One of the problems is one of the justifications the US is using to argue free navigation through the Strait, is the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
The problem is the US never ratified the treaty. So, they are not a signatory of it.
And the reason we never ratified it was Conservative concerns over sovereignty.

Yes, Church of England 12 years straight, Bible study for years, parochial church council secretary for 6, English to foreigners for 8 and youth classes. You get to know lots of bishops and vicars who are Atheists when you move around in the CofE like I did. Hardly any would do Adam and Eve but they keep silent because of the many vicars who don't Darwin. Most are silent about it, but an eye wink over a pint often loosens. They take joy in they kicked it out of schools and socials so their kids are not infected. I find most today would rather pub than God.
