bixton: The National Assembly can't pass a bill till the various State Assemblies attest to it, that's what is delaying it...
So I think what PBAT wants to do now is that they pass the bill to empower the States governments that are willing and ready to commence and form their own Sate Police. The National assembly will first pass the bill, then send it to the state assemblies |

Ttalk: O
Yes, just seeing that.
Now the SW should set the pace with Lagos state passing the bill before Friday and commission Lagos state police by Monday.
Let Ogun state, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti and Osun follow suit.
This will encourage other Southern states to establish theirs and we will be free from terrorism in our region The law has not been amended yet, no state can create a state police for now |

SmartPolician: The connection is, from the article, the CBN instructed Nigerian banks to have a market cap of #500 billion (about $344 million) as a condition for remaining in business. This is what you get what your currency becomes worthless. When the CBN instructed banks to increase their market cap under Soludo, do that also mean our currency was worthless then? |

SmartPolician: That means if a businessman needs $1 billion to invest in a business, 3 Nigerian banks cannot even lend him the money.
Honestly, Tinubu has destroyed this country. That's why Dangote and co keep running to Afreximbank. Wetin you dey talk ? What's the correlation between the article and your comment? |

Isn't that a contradiction? Show me where in my post I talked about resource control. I only talked about state police and local government autonomy. someone else quoted me and talked about resource control, and I told him that I'm 100% in support of resource control. Ikaeniyan0: Local government autonomy and state police are the most important for me. The 9th NA voted in favour of LG having autonomy but it failed at the state assemblies, I hope it will be successful this time around. I believe it will fast track development. MadPolitician: Political persecution. Nothing else.. They make it look like they are looking for more men to help with the fight against terrorism, but this is a clever move to strip all political enemies of their security and lay them bare for any untoward possibilities..
Nigeria needs more men in the army and the police. Tinubu talked of recruiting millions and feeding them with a-g-b-a-d-o before he became the president.. What is stopping him from doing so? There are many able young men from these areas that have been visited by terrorists. Employ them. The revenue income of the government has quadrupled. So what is stopping them from mass recruiting??
The whole country is going through a jumpy security situation as we speak. While having VIPs driving around with Police Escorts do not look so nice on the integrity of the police, we all know that very important captains of industries, business heads and political heavyweights will be at the mercy of different insurgents if their security is removed. We also know that the people supporting the government will still have their security irrespective of this order.. Government is taken step, you're still wailing No matter what the government do, people like you will still wail |

TimeManager: As long as the Supreme Court had ruled over it, it becomes a law. It's no longer a matter for debate, the constitution will have to accommodate it. Whether the Governors will obey the law and allow it LG to function is another debate entirely.
-Kiss the truth! As at today, the State governments are still dictating to LG chairmen. The only difference now is that the states must hold a LG election instead of appointing caretaker committees |

Putindbutt: The Supreme Court already had ruled in favour of LG autonomy and moreover, most states are now largely in favor of it today. Even though the supreme court ruled in favour of LG autonomy, they are presently still controlled by the states. That's why the lawmakers want to truly let them become autonomous. |
Politics › Re: Constitution Amendment: NASS Holds Final Retreat, Set To Vote On Final Draft by Ikaeniyan0: 6:08pm On Nov 24, 2025 |
Putindbutt: It would, in the tax reform, states that contribute more in revenue gets more from the allocation. Have you forget the uproar when Tinubu suggested states should keep 60% of what they generate? Igbos on nairaland were fully backing the northern politicians against the sharing formulae. States were eventually allowed to keep 30% of what they generate. Majority of the states in Nigeria will collapse without oil money |

Jaylord12: Yes sir but let each state control their resources I'm 100% for resource control. When Tinubu want the states to keep 60% of the VATs they generate, we all know the people supporting northern politicians who rejected it. I think LG should be the ones getting the 13% oil derivation sef because I can't see what the 13% is spent on in oil producing areas in the Niger Delta. |

Politics › Re: Compare Nigerian Situation Room Vs US Situation Room by Ikaeniyan0: 11:17am On Nov 24, 2025 |
FarahAideed: The White House Situation Room (WHSR), or "Sit Room," is a 5,000 square-foot operations suite located on the ground floor of the West Wing of the White House. Purpose: It is used by the U.S. President, National Security Advisor, Homeland Security Advisor, and other senior officials to monitor and manage crises, analyze intelligence, and conduct secure, real-time communications with U.S. forces and foreign leaders around the world.
Now let's compare it to the Nigerian presidents situation room used for yesterday security meeting..Notice how the security chiefs just came with their jotters as if they came to take notes from the presidents instead of them coming with the military solutions they have put together The way you reason is scary... You don't deserve to be given the chance to comment on nairaland. You're fond of talking anyhow with your full chest You open your two eyes dey see Tinubu office, but you're here claiming it's a situation room. |
