They didn't tell their people to stay clear of Lagos state or any state in the south west, they only told them to be careful in the south west just the way i'm always careful whenever i'm in London.

INEC’s legitimacy is rooted in the perception of neutrality. When the man who oversaw an election is rewarded by its beneficiary so quickly, it reinforces suspicions that the process was compromised.

3. Timing magnifies the problem.
Nigerians have seen former INEC officers enter government before—but never this soon, and never directly into the government whose election they conducted. This immediacy turns what might have been a normal career move into a troubling political transaction.

4. It sends a dangerous precedent.
Future INEC chairpersons may begin to view elections as pathways to political appointments. At that point, neutrality is dead.

5. It undermines the sacrifices of millions who demand credible elections.
Citizens queued in the sun, faced insecurity, and trusted the system. This nomination feels like an affirmation that their trust was misplaced.

*Why Prof. Mahmood Yakubu Should Decline the Appointment*

1. To protect his own legacy.
His name is already contested in the public square. Accepting this posting confirms the worst suspicions. Declining it could help recover part of his standing.

2. To defend the integrity of the institution he once led.
INEC cannot become a recruitment pipeline for the ruling party. He owes INEC that much.

3. To show that leadership still carries a moral dimension.
Public office is not just about what is permissible; it is about what is proper. Declining the appointment would send a powerful message that ethical boundaries still matter.

4. To strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.
Nigeria needs a culture where public officials willingly place national trust above personal gain. This is one such moment.

Was it Boko Haram?

Follow me on a journey.
It was a cold morning of October 1st 2010. Nigerians had woke up that morning not particularly enthusiastic for the day as they should being citizens of a blessed country like Nigeria. Most observed the public holiday as they normally did. Wives used the holiday to do some quick shopping for the house and husbands delighted to take a break from the grind to catch up with the neighbourhood folks over a few chilled bottles of beer. That was to change in very short order.

At around 11:19am, word started spreading. A car bomb had exploded in Abuja. Nigeria just experienced its first terror bombing. But there was no Boko Haram as we know it today, there was no ISWAP. So who or what organisation could have done this? What organisation could have violated the innocence of Nigerians and Nigeria in such a brutal way?

Meet MEND.
That bombing was carried out by the Movement of Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND. Who was MEND's spokesperson? Reno Omokri or as he chose to be called then, Wendell Simlin.

IPOB did not do a quarter of what MEND did in Nigeria. The records are available. Yet MEND and its leaders got heavily rewarded. The 17.5 trillion naira pipeline protection contract that Atiku complained about recently, is part of the deal reached to settle MEND. Tompolo is a huge beneficiary of that contract. It was given to his company after all. Tompolo was the leader of MEND. He had a number of deputies; General Boyloaf being one of them. Reno Omokri however was the one in charge of MEND's public communications. Every attack MEND carried out Omokri would announce it before it happens and then acknowledge its success and claim responsibility for MEND.

Hundreds of Nigerian security forces died at the hands of MEND. Nigeria's crude oil output got cut down by over 75%. Foreign expatriates were targeted for kidnapping.

Has IPOB done any of that? Why did MEND get rewarded and IPOB get labelled a terrorist group? Why is Omokri rewarded with an ambassadorship but Kanu has to rot in Sokoto? This is Nigerian justice. It calls for deep thought.

First of all, I want you to provide an evidence the government gave out a 17 trillion naira pipeline contract.
