The Whistle earlier reported an attack on President Jonathan’s entourage in Bauchi thursday, as the President continues in his campaigns for the 2015 Presidential Elections. We have gathered that Six operatives of the Department of State Security, DSS attached to the President were hospitalized after sustaining varying degrees of injuries from the attack on the PDP Presidential campaign entourage with Jonathan in view.

The President met a hostile crowd, with brooms and stones both on the road and at the rally venue. As in our earlier report, the situation spiraled out of control as Jonathan’s convoy entered the Ibrahim Babangida Square for the rally, the hostile youths started throwing stones at the convoy. It took the intervention of security men on ground to chase the youths away and reduce the impact of their actions even though some vehicles in the convoy had little scars.

The violent youths who had been chased out by security men, made their way back inside as the President’s convoy was leaving the rally venue. They attacked the last bus on the convoy which contained the DSS operatives with a big stone which smashed the windscreen and caused injuries for the occupants. While four of them who only needed minor treatment were discharged immediately, another two, a lady and a man who had deep cuts on their heads were seriously injured and will be flown to abuja immediately for operations.

TECNO Mobile’s Deputy General Manager, Nigeria, Mr. Chidi Okonkwo, has been quoted in an interview with the Vanguard as saying that the company’s phone manufacturing plant in Nigeria will likely be ready and devices begin to be manufactured before the end of the year.

Here are excerpts from the interview:

We are building both manufacturing and assembling plant. By the time we complete the first phase we should be able to start manufacturing and assembling TECNO phones in Nigeria. Don’t forget that we are still at the pre-investment stage right now and we are collating all sorts of information to help us accomplish this.

We have been working on this since last year. We have already secured the land and have started preparing the site at Epe in Lagos here where it is located and we have to go through to get the necessary approvals. We are making sure that we get everything ready to make sure that this project comes to fruition.

It is expected that once the first phase of the plant is completed in the third or fourth quarter, we will have the first batch of made in Nigeria TECNO phones.

JOHESU REPORT ON THE OUTCOME OF MEETING WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

The meeting with the Federal Government ended with the Government, asking the JOHESU to give government till the end of the Month to implement the agreement.

On adjustment of salary, the Committee submitted its report with its financial implication. JOHESU asked for a copy and that two months arrears should be paid the way it was paid to NMA.
The Government pleaded to study it within a week and transmit same to Mr. President for approval.

On retirement age: The 12 man committee meeting was fixed for next week to resolve the bottle necks.

On payment of skipping of CONHESS 10 arrears, The FMOH is to send out a template to all institutions to submit the names of concerned staff for its financial implication and inclusion in 2015 budget.

The Laboratory Scientist Intern Circular on entry point was reported to have been issued by the OHCSF. Though no copy was brought to the meeting.

Circular to correct the earlier circular on appointment of JOHESU members as Consultants was agreed to be released on Monday 13th October by Federal Ministry of Health.

Appointment of CMD, Abolition of DCMAC, Advertorial , etc are being handled by the Presidential Committee.

The Government reported that the committee had ended its assignment and they are to submit the report to Government before the end of the month.

Promotion of members from CONHESS 14 - 15 the Government claimed that they have not received the lists of stagnant officers from JOHESU which JOHESU debunked. Permanent Secretary of FMOH was asked to take charge of it

The government pleaded that JOHESU should give them till the last week of October 2014 to address the whole issues.

JOHESU will write with a time line of the end of the Month for the issues to be concluded or face strike action.

Above, is the report of the meeting as filed in by the General Secretary who attended the meeting on behalf of the Union.

However, I am directed by the National President to request each unit branch chairmen/Secretaries to study this report and express necessary comments to be forwarded to the National Secretariat with immediate effect.

If you're prowling about for either of Apple's newest handsets, I present 10 things you should know (in no order of importance):

1. iPhone 6 Plus is even bigger than you think. Unless already using a phablet, you will find the Plus-size device to be just that. It is ginormous. I stood alongside a woman in a Verizon store yesterday as she compared her iPhone 4S to to the 6 Plus and gasped: "It's so big!" Strangely, the store only displayed the larger handset, which was sold out. She almost bought the 5S, until another customer pulled out the 6. "Oh, that's good", she said.

2. Good luck finding iPhone 6 Plus. The thing is sold out pretty much everywhere. I randomly called Apple Stores this morning, and none had the thing. You can wait or go smaller, which is my recommendation for the majority of buyers. By the way, shortages feed the Apple marketing machine -- and I question how often they're deliberate. Short Plus supplies ensure lots of blog posts, news stories, and social shares, which are worth millions in free marketing.

3. It's a design feature, not a flaw. For reasons that make no sense to me, the new iPhones have roundish rather than flat sides. In my handling iPhone 6, it's a slippery sucker as a result. No phone has ever made me worry about drops. I bought my first cell phone in 1997 and have never busted one, but holding Apple's handset makes me as jittery as watching the latest "Paranormal Activity" installment. If you need a case to use a super slim smartphone isn't there something you should question about the design?

4. So, yeah, you really want to slap a case on the back. Apple's cases -- five in leather and six in silicon -- are excellent choices and really are the only ones in stores today. They feel great and provide the grip that should be on the device but isn't. What an upsell gimmick, eh? So add at least $35 to your purchase price.

5. Do spend the extra $99 on AppleCare+. The plan extends the warranty to 2 years and gives you up to two breakage/damage replacements for $79 each. Given that these phones are larger than what existing iPhone users are accustomed to, the slickness of the aluminum back, and questionable roundish sides, drop risk should concern everyone.

6. Try buying at your cellular carrier store first. With past launches, the carriers sold out pretty fast. But in my checks around San Diego yesterday, they generally had iPhone 6 all day with much shorter lines. Outside Apple Store Fashion Valley, hundreds of people waited three hours after opening, while only a half-dozen at the Verizon shop less than a mile away. In the evening, long lines remained at Apple but not at the carrier, which still had 64GB gold and 128GB white iPhone 6 available.

7. If you're creative, you can still buy even if not eligible for upgrade. For example: If you have home phone service with Verizon. The carrier also will sell you the Ellipsis Android tablet for $250, from which line you can buy discounted iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. That will save you about $200 off the full, no-contract price.

8. Don't buy either of the 16GB models. You will regret the decision later on. Spend the extra $100 for 64GB. It's what Apple wants you to do it anyway, otherwise 32GB would be the smallest option (damn, retail tactics). The 16 gigger lets the company keep the $199 entry price but, by comparison, makes the four-times capacity model a better value -- long as you don't mind spending more. To emphasize: You will want the extra storage. Just ask anyone trying to scrape off 6GB of free space on older iPhones to install iOS 8.

9. Expect problems setting up with Apple ID and restoring apps. As I often say, sync is the killer app for the cloud-connected device era. But in observing two different iPhone 6 models, iCloud sync either needs work or labors under the load of way too many people setting up new devices all at once (hopefully the latter scenario). My restore from backup is slow that a day after receiving the phone, it's not done. So I tried manually installing from the App Store Geez. Should Beats or Pages take 12 hours to download? As I write, they're not installed yet.

10. And finally, iPhone 6 is better than you think. The iSheep -- as the Android Army and other fanboys call them -- can only grow in numbers now. Because iPhone 6 is arguably superb (except for the little dropsy thing). The device feels great, looks better than in the photos, and performs outstandingly in all the ways that matter most (my full review will explain why. I strongly recommend the 64GB model for most buyers, many of whom will be Android Army deserters.

5. You are engaged Who you marry is one of the most important decisions you will make in your entire lifetime. Your happiness and the happiness of others depend on the success of this decision. Just because you sent out the invitations, does not mean that you have to go through with it — if it’s not right. People will not judge you harshly; the will most likely say, “good thing they figured it out before they tied the knot.” Unless you are convinced that your decision is the right one, reconsider and marry someone that you are confident you will love for better or worse.

Selecting the right partner is a decision that will have eternal consequences. Do not get married just to get married. Be wise in making this decision. Seeing warning signs takes little time, so make sure you get to know your future spouse. Those high chemicals may fade away, but eventually, as you work on it, you will learn and will regain those puppy love feelings while also enjoying high clarity. Report just getting to Nigeriafilms.com confirms that a devastating fire engulfed the Big Brother House in South Africa today, Tuesday, September 2, 2014.

A statement made available to us by the media representative of the show disclosed that no life was lost in the inferno. Due to this development, the BBA Hotshots, which was supposed to kick-off this Sunday, has been suspended. “M-Net and Endemol SA advise that due to a devastating fire at the Big Brother house on 2 September 2014, Big Brother Hotshots will not launch this Sunday (7 September) as scheduled,” the statement sent to Nigeriafilms.com said.

“The cause of the fire at this stage is unknown and investigations will commence as soon as it is safe to do so,” the statement further disclosed. It was further revealed that the producers of the show are “urgently looking for an alternative Big Brother house in which to film the production.”
