The national leader of APC, Chief Bola Tinubu (Jagaban), has lambasted Alhaji Atiku for daring to contest against President Buhari in 2019. Tinubu wondered why Atiku should attempt to return to power when he spent 8 years looting Nigeria from 1999 to 2007. Angry Tinubu said, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar does not deserve another shot at power because he blew his opportunity during his eight years reign under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. In his attack, Punch Newspaper quoted Tinubu as saying alhaji Atiku was blinded by greed thereby looting of billions of dollars pumped into the power sector during his reign as VP whilst overseeing the privatisation programme of President Obasanjo.

Whistle Times investigation shows that a section of Nigerians were alarmed at Tinubu’s remark considering the fact that Tinubu himself has been accused of high powered corruption from his time as Governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007 when Atiku was a Vice President. A Whistle Times insider said, Nigerian politicians know themselves in and out, they know who owns what and they also know the secret of their rivals. Hence, Tinubu might be speaking as an insider.

Between 2014 and early 2015, a high powered documentary of Tinubu’s asserts and corruption was exposed in the run up to the 2015 presidential elections. It was showed that Tinubu himself might not be any different from Alhaji Atiku. The video portrayed Tinubu as the biggest landlord of Lagos State, he was accused of acquiring some of the most juicy land and other properties of the state. Today, Tinubu is one of the richest politicians of our time as he owns several companies running into billions of Naira. Could Tinubu’s statement be described as the proverbial pot calling the kettle black?

A political analyst who spoke to Whistle Times pointed out that it would have been better if the accusation of corruption was coming from another politician, someone who does not have as much corruption allegations like the former Lagos State governor.

Nevertheless, Tinubu’s remark about Alhaji Atiku’s corruption cannot be ignored as the PDP candidate is the single most accused Nigerian politician of high powered corruption, this reputation has stayed with the PDP candidate for many years despite the fact that he has not been charged for corruption anywhere in the world in his life time.

In his remark, Tinubu said the upcoming presidential election as a contest between two opposing visions – “one seeking to better the lot of generality of Nigerians and one which has no regard for the public but seeks to return the country to the days of official malpractices and corruption.” The respected Tinubu was speaking after president Buhari appointed him as the chief APC presidential campaign manager.

Tinubu described his appointment by Buhari as a great honour, pledging that he and other members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, including the council’s Director General, Rotimi Amaechi, would not let the President down, as doing so would amount to letting the nation down.

https://whistletimes.com/2019/01/08/why-i-called-lagos-a-village-rotimi-amechi-to-lagos-governors/

In another twist to the now famous audio leaks of private conversations between the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amechi and journalists. The Minister blasted Lagos State as a glorified village. Amechi said, the city has no running water or roads. It was not clear why the minister picked on Lagos as a failed city as his statement could be interpreted as an indictment on all those who have governed Lagos in the last few years for their inability to provide the necessary infrastructures needed in the city.

Since 1999 when democracy returned to Nigeria, Lagos State has been governed by the ruling APC, hence, many Nigerians see the Ministers criticism as an indictment on Ashiwaju Tinubu, Babatunde Fashola and the incumbent governor, Ambode. For instance, quoting the Minister’s conversation, Daily Post Newspaper captioned their reportage of the leak conversation as “Amechi indict APC, Tinubu and Fashola as failures. Other Nigerian dailies had similar headlines.

It should be recalled that in an earlier released tape, the Minister acknowledge the fact that Nigeria has become riddled with poverty since President Buhari became Nigeria’s president. The tape was a shock to many as it showed that the ruling class actually know the true situation in the country despite their usual practices of praising President Buhari in public.
PoliticsAnother President Buhari’s Friend Joins Atiku by Idonmakeam(op): 11:21am On Jan 09, 2019
Many Nigerians will agree that if there is anyone who has become a thorn in Buhari’s camp, it is the president former best friend and long time ally, Buba Galadima, who is now a major voice for the PDP presidential candidate. Engineer Galadima was one of those who worked tirelessly for President Buhari during the 2015 elections. However, for some reasons, he was not carried along after the election. After waiting tirelessly on the president and after all efforts by the president’s wife to ensure that the president remembers some of his long term friends failed, Galadima dumped Buhari.

In a new development, a strategic partner of President Buhari who is not very much known nationally as he is a grassroots champion in the creeks of the Delta, AKA, Akpodoro (Eshanekpe Isreal), has officially join Atiku’s camp. Knowing that Isreal is a useful tool, the PDP immediately appointed him Zonal Coordinator, South South Youth Group, Whistle Times garthered that the latest addition to the Atiku family may weaken President Buhari’s re-election bid in Delta State.

An APC member told Whistle Times that the incumbent president is not concerned as it is believed that the president has performed above expectations across the country, in addition, he has an advantage as an incumbent President.

This is a powerful piece, every Nigerian must read.
PoliticsWhy Are Our Yoruba Brothers Supporting This Evil – Ebikapade Amasuomo by Idonmakeam(op):
As at December 2014, a few months before the general elections of 2015, it was already obvious to many that the Goodluck Jonathan regime was not the way forward due to high scale corruption and insecurity. Although it is on record that Nigeria grew tremendously in terms of economy and national prosperity, the growth at that time were not engineered by government propaganda or NBS reports.

Nigerians had food on their table, money in their pockets, fuel at cheaper rate, good exchange rate for international travellers and business men, above all the prices of food were moderate across the country. However, the then president exhibited some weaknesses in key areas; he was generous with the national treasury and many ambitious politicians ceased the opportunity to amass wealth for themselves and their friends, many built tens of mansions and acquired properties in every country they set their foot on. Furthermore, Bokoharam was out of control with multiple bombings every week. It therefore made sense that Nigerian wanted a change for the better. Although Jonathan himself may not have authorised money to be shared during his administration, however, he was the president and the buck stops at his table.

In order to correct the mistakes Jonathan made in office, President Buhari was voted in, unfortunately since he became a president, misfortune had become the nick name of Nigeria. Buhari has now been tried and tested and it is obvious that he has absolutely nothing to offer Nigeria, he has been demystified and seen for who he truly is. Younger generations of Nigerians are beginning to understand why history has it that Gen Idiagbon was the de facto president during Buhari’s military regime. Idiagbon was practically running the affairs of government at that time.

If President Buhari as a young man was a weak leader, why then should we expect more from him as an elderly man? We now understand why after his elections, he took six months to make cabinet appointments, we now understand why the economy was at a stand still for six months.

More than three years down the line, Nigerians have witness hunger at an alarming rate, it seemed as if the country was back to the 15th century all over again, the prices of goods sky rocketed. Exchange rate doubled overnight and dollar became exclusive the birth right of rich business men. The President told Nigerians that, we cannot continue to fund schools abroad by providing dollars to people seeking foreign degrees, he therefore cancelled the presidential scholarship programme for first class graduates. Amnesty scholarship recipients were unable to access funds for several months prompting their return to the country without certificates. Nevertheless, President Buhari’s three children were schooling in different institutions across the UK at the time.

The president provided dollars for pilgrimage to Israel and Mecca while many small scale businesses suffered due to scarcity of dollars, life was extremely hard for many ordinary Nigerians until the pressure became unbearable and the president eventually relaxed his dollar rule. Meanwhile Nigerians were still getting use to the new hardship, when petrol price suddenly jumped to almost double the price across the country and scarcity became the order of the day.

To make matters worst, Fulani herdsmen quickly replaced Boko Haram as the new terror group, today, the high rate of killings in the country is at an unprecedented level. More Nigerians have been killed by herdsmen under this regime than the number of people killed by Boko Haram under the previous government. At a point, news of herdsmen killings were on newspaper pages and social media every two days. Apart from the Herdsmen crisis, bandits were also massacring Nigerians in their hundred in Zamfara and along Abuja, Kadunna road. In the face of growing criticism, the president said, more people have been killed in Zamfara than Benue and Taraba put together, that was Mr Buhari’s defence. Today the life of an average Nigerian is cheaper than Tin Tomato, people are killed daily from either banditry, herdsmen, poverty, ritualist, kidnappers, armed robbers and road accidents.

President Buhari is yet to make any meaningful achievement in nearly four years instead he has made a record as the president to have witness the largest massacre of Nigerians in peace time. People are dying without any iota of concern from the president rather those who criticise the regime are witch hunted by agents of government. The president will usually be forced by Nigerians before making press statements, military deployment or visitation. Nigerians should remember that President Buhari is the president and the buck stops at his table, if the leadership of the country is too much headache for him then the right thing to do is to resign and allow us move on as a nation.

A recent international report, revealed that Nigeria have overtaken India to become the largest exporter of poverty in the world. Another international report earlier this weak, named Nigeria as the new capital of death by suicide.

It therefore grieves my heart to note that nine out of every ten supporter of this regime in Southern Nigeria is a Yoruba man. A southwest friend once told me that he will support Buhari in 2019 because key appointments were being occupied by Yoruba people, he cited Babatunde Fashola as an example. Another friend said, “I am supporting Buhari because of Tinubu” but my question is, what about the greater good of the nation? How can you keep your support for this evil simply because you believe that your ethnic group enjoys a cordial relationship with the president? An administration that refused to give you any important security position, a man who binned Tinubu immediately after the election, a man who is simply tolerating your ethnic group because of political calculations.

I am amazed that many Yoruba leaders are turning a blind eye to the killings by Fulani Herdsmen across the country and the growing poverty in the land. I can understand the northern support for Buhari as ours is still an ethnic and religious democracy but I expect better from the Yoruba race given the high level of education and modernisation in the southwest.

Although it should be pointed out that many Yoruba leaders have rejected Buhari, having seen him for who he truly is (a severely weak leader), however, an overwhelming majority of southwestern electorate and ordinary Yoruba youth are preparing to repeat the mistake of 2015. The middle belt section of the country voted for Buhari in 2015 but the story will be different in 2019, they have tried the president and have discovered that it was all propaganda, Nigerians now understand that indeed “talk is cheap”.

The result of the last presidential elections is the worst accident to have befallen Nigeria after the Biafra civil war. For no reason must we repeat the same mistake in 2019, as Obasanjo said in his letter, you cannot keep making the same mistake and expect a different result. A stitch in time saves nine.

PoliticsNigerian Police: Why The Barbaric Acts Will Continue by Idonmakeam(op): 12:15pm On Jul 08, 2018
Nigeria is gradually becoming impossible to live in, especially since 2015 when ‘evil’ officially decided to make Nigeria it home. Apart from the fact that Nigerians are so divided on ethnic and religious lines, it appears as though the government held a meeting where it was agreed that untold hardship be unleashed on the masses in the form of insecurity. It appears as if Fulani Herdsmen were suddenly unleashed on the Middle Belt and Southern axis of the country, it has never been this bad. In addition to the herdsmen crisis, every single item that is vital to sustenance of life in the country has quadrupled in price – petrol, rice, sugar, yam, garri to mention a few. Nigeria has never been this bad since 1961, more Nigerians have made their way to Lagos with the sole intention of jumping off any of the multiple bridges across the state than at any other time in our national history.

The Nigerian Police that ordinarily should be a peace making organisation, have particularly stood out notably amongst all the evils confronting the nation. Although, the Police have always stood out as one of the worst organisation in the country since independence but in recent times the rate of lawlessness, barbarism and brutality unleashed on Nigerians seem to be growing by the day. No day passes without a newspaper caption on accidental discharge, police brutality, bribery and cover up. No wonder in 2016, the World Internal Security and Police Index International, rated Nigerian Police as the worst in the world.

According to Premium Times, the 2016 report rates the Nigeria Police Force the “worst” globally in terms of its ability to handle internal security challenges. The report was released by the International Police Science Association, IPSA, and the Institute for Economics and Peace, a nonprofit organisation that brings together experts, researchers and scholars concerned with security work from all over the world.

The indices used in accessing 127 countries from four key areas, namely, capacity, process, legitimacy and outcomes, aim to measure the ability of the security apparatus within a country to respond to internal security challenges, both now and in future. Nigeria police performed worst on the index on all the four domains, with a score of 0.255 ranked 127 below Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Uganda and Pakistan.

As expected, the Police Authorities in Nigeria condemned the report rather than investigate the findings with a view to finding lasting solutions and inculcate discipline in the police force.

Only a few days ago, a policeman shot to death, a female youth corp member celebrating her completion of the compulsory one year NYSC exercise. The young lady, Nkechi Igwetu was heading out to a party with her male friends when officers opened fire at their vehicle, leaving her critically wounded. Eye witness report was that the shooting occurred around Cedi Plaza in Central Area at about 3:00 a.m., the lady eventually bleed to death at General Hospital, Garki where hospital staff refused to treat her.

Only a few days ago, information circulated online stated that a young student, Richard Peter Gora was beaten to death by police officers for purchasing a stolen phone for 10,000 Naira, the young man was reported to have died in police custody shortly after he was arrested. Earlier last week, a video emerged online where police men were seen hitting a young lawyer, Olakunle Kareem for demanding to be paid for services rendered after a disagreement with his employer. In the video, the police officers were seen repeatedly hitting the young man, while attempting to arrest him, a practice which is typical of an arrest scenario by Nigerian Police, people will usually be slapped, beaten or stripped naked before arrest.

The reason why Nigerian Police brutality and their barbaric acts towards civilians will continue for many years to come is because members of the National Assembly, who ordinarily should have made laws to prohibit the continued practice of police officers hitting civilians have refused to do that which is required of them. Many National Assembly members do not feel the pains of ordinary Nigerians due to the privilege position they occupy, hence, their family and friends seem to enjoy some sort of immunity against police harassment. It is therefore, the responsibility of Nigerians to ensure that those who represent them at the National Assembly are those that are easily approachable, people who can feel their pain and sympathise with them when the need arise. Nigerians must now stand up and demand for a better police force through an act of legislation which must attach a minimum prison term to any form of police brutality towards civilians.

Nigerians are having a terrible time, especially in the last few years, life has been extremely difficult for the vast majority of Nigerians with the exception of those in politics. Whilst herdsmen are relentless in their massacre, extreme hunger, poverty, general insecurity have become a norm in the country. As if these issues are not bad enough, right this minute as you read this article, thousands of Nigerian girls are living and working under horrendous conditions in the Middle East and North Africa where their Arab hosts, enslave them under unbelievable conditions without pay.

The internet is inundated with heart breaking stories of African girls from Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia and others currently being held in Arab homes as domestic and sex slaves. Many of these girls do not return from those Arab countries alive. They are killed and buried in shallow graves and their stories are never told.

The authorities in those countries turn a blind eye on the modern day slavery going on in their domain as Africans are more or less regarded as slaves unworthy of sitting on the same table with an Arab person. The inhuman treatments are not only restricted to Africans, many people may still recall the viral story of an Indian domestic worker in Saudi Arabia whose right hand was chopped off by her employer. The India woman had managed to phone her family back in India informing them of the terrible maltreatment she was going through in the hands of her employer, when the Saudi house wife found out that ‘her’ slave had reported them to her family in India, she was infuriated and chopped off the domestic worker’s right hand. The Indian woman’s family said, the woman was not allowed to make phone calls and was often starved, in addition to several hours of non stop work everyday.

Many poor Nigerian ladies make their way to these Arab countries as a way of escaping the extreme poverty in the land.

Only last week, Vanguard Newspaper reported the story of Damilola Falodun, a 22-year old girl from Ekiti State, who was told by her Omani employers, “You are our property. We have bought you for two years and you don’t own yourself until you finish your contract”. She affirm that many girls are treated in a cruel manner and some die in the process while others become perpetual slaves to the masters. In addition to sexual harassment and violent physical attacks. Damilola said, she was desperate to return to Nigeria because stories of missing black girls or dead ones found on the streets became a daily occurrence. She added that the girls were often beaten to death, possible while trying to escape inhuman treatment or for refusing to be raped. Damilola’s story only got to the media because she was lucky to have been discovered by the Ooni of Ife, the truth is, there are thousands of Nigerian women with similar experience whose story will never make it to the media.

PoliticsWhy Adeyeye Quit PDP After Ekiti Governorship Primaries by Idonmakeam(op): 8:15am On May 14, 2018
The recently concluded PDP’s Gubernatorial primaries saw Adeyeye, former Minister of works polling only 771 votes out of the 1,986 cast while Fayose’s deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka got 1,190 votes. Mr Dayo Adeyeye, after the primaries announced his defection to a yet to be named party in order to realise his ambition of providing rapid development in Ekiti State.

Mr Adeyeye left the party primarily because he believes that Dr. Fayose influenced the outcome of the elections in favour of his deputy. Adeyeye said he would announce his new party within the coming days, stressing that no fewer than five parties had offered him their platforms to contest the July 14 governorship election in the state.

Reacting angrily on the outcome of the primaries, Mr Adeyeye lashed out on Governor Fayose raining insults and curses on the governor. According to The Guardian Newspaper, Fayose said, “I called Adeyeye twice and on each occasion, he rained curses on me and would not even listen to what I had to say. He said I should never call him again. But I am not afraid of the curses, because I know that I have not done anything to warrant that, or for the curses to have any effect on me. He said he would fight me with everything he has. But, “I am Peter the rock nobody can fight me.

“By the constitution of our party, I have the right to support anybody for a position, just like I have the right to vote for anybody during elections. I did not hide my preference for my deputy among those seeking to succeed me as governor in our party; so, I was surprised at his reaction.”

The governor expressed concern at Adeyeye’s response, noting: “If it was him that I supported for the position, would he have done that? The process through which our candidate emerged followed due process. Surprisingly, Mr Adeyeye denied raining curses on the governor.

During the concluded primaries, Mr Adeyeye had praised the process, affirming that he was happy with the exercise, hence, many Nigerians wonder why the former Minister was livid over the outcome of the same exercise he had earlier praised. Nigerian politicians generally seem to lack the spirit of sportsmanship. Hence, political observers in Nigeria will not be surprised that the popular politician was unhappy over his defeat by a lesser known state politician.

Jobs/VacanciesThe Controversial Police Recruitment Exercise From 774 Lga’s by Idonmakeam(op): 8:07am On May 14, 2018
The Nigerian Police was recently ordered by president Buhari to begin a recruitment exercise so as to beef up security across the country, this announcement was long expected for many reasons. Firstly, Nigerians across the country believe that the force is grossly under funded and lack the adequate workforce needed to effectively protect Nigerians from the numerous crimes that have taken over the entire country. Nigerian Policemen are overwhelmed with increasing crime rates of numerous dimensions, from fetish killings for money rituals, Fulani herdsmen killings, armed robberies, kidnapping, street fraud – yahoo boys, political thuggery, cultism, militancy amongst others. Hence, many Nigerians welcomed the moves to increase the numbers of policemen in the country. However, some analyst have questioned the rational behind the specific instructions by the president that the 6000 men to be recruited must be drawn from each local government areas across the country.

in making the announcement for the recruitment exercise, the president said, “I have approved the recruitment of 6,000 policemen by the police authorities and I directed that those recruited must come from all the 774 local government areas of the federation. “Even if it means recruiting one person each from the 776 they should do that instead of going to motor parks, railway stations or market for the recruitment exercise. According to Vanguard, the president, expressed reservation on the call for the establishment of state police as being advocated by state governors, said Nigerians must abide by constitutional provision in regard to the matter.

Some analyst pointed out that if the exercise is carried out from every LGA’s some southern states might be shortchanged as northern states are generally luckier than the south in terms of numbers of LGAs. Kano State for instance have 44 LGAs whilst Lagos State with all her population, mega city’s status and unofficially reputation as the most populous city in Nigeria has only 21 LGAs.

Whistle Times analyst pointed out that a senior analyst with TVC, Babajide Kolade-Otitoju wondered how balanced the exercise will be if people are to be recruited from all LGAs in the country. Babajide pointed out that, a state like Bayelsa for instance has only 8 LGAs while Kano has 44.

Invariably, states with more LGAs are likely to benefit more from the exercise than others. If that is the case, then northern states will produce the bulk of the 6000 recruits as they generally have more LGAs than their southern counterparts. However, it should be noted that the Federal Government had released a statement through the Acting Executive Chairman of Federal Character Commission (FCC), Dr. Shettima Bukar Abba, that no ethnic groups will predominance the recruitment exercise. According to Leadership Newspaper, Dr. Shettima Bukar Abba said, “there is need for Nigeria police force to respect the federal character principle in recruitments as that fostered national unity.” According to him, the best and most competent person shall be recruited from each state, he added that “the principle of federal character is to give everyone a sense of belonging. https://whistletimes.com/2018/05/12/police/

TravelRe: How To Move Permanently To Canada WITHOUT AN AGENT by Idonmakeam(op): 9:05am On May 13, 2018
Shalomc:
Nice work. But move to the main thread to learn.
I have been helping people so not learning, just sharing part of a write up.
TravelHow To Move Permanently To Canada WITHOUT AN AGENT by Idonmakeam(op):
I thought I should share my knowledge with people who may want to move to Canada in the nearest future. Most of the people I have helped with immigration applications have often argued that the process is cumbersome due to some technicalities involved in some immigration programmes, an assertion I find lazy. All that you need to sucessfully move to Australia, Canada, United State, New Zealand, the EU and other western countries is information and some MONEY. If you don’t have money, do not even attempt starting the process.

Most of the information needed to successfully process immigration applications are already in the public domain, however, information are often hidden by agents so as to maximise profit. Nevertheless, I will go ahead and share some of the basics to help you successfully complete your application yourself. I shall cover the most basic step in this article to help you prepare your application and then I will make a part 2 of the article to conclude my points. Note, this is only for Canadian Federal Express Entry Programme.

First Step

Register for your your English Language Proficiency Exams, there are various English Proficiency Certificates accepted by the Canadian Immigration Board:

IELTS – International English Language Testing System. To register with them, find a test location in your country, see the test fee or to contact them directly, visit their international website.

CELPIP – The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program. Visit, register or read about them on their site.

IELTS is a popular English Proficiency. However, people can register whichever one they like, there are other options, including French.

In order for you to move to Canada as a professional worker with a university degree, you will need to show that you can speak and write in English at an acceptable level. Someone may ask, what do you mean by an acceptable level? I will explain with an illustration using the most difficult section of the test – READING. IELTS for example score people based on a 9 point scale, you are advice to score at least 6 point, see table below. The exams are usually whatever you score over 40 (instead of in percentage). Please view the table one the site as it isn't showing clearly here on NL

Band Score 9 8.5 8 7.5 7 6.5 6 5.5 5 4.5 4 3.5 3 2.5
Score /40 40 39 37-38 36 34-35 32- 33 30-32 27- 29 23-26 19- 22 15-18 12- 14 9-11 6 – 8
Scoring Scale for Reading (IELTS General).

The exam is divided into three sections with each having its own score:

Writing
Reading
Listening
Speaking
Generally to make at least 6 point in most of the above sections, you will need to score 25 out of 40 (Except in READING where a slightly higher point is required as shown in the table above). For most Africans, scores are issued on a percentage scale, hence, people often get confused as to what exactly is expected of them, hence, we shall convert the minimum required point 6 to percentage. Since, 25 over 40 will give you a 6 points then in percentage:

x = 25/40.
x = 0.625.
Change the decimal number 0.625 to a percent. x = 62.5%. Therefore you will need to score at least 63% (Except in READING, see table above).

An important point to note is that, the higher your English score, the better your chances of going through successfully. The Express Entry Programme award a maximum of 24 points for English proficiency, that means if you are able to score 8.5 – 9 points in all your English abilities – writing, reading, listening and speaking, you will be awarded the maximum score of 24 points for English whereas someone with an all round 6 points in English abilities maybe awarded 13, just as an example. Therefore, aim to score as high as possible. The test is not as difficult as people think as any average student could easily score between 6 and 8.5 or even 9 in the various sections of the test. I will leave English at this point.

Lol, critics.
PoliticsHow Opposition Votes Will Be Shared Due To Obasanjo’s Failure To Adopt PDP/SDP by Idonmakeam(op):
It is no longer news that the much awaited coalition between Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the SDP headed by Chief Olu Falae has failed. What many Nigerians do not know however is that the coalition which could have given president Buhari’s APC a difficult time failed due to greed and ego of Nigerian politicians. As expected, the parties involved could not reach an understanding to save the nation from Fulani herdsmen killings possibly due to negotiations as to who get what. Punch Newspaper revealed that both parties could not agree on the modalities and strategies for the 2019 polls, in order words – who will produce the president, vice and other vital positions.

As a result of the failed negotiations, a high powered meeting was held by members of the Nigerian Intervention Movement, the Coalition for Nigeria Movement and other concerned groups in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Prominent attendees at the meeting included: former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who is the Chairman of the CNM; Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) and Dr. Abdujalil Tafawa-Balewa; and a former Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Idi Faruk.

It was agreed by Chief Obasanjo and his team that the coalition should adopt ADP, a relatively unknown party ahead of 2019. According to The Cable, Chief Oyinlola while announcing the move said the decision to move in to ADP is “an appreciation of the progressive essence of the party and its untainted existence on the terrain of our nation’s politics.” He said Nigerians should expect more from the movement, describing the fusion as “the first in a multi-layered action plan to give back the country to its much deprived people.”

Whistle Times gathered that former president Olusegun Obasanjo refused suggestions from members of his coalition that a strong party such as the PDP be adopted. It appears that the former president does not want to be seen as a man who goes back on his words after publicly rejecting the PDP.

With the latest move, Whistle Times can exclusively report that all is now set for president Buhari to win a landslide victory in 2019 as it is obvious to many political observers that the ADP and Obasanjo’s coalition would struggle to win a governorship seat talk more of the presidency. The coalition and ADP do not have the massive followership that the PDP enjoys as the second largest party in the country. The adoption of Olu Falae’s party would have created a massive impact much more than the ADP whilst a grand coalition with the PDP could have made it impossible for the APC to win in 2019.

It should be recalled that Chief Obasanjo earlier in March announced that his coalition has about 3 million members, this is more or less the voting population of one northern state alone – Kano. The bitter truth is that the ADP as a party do not have up to 500,000 registered members, hence, it is yet to be seen how the ADP and Obasanjo’s coalition can win president Buhari when Kano State alone with her massive underage voters strength can guarantee almost 3 million votes for president Buhari in 2019.

The refusal of Obasanjo to work with formidable organisations that are already on ground implies that opposition votes will now be divided between ADP, PDP and to a lesser degree SDP. Meanwhile president Buhari’s block northern vote in addition to the massive support the president enjoys from underage Kano kids, he is is already assured of victory in the north even before the elections. The president is also likely to get nothing less than 45-50% of South West vote due to the popularity of the APC in the South West.

By implication therefore, all is now set for the president to win the North East, North West, 45-50% of South West, Muslim states in the Middle Belt – Niger, 50% from Kwara and Kogi. While key opposition parti

As reactions continues to pour in after Present Buhari’s declaration. Ebikapade Amasuomo, a researcher and co-founder of Africa Future Matters has called on President Buhari to shelved the idea of seeking re-election in 2019. Amasuomo said:

Former President Obasanjo brought some level of stability to Nigeria between 1999 and 2007. Nigeria grew under his administration and the nation made enormous progress. The many years of military rule pre 1999, had seen Nigeria heavily indebted to international lenders such as the Paris Club and World Bank. Baba Iyabo quickly got to work after he was sworn in, he invited Nigerian technocrats from far and wide to help move the economy forward. Around mid 2006, the tremendous work by Obasanjo’s economic team had paid off, Nigeria secured a debt pardon of over 50% while the remaining debt was paid off in full (Paris Club).

Nigeria attracted enormous international investment under Obasanjo. The former President attracted respect and admiration from the international community. High profile foreign Heads of States including: the then President of the United States, Bill Clinton; then British Prime Minister, Tony Blair; Japanese Prime Minister, Yoshiro Mori; President of the World Bank and IMF, all visited Nigeria. Nigeria held world events such as: All Africa Games, Miss World, African Cup of Nations. People were proud to be Nigerians once again. Multiple airlines were jostling for Nigeria’s airspace. Nigerians welcomed the Internet and cell phone operation.

Ebikapade Amasuomo added that, although Yar’Adua was sickly, the man demonstrated love for the country. Militancy in the Niger Delta was rife, a problem he inherited from Obasanjo, rather than dwell forever on blame games, he got on with the job of finding a lasting solution. He declared amnesty and pressured Niger Delta leaders to convince their folks into accepting amnesty, the programme was a success and Nigeria did well economically.

Jonathan took over and despite allegations of corruption, Nigeria and Nigerians prospered. The nation became the biggest economy in Africa, ordinary Nigerians had food on their table. workers minimum wage was increased to 18,000 Naira. There were multiple scholarships for indigent students. Nigeria witness an unprecedented influx of foreign investors including several automakers. Farmers were encouraged with loans and fertilisers, Youths were supported with entrepreneurial schemes. Almajiris were taken off the streets. There were multiple rail projects, airports remodelling across the country. Nigerian Navy built its first locally made defence ship. Markets women were happy, Nigeria became the happiest nation in the world. Nigerians bought fuel cheaply in petrol stations, there were less armed robberies and kidnapping. People slept with their two eyes closed, apart from the northeast where Boko Haram was allowed to fester. The Jonathan administration was far from perfect but Nigerians now long for those days.

Between 29th of May, 2015 and December of the same year, President Buhari had managed to reverse all gains made under Obasanjo, Yar’Adua and Jonathan. Fulani herdsmen are now the fastest killers of Nigerians, herdsmen conduct their killing business with complete immunity. The president’s economic policies and body language drove foreign investors out of the country. Terrible policies aimed at restricting dollar transactions made life unbearable for Nigerians and businessmen whilst at the same time, dollars were released for christian and muslim pilgrimage. Students intending to travel abroad for studies could not do so due to lack of forex.

The so called fight against corruption is restricted to members of the main opposition party. Medical tourism is now the order of the day. Exchange rates has increased by over 50%. Petrol scarcity still lingers and even when products becomes available, Nigerians pay much more than the official price. Boko Haram terrorist are waxing stronger. Nigerians now take their own lives due to hunger, armed robbers are more daring than ever before, kidnapping is on the rise.

Nothing is working under this administration. Nigerians are fleeing their country at an unprecedented rate. Ask a Nigerian for money, their reply “under this Buhari’s Government” as if to suggest that this is the worsts they have seen in decades. IDPs are completely at the mercy of international organisations, they have been completely abandoned by the government of the day. The list of reasons why president Buhari shouldn’t seek re-election are endless.

The only visible achievement of this administration include: the release of Dapchi and Chibok girls and encouragement to farmers. Any sane Nigerian who wishes to look beyond ethnic sentiment will completely agree with me that since the return of democracy in 1999, President Buhari’s administration has been the worst.

We must embrace the truth as a nation, all the points raised above are visible facts that cannot be disputed as at today. It is a pity that the average northerner cannot look beyond ethnic and religious sentiment. It beats my imagination why anyone should be rooting for president Buhari after all the pain and suffering unleashed on Nigerians.

We need a progressive minded president irrespective of tribe, ethnicity and religion. If another northerner is elected and he performs brilliantly, Nigerians will care less, if he seeks re-election. All we are asking for, is a president that will turn Nigeria into a large scale construction site. A president that will build 10 lane roads; massive railway infrastructure; massive funds into Nigerian universities; earmark enormous funds into research, innovation, engineering and IT. Nigeria needs a progressive minded president. We need to start making giant stride as a nation, we need to move forward, respected and recognised on the world stage. We need the best that Nigeria can offer at this point in time, that person is not President Buhari. It is a common saying that you can only give what you have, our beloved President does not have what it takes to take Nigeria to the next level. He has clearly performed below expectation in his first term, he his unlikely to do better even if given a tenth term.

God bless Nigeria and Nigerians.
