Why should the FG mandate Mississippi to pay same as New York and what are the risk to Mississippi economy if they adopt New York rate

It shouldn't be and it never will. MA even sets its own minimum wage.
But, statisticians in the Federal government should set a minimum federal living minimum wage taking into account the standard of living in every state and a minimum wage where corporations like Walmart aren't abusing the system, paying low wages to employees because the Federal government picks up the difference in Welfare while state governments don't care because states like MA and NY send more of their tax dollars to support those welfare payments.

That is what good, logical policy sounds like, not the 1 line sound bites that sustain you and Republicans throw around.

We do not need the Federal govt to increase minimum wage. Let states handle it according to the standard of living of their state. Manhattan New York came decide its minimum wage is $50 per hour because of the standard of living there while Nowhere Alabama can decide its $7 an hour due to the standard of living

The govt putting any arbitrary number will either not be enough for folks in expensive places or kill businesses in poorer places

Why will a Manhattan in New York have the same wage as a Oxford Mississippi

The minimum wage that keeps you poor in New York will give you a middle class life in Alabama

Moreover minimum wage jobs are mainly for young people just starting their lives.

The current federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.
For people under 20: $4.25 per hour (for 3 months).

I bought gas for $4.13 a gallon on Sat. The gas prices are similar throughout the country.
My car takes around ~20 gallons of gas. For aorund ~$82
So, someone would have to work 11.25 hours or 1 and half days (8 hour days) anywhere in the country on a Federal minimal wage to afford a full tank of gas for their car.
But they can't so that person has to get on Welfare, that tax payers supply, to be able to afford life.
So, what happens is that WE end up subsidizing the business by allowing them to pay minimum wages like Walmart employees.
And what does that sound like?

But this is the Republican party and who their voters are.
That's why they spend so much time on social issues hoping their voters don't understand the actual policies they support.
