ComeComing: Sentiments aside, we all know that after a Buhari/Osinbajo merger, Atiku/Obi merger is the strongest political merger in the country.
Which leaves me asking, what will Tinubu do if Obi agrees to deputize Atiku? In my opinion, I think he'd be forced to drop Shettima for Kwankwaso.. as water don pass garri.
But wait, Tinubu still has another hurdle to bypass, which is; What if Seyi Makinde wins PDP presidential primary? And proceeds to run, won't that be a big blow to Tinubu's second term ambition, as another Southern candidate will only divide his votes in his strong base.
To cut it short, If Atiku/Obi becomes a thing in 2027, while Seyi Makinde runs under PDP, how will Tinubu win? if nah Yoruba man write this kin comment, your brothers go start to dey cry and wail about how some people are Fulani slave |

Politics › Re: Coup Plotters And Election Riggers: Two Paths To The Same Act Of Treason by Ikaeniyan0: 9:07am On Nov 30, 2025 |
RexEmmyGee: In many countries, especially emerging democracies, society displays a troubling double standard when dealing with threats to constitutional order. I watch and read on how coups especially the recent one in Guinea Bissau was widely condemned while the rigging of elections were usually followed by congratulatory messages even by advanced countries whose elections monitors report widespread manipulations of the elections they observed. A military officer who attempts a coup is instantly labelled a traitor. Leaders, civil society, and the international community condemn the act with one voice. Yet a politician who rigs an election—subverting the will of millions—is often celebrated, defended by party loyalists, or rewarded with political office. Even the judiciary looks the other way round or even sometimes aid the abuse of democracy. This inconsistency is not only morally wrong, but it also undermines the very foundation of democratic governance. The truth is clear: both coup plotters and election riggers commit treason. One doesn’t deserves condemnation while the other receives congratulations. A coup plotter seizes power through force. An election rigger seizes power through fraud. The tools differ—guns versus forged results, intimidation versus ballot manipulation, tank versus technical glitches—but the objective is the same: to gain power without the consent of the people. In constitutional democracies, sovereignty belongs to the citizens. Any act that overturns, manipulates, or bypasses their will is an assault on the state. Whether power is stolen with a rifle or a rigged tally sheet, the theft is still treason. Coup attempts provoke outrage because they are dramatic and visible. Tanks, soldiers, and emergency broadcasts make the betrayal unmistakable. Election rigging is quieter. It hides in official language, legal processes, party celebrations, and manipulated institutions. Because it unfolds under the cover of “civilian politics,” many accept it as a normal part of the game rather than acknowledging the truth: Election rigging is a civilian coup. The Damage Is the Same—Sometimes Worse for election rigging. Both coup plotting and election rigging produce illegitimate governments. Both destroy public trust. Both weaken the constitution. Both fuel instability and conflict. However, election rigging can be more dangerous in the long run. While a coup is abrupt and easier to reverse, electoral fraud corrodes democracy slowly, normalizing impunity and weakening institutions for generations. A rigged election is simply a coup conducted in slow motion. A nation cannot claim to defend democracy if it only rejects military coups while tolerating electoral theft. Democracy is not a matter of preference—it is a matter of principles. If stealing power by force is treason, then stealing it through rigged elections is equally treasonous. The method may differ, but the betrayal is the same. In conclusion, to build stable, credible, and enduring democratic institutions, societies must adopt one consistent standard: _Anyone who undermines the people’s will—whether wearing uniform or agbada—commits treason against the state. Coup plotters and election riggers are not opposites; they are reflections of the same anti-democratic mindset. One should never be condemned while the other is congratulated.
Until both are treated as equal threats, democracy will remain fragile and vulnerable.
By Prof Danjuma Sale Obi and Atiku were given the chance to prove to the court and Nigerians how they won the election, instead of them to give us the real figures, they started talking about how Tinubu didn't attend Chicago State University and other irrelevant issue. Every sane person and organisation around the world knew President Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the election. Losers can keep on wailing |

If the people of Guinea Bissau do not reject the madness, very little can be done. AU and ECOWAS should sanction Guinea Bissau and all the actors participating in this shenanigans.

frugal: There’s no such thing as ‘abusing freedom of speech’. It’s either you have freedom of speech or you don’t. There's something called "abusing freedom of speech". It's one of the reason Nnamdi Kanu is presently locked up at the Sokoto prison. An igbo guy living in Rivers state abused freedom of speech by calling on the military to take over and he's presently held by the DSS. There's freedom of speech does not mean we should start talking anyhow |
