The Chris Giwa-led board of Nigeria Football Federation has taken charge as ruled by the judiciary, a member of the board, Yahaya Adama, said on Friday in Abuja.

Adama told newsmen at the Glass House secretariat of the NFF the board has returned to power as demanded by the court and was “ready to save the Nigerian game”.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Justice Ambrose Alagoa of the Federal High Court in Jos had on Thursday annulled the September 30 NFF elections in Warri.

One of Peoples Democratic Party Presidential aspirant and son of Nigeria’s First Republic Prime Minister, Dr. AbdulJhalil Balewa, has lambasted PDP leaders for endorsing President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole presidential candidate in 2015 election.

Balewa described Nigeria as the legendary Animal Farm where some animals are more equal than others.

He said Jonathan’s adoption by the PDP National Working Committee was nothing short of “exuberance of wrongdoers.”
While chatting with journalists on Friday in Abuja, he urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that every single person who feels he or she can deliver dividends of democracy to the people, is given a level playing ground.

He said, “This is about our country. We have had so many different things happening. We have gotten to a point that we have not been able to create institutions. I know that our democracy is supposed to be so young, especially this situation that we are in. But, without creating institutions, we will have no historical lineage.

“In democracy, everything that happens at the federal level, has to trickle down to the ward. Everybody needs to be able to have some recognition, whereby what happens at the Presidency should be repeated at the state level, at the governorship level and down to the ward.

“When you create some rules at the Presidency and you create another rule at the ward level, what do you think we are getting? We are getting Animal Farm, where some animals are more equal than others. That is not democracy. We need to have homogeneity.”

Balewa therefore advised the so-called powers-that-be in all political parties “and not just the PDP to look very closely at other democracies in the world.”

He added, “We do not need consensus candidacy, what we need is to be heard. Anyone that feels that he or she has something to give to this nation, should be allowed. I will want PDP to have a rethink over it. I am not conceding to any consensus arrangement. Let’s face the primaries.

A human rights group founded by former US President Jimmy Carter has closed its office in Egypt because of the restrictions on democratic rights.

The Northern leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Saturday said even though the purported ceasefire agreement between Boko Haram and the federal government was a welcome development, it still advises Nigerians to be cautious as it may well be an attempt by PDP-led Government to hoodwink Nigerians and create a false sense of security for political ends.

This was contained in a four- point resolution in a communiqué signed and issued by the deputy chairman of APC (North), Senator Lawal Shuaibu at the end of the stakeholders interactive meeting which held in Kaduna yesterday.

As I approach this topic I want to be careful so readers don’t get the whole essence of this write up, twisted. E no dey hard some people. Religion is a touchy subject for a lot of people and in my household it is generally not considered “polite conversation.”

For some, an attack on religion is an attack on their god or gods. I only wish to put down certain points or aspects of organized religion I’m not comfortable with, I am not questioning anyone’s belief in a personal god.
In Nigeria, religion has helped us to remain sane or else we all for donkolowith the way our environment is stifling us. Religion can give people a sense of community and make people feel welcomed. But life is never that simple sha. Kai! Oh lord.

In Nigeria especially, religion has turned a lot of my people into MUMU’s. Instead of learning to discern truth on their own and formulate their own mindset, they’re told how to think. These are the people engaged in ‘Mumugiousity’. For them Religion has turned them into group soul’s, sheep, cows and goat with their Shepherd as their pastors, who have erased their trust in their own intellect and gradually convinced them to put their trust in them(pastors) as the only true men of god, convincing them that without them they would be lost. A Texas college Tuesday issued an unconvincing apology for what it described as "incorrect information" after multiple international applicants received a rejection letter stating that "Navarro College is not accepting international students from countries with confirmed Ebola cases."
