LOL not veteran, but a cynic yes, i dont believe words, they are just letters making up a sentence. One can something without actually meaning it. Most people throw those words too carelessly. Nah if you love, you have to prove that your words mean something. Match actions to those words. cheesy
Politics › Re: Do You Personally Think You Can Rule Nigeria? What Will You Do Differently? by iice(f): 7:07pm On Aug 09, 2006
nilla i know that is not the only you would encourage. What i meant was that in terms of economy (exports) is oil the only resource to develop?
Politics › Re: Is Africa Primitive Or Just Conservative? by iice(f): 7:06pm On Aug 09, 2006
Ok so we are lacking in some resources and althou we have such resources (There's money in Naija, We get enuff people also) why is it we are slow to actually improve for example human resource? But i think i know what you mean. It's basically the system, like in the Naija, state of the country makes it difficult to improve on what we know we have. Going back to 'african conservatism' how will you educate/inform the conservative nations on moving forward?
Politics › Re: Do You Personally Think You Can Rule Nigeria? What Will You Do Differently? by iice(f): 6:56pm On Aug 09, 2006
I dont think i can rule Nigeria (not one for politics) neither do i think anyone can rule. To set the country straight, we need a strong leader, one who is passionate about Nigeria as a whole, one who is patriot, one who wants the best for Nigeria as a whole and not for himself/herself (althou, realistically speaking i dont think a woman will lead anytime soon) Having said that, I dont think there will be someone who could shape nigeria based on progress for the nation and not for oneself because corruption rules there. Even if he were well intentioned, he would either be corrupted or step down for fear of corrupting his ideals. Sarafiking, you do have some good ideas esp you last post, i liked those ideas. Importantly what you say about grassroot movement is right on target. wink
Am crossing ma fingers for naija o, that we get on track to where we are supposed to be.
@nilla, is oil the only economic benefit you would encourage? Yes it brings us alot of money, but why do we solely depend on it. We are a blessed nation with abundant resources and yet we do nothing with them

Exactly everyone does that
Politics › Re: Is Africa Primitive Or Just Conservative? by iice(f): 6:40pm On Aug 09, 2006
Hmmmmm i guess they are conservative but like you said, their conservatism is outdated. Truly i cant really figure out why we are so afraid to move on. Please someone enlighten me on that. Is it fear? Fear of losing identity as omonozoz said? But isnt it evident enuff that most 'advanced' nations still have their identities? What exactly are we afraid of?
Career › Re: How Healthy Is Office Romance? by iice(f): 6:33pm On Aug 09, 2006
feliar:
i have also noticed too that most people who get into these things also know they want to define a certain level of committment. i.e not very serious, to lead to anything more permanent.
That's where i think office romance can work, if there are boundaries set and having respect for both involved

Travel › Re: Why Do Most Nigerians Abroad Feel Too Big (important)when They Come Here! by iice(f): 4:39pm On Aug 09, 2006
Maybe because once people know you are from abroad, automatically they think you are rolling in dollars (can't even understand why they think that) Ahhh and for those who are susceptible to praises that makes their head swell. For others, they alrdy have the 'too big' mentality before ever leaving naija so its natural they want to shine when they go back. Once again not everyone is like that.
