I don't know about naija but I know that in the US its not compulsory. The process is just for you to fill the record of birth at the hospital which will be translated into the birth certificate.

Please I am interested in this. How do you go about this? Is there any process involved? Esp in this Naija. I had always thought that putting the father's name on the birth certificate is always compulsory?[/quote]

Lucky you. I flew into atlanta last month using Air France. Delivered safely last week and when I called the airline to add baby to my ticket, I was told it Will cost $444. I asked a friend in Nigeria to call their Nigerian office and she was told that the ticket can only be added from the US. Please does anyone have a suggestion on how I can get a cheaper ticket as I am to return to naija in about 2 weeks time.

quote author=Nita3 post=60767724]I also used Turkish, i went to their office in Houston and made the reservation for my baby. I paid $92. You should search for Turkish airline office around you to make the booking or call their customer service line to make reservation, if there's no Turkish office near you.

Sir during the change of aircraft/airline in France airport, did you have to pick up your luggage yourself in France to join Delta airline or your luggage where transfer by the airline to Delta.

I have used travelstart to US and dubai without issue. I used them to book an air France flight to usa for a colleague about 2 weeks ago and he travelled without issue. I used them in booking an airfrance flight for my trip to usa this weekend and was notified of some minor changes in the itinerary. Overall, the experience has been ok but I usually go to www.checkmytrip.com to confirm my bookings and keep abreast of any change in itinerary.

GucciOluwa:
Good morning house. Please has anyone booked their flight through travelstart before? Did you encounter any challenge (esp as regards date change)? I called airfrance and also checked their site, tickets to Minneapolis are 800k plus but on travelstart and wakanow it's a little above 500k.
I booked my flight months ago to fly with Turkish airlines but I intend to leave earlier and the present fare difference is over 300k so I want to cancel and book airfrance.
Kindly respond.
Have a fruitful day.

Hello Batwi, kindly throw more light on the single mum's experience. What was her poe? What was the poe interview and responses like?did she fill only her name on the bc without hassles?did she have to fill a special form for single mum or did her baby daddy provide the ds5063 form?
Babatwi:

I know a single mum that travelled to give birth but she used her own bank account statements. She didn't have any issues whatsoever, right from visa application to poe to getting babies birth cert and passport to returning to returning 9ja,no issues whatsoever

reniduke:

I did not pre-arrange. I searched for one close to my home and booked appointment for 2 days after i was discharged. Kennesaw paedatrics-loved them.

Hi reniduke, please what was the scope of service performed by Kennesaw pediatrics and how much did it cost?

So just as I promised to share my total bill and experience for my first Missionary Journey:

Hospital Bill - 3k for noncomplicated vaginal delivery (it has to be paid before discharge from the hospital to qualify for the discount package)

Dr fee - 1k for vaginal delivery (payment is due at initial doctors appointment)

Lab test - 158

Ultra scan - 120

Paediatrician - 300

Well Child Check - 95 (this was done at JPS hospital fort Worth)

LO birth cert. - 23 each (collected two copies)

American Passport - 165 (I got it by mail exactly 13days after applying)

I got my zero balance from the hospital by mail 3 weeks after discharge. I left US with LO on the 30th of March, got to Qatar and was hoping to get a transit visa to qualify for an hotel in Doha but sadly our Visa wasn't granted by the immigration, we had to stay at the airport for a 12hrs layover. Thank God it's finally over for now, I will hang my coat and hibernate till further notice. Thanks to everyone who has shared their experiences, bills and answered both my public and direct questions, God bless you all especially @chloe7 @temmyo ...@dyout Congratulations and thank you so so much for the assistance with LO letter of Consent and it was nice to meet your Madam a fellow Nairalander in diaspora.
Peace!
