I despise unintelligent people and your post above is really daft. Of course SPDC is only interested in raw crude. They are an EXPLORATION and PRODUCTION company in Nigeria. Their agreement with Nigeria is mainly based on Exploration and Production, no mention of refining.
You folk talk as if the multinational oil companies do not provide value for the FG.
As it stands, Shell already collaborates HEAVILY with the FG in our NLNG project in Bonny. That is a profitable, downstream effort that Shell was very eager to kickstart with the FG.

Finally, nearness to raw materials is not an issue. Most refineries are situated close to raw materials. they are still not very profitable!
