bobnatlo: Don't mind them, they want us to die being subservient to them. We should use every means possible to develop just as they did and we will solve the attendant problems together... |

shervydman: We need to harness all available energy sources both renewable and non renewable sources to solve our energy/power problems. don't let the west continue to brainwash u that coal is a not clean energy source while America still powers 35% of it energy through coal. why didn't they close down all their coal plant at once and let us grow clean energy together. They are stopping u from powering ur plants with coal but they are still using it. We should also use coal to develop then we can later solve the problem of global warming together. |

It has shown that there is little correlation between population density and IGR. This is largely to the fact that most governments in those states aren't taking advantage of their population and drive poductivity. 1 Like |

nyben4eva: while many people in the south support true federalism because of crude oil resources which has more value at present. The south keep encouraging the North to go into farming, the last time I checked the south too there are arable lands unplowed so while can they do farming too. The disdvantages of true federalism are inherent in what u call the advantages.. 1. Incessant tribal war will increase cos there will always be minorities in those federating region e.g in Biafra, we will have igbos as majorities while the niger delta minority tribes as the minority, the igbos will have the population to always produce the regional governor at the detriment of the minorities, strife and chaos will start from there...same will be replicated in all regions cos we have over 250 tribes in nigeria 2. Rich states will become lazy cos of their resources.. 3. There will be serious migration to rich state from poorer states leading to crisis. There will be discrimination against citizens cos u might not get jobs if u aren't from that region 4. Xynophobic attacks will be on the rise cos foreigner (people from other region) might take over opportunities in those "rich region" and indigines will fight against them. 5. It will drive hate among various ethnic tribes cos of varying opportunities available to people of the same country especially with state of origin enshrined in our constitution. 6. It wil definitely lead to the break up of Nigeria. I believe most proponents of True federalism in the south in the context they are putting it want it because of selfishness and not national integration. They want it because it appears that they are at advantage. While I believe in restructuring and devolution of more power to the states, I am against the type of federalism that most southern are proposing cos it will eventually lead to war and breakup of the country. It is either we hold a referendum to break up now peacefully or we stay together and restructure but not restructure into regions that wil eventually lead to chaos and war. 3 Likes 1 Share |

amedave:This is the most reasonable comment I have heard from a SS/SE person for a long time. Instead of stating the obvious and holding their leaders accountable for their ordeals, the are here blaming every other person but themselves. It is only an irresponsible man that keep blaming every one else for his failures 6 Likes |

Most commentators on nairaland have refused to avail themselves of adequate information about issue before commenting. Nigeria considering it's present economic state has no need for new airports anywhere in the country. of all the existing airports, statistics have shown that only 3 are economically viable and sustainable. so why should they continue wasting taxpayers money on projects that aren't sustainable. Instead of those states forming regional collaboration to open their states by building high speed rail across their state that will be affordable and sustainable at the long run. Airports in ibadan, Akure, Benin, ilorin have not shown any sign of economic viability. Furthermore, considering the present purchasing power of a typical Nigerian, how many people have enough purchasing power to fly instead of boarding bus... Proper planning and critical analysis ought to have carried out before constructing huge projects and not just scoring political points at the detriment of more important areas of national life. 6 Likes 1 Share |

duni04: Like we are enjoying on diesel that has been fully deregulated..? You guys have forgotten that diesel is fully deregulated and the price/litre has refused to go below N150 per litre....Naa subsidy cause that one too.... We are taking about corruption and ineptitude of government, u are finding excuses for them. Instead of speaking out against this malady we are playing sentimental politics with our future and that of our children... All i think is that we need change of guard..... 1 Like |

FearGodinall: I am seriously disturb with this generation of young people we have. Young people who places sentiments over objective reasoning, mediocrity over merit all in the name of ethnicity and religion, young people that talk before thinking. It is a shame!!! Are these the so called leaders of tomorrow ......... Instead of coming to display ur ignorance here, why don't you use sometime to study how nations like USA, Singapore or even a city like dubai developed rapidly in few years. 3 Likes 1 Share |

gsalvatore:For people like u who have placed ethnic sentiments over merit and objectivity one does not need to engage in fruitless argument, all i just have to tell u is that this nation is not working and we need the best whether old or young, from the south, north or east.... Let's put competence and integrity over ethnicity and religion. Ethnicity and religiosity will only breed mediocrity and subsequently lead to a failed nation. We need our best brains to fix this nation and i am sorry to say this we deserve better than GEJ 1 Like |

Raiders: Read this and make your judgements WHO IS AFRAID OF BUHARI? I write this because of millions of Nigerians who are below 30 and who constitute a significant chunk of our voting population. This is the ICT generation that is largely ignorant about the events of the Buhari era (1983-85) and so can be misinformed and misled by needless propaganda. I have sat with many in the under-30 bracket and those slightly above who only have faint recollections of the Buhari era and the level of ignorance about that era is amazing. Before being MILITARY Head of State, Buhari had been Governor of one of the Northern States (under Obasanjo’s Military government) as well as Minister for Petroleum. He later served as Chairman of PTF under Abacha. Please consider the following unassailable facts: ·He birthed and supervised the establishment of our existing refineries. ·There was no religious crisis while he was Head of State. It started under his successor IBB! ·In his time as Head of State he reduced inflation from 23% to 4%, by fiscal discipline and a homegrown economic team (not achieved under any other era, even military). ·JJ Rawlings of Ghana took over 2yrs before him, and killed all the corrupt leaders, while Buhari only sentenced the corrupt leaders here to prison. ·Under his watch as PTF Chairman, what he did in road construction in that short period hasn't been matched by 12yrs of the PDP. ·Hospitals and universities around the country never witnessed as much benefits as they got from the PTF from any government after or before his time. ·Despite serving in senior capacity in the oil sector, first as Minister for Petroleum and then Petroleum Trust Fund, Buhari has no petrol station, much less a rig, refinery or an oil block like so many of our leaders. ·He could have retired into nauseating opulence like an IBB or Danjuma or even OBJ but didn't. ·Instead of hobnobbing with the high and mighty, he has cast his lot with the ordinary man most of who follow him out of hope and belief in his values. People who know him have said of him... "All I need from Buhari is his word, I can take it to the bank". ·He is the only politician in the North today who fills rallies without renting a crowd. The Kaduna rally of 2nd March is eloquent proof! ·He refused to collect an allowance while serving as Chairman of the PTF because he said since he was already drawing a pension from government, his conscience would not allow him to draw another salary from the purse of the same government. ·He is the only former head of state that does not own property or land in Abuja . ·Every attempt to rubbish him through probes in time past eneded up vindicating him! The man who was asked by OBJ to take over the running of PTF before it was scrapped with the aim of probing and indicting Buhari, was the one who ended up being prosecuted for misappropriating $100m of PTF funds! Buhari again, was vindicated ·He has OPENLY challenged those who accuse him of religious fundamentalism to come out and show proof. No one has till today, taken up the challenge. His personal driver of many years is a Christian from Plateau State ! ·His government initiated the War Against Indiscipline that has made environmental cleanliness, queuing up, not urinating by the roadside etc features of our national life even till today Does it then surprise you why corrupt people would be spreading such heinous rumours about Buhari? He is a threat to them and they know what he is capable of doing to corruption and corrupt people when he comes into office! So shine your eyes and make the right decision. If honesty and probity are the things you want for Nigeria ,now is the time to choose right. When you cast your vote for the BUHARI, you would have cast one vote for a honest men. Now that you know better, will you please educate another person BY FORWARDING THIS TO AS MANY AS YOU CAN?? 15 Likes 6 Shares |

PEREP: I am disappointed with my so called ekiti people, has foyose hypnotized u all that ur sense of reasoning has suddenly left you or just blind love and plain stupidity for him. That you won an election landslide in all local governments in the state is no mean fit but it not new too. however, the incumbent or his party has the right to challenge the outcome in the court of law if they felt unsatisfied or aggrieved same happened in anambra, same Is happening in Osun. So i don't see any reason in this world why u should now take laws in your hands even if the judge is baised as you think, there is room for appeal even to the highest court in the land; the supreme court. Desecrating the most respectable arm of government is not only barbaric but animalistic and stupid by anyone and anyone encouraging it for what ever ulterior reasons should be sent to the games reserves to live with the wild animals where jungle justice is law......... I pray that one day we will be able to put objective reasoning above sentimental and primordial thinking......... Ekiti ro nu ooooooo 5 Likes |

LivingSoul34: There is nothing to celebrate there. We have to stop deceiving ourselves. 350,000 naira for tuition may be outstageous but i do not see how 25,000 will be enough to provide quality university education for anybody anywhere in the world. The stark reality is that what you pay for is what you get. You don't pay 25,000 naira for university education in 2014 and expect to get world class education. Some persons may call me names here but if we are sincere to ourselves we all know that our Universities are nothing to writing about, and to improve the standard of education in these universities students need to pay money. If we need real universities like the ones in some other countries that will produce graduates that can hold their own against their counterparts from the best universities in the world then we don't have to be talking of 25,000 naira which is about 160 usd as tuition fee... Before you begin to call me names, i know that every parent cannot afford huge tuition fees but its the same all over the world and that is why the government and other stakeholders which include students union leaders, parents, etc need to sit down and come up with scholarship and students' loan funds/scheme for assist students as many students ( if not all) will need one of the two or both. This is how it is being done in other countries. It is a shame we find ourselves in this situation where people are suffering from mental poverty. It baffles me when we shout that nigeria is not developed like the western countries and we want to continue with our backward thinking. Tell me how can u compare a N25000 education to that of N5 million. Most of those shouting against the increment as if they really love the People are doing it all because of their pocket and power. We need to sit and design a workable educational framework that will provide for the less privilege in terms of scholarship and loan. N25000 cannot give u quality secondary education let alone university education.....let's stop deceiving out self 3 Likes |

RE: Nigeria in 2014: Fact Versus Fiction by Reno Omokri? – Babaolowo Oderinlo As much as I would love to agree with Reno that his claims are valid, even if it is just a tad valid, I am sure his outburst is not for the sake of many.impoverished and suffering Nigerians caught in the middle of politicking and the deception games of Nigerian politicians. I read and understood every line of this long epistle about APC and PDP, but to what end is his arguments? To garner support for GEJ in 2015 or to pre-inform us that both parties APC and PDP is still the same team? We already know so we can seek a presidential candidate from Mars. My grandma is rumoured to be 128 years old, we have facts to back that up but no documents, the deductions was made from the age of her last sibling who died 11years ago at the age of 92. He had a recorded birth so we knew how old he was when he passed on but I don’t think it was the improvement on life by GEJ recorded at 52years which is light years away from 128 that has kept my sweet grandma alive. How come it is only ABC transport that saw the roads built by GEJ? Who attends the new universities andwhere do the graduates go to work after they graduate from them? I heard something about the railway and am sure Reno has been to Kano or Kaduna recently, did he patronize the railroads or used a private jet? What is the outcome of the privatization of NEPA so far…more blackout and less responsibility for the Nigerian government? Tony Elemelu must be smiling somewhere right now I have lost more female friends to childbirth in the last 3 years of my life, none in the preceding 7 years before 2010 and I’ve had so many God children, the oldest will be 10 this November so my friends didn’t just start giving birth all of a sudden, I wonder where Reno got his doctored child birth mortality index from? I remember a hailing coach Tella won the cadet competition under a sickly president Yar Adua so I will assume our GEJ is sick somehow, physically or upstairs if that’s what he’s got to show as a promise kept. Reno should get his facts right, heart surgery had been carried out in LASUTH since the day of Yar Adua and even CNN knows. How come the first was in 2013 when Dr. Bode Falase confirmed 13 success stories as at March 2010 here in Lagos state on LASUTH facility. Here is a link to the news in 2010 march health journal. http:// nigerianhealthjournal.com/?p=123 Abeg we need fresher lies. Reno claims “3 Million Jobs Have Been Created in the Agriculture Value Chain Since 2011″, lies from the pit of PDP. Even plus the cows that pulls the plow in Jigawa and Yobe, there is no way in hell 100,000 jobs had been created in those years. All agricultural installations in Nigeria combined has not produced even 1 million bags of produce (rice, beans, millet, wheat and everything combined) not even 1 million livestock so it’s impossible for 3 million people in the agricultural system to be so under productive, even a chicken lays more eggs. I know it is just a barrage on APC by PDP to parade their inconsistencies, but this in no way justifies the demonic, unproductive, ill-fated, chauvinistic, disgusting, incongruous show the PDP as given Nigerians in the last 14years. Permit me to say that will all the evidences of corruption thrown in our eyes daily, from the Farouk Lawan’s of committee on subsidy thieves vs Otedola aka Okonjo Eweala’s “cartel”, to the Diezani Alison-Madueke pyramid, to the recent bullet proof BMW, the only conviction the EFCC as managed to get is against a LAUTECH 24years old yahoo boy… That should have shown with a shinning light on GEJ’s anti-corruption campaign dossier. Here is a SaharaReporter’s report on the case EFCC or GEJ needs something to reference http://saharareporters.com/ press-release/efcc-press-release- court-jails-undergraduate-3-years- love-scam or probably borrow from Linda Ikeji http:// lindaikeji..com/2013/01/ mercedes-benz-suv-range-rover- sport.html I don’t think they got conviction for this one yet though, but Reno should have included it in PDP/ GEJ’s defense. The truth is definitely staring us in the eyes because we see it daily, men like Reno should be stoned at sight for coming out to point crooked fingers at crooks like him. I wonder how such men wake up in the morning and look at their own children, hoping that someday something good will come out of their mottled investments… Maybe we should start ignoring this our politicians so that they will know the show is over already, we should start working on us and allow them fall by their own counsel. Our anger and discontent should be transmuted into ideas on how to encourage, empower and strengthen the youths and young powers out there on the streets that knows nothing about Linda Ikeji, Babatunde Rosanwo, Sahara Reporters or even Blogs, Facebook or Twitter but determines who win or lose in every election by virtue of strength, number and force. These youths are worse than unknown soldiers, impatient enough to ever send a text, whose use of a phone is for calls and calls alone. Young Nigerians by nature but of a different breed by nurture and torture. Youths whose only experience or feeling as been either hunger or anger, who only understand the universal language money and will do the bidding of who ever brings it their way, saint or sinner. We see them every day and look at them with disdain because they are hardened and unkempt and the stench of “ paraga ” and “ alomo ” that fills their breathe wouldn’t make even allow us looking in the direction of their burnt brown wry smile. Men like Tinubu, OBJ, GEJ and Co control the men that control this youths and a man like Jagaban even wields more control because he’s closer and even walks their mist when the occasion calls for it. We call them “ Eru-Iku” (Death’s slaves) here in Lagos, they are bred in thousands in northern Nigeria through the Almajiri system and finer classrooms will not change the products, the South definitely has a pseudo for this machineries and a Dokubo should know the word the East is not without them too because hunger and anger is universal in Nigeria courtesy past rulership and PDP’s continuity of a legacy of decay and destruction. While we are here on twitter and BBM monitoring the elections or ranting away at the ills of the ailing government and rulers in power, they are out there snatching ballot boxes in the name of PDP, APGA, APC and any other “P” you can think of, or rather hoping to win big at the lotto stand not interested in whether it’s a leader or ruler, productive or as dormant as Olumo rock. While we are few and learned, existing more powerfully in this virtual world of the internet, they are plenty, many and more than the numbers of the sand at the beach, real and ready to die for 1000 naira because they have not much to live for. The good news is whoever brings food and money first wins their loyalty, who ever brings value to the table first in any form controls their action. I know this much because I came from the real world, “Dagrin” called it dirty Lagos and I know there is a dirty, Abuja, Rivers, Kano, Kaduna and even New York… but unlike the dirty NY, the numbers are unfavorable here in Nigeria, the dirty is a million times more than the Lekki Lagos but can be managed and controlled with less millions than Lekki requires and with more value propositions if properly planned. After all, it is hunger and not bad roads that breeds the anger so with filled bellies, even the roughest terrain will seem a bit more pleasant to walk. My goals are set and I am not planning to do it alone, but will do it alone if that’s the only way. My target is the street not Tinubu and he will never have the level of loyalty I have earned on the streets of Ipaja and given more, I will be stronger than clueless GEJ clones running my LCDA. My plan is to work more with the strength of the street and use it to ensure that it is who we vote for that sits on the throne and not who they pay for. With time and better hold on the forces that really and truly determines the success of every election on the street, we will be able to influence who is selected to represent from a party and in the nearest future we will hopefully have a level playing where those will genuine interest will be elected at primaries and not selected. As for me, my target is the foundation, and with time we will build strong walls and get to the point where the roof will not just be a shinny sheet, but a layer that protects and shields the populace from the storm along with a wall of credible people in the different arms and level of leadership and government. Our nation is the hardware, the people are the firmware and the core of the people is the software. My aim is to write a rich software that is generic and structured backend and a simple, secured algorithm that will be self upgrading with time, knowledge and civilization and probably requires only a few patches being run as it is perfected across generations. 5 Likes |

APC knew that it will be difficult to win an ethnic nation where tribal sentiments is placed above competence and ability. It is just a pointer that APC should forget SS and SE, and concentrate on a set of people ready for change. APC can still win 2015 without these ethnic bigots |
