femmoy: Please bro can I apply for the opportunity card while I compile my necessary documents and also the waiting list people are being placed on is exactly for how long? Would it meet up with the 3 months for the credentials evaluation process?
What I mean is that would you advise I apply for the opportunity card first or get all my documents first before applying? Apply for the opportunity card. The waiting period for appointment date is even more than a year as stated in the mail I got after applying. You can use this time to gather your docs |

I also feel that the waiting time might not be up to one year. |

hisgrace090: Staying abroad and collecting salary in Nigeria is a big time crime that must be frowned at. Hmmm But what if you work remotely here in Nigeria and relocated abroad without letting your company know and then you are still collecting salary. You are available for tasks when needed although there are fewer tasks to handle. |

Ndaife: Evening Bro, must one seek employment in the area of study if successfully migrate with this opportunity card before he/she can change his visa status, or can one get employed based on the field of work experience. U knw 9ja things, one can study Microbiology and find himself working as a Customer Service Officer I understand perfectly. I want to be sincere here, you are expected to work in your area of specialty as per your degree. But if you get in and you are able to convince your potential employer with your experience in a field different from what you studied at the university and subsequently get employed. I think no one is going to stop you from changing your visa status. Plus, the opportunity card can be extended to another two years. So try and get in first. |

Jboyossai: Hello, For me, anabin listed my institution as H+ but I didn't see my course in the list of courses. They only had like 8 courses out of over 20 courses in my school. Do I need the evaluation? Yea, you are in the same boat as me. So you have to apply as well to be on the safest side. |

RodgersAkpafu: so you are just looking for way to "escape" Bro I am relatively comfortable in Nigeria right now but the future of this country is scary. We keep on hearing that the Nigeria will be better but it keep on getting worse. Now we are wishing to go back to the Buhari era when things were much better and during the Buhari government, we were wishing to go back to the Goodluck Jonathan era. Left for me, I am “ok” as a frontend developer with a job and other side gigs but what about my unborn children, the country looks like it has nothing to offer them in terms of opportunities especially without connection. I want them to be in a society that rewards hard work and brilliancy. Do you know how many people who have learnt good skills in the tech space but there’s no jobs for them because they are in Nigeria. I have even sent my Computer Science Bachelor’s degree to Germany for evaluation in preparation for the newly launched opportunity card program. Yeah, I want to “escape” Nigeria for now. |

Look at number 8. It's boldly stated that holders of a student visa aren't allowed to work. I will research this more if I wanted to go to Brazil. Bro students can work in Brazil, especially remotely I have asked students there and they answered in the affirmative. My concern is getting dev jobs. It might be officially stated that students cannot work but they might not be hard on it as I follow YouTubers schooling in Brazil and working to support themselves. Even a lady who is on gcub scholarship. |

nellystrong7: Don't conclude on what you are not sure. The link above is authentic. You can only book appointment for Chancenkarte through the German Mission in Nigeria. The link is for Opportunity Card. Some may find it difficult navigating the embassy/consulate website, so I copied and pasted the link for Opportunity Card here for easy accessibility. Sorry man, I have also applied with the same link you provided but I saw a different interface on a YouTube video. |

tensazangetsu20: I know that Brazil has jobs because I have recruiters from Brazil also reaching out to me. What I don't know is how restrictive their student visa is with regards to working. You might want to research more on that. Also want to research more on getting permanent residency through the student visa. I don't think you are allowed to work on a student visa in Brazil. I am not sure. Research more. Students can work while studying in Brazil.

How far Tensa, I am looking at Brazil. What are the chances of getting a frontend dev role while doing my MSc? I plan to learn Portuguese though. I am thinking of Brazil because of no tuition fees for public universities. |

Iykeafrica: OK. For my case I saw my degree as a German equivalent of 3year course and my institution as H+. Then you don’t the statement of comparability. You have to print out the two pages as proof of your recognition. But be sure you are following the actual instructions here, there are a lot of conflicting instructions. |

Iykeafrica: Please, I submitted my application today and from my research it appears one can use Anabin (https://anabin.kmk.org/anabin.html) to verify and confirm if their institution is recognized and degree is equivalent to that of Germany. I also checked this site (https://hallogermany.com/blog/anabin-guide-academic-degrees) when doing my research. Anabin database is not exhaustive enough and you might not find your degree type in their database even though you find your university. This was my case which was why I opted for the statement of comparability from ZAB. Did you apply for the opportunity card already? |
