A Ghanaian man, Festus, who was unable to convince immigration officials in Belgium that he is gay has finally been deported back to his country. Festus was seeking to stay permanently in Belgium because he is gay and he feared being killed or imprisoned if he returns back to Ghana. He had been battling deportation for about two years and in a bid to show that he is a gay man, he supplied picture evidence of himself with other men to the immigration authorities. However, after carefully reviewing his case, the immigration authorities decided to deport him for not being gay enough.

His Belgian boyfriend, Mr Jurgen Hendrickx is however, unhappy with the decision of the immigration authorities which has left him heart broken, Mr, Hendrickx, feared that his Ghanaian boyfriend may be hurt as homosexuality is illegal in Ghana. The Belgian man said he has been in a relationship with his Ghanaian lover for about two years and that they met through a dating App in the Belgian Capital, Antwerp.
