Foreign Affairs › Ukraine -Trump Supporting Senator Explodes, Says Russia Economy Must Be Crushed by IhateYouMan(op): 12:22pm On Feb 23, 2022 |
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., called to "destroy the ruble and crush the Russian oil and gas sector" in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aggression in Ukraine.
Graham made the call in a tweet thread posted after Putin's national address in which he recognized the independence of the separatist Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic areas of Ukraine.
"When it comes to thugs like Putin disrupting world order and destroying democracies – enough is enough," Graham wrote.
"Putin’s decision to declare eastern Donetsk and Luhansk as independent regions within Ukraine is both a violation of the Minsk Agreements and a declaration of war against the people of Ukraine," the Republican from South Carolina continued.
"His decision should immediately be met with forceful sanctions to destroy the ruble and crush the Russian oil and gas sector," Graham added.
The situation in Ukraine has become dire, with Putin’s recognition of the separatist governments likely to lead to conflict.
A U.S. official gave a grave warning to the United Nations, cautioning that Russia has put together a list of Ukrainians "to be killed or sent to camps following a military occupation."

FuckSilly: You see how daft you are? The most independent and self-sufficient country in the world is China at the moment. Most countries in the world depend on China... China can even impose sanctions on USA. You think this is 1980 abi? China's economy is tightly coupled with foreign economies and is based on MARKET ACCESS. Their biggest trading partner is the USA and the West in general. China will remain neutral - period. |

Trentee4eva: You should pray it doesn't become a nuclear war because the UK, where you reside will be obliterated. UK will be dust and ashes with a single strike of the Russian sarmat nuclear missile (Satan-2 is the NATO codename). In a nuclear war between Russia and NATO, China will become the undisputed economic and military superpower if they don't get involved. Russia will be turned into ashes as well, the UK has enough Nuclear weapons to turn Russia into planet Mars. And you think Nigeria will be spared from a Nuclear war ? Africa will suffer nuclear rain, destruction of the atmosphere, exponential increase in cancers, total fail of agriculture etc. Putin is not stupid - he knows that attacking NATO means the end of at least 2/3rds of humanity including 100% of Russia. |

Ass lickers The US abides by rules of engagement. If they wanted to go all out WAR with Syria etc they will reduce them to 'baby' powder - and you know it. |

pansophist: The west have met their match. I remember during Iraq war when Bush ordered the president and his son to leave the country within few days ultimatum. They could do that because Iraq was weak and has no nuclear weapon, and they invaded the country later on. Now its Russia and its only shout and sanctions. Go fight Russians na. Lol Russia is a small boy. NATO will crush them in days. |

chronique: You lots don't even understand the dynamics of the EU market where Russia supplies the whole of Europe over 40% of basic energy needs that they can't possibly get elsewhere. Tell me how the US wants to supply gas to the whole of Europe and at what cost? Are they going to construct new delivery channels? You guys just sit on Nairaland and type away without even knowing the dynamics of the things you say. Russia does not supply the whole of Europe. |

FERNANDEZISBACK: This might have an effect on Russia to be sincere.. To my knowledge there isn't really any precedent since 1945 for a great power annexing another country to both gain land and intimidate another superpower... Right now there's a spectrum for what what could happen..
On the one end Russia could invade and something could go horrifically wrong and we end up in a Europe wide NATO - Russia war. That would be disastrous to say the least.
In the middle of the spectrum is full sanctions and Russia becomes and economic pariah state. This however looks unlikely as only Britain and the US seem to see eye to eye in arguing for this outcome.. France and Germany seem a little bit less enthusiastic about this approach.. Let's see how it goes.. EU is about to impose sanctions from tomorrow. France is part of the EU.

Politics › Nigerian Soldiers Flee As Boko Haram Terrorists Overrun Military Base In Borno by IhateYouMan(op): 7:58pm On Feb 21, 2022 |
Militants from the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād, have taken over a military base located in Gamboru Ngala, Borno State.
SaharaReporters gathered that the insurgents on gun trucks attacked the base on Saturday night, exchanging firepower with Nigerian troops stationed in the community.
According to a military source, the gunmen came in different groups and could not be counted.
The source added that “some Nigerian soldiers were killed while others fled into the bush”.
It was learnt that the insurgents also “burnt some buildings and vehicles in the military base”.
Since the death of JAS leader, Abubakar Shekau, ISWAP has been consolidating its grip in locations around Lake Chad.
Last year, it appointed Wali Sani Shuwaram, a 45-year-old as the new Leader (Wali) of ISWAP in Lake Chad.
The sect’s membership has swollen with the defection of hundreds of Boko Haram fighters under Shekau.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army on its Twitter page on Monday announced success in its fight against insurgency around Mandara mountains along the northern part of the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
“Based on intelligence report, today troops of 144 Battalion Madagali-Adamawa State in conjunction with Civilian JTF laid an ambush on withdrawing ISWAP/Boko Haram Terrorists after a superiority clash between the terror groups. Scores of terrorists were neutralized at Mandara mountains,” it said.
