Back then, Chelsea supporters are rather conflicted by Frank Lampard at the moment. He has scored four goals for Manchester City this Premier League campaign after leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, securing four points for the club in direct competition with Chelsea for league supremacy. Were he a passing player in the team's annals, his move and performances might be less painful. However, as the Englishman's name is scattered across the Chelsea record books like new year's confetti, every goal he scores for the Citizens is tantamount to torture for those in west London. Some people just straight up don’t like each other, but you don’t often expect them to be on the same team. That was certainly the case with former French teammates Eric Cantona and Didier Deschamps, whose feud has continued up until the present day. The enigmatic Manchester United legend once called Deschamps a “vulgar water carrier”, a moniker that has stuck to the French manager ever since, as well as a “muppet”.The pair fell out numerous times over the nineties and it’s evident the bad blood still exists. Just last week Deschamps had a defamation case against his compatriot ruled inadmissible in court. Deschamps sued Cantona after he appeared to suggest that Karim Benzema and Hatem Ben Arfa were left out of France’s Euro 2016 squad because of their African origin. The Paris court ruled that the complaint did not meet the standard for defamation. Evidently, the two men will never see eye to eye, but they’re not the only former colleagues who couldn’t get along. There have been some infamous teammate feuds over the years. Just a matter of months ago Arsenal fans were delighted following the announcement of a new contract for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the club captain ending speculation over his future by penning a new mega-money deal to remain at the Emirates.Aubameyang had starred as one of the finest forwards in the Premier League since arriving at Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in a then club-record deal, with the Gabon international having proven the inspiration behind the Gunners’ FA Cup triumph last season. It’s been a sorry state of affairs for both club and player since their big announcement in September, however, with Aubameyang having looked a shadow of his former self since putting pen to paper. The 31-year-old has scored just three league goals this season, not quite the return expected from a player recently rewarded with a new three-year deal worth a huge £55m.There’s still time for Aubameyang to rediscover his finest form but Premier League history is littered with players whose big-money deals proved massive mistakes. Here are five times Premier League clubs regretted giving players big-money contracts: CLICK ON THE LINK TO READ ALL: http:///s528ba244210123en_ng?client=news |
How do you define evil? I think it's different from just "mean" or someone who's a bully. To me, "evil" means someone who pretends to be one thing, usually sweet and kind and nice and selfless, and the whole time they are hiding the fact that they are cruel, selfish, manipulative, and will do whatever it takes to make sure that not only do they win, but the people around them lose.I also think they're absolutely very aware of their true self and they do whatever they can to try to hide it, oftentimes taking on the veneer of someone who's kind and generous and wonderful. The hard part is, we fall for this fake persona and it's usually hard to believe that the evil in this person is their true self. Football has a habit of offering up an unlikely tale, a story of rags to riches or overcoming sheer adversity. As much as the sport can be an art form, it's also a wonderful storybook, one that has more twists and turns than your average novel. It is often an unpredictable whirlwind, a form of entertainment that leaves us with anger and questions. Yet, at the same time, it is a joy to watch and provides us with some of the happiest moments we'll enjoy. When your team scores a last-minute winner, you feel on cloud nine. If they concede in the dying embers, it feels like the world itself is about to crash and burn. Unless you're a die-hard supporter of sports, you're unlikely to know what it means to be in that situation. Let us tell you for free, it's an absolute rollercoaster. Football, in its current form, isn't what it traditionally was. We have no fans in the stadiums and the game is being dominated by VAR, predominantly not for the greater good either. This Saturday, for example, we saw Liverpool have what they thought was a last-gasp winner against fierce rivals Everton ruled out for offside. The technology was to blame with replays showing he was apparently onside. Click on the link to read in full details http:///s2b17659210121en_ng?client=news |
