According to Italian media reports, eight Nigerian men in Italy have allegedly raped a young lady in front of her boyfriend after holding them hostage in Province of Arezzo.

It was gathered that the couple believed to be Nigerians also – were offered to be hosted at the house where the Nigerian immigrants live as the man’s girlfriend was asked to prepare food for them – not knowing what they had planned.

The boyfriend was reportedly beaten by the Nigerian migrants, while the leader of the group allegedly grabbed the girl and threatened her with the knife before sexually assaulting her along with others.

According to reports, after the couple were allowed to go the next morning, they reported the issue to the Arezzo police department as report has it that the suspects are currently on the run.

It was scooped that the police identified four of the Nigerians and have accused them for various crimes including sexual violence in the region.

Two university students identified as Ms Sharlet Atieno and Mr Derick Ouka, reportedly got drowned in a river on Saturday while taking photos.

The two university students who visited Siaya town in Kenya, were visiting the town for the second time with two friends Beatrice Stephanie Atieno and Steven Omondi for a planned photo shoot on the banks of River Yala.

Ms Atieno, a first-year student at Bondo Technical Training Institute, who posed for photos on the rocks as Mr Ouka, a second-year student at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, took photos of her, reportedly slipped and fell into the river.

While their friends laughed thinking it was a prank, Ouka who dived in to rescue her after she didn’t surface got drowned too. Their friends Ms Beatrice Stephanie Atieno, a Kabianga University student, and Steven Omondi who realized what had happened, reportedly tried to save the pair all to no avail.

“We burst into laughter but that soon turned into panic when she failed to resurface,” Ms Stephanie, a Kabianga University student said.

“I jumped into the river too and got hold of Sharlet but she slipped and disappeared,” Mr Omondi said.

Search for the two bodies, which began on Saturday afternoon, was still going on by Monday evening as it was gathered that Mr Ouka’s mother Jacinta Adhiambo was taken to Avenue Hospital in Kisumu after she fainted following news of the drowning.

A 15-year-old boy who raped a 4-year-old girl, Jennifer Iteze, has been freed as the family of the rape victim who couldn’t pay the sum of N4,000, which according to Family Law Centre, Abakaliki was to be used for opening the case file.

The rape case of the 4-year-old girl was brought to Ebonyi State’s Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The Ministry’s Head of Department, Child Development, Godwin Igwe, revealed that Iteze was brought to his office, by the father alongside a consultant physician from the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, who confirmed the rape upon some medical examinations.

Jennifer’s father alleged that the rape act was perpetrated by one Ernest, the son of one of his co-tenants. According to him, Ernest undertook to look after the little girl and her two other siblings while he and their mother left for their different places of work, but on return, they discovered that their daughter was having pains while urinating.

It was gathered that upon inquiry, parents of the little girl were told by their daughter how Ernest came into their house while she was with her siblings and inserted his genital into her own. However following the inability of the family to pay N4,000 for a case file, the 15-year-old boy has been freed.

Iteze, who is a staff of the National Obstetric Fistula Centre, Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, has however called on the appropriate authorities to assist his family in bringing the culprit to justice, so as to serve as deterrent to others.
