We are tired of living with the North under Nigeria. We are tired of the President’s sentiments against  the Niger Delta people.

“The President can have time to receive the Chibok girls but could not have time to meet with the representatives of the Niger Delta agitators. Our money has been used to fund Boko Haram, a problem created by the Northerners in order to use it as conduit pipe to siphon the resources of Niger Delta.

“On October 1, 2017 we shall declare our independence come rain, come shine. We shall take our destiny in our hands and free ourselves from the slavery of the North as they are tired of one Nigeria.”
