CelebritiesEllen Degeneres' Turns 55! by ijebabe(op): 1:08pm On Jan 27, 2013
Ellen DeGeneres turned 55 yesterday on the 26th of January. The celebrations started early on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" -- readers sent in virtual gifts and during the show on Friday, Katy Perry emerging onto the stage dressed as a man.

Ellen gave away some amazing gifts to her audience which included a 3 day stay at a resort! Not to forget the cake, her 4 tier cake was just as quirky as she is, done in stripes and checkered pattern she is known to wear.

The President had a busy week, but he still made time to extend a very special birthday wish for Ellen. You can checkout what Obama sent in the video below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGwBn2NQq3M

Huffington Post wrote an article on 55 reason we love Ellen and I selected a few:

**Her hilarious campaign to appear on the cover of O, The Oprah Magazine. Ellen begged her way onto the cover of O by mentioning it on her show constantly, photoshopping images of herself onto existing covers of past issues and creating an "O Yes I Can" vision board. In December 2009, Ellen's wish came true when she appeared with Oprah on an O cover. The only other person who had ever been pictured with Oprah was Michelle Obama.

**She's funny without cursing -- because it's more difficult.

**She challenged Michelle Obama to a push-up contest -- and lost gracefully.

**She won't compromise herself in the name of success.

** She's full of energy -- all the time.

**In 2012, she won the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor

It's just nice to hear clean music. He's original unlike M.I and others who can't stick with own lines and steals from other rappers.
DaSuki also sang in his own accent and not a put on trying to impress God-knows-who.

FamilyBlack Man And White Woman Have 4 Children And They Are All Different by ijebabe(op): 5:10pm On Jan 26, 2013
This got me laughing! If this was in Naija the woman would have been called all sorts of names grin

Tess and Chris Giddings knew when they started a family they would be making an inevitable contribution to multicultural Britain.

What they didn’t expect was that they’d start their own melting pot. Or, as Chris proudly describes it: ‘We’re like a box of chocolates – dark ones, brown ones and white ones.’

The couple’s remarkable brood includes a daughter who shares mum’s fair skin and eye colour; her golden complexioned sister; their olive-skinned big brother; and the latest arrival, a button-nosed, black baby boy who looks just like dad.

Precisely how they ended up with four such different children is doubtless of great interest to geneticists, but it came as a surprise to Tess, a former model, and Chris, a store supervisor.

‘We couldn’t care less what colour they are,’ said Tess, 24. ‘They are a great joy to us and we couldn’t be happier.’

After their first child, Jacob, now six, was born at Southend General Hospital in Essex, Tess and Chris, from Colchester, watched him develop into a perfect blend of his parents – with olive skin, blue eyes, and soft, curly brown hair.

Savannah, now four, was born at the same hospital and looked almost identical to her big brother as a baby, but is growing up with slightly paler skin and lighter hair.

Then along came Amiah. ‘When she was born we only got a quick glimpse of her because her blood sugar level was so low, and she was whisked away for treatment before a wristband could be put on her,’ said Tess.

‘When she came back an hour or so later, and I got a proper look at her, I couldn’t believe how white she was.

‘I said to Chris: “Do you think they’ve given us the wrong baby?” Chris never for one moment thought I’d cheated on him. He was my first boyfriend, we’re happily married and there was never any doubt about that.

‘People kept coming up to me in the street asking if my children had different fathers. I’d never ask anyone that, but people were very blatant.’ To rule out any doubt about a hospital mix-up, the couple agreed to a DNA test. It proved Amiah was 100 per cent Giddings. But baby Zion was about to make the mix even more diverse.

He was born a year ago with dark skin, black curly hair and brown eyes. ‘When we first saw him, Chris nearly fell over,’ said Tess.

‘He took one look at him in the delivery room and said: “Oh my god, he’s black!” The midwife just stared at him in astonishment and said: “You do know you’re a black man, don’t you?”

‘We were laughing and Chris said: “You don’t understand – I have one child who is completely white!”.’

Chris, 33, was born in Britain two years after his parents emigrated from Nairobi, Kenya.

Tess said: ‘Zion has got darker and is the only one with brown eyes. He has completely got Chris’s genes, whereas Amiah has got whiter. She has straight, blonde hair and light blue eyes.

‘It’s so nice having children who are all a bit different. They are all gorgeous and we love them all the same.’

Aside from an occasional raised eyebrow, the family has never encountered racism.

‘Thankfully, most people are colour blind these days,’ added Tess. ‘Our children are living proof of that.’

For the children produced by the blue-eyed blonde and her black-skinned husband cover just about every spectrum of the inter-racial rainbow.

FashionQuvenzhané Wallis Covers Entertainment Weekly by ijebabe(op): 3:14pm On Jan 26, 2013
The 9-year-old star, who recently became the youngest "Best Actress" Oscar nominee, is serving us up a double dose of adorable!

Now Quvenzhané Wallis can officially add covergirl to her growing list of accomplishments. Beaming a big bright smile, Quvenzhané graces the cover of Entertainment Weekly's special Oscar issue.

The pint-sized star ditched her frilly frocks and puppy shaped purses for a more masculine ensemble--a dark pant suit, white shirt and black-and-white striped tie. Thank goodness for her curly hair or the glossy would have totally turned her into a little boy. We would have rather seen the "Beasts of the Southern Wild" star in a girly look, but she's super cute either way.

Ready for your second serving of adorable?

NBC's Ann Curry recently caught up with Quvenzhané down in her home state of Lousiana to learn more about her rise to fame. Quvenzhané talks about the moment she found out about her historic Oscar nomination, teaches Ann how to eat crayfish "Louisiana style" (she can eat 5 pounds of the mini crustaceans), sings a little Justin Bieber (she's really good) and says that she's a "triple threat."

"That means you do three things and try to do it at once. Like a 3-in-1 shampoo," Quvenzhané tells NBC."Yup, I'm a 3-in-1. Triple threat!"

I mean, really? Could she get any cuter? Nope, not possible.

You should take photos for those of us who haven't been there.
