NewNigeriaMind:
I find it intriguing the bold face lies spewed on this thread by you Mr. OP.

In your warped mind all Agric produce you lump together including COCOA, yet you did a slit for solid Minerals.

In your earlier post you admitted Ondo state was and still is the highest producer of Cocoa which earned Nigeria the lion share of its forex during this period.

How can the SE that cannot sustain a social programme as free education sustain Nigeria, yet at a period regionalism was been practiced?

I am forced to conclude you are bold face liar. The SE couldn't even sustain itself not to talk of any other region. grin
Aww you sound PAINED!!!! Heya Ewwooo. Ndo oo

There is a reason why there is a link underneath that quotation, I wasn't the one who wrote it, your FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I did was give the summary of what they meant. Agriculture is predominately North, second largest is SS, Coal is predominately SE, Tin is only found in one state which is North and Columbite and Gold is also predominately North hence North, SS and SE. If you have a problem with what's written, call up Nigerian FG and cry to them.

Wow this is really great! Can you please add how much IGR is created with these crops?
It is 1 am where I am. I have to do that another time. I'm heading to bed. I did provide the contribution of Nigeria Yam and Cassava production/exportation in the world (posted above)

Nigeria Cassava production ranks 3rd while Yam is the largest.

A little of history I read while doing this research. something that caught my interest and I feel needed to be shown (sidenote: yes it is another debunking myth)

The principal mineral occurrences discovered by the survey teams included lignite deposits at Asaba, lead-zinc ores at several locations, tin and columbite in the south-east, monazite, limestone and lead-zinc ores at Abakaliki district.

Others were coal at Enugu, brine springs at Arufu and Awe, Galena in Jos area, iron ore deposits in Niger and Kwara districts and marble deposits in Jakura. Mining activity in controlled form, however, commenced in the country in 1915 with the production of coal at the Enugu mines.

Prior to the discovery of petroleum, Nigeria was impressively sustained by agriculture and few solid minerals known at the time, namely coal, tin, columbite and gold. Coal, for example, met fully the needs of our railway system and electricity supply while tin yielded substantial foreign exchange earnings for the nation.

In addition, these minerals also offered employment opportunities. The downturn in the economy and the introduction of the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) necessitated a review of Government thinking. The result is the crystallisation of the concept of diversification of activities, and the promotion of privatization and commercialization.
In other words it was agriculture, Coal, Tin, Columbite and Gold was what sustained the country prior to the discovery of Oil meaning North, south south and south east were the regions that sustained the country before everything fell on south south's shoulder

I don't know about anyone else but I found that intriguing.

PoliticsOMITTED TRUTH/DEBUNKING Lies...Nigeria States And What They Produce by ikechu1278(op):
I saw a thread titled, I believe, Nigeria states and what it produces. Considering a year ago I actually did a research paper on this exact topic, it intrigued me therefore I opened the thread and upon reading the thread, I noticed some states intentionally ommited, some states intentionally included and given higher percentage than it should and a cash crop (Round wood) that is no longer exported from Nigeria anymore due to the 1967 ban placed on it, intentionally included and what really caught my interest was the Gold production. Where I do know the states with gold in Nigeria are Abuja, Abia, Ebonyi, Edo, Kebbi, Kwara, Niger, Oyo, Sokoto and Zafara but according to the thread I spoke of somehow, someway Osun and Oyo are the gold producers of Nigeria with a minority of North sprinkled in. That peeked my interest so I decided to redo the research I did a year ago.

Round wood is no longer exported from Nigeria since this has been placed on ban since 1976. The round-wood produced in Nigeria is mainly non-coniferous hardwood. There are no authentic series on it since the 1990s’. However, the Central Bank published estimates are reported with FAO’s forecasts for comparison. It must be noted that round-wood statistics includes industrial round wood, poles and fuelwood.

It's breakdown of some of them

https://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m617/photobucket398/Yam_zpsplgehrco.png

In terms of production
Rice: North Central produces the highest, followed by North East, North West, South East, South West and South South producing the least
Maize: North East produces the highest, followed by North Central, North West, South West, South South and South East producing the least
Sorghum: North West produces the highest, followed by North East, North Central, South West and South and South East not producing any
Yam: North Central produces the highest, followed by South South, South East, South West, North East and North West producing the least
Cassava: North Central produces the highest, followed by South South, South East, South West, North East and North West producing the same amount

CASSAVA

Cassava production
https://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m617/photobucket398/Cassava_zpsblwivb7w.png

1.3.1 Cassava
In the last nine years (1999-2007), Benue State is the only state in Nigeria has reached, in terms of
cassava production, more than 3 million metric tons (see Fig. 4 below). Benue state (the “green” state
in this case) produced on the average (1999-2007) 3.57 million metric tons of cassava
. The “blue” states
including Kogi, Enugu, Imo and Cross River produced, on the average
, from 1999-2007, 2.1-3.0 metric
tons of cassava
, while 1-2 million metric tons of cassava was produced by “yellow” states including
Kaduna, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and Taraba
. The “white” states, on the other hand,
represent areas where cassava production is below 1 million metric tons
, on the average, in the last nine
years

yellow indicates 50-100 thousand hectares
Blue indicates 101-150 thousand hectares
Green indicates 151-200 thousand hectares
Red indicates greater than 200 thousand hectares
Furthermore, the average cassava yields from 1999-2007 shows that only Kogi, Ekiti, Ondo and Abia
States (the “green” states) have exceeded 15 tons per hectare. Ondo State had the
highest average yield of 18.5 metric tons per hectare is this is better than the averages (1999-2007) of
the World (11.1 metric tons/ha), Africa (9.3 metric tons/ha), Americas (12.6 metric tons/ha), Asia (16.1
metric tons/ha), and Oceania (11.2 metric tons/ha).
YAM

Yam production
https://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m617/photobucket398/Yam1_zpsdouv8bjn.png

Yam is grown in many states of the Federation. In the past nine year, however, only Niger State (the
‘green’ state) has produced on the average above 3,000 metric tons of Yam
. The ‘blue’ states including
Benue, Enugu and Taraba have each produced on the average between 2001-3000 metric tons of yam
(see Fig. 16 below)
. The ‘yellow’ states including Kaduna, Nassarawa, Kogi, Ondo, and Cross River
produced on the average between 1000-2000 metric tons
respectively, while the remaining ‘white’
states each produced less than 1000 metric tons in the last nine years
.

Red indicates over 200 thousand hectares of land, on the average, to yam production
Green indicates between 151-200 thousand hectares of land, on the average to yam cultivation
Yellow indicates 50-100 thousand hectares of land under yam cultivation
Blue indicates average between 101-150 thousand hectares of yam land
White indicates less than 50 thousand hectares of yam land

When compared with other world regional yield averages (1999-2007), Abia State’s yam average yield
(15.7 mt/ha) is better than those of the world (10.4 mt/ha), Africa (10.4 mt/ha), Asia (15.2 mt/ha) and
the Americas (8.8 mt/ha), but equal to that of Oceania (15.7 mt/ha) and worse than Europe (16.3
mt/ha).
SORGHUM

sorghum production
https://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m617/photobucket398/Sorhum_zpsdqhcxc2d.jpg

Sorghum is mostly produced in the Northeast, Northwest and North central regions of Nigeria. Only
Borno State (the “green” state in this case) produced greater than 600 thousand metric tons of sorghum
on the average in the last nine years (see Fig. 10 below). Kano, Kaduna, Niger and Zamfara States (the
“blue” states) each produced on the average between 401-600 thousand metric tons,
while the average
sorghum production in each of the “yellow” states (including Katsina and Bauchi) is between 200-400
metric tons
. As can also be seen in Fig. 10, several other “white” states each produced less than 200
metric tons of sorghum from 1999-2007
.

Blue indicates 101-150 thousand hectares
Green indicates 151-200 thousand hectares

Kaduna State recorded the highest average yield of 1.9 metric tons/ha. This is certainly better than the
averages of the World (1.4 metric tons/ha), Africa (0.9 metric tons/ha), and Asia (1.0 metric
tons/ha). However, it is less than the averages of Americas (3.4 metric tons/ha), Europe (3.9 metric
tons/ha) and Oceania (2.6 metric tons/ha).
RICE

Rice production
https://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m617/photobucket398/Rice_zpsw2v5slgx.png

Data show that rice is produced in almost every state of Nigeria, but most of these states (the “white”
states in this case) in the last nine years (1999-2007) each produced below 200 thousand metric tons on
the average
(see Fig. 13 below). The “yellow” states including Taraba and Benue produced between 200-
400 thousand metric tons each
, while the only “blue” state, Niger State, produced between 401-600
thousand metric tons of rice, on the average
, in the last nine years. No state produced more than 600
thousand metric tons within the same period.

Ebonyi State recorded the highest average yield of 2.9 metric tons/ha and this is better than the Africa
average of 2.3 metric tons/ha. However, it is less impressive of the averages (1999-2007) of the World
(4.0 metric tons/ha), Americas (4.5 metric tons/ha), Asia (4.1 metric tons/ha), Europe (5.7 metric
tons/ha), and Oceania (8.0 metric tons/ha).
MAIZE

Maize production
https://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m617/photobucket398/Maize1_zpslc3xukj3.jpg

Maize, an important cereal in Nigeria, is produced in all the states of the Federation. Though an all-
ecology crop in Nigeria, most states (the “white” states in this case) each produced less than 200
thousand metric tons on the average
from 1999-2007 (see Fig. 7 below). The six “yellow” states
including Borno, Plateau, Taraba, Kogi, Oyo and Ogun produced between 200-400 thousand metric tons
each
, while Niger State (the “blue” state) produced between 401-600 thousand metric tons in the same
period. Kaduna State is the only “green” state in this case producing more than 600 thousand metric
tons, on the average, in the last nine years.

Imo State recorded the highest average yield of 2.2 metric tons/ha and this is better than the Africa
average of 1.7 metric tons/ha. However, it is less than the averages (1999-2007) of the World (4.6 metric
tons/ha), Americas (6.2 metric tons/ha), Asia (4.0 metric tons/ha), Europe (5.5 metric tons/ha) and
Oceania (6.3 metric tons/ha).

Palm trees grow up in wet rain forests and in savannah, which means that 24 states, mainly in the South east and central zones, produce palm oil. The North central zones produce palm fruits only incidentally. The 9 states situated in the Niger Delta (Figure 4) account for 57% of the national production (PIND, 2011).

The Pulse: What about Language in Nigerian Cinema?
In The Pulse, our new feature section, we’ll connect different voices on topics in Black Film.  We’ll ask a question, frame it, and then connect with some of the many modes of answering that question.  In this first installation, we’ll look at the conversation about language in Nigerian Cinema.

*    *   *   *   *   *

Language does many things in cinema.  It produces, packages, and reflects culture. It validates and sanctions particular tongues. It denotes an audience and creates revenue streams.  And among many other things, it plays.

In Nigeria, whose 158 million citizens speak some 500 languages, the film industry puts out 1,000 to 2,000 films a year.  A global audience estimated in the hundreds of millions (if not more) watches these films, which are dubbed, subtitled, or already in an accessible language (mostly, but not always, English).

What matters, then, about language in Nigerian cinema?

The national dialogue on films in indigenous languages –from online messageboards to newspaper editorials to facebook – is particularly robust these days, due in no small part to the visibility of 2011’s 5th Festival of Indigenous African Language Films.  This, too, against a trend of de-Anglicization of Nigerian films in recent years.

“While Nigeria has been busy discussing how to decolonize television screens for the past 60 years, the Nollywood industry has done so in less than 30 years, yet the success of the industry still has its own problems that need to be carefully articulated, since it bears on our very being as people,” said Dr. Onookome Okome in a presentation at the festival, according to The Sun.

Not that the process has been homogenous and weighted evenly, as languages in Nigerian films do not mirror Nigeria’s linguistic composition[i].

“What happened to the Igbo Language Film?” asks Onyeka Nwelue in a post on YNaija.com. Though the Igbo film Living In Bondage (1992) is widely acknowledged as the first Nollywood film[ii],  very few (less than one percent) of films made in Nigeria today are in Igbo.  The common narrative is that Igbo filmmakers prefer making films in English, while Yoruba and Hausa filmmakers make films in their respective languages.  “What has made the Igbos think that it is better and more commercial to do these films in English? If making a film in English guarantees awesome box office sales, why do Yoruba movies still do well?” queries Nwelue, pushing for more Igbo film production.

Harris Chuma, president of the Igbo Film Forum, is leading the charge to do just that, organizing the first Igbo film festival earlier this year. “This festival will focus on addressing the issue of fallen Igbo Language and the need for Igbo filmmakers to embrace the new direction,” said Chuma.

“Any tribe that loses its language has invariably lost its identity,” writes Ebele Orakpo in The Vangaurd, before adding his voice to a growing assault on the most common defense of making films in English – commercial viability through a wider distribution audience:  “The reality on ground is that Nollywood of today survives based on indigenous language films. The champions of the Nollywood of today are the Yorubas and the market for Yoruba language films is booming. Hausa language films are also selling.”

Shey u deaf ni cheesy ? I taya for u oo
From the horses mouth. YOLLYWOOD IS an inadequate movie industry unable to barely pay its movie stars the same amount as Nollywood.

But, judging by the results of a recent investigation conducted by Saturday Beats, it appears all that glitters is not gold, after all.

Contrary to popular opinion, the life of the average Yoruba movie star is that of constant ‘suffering and smiling’.

In spite of the fabulous profiles and immense goodwill enjoyed by some of these celebrated screen gods and goddesses, the contents of their bank accounts are really nothing to be cheerful about.

Lmfaoooooooo you no say ppl like better things na that's why they are desperately attaching by force. Instead of being proud of their unsellable movie industry. I've been around multiple Africans be it Ethiopians, Moroccans and predominately Ghanaians and ivory coast. The Ghana and Ivorian that watch Nigerian movies, watches NOLLYWOOD, not once have ever watched a YOLLYWOOD movie before EVER. I've yet to meet any that knows yolobad actors and actresses. Even some niggerians, myself included, barely even know yollywood stars.

The movie stars in Yollywood are barely making end meet and getting paid chicken change compared to Nollywood stars and their movies are not selling. Rather than accept their inadequacy, guess what they blame it on? Piracy. The same situation Nolluwood is going through but bring in billions annually.

You are still here rambling huhhuh? Now that you have made NOLLYWOOD the Centerpoint of your irrelevant argument, can you answer this straight-face question? If Igbos REALLY dominated nollywood ,why did it take DSTV just a few months ago for them to include igbo movie channel on their programs? huhEVEN Kannywood has been having a channel for years like 2 Yoruba channels as well. Now mind you,DSTV is a FOREIGN company so you can't cry marginalisation this time. Those guys do their research very well before they arrange their programs.even sef it took wailing from Igbos before they were forced to include an igbo channel few months ago. You know whyhuhyou guys aint marketable, non appealing, the language sef sounds like 2 Soldiers fighting.
Because dimwit igbo producers and directors stopped making Igbo movies in igbo language and focused predominately in English movies due to their movie increasing popularity and they wanted to make it more global as oppose to remain in the level yorubad were hence majority of Nollywood is Igbo directed and produced. Igbo movies made in igbo language rebegan about few years ago. In fact, it Regan when yaradua was president aka highest 7 years ago.

Wtf do you think you proved? That's the problem with an illiterate copy and paste, your braincells is so limited even graph is difficult for you to grasp.

The graph is talking about language output in movie industry.

Lmfaoooooooooooooooo do your illiterate ass even understand the graph you quoted. Yollywood is the second highest language movie made in Nigeria, that's a fact. Who argued against that? It's sellable ability on the other hand is inadequate. Aren't you currently trying to force Brazilians to start trading on it because no one in west Africa actually watches yorubad movie. Hell even in Niggeria, excluding yolobad, who watches yorubad movies. Nollywood is a tradable movie industry, watched world wide..from all Africa to carribbeans to even African Americans and hilariously they didn't have to force anyone to watch it hence una desperate attache by force.
Prior to Nollywood, yoribad was the TV series of Nigeria and that never made it past Nigerian shores..igbo came in, created nollywood and boom it's booming. The entertainment industry left for una to manage aka Yollywood and even the same TV series is still an industry yet to make it past Nigerian shores. grin grin no wonder of una desperate attache by force.

Oh how I love thread like this.

In a Capitalist State Like Ours, Wealthy Firms With Healthy Cash Flow Control The Economy Not Petty Traders.

"I have investigated all the 20 top Nigerian companies listed below as compiled by authoritative Forbes business magazine and none of them is based in Igbo land or controlled by the so called ‘Igbo business men’.

Impressively, 20 Nigerian companies made it to the list of Top 25 companies in West Africa. They include:

• Dangote Cement
• Zenith Bank PLC
• Ecobank Transnational Incorporated
• Nigerian Breweries Plc
• First Bank Plc
• Guaranty Trust Bank Plc
• United Bank for Africa
• Guinness Nigeria
• Nestlé Nigeria
• Access Bank
• Flour Mills Nigeria
• Union Bank of Nigeria
• Stanbic IBTC
• First City Monument Bank
• Lafarge Cement WAPCO
• Total Nigeria
• Unilever Nigeria
• PZ Cussions
• UACN
• Cadbury Nigeria Plc

According to Forbes, Nigeria has 20 of the best 25 companies in West Africa.

It is only a fool who will believe Igbo postulation that it is street trader’s and hawkers that controls an economy. If that hypothesis is valid, then the Indians and Pakistanis in Britain can also claim that they [are] in charge of British economy because over 70% of petty street trading in Britain is in the hand of the Asians. However, we all know that actual British economy is firmly in the hands of the Britons. The same is factual for Germany and France where Turkish and North African Algerians are their own local version of Igbo. The only difference is that these other 'gypsies’' are more knowledgeable of who they are in their host countriy's economy, unlike ignorant Igbo petty street traders in Yoruba land."
Nigerians have made the Forbes list of richest people in the world the reason been that Forbes estimates the wealth of individuals and rank them based on the value of shares they have in quoted companies (companies listed on the stock exchange).

The few Nigerians that have the list are Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga and Femi Otedola.

The list of top 21 Richest Nigerian billionaires has been based on:

The value of their shares held in quoted companies, the size and market share of their companies, the number of companies they own and its assumed value, the market value of their company’s brand and the impact of their companies on the Nigerian economy.

Despite the harsh terrain and business challenges involved with starting a business in Nigeria; the successful entrepreneurs listed below held their ground and fought their way to the top.

In a country with a population of over 160 million inhabitants and millions of businesses; these 20 entrepreneurs diligently carved their names in the sands of time.

Check out the list below.

1. Alhaji Aliko Dangote – founder of Dangote Group, Richest man in Africa and Richest black man in the world

20. Fola Adeola – GTBank yoruba/SW

Plus-. Folorunsho Alakija SW

is a Nigerian businesswoman who is the second richest African woman after Isabel Dos Santos and also the third richest woman of African descent in the world.[2] She is a business tycoon involved in the fashion,[3] oil and printing industries.[4] She is the group managing director of The Rose of Sharon Group which consists of The Rose of Sharon Prints & Promotions Limited and Digital Reality Prints Limited and the executive vice-chairman of Famfa Oil Limited.[5] Alakija is ranked by Forbes as the richest woman in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $2.1 billion[1][4] As of 2015, she is listed as the second most powerful woman in Africa after Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the 87th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.[6]

21. Chief Ade Ojo – Elizade Motors Nig LTD, Distributor of Toyota cars SW

Before I finish this essay I will examine an absurd claim that the igbo often make which reflects an inferiority complex, a deep case self-delusion and which borders on the sociopathic. Wherever they settle they often boast that they control all the money that is there and that they have more businesses than anyone else. They often suggest that they have more business acumen and that they are more successful at business than any other tribe in Nigeria yet this is not true.

These strange stories that Igbos are more industrious than the Yoruba people, where do they come from? Is it because Yoruba people think big and never settle for profits from petty trading? The Igbos have not excelled more than Yoruba people in any kind of business at an advanced level, with the exception of the long haul coach and bus business. In the transportation business generally how many igbo people own the largest private airport on the African continent like Wale Babalakin. Tell me the Igbos that are mega industrialists like Folawiyo, Okoya, Adedoyin, Akindele and Awosika. Of the 10 leading banks in Nigeria, 8 of them used to have yoruba people as shareholders with the controlling interest, until Sanusi Lamido Sanusi launched his campaign. Today, four are still owned by Yoruba people and only one by an Igbo. Telecoms, one Ijebu businessman built a massive telecoms company single handedly. No Igbo man can boast of such. The first four leading oil distributors are Yoruba. Of the 10 leading Nigerian businessmen, 6 are Yoruba. The highest indigenous employers of labour are Yoruba people. Look at all the companies in Ikeja- they were all invited by the Western Region Government in the First Republic. If Igbos leave Lagos today, these companies will still hold high in their elegant skyscrapers. Igbos can’t hold Lagos or anywhere in the country hostage. The stereotype claim is that the Yoruba are the agberos of Lagos but you will be surprised to know that many Igbos in Lagos are actively involved in the transport business, some of them also play omo oni le with their Yoruba friends and some of them are street beggars as well. They would have denied this if Fashola had not deported them.

See this illiterate. So we have to teach you simple movies.

Producers are ppl that assisted in making the movie while directors are the owner of the movie. A mere producer have highest 10% income of the entire movie. Secondly, YOLLYWOOD is NOT AND WILL NEVER BE NOLLYWOOd. Stop your desperate attache by force and stick to your inadequate, underperforming movie industry.
Even in the grossing movies of both Nollywood and Yollywood, Nollywood movies still grossed higher income than Hollywood... do you want the math done too for you . since. English is a subject you lack in, I have a filling Math is also a subject you lack in

Lmfaoooo I f2king love this thread. It shows what a pathetic attache by force desperado yolobas are

Lacking in contribution therefore attaching by force to areas you barely contribute in

The least in agricultural production but attache by force to and gave yourself 80%
The least in oil production, but attache by force and gave yourself 15%
Yollywood an inadequate movie industry therefore attache by force to Nollywood.

loool..... Producing a movie in English is not exactly what will make it go global. The use of English is just a contributing +ve factor for Anglophone speaking countries...... All movies can have subtitles.
The success of Korean, Japanese anime/movies, Spanish & Portuguese movies / telenovellas, Indian and Chinese movies demonstrate this quite well.
Fact is nigerian movies generate the bulk of their income within Nigeria, and If yorubas are producing more movies than any other group of people in the country, then ..... maybe you should just shut up.

Take a look at the highest earning Nigerian movies of all time' in the so called nollywood yu claim to dominate - How many of the producers are Igbo?

Lmfaoooo see how pathetic you are. 30 days of Atlanta was directed By Robert peters. Ayo was a mere producer.

Let's remodified this list then since you trying to associate the producers as the directors

First of all your list is a for highest gross movie in Nigeria be it Yollywood or Nollywood in different years. We are talking about annual movie directed and produced. Head to the nearest iroko TV, open any category and count how many movies directed by yoloba in comparison to Igbo.

While I'm at it, add up the gross from the Igbo directors and the yoloba director grin

Finally the yoloba movies are part of YOLLYWOOD, not NOLLYWOOD. No matter what language it is on. There is a big difference. You people movie industry is separate from nollywood and should be proud of it. The same way Hausa are proud of their kannywood and stop your desperate attache by fprce

Nigeria is now officially Africa’s biggest economy. Its GDP was revised up to £307bn this week, after economists re-adjusted the way they calculate the figures for more than 24 years. Most other countries go through this process (known as "rebasing"wink every five years.

The new number now incorporates the revenues from Nigeria's newest business sectors, including its booming film, music, telecoms and e-commerce industries, which had been previously been overlooked for more than two decades.

In view of this, here are five things you might not know about the newly recognised elements of Nigeria’s economy:

1. The movie industry, known as Nollywood, produces more films a year than any other country except India. In 2006, when the last comprehensive data was collected by Unesco, Bollywood released 1,091 major feature films, Nollywood 872, and their namesake, America’s Hollywood, trailed with 485. If you include the smaller, lower budget films Nigeria’s rises to more than 2,500 movies per year. Motion pictures, sound recording and music production are collectively now worth billions of pounds, and constitute 1.4% of the country’s £307bn GDP, according to the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics.

Unesco has attributed much of Nollywood’s success to the fact that it relies on low-budget productions (usually under £20,000) which are released on video CDs, a cheaper alternative to DVDs, and are usually sold for about a dollar each. The 2006 study estimated that 99% of screenings were in informal settings, such as people's homes rather than cinemas. Yet piracy is a huge problem for filmmakers, with an estimated five to 10 illegal discs circulated for every genuine one.

Dude this isn't a matter of attaché abeg grin
There are three movie industry in Nigeria. Yollywood made by yoruba. Kannywood made by north and Nollywood made by Igbo's.

Yes una are attache by force. Unlike the north thstcare actually proud of their kannywood and not desperate to force themselves on Nollywood, yoloba on the other hand, as usual, due yo you ppl inability to develop your yolywood to something worth anything, you loser inferior tribe decided to attach by force to Nollywood. Pathetic disgraceful ppl

With a few exceptions, the majority of ibos leaders keep making political miscalculations both in federal and state levels that hinder their progress as a people, and then blame everybody else but themselves when the consequences of their choices come into play. Yorubas might be friendly but they aren't stüpid; they might be patient but they are deadly - as deadly as a venomous belcher’s sea snake. Mess with this tribe at your own peril. So it is now they know that they have economic interests and assets in Lagos worth protecting, yet always eager to disrupt the fragile political and social status quo in place that begets a peaceful and prosperous coexistence. Is this not self-sabotage? Do you think for a moment the Yorubas are blind to the subtle and tactical aim for a gradual takeover of Lagos State the Ibos are planning and acting out? No, the Yorubas have x-ray vision in this case and can see your plans to the bones. It's just right now the sensible Yoruba leaders are still busy with clearing out the "omoale" leaders (as they call it) from their zones and building a solid political foundation for a brighter future for the Yoruba region and its people. Once they are through (and they are almost through), then the ibos case will be opened and addressed thoroughly. What is happening right now that the Yorubas seem to "overlook" certain anomalistic behavior of the ibos is best described by their idiom that says "Iya yin owa ninu cooler" - hope I got it right. That is, your punishment is still inside the cooler; and you will eat it hot in due time, unless there's a change.

Lagos State is a very complex society, it is like the New York of America; and every tribe in Nigeria have significant populations in Lagos. Whether it is Binis, Hausas, Ijaws, Idomas, Itshekiris, calabars...or whether peoples from Warri, makurdi, maiduguri, Kabba and other places etc! Lagos State as a society is a perfect microcosm of the totality of the Nigerian society at large. However, it has become commonplace for only the ibos (who subconsciously due to the unfortunate civil war continue to see the Yorubas as their social, economic and political enemies) to want to rigorously compete against the Yorubas as if a battle for conquest and Lagos State is one of the spoils of war. That's why you can already witness the ibos designating Lagos as a "no-mans land" on one hand; but yet on other hand methodically trying to take over the so-called no-man's land. This is totally wrong and unacceptable. Lagos state can never be converted to Ibo land, not now and not in a trillion years from now. Every Nigerian tribe I believe have a part of the land no matter how small that is theirs or rather they are the custodians of due to ancestry, conquest or what have you. But the era of conquests is over and no individual tribe has the moral or legal right, or political might to encroach or seize another tribe's accustomed lands. Only the federal government can further share lands to/from tribes as they see fit, and even with all the federal might this can't be done with impunity anymore because fortunately for everyone the era of military rule is over. No federal government will ever share Lagos to any tribe other than Yorubas. It is their inheritance in Nigeria. The ibo inhabitants in Lagos need to understand this: Lagos was, is and always will be a Yoruba State. So the earlier you drop your scheming of "conquering" Lagos, the better for you.

Now, regarding taxation and the DEVELOPMENT of Lagos State, many ibos keep making erroneous claims. They say stuff like: without ibos Lagos State would not have developed the way it has; ibos pay the most taxes; ibos built Lagos; Lagos can't survive without ibos...blah blah blah! Seeing how far this fallacy is spreading, it's best the matter is addressed for the sake of clarity and peace. First off, taxation of businesses and individuals in Lagos State isn't peculiar or exclusive to ibos alone. Everyone pays tax, irrespective of tribe - heck, even Yorubas pay tax and are not exempted. The Lagos State government doesn't have a discriminating taxation policy. Its tax policy is blind to tribe. Ibos don't pay more than everybody else and Yorubas don't pay less that everybody else. The tax percentages are at fixed rates. If we're talking about "amount" of taxes being generated on a tribal basis, unless you're the accountant general of Lagos State, it remains arguable which tribe brings in the highest percentage of taxes. Quantity doesn't necessarily translate to bigger amounts. For example, one company's tax returns in VI can be greater than the tax returns of 100,000 businesses tax returns in Oshodi and Agege combined. So tax revenues can't be estimated based on "quantity" of businesses. Therefore, because there is a proliferation of businesses by ibos across Lagos doesn't necessarily mean or translate that ibos are the largest contributors of taxes. Also, taxes aren't collected along tribal lines; so it will be really difficult for any tribe to indisputably PROVE that they are the largest tax contributors. All the noise ibos keep making claiming to be the ones are unfounded assumptions originating from the most unrealistic parts of their figments of imagination. They have no documented facts with figures from the Lagos state government to legitimize such false claims. It just might be the Hausas, Binis, Ijaws or some other tribe - who knows!

As for development, whether economic and social, Lagos state even before it became a federal capital has always been thriving and prosperous. This is one of the major reasons Lagos later was selected to be a federal capital in the first place. It was an exceptionally promising state booming with exponential economic and social development potential vital for Nigeria's nation building. Lagos wasn't selected out of the blues or by raffle draw to become the federal capital. It was political genius to have done so. I can't dwell so much on this and anyone in doubt can look through the established history books and educate themselves. Development is progressive; it never stops or isn't meant to stop. After Lagos became a Federal capital, the development continued. After it lost that status, the development still continued and federal capital or no federal capital, one thing you could never strip from Lagos State is its super-economic potential. It was a state destined for greatness and nothing could stop it. Economically speaking, Lagos State was like the hand of Midas and everything that touches it turns to gold. To make money, isn't that the foremost reason all tribes have migrated to Lagos? Can't money be made elsewhere? Yes, but certainly not at the speed and success rate Lagosians seem to do it in Lagos. The economic potential was what brought the ibos to Lagos - it's all about coming to make money! Yes, just like everybody else that came, the ibos came to make money and make a life. Now that they have done so, the rest of the tribes can't rest again because the ibos feel they have arrived and arrogantly act as if they now own the state forgetting they met people here when they came. Ibos weren't the first tribe to prosper in Lagos, and ibos won't be the last; ibos aren't the first billionaires in Lagos, and ibos won't be the last. So why all the braggadocious display of economic arrogance towards other tribes, especially your hosts? Dangote (a billionaire in $$$$$) lives in Lagos and a considerable chunk of his business empire is in Lagos but he's not making noise and disturbing the peace in the land, so why must the ibos be harassing others and causing commotion just because they have attained some measure of wealth and every other tribe in Lagos should bow to you. It will never happen. This arrogant character has to stop. No one is intimidated by the ibos wealth because as far as Lagos is concerned, there are wealthy people from all tribes living there. Now, some more history, ibos didn't bring money to Lagos; rather they came to make money from Lagos. And ibos did, some legally and some illegally. Regarding taxes, whatever monies paid to the Lagos government wasn't made in Onitsha, Aba, Owerri, or Umuahia etc. It was made in Lagos and through Lagos. So it's only reasonable and proper that the taxes due be remitted to Lagos. If ibos are paying tens of billions naira in taxes to Lagos, then it's because they have already made hundreds of billions naira. And this is the same for all other tribes, so why are the ibos making a big deal out of this as if they're doing what nobody else is doing in Lagos. Businesses only pay taxes based on what you earn in the state and through the state. You don't pay what you didn't earn. So why are ibos talking as if the taxes they pay to Lagos was earned in Onitsha and they were compelled by the government to bring the money to Lagos; wasn't it earned in Lagos?

Regarding the social development of Lagos, did ibos develop Lagos? No! The ibos developed themselves. The ibos didn't build Lagos roads, bridges, schools, rail, or other public infrastructure. Who built all these? The federal and state governments using national and state resources respectively. So am I saying the ibos built nothing in Lagos? No, i'm not. Then what exactly did the ibos build in Lagos? Well, the ibos built THEIR homes, built THEIR houses, built THEIR businesses...etc! So essentially, the ibos built themselves in Lagos - no more, no less. You didn't build for Lagos, you built for yourselves in Lagos, same thing with other tribes, but the ibos keep talking blindly as if they are charity and what they built was handed over to society. Now you might want to say, What of the taxes they paid, didn't the government use taxpayers money to develop Lagos? Well, ibos are not the only ones who paid taxes. Hausas, ijaws, igallas, idomas, binis, urobos...also did too! Every tribe paid taxes in Lagos, heck even foreigners too. But yet, it's only the ibos making silly noise that they developed Lagos. This childish stupidity is annoying, and you should grow up mentally. If ibos built houses, you built it so that you can enjoy; if you built businesses, you built it so that you can enjoy...and so on! You built yourselves in Lagos, you didn't build Lagos. You developed yourselves in Lagos, you didn't develop Lagos. Lagos State is a natural economic magnet attracting investments from investors locally and globally. Those who bring in money are bringing in money to make more money or other benefits - and not for charity. There's always something to gain from Lagos. If all ibos and ibos assets were to be relocated from Lagos to the SE, would it destroy the Lagos economy? No, not in any way in reality. That "vacuum" (whether properties or investments) created will be filled almost instantly. As it is, there are thousands upon thousands of people rushing to get here daily, and millions more (both locals and foreigners) would come settle here if such a vacuum existed. Lagos is already in shortage of lands and many settlement projects are being built on the seas, like the Eko Atlantic city. I could go on but even this is enough to prove the versatility of the economic prosperity of the land flowing with milk and honey called Lagos state. For several years, the OBJ administration deprived Lagos of federal funds, yet Lagos didn't even feel it one bit. Lagos is a hub of prosperity on its own, take it or leave it. So the ibos shouldn't get it twisted, Lagos will continue to prosper with or without you. Nigeria needs the ibos and the ibos need Nigeria. But Lagos doesn't need the ibos; it's the ibos that need Lagos. Now stop creating any more conflict drama in Lagos than you already have and appreciate your hosts and other tribes. If the ibos are disgusted about paying taxes to Lagos and coexisting peacefully with mutual respect for the Yorubas hosts and other tribes inhabiting Lagos, then well the South East needs further development, the South East governments need taxes too to perform their obligations, so you're free to go to your home states and do the needful.

The biggest entertainment industry in Africa is Bollywood and last I checked that's an Igbo industry which yoloba are shamelessly trying to attache by force due to your inability to actually move your yorubawood to something of value.

The only thing yolobaads are known for in USA is 419/ credit card fraud period hence even the FBI attributes any Nigerian on their list as yolova. The only compsnybowened by a Nigerian in USA that made the news due to government bailout and corruption within the company is ironically a yoloba man's company.

And dus your illiterate ass think the USA government, UK government, etc names a street after una. Lmfaooooooooo. Didn't anyone tell your dimwitted ass anyone can buy a street and name it as long they got proof of purchase. If there is a street in New York named after abiola, 100% chance a yoloba purchased that street sign and remain. As bad to purchase a street sign is not that expensive. Even as college student with limited income can do such a thing. While I'm at it, going around in other names purchasing street signs of it and Nanjing after unaselves actually shows what an inferiority complex, African primitive group you people truly are. Just name one group in the entire world that pitiful. Network is a melting pot of immigrants, name any other group who shamelessly and pathwtixakly did such a thing.

Anyway I'll be waiting on your links to your so called fact because I start demolishing it one by one.

While I'm at it? See this illiterate claiming yoloba created online shopping? grin grin an industry South Africans, North African, Congo etc were doing way in the past even before Nigeria knew it is the yoloba ediots acclaiming as a yoliva production. Once again, bring out the fact in this likewise fact that niggeria contributes the most on this in Africa and majority from south ware. I'll wait.

BTW. late Emmanuel Onyechere Osigwe Anyiam Osigwe stated his business at a the of 20, became of one of the richest Nigerians in the world , a billionaire, by age 25. Was a billionare till his children messed it and brouggt the family wealth down to millions. Why am I telling you this story, what you are doing now is what an Igbo achieved years ago. You once one step behind us.

I'm waiting for the links to each of your "Fact", likewise the African online shopping rubbish you wrote up there, in another addition to the 204 billion naira production of cocoa. I'm waiting and if you don't provide them, I'll provide you my own links that disclaim what you just wrote.

Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla

What forest do you live in??
slowpoke!! I lack words for you. You're an embarrassment to the entire Igbo community.

Don't know you people fine it difficult to assimilate that many SS don't want your imaginary Biafra. Go alone and rid this country of waywardness.
It's better than coming from a tribe which entire population is a complete disgrace to Africa. A tribe so f2king worthless in life majority of una constantly pretend to be others just like you. A yoloba illiterate too ashamed of her savage tribe therefore attaching by force to a state you'll NEVER be from no matter how desperate you truly wish. A pathetic disgrace just like every single yolobavon this planet including yoloba sperms.
